• svnsync looses revision properties although hook installed

  Hello all! I have a pretty weird problem. We have setup an SVN-Mirror via cronjob (because it needs to go from inside to outside of a firewall, so no post-commit-hook possible) and svnsync. We installed a pre-revprop-hook just as told. Everything seems to work fine, except that it doesn't. E.g. when manually executing the script. # svnsync --non-interactive sync file://<path-to-mirror> --source-username <usr> --source-password <pwd> Committed revision 19817. Copied properties for revision 19817. No error, no complaints. But if checking for the revision properties it says: # svnlook info <path-to-mirror> 0 # svn info -r HEAD file://<path-to-mirror> 2>&1 Path: <root-of-mirror> URL: file://<path-to-mirror> Repository Root: file://<path-to-mirror> Repository UUID: <uid> Revision: 19817 Node Kind: directory Last Changed Rev: 19817 So somehow the author and timestamp information gets lost. But we need that information for our internal processes. Since no error or warning is produced I have absolutely no idea even where to start to look. Everything is local (except for the remote master), so there are no server-logs to look at. Any ideas how I could approach that problem, or even better -- how to solve it? Any ideas appreciated.

• CentOS: revert python version back to original

  Hi all, I installed python 2.6 using the instructions here on CentOS 5.4. However I realized it was a bad move and I need to revert back to 2.4, which was there originally. Can anyone guide me on how to undo what I did here? In particular, I am not sure how to undo this: Configure ld to find your shared libs: $ cat /etc/ld.so.conf.d/opt-python2.5.conf /opt/python2.5/lib (hit enter) (hit ctrl-d to return to shell) $ ldconfig I tried removing the alias and the symlink and even re-aliasing python to /usr/bin/python, but when I try to install an RPM i get this error: error: Failed dependencies: libpython2.4.so.1.0 is needed by ...   Hello everybody, I need to implement a plugin architecture within c#/.net in order to load custom user defined actions data type handling code for a custom data grid / conversion / ... from non-static linked assembly files. Because the application has to handle many custom user defined actions, Iam in need for unloading them once executed in order to reduce memory usage. I found several good articles about plugin architectures, eg: ExtensionManager PluginArchitecture ... but none of them gave me enough sausage for properly unloading an assembly. As the program is to be distributed and the user defined actions are (as the name states) user defined: how to i prevent the assembly from executing malicious code (eg. closing my progra, deleting files)? Are there any other pitfalls one of you has encountered?

  I'm wondering how to filter the input of a .NET textbox. I already know that I could listen for the KeyDown event and intercept the key, but that won't filter pasted strings by a right-click menu or a CTRL+V. I also don't wan't to completely disable the possibility of pasting of characters in the textbox. The paste action should be cancelled whenever it contains one or more invalid characters. Finally, I'd like to display a notification balloon whenever invalid characters are either entered or pasted. µTorrent already has this exact behavior: How can I achieve this functionality in C# ?

• the commands ls and get of ftp are not working in vmware

  Hi, Iam using vmware player version 3.1 to boot a minix 3 os image. After booting the minix os I want to get some files from a server using ftp. the ftp connection to the server works but when i use the commands "ls" or "get" nothing happens except it says "200 PORT command successful" and it hanges in there. The only thing i can do after typing ls+enter or get+enter is to exit the ftp by using ctrl+c. If anyone knows a solution to this? please help. Thank you

• Is it possible to partition more than one way at a time in SQL Server?

  I'm considering various ways to partition my data in SQL Server. One approach I'm looking at is to partition a particular huge table into 8 partitions, then within each of these partitions to partition on a different partition column. Is this even possible in SQL Server, or am I limited to definining one parition column+function+scheme per table? I'm interested in the more general answer, but this strategy is one I'm considering for Distributed Partitioned View, where I'd partition the data under the first scheme using DPV to distribute the huge amount of data over 8 machines, and then on each machine partition that portion of the full table on another parition key in order to be able to drop (for example) sub-paritions as required.

  I'm developing an application for the iPhone that has inApp-mail sending capabilities. So far so good, but now I want to avoid html-injections as some parts of the mail are user-generated texts.   I used a WCF REST template to build a WCF service library to create PUT and GET calls. PUT method works fine sending my blob to a database. On the GET, I want to be able to access the web service directly and display the results from a stored procedure as a dataset and bind this to a gridview. The stored procedure is a simple select statement, returning three of the four columns from the table. • Recommendations to handle development and deployment of php web apps using shared project code

  I am wondering what the best way (for a lone developer) is to develop a project that depends on code of other projects deploy the resulting project to the server I am planning to put my code in svn, and have shared code as a separate project. There are problems with svn:externals which I cannot fully estimate. I've read subversion:externals considered to be an anti-pattern, and How do you organize your version control repository, but there is one special thing with php-projects (and other interpreted source code): there is no final executable resulting from your libraries. External dependencies are thus always on raw source code. Ideally I really want to be able to develop simultaneously on one project and the projects it dependends on. Possible way: Check out a projects' dependency in a sub folder as a working copy of the trunk. Problems I foresee: When you want to deploy a project, you might want to freeze its dependencies, right? The dependency code should not end up as a duplicate in the projects repository, I think. *(update1: I additionally assume svn:ignore will pose problems if I cannot fall back on symlinks, see my comment) I am still looking for suggestions that do not require the use junction points. They are a sort of unsupported hack in winxp, which may break some programs* This leads me to the last part of the question (as one has influence on the other): how do you deploy apps whith such dependencies? I've looked into BuildOut for Python, but it seems to be tightly related to the python ecosystem (resolving and fetching python modules from the web etc). I am very eager to learn about your best practices.

  Hello, everyone I cannot get a way to terminate a thread that is hung in a socket.recvfrom() call. For example, ctrl+c that should trigger KeyboardInterrupt exception can't be caught. • XML over HTTP with JMS and Spring

  I have a legacy HTTP server where I need to send an XML file over HTTP request (POST) using Java (not browser) and the server will respond with another XML in its HTTP response. It is similar to Web Service but there's no WSDL and I have to follow the existing XML structure to construct my XML to be sent. I have done a research and found an example that matches my requirement here. The example uses HttpClient from Apache Commons. (There are also other examples I found but they use java.net networking package (like URLConnection) which is tedious so I don't want to use them). But it's also my requirement to use Spring and JMS. I know from Spring's reference that it's possible to combine HttpClient, JMS and Spring. My question is, how? Note that it's NOT in my requirement to use HttpClient. If you have a better suggestion, I'm welcome. Appreciate it. • How to use a CTabCtrl in a MFC dialog based application ?

  I need to do something which i expected to be was simple - create a tab control which has 2 tabs, implying 2 modes of operation for my app. When user clicks on Tab1, he'll be presented with some buttons and textboxes, and when he clicks Tab2, some other input method. I noticed that there was a CTabCtrl class thats used in MFC to add tabs. However, once I added the tab ctrl using the UI designer, I couldn't specify how many tabs there'll be using property window. Searching on the net, I found some examples but all of them required you to derive from CtabCtrl , create 2 or more child dialogs etc and to write your own custom class. My question is, since I want to do something so basic, why couldn't I do it using the familiar Add Event handler/Add member variable wizard and then handle everything else inside my app's class ? Surely, the default CTabCtrl class can do something useful without needing to derive from it ?

• FileInputStream for a generic file System

  I have a file that contains java serialized objects like "Vector". I have stored this file over Hadoop Distributed File System(HDFS). Now I intend to read this file (using method readObject) in one of the map task. I suppose FileInputStream in = new FileInputStream("hdfs/path/to/file"); wont' work as the file is stored over HDFS. So I thought of using org.apache.hadoop.fs.FileSystem class. But Unfortunately it does not have any method that returns FileInputStream. All it has is a method that returns FSDataInputStream but I want a inputstream that can read serialized java objects like vector from a file rather than just primitive data types that FSDataInputStream would do. Please help!

  I am trying to figure out how to do a series of queries to get the updates, deletes and inserts segregated into their own calls. I have 2 tables, one in each of 2 databases. One is a Read Only feeds database and the other is the T-SQL R/W Production source. There are a few key columns in common between the two. What I am doing to setup is this: List<model.AutoWithImage> feedProductList = _dbFeed.AutoWithImage.Where(a => a.ClientID == ClientID).ToList(); List<model.vwCompanyDetails> companyDetailList = _dbRiv.vwCompanyDetails.Where(a => a.ClientID == ClientID).ToList(); foreach (model.vwCompanyDetails companyDetail in companyDetailList) { List<model.Product> productList = _dbRiv.Product.Include("Company").Where(a => a.Company.CompanyId == companyDetail.CompanyId).ToList(); } Now that I have a (source) list of products from the feed, and an existing (target) list of products from my prod DB I'd like to do 3 things: Find all SKUs in the feed that are not in the target Find all SKUs that are in both, that are active feed products and update the target Find all SKUs that are in both, that are inactive and soft delete from the target What are the best practices for doing this without running a double loop? Would prefer a LINQ 4 Objects solution as I already have my objects. EDIT: BTW, I will need to transfer info from feed rows to target rows in the first 2 instances, just set a flag in the last instance. TIA

• List of private iPhone APIs?

  . . Hi there, everybody. . . I need to do an app to be distributed ad hoc (it doesn't need to go to the store) but I need to get the information about the "data usage" (gprs/3g traffic). It is available on the system, but there is no official API call to get that info. One app made it through Apple testing (it's called "Download Meter"), though, and I emailed the guys to see if they would share the call, but they were not in that mood. . . Is there any list of private APIs or anything like that? Does anyone have any ideas of how could I get that info? Again: the app doesn't need to go to the store, but I need to install it on stock iPhone (ad hoc will do). . Thanks.

• Preserve whitespace and formatting for text returned from $.get jquery call

  I have a jquery $.get() call in my app that requests an entire web page. In the callback function, I access a div in the returned page, get its data and show it on my page. The problem is that the text I get from the div does not preserve the source formatting. If the div in the requested page had say an ordered list, then when i get that text and display on my page, it shows up as a paragraph with items inline instead of being shown as a list.   Has anyone spent any time comparing the various Objective C bridges and associated Cocoa wrappers for Mono? I want to port an existing C# application to run on OS X. Ideally I'd run the application on Mono, and build a native Cocoa UI for it. I'm wondering which bridge would be the best choice. • How can I marshal JSON to/from a POJO for BlackBerry Java?

  I'm writing a RIM BlackBerry client app. BlackBerry uses a simplified version of Java (no generics, no annotations, limited collections support, etc.; roughly a Java 1.3 dialect). My client will be speaking JSON to a server. We have a bunch of JAXB-generated POJOs, but they're heavily annotated, and they use various classes that aren't available on this platform (ArrayList, BigDecimal, XMLGregorianCalendar). We also have the XSD used by the JAXB-XJC compiler to generate those source files. Being the lazy programmer that I am, I'd really rather not manually translate the existing source files to Java 1.3-compatible JSON-marshalling classes. I already tried JAXB 1.0.6 xjc. Unfortunately, it doesn't understand the XSD file well enough to emit proper classes. Do you know of a tool that will take JAXB 2.0 XSD files and emit Java 1.3 classes? And do you know of a JSON marshalling library that works with old Java? I think I am doomed because JSON arrived around 2006, and Java 5 was released in late 2004, meaning that people probably wouldn't be writing JSON-parsing code for old versions of Java. However, it seems that there must be good JSON libraries for J2ME, which is why I'm holding out hope.

  I got my hands on bootstrap recently and I'm still discovering it. I made collapsable menu from a tutorial online but now that I want to had an image on each entry of my menu that I wasn't expecting. I want my image to be always aligned to the text in the menu but it still getting on top of it. I tried to remove row and col tag and forget about the responsiveness of my menu but it still doesn't work...   We have generic class SomeClass<T>{ } We can write the line: SomeClass s= new SomeClass<String>(); It's ok, because raw type is supertype for generic type. But SomeClass<String> s= new SomeClass(); is correct to. Why is it correct? I thought that type erasure was before type checking, but it's wrong. This step includes name resolution, type checking and constant folding. flow: Performs data ow analysis on the trees from the previous step. This includes checks for assignments and reachability. desugar: Rewrites the AST and translates away some syntactic sugar. generate: Generates Source Files or Class Files. Generic is syntax sugar, hence type erasure invoked at 6 pass, after type checking, which invoked at 4 pass. I'm confused.
