• SearchView - Choose between two target Activities according to the query result

  My application has to do the following: - if the user enters a query that matches exactly an object in my database, a Activity that shows this object should appear; - if the query doesn't match an exact object, a ArrayList with related objects will be returned and an Activity will display this list. So, as I'm using a SearchView on my ActionBar, I want to know how to open the right Activity based on the result of the query, something like this: if(objectFound) openActivityThatShowsThisObject(); else openActivityWithRelatedResults(); I saw in other question that I could use a facade Activity, but I don't know if that is a good approach. Any help will be appreciated, thanks!

  Hi, I'd like to write a method that can accept a type param (or whatever the method can figure out the type from) and return a value of this type so I don't have to cast the return type. Here is a method: public Object doIt(Object param){ if(param instanceof String){ return "string"; }else if(param instanceof Integer){ return 1; }else{ return null; } } When I call this method, and pass in it a String, even if I know the return type will be a String I have to cast the return Object. This is similar to the int param. How shall I write this method to accept a type param, and return this type?

• python dictionary with constant value-type

  hi there, I bumped into a case where I need a big (=huge) python dictionary, which turned to be quite memory-consuming. However, since all of the values are of a single type (long) - as well as the keys, I figured I can use python (or numpy, doesn't really matter) array for the values ; and wrap the needed interface (in: x ; out: d[x]) with an object which actually uses these arrays for the keys and values storage. I can use a index-conversion object (input -- index, of 1..n, where n is the different-values counter), and return array[index]. I can elaborate on some techniques of how to implement such an indexing-methods with reasonable memory requirement, it works and even pretty good. However, I wonder if there is such a data-structure-object already exists (in python, or wrapped to python from C/++), in any package (I checked collections, and some Google searches). Any comment will be welcome, thanks.

If CSS class is assigning CSS to element can't we read its value in JS ? Does this mean that if we are not assigning property directly to the element we cant get it if in case its inheriting it ?

For example: var htmlstr = "<div><ul><li>some text 1</li></ul></div><div><ul id=list><li>some text 2</li></ul></div>"; var s = $('ul#list', $(htmlstr)).html(); s will be <li>some text 2</li>. It's what I want. But the question is, if I want to add another LI element to this string (htmlstr) how can I do? I set s = new html string but htmlstr doesn't change. Thanks

It says: template<class InputIterator> string (InputIterator begin, InputIterator end); If InputIterator is an integral type, behaves as the sixth constructor version (the one right above this) by typecasting begin and end to call it: string(static_cast<size_t>(begin),static_cast<char>(end)); In any other case, the parameters are taken as iterators, and the content is initialized with the values of the elements that go from the element referred by iterator begin to the element right before the one referred by iterator end. So what does that mean if InputIterator is a char * ?

• Working with Multiple Layers - KineticJS

  I'm using KineticJS 4.0.5 and I'm currently trying to draw the contents of several layers but only the last one added to stage is drawn... If I understood the documentation correctly this should be possible, otherwise why would we need a layer? I have three different layers: a background layer with just a Kinectic.Rect object; a elements layer with several types of shapes; and a top layer with elements I want to be always on top of everything. I populate those layers inside a draw function I have inside a object I created, this object also has a shape attribute which refers to the background and a contents attribute with the elements to add to the elements layer. My code for the draw function is the following: this.draw = function() { var stage = E.game.stage, layers = E.game.layers; stage.clear(); // Add Background this.shape.setSize(stage.getWidth(), stage.getHeight()); layers.background.add(this.shape); // Iterate over contents for(var i = 0; i < this.contents.length; i++) { layers.elements.add(this.contents[i].shape); } // Draw Everything stage.add(layers.background); stage.add(layers.elements); stage.add(layers.top); // This one is currently empty stage.draw(); } After running this function, only layers.top is drawn in the canvas, and if I comment the line where it is added only layers.elements is drawn. However the stage has 3 childrens (I checked it with inspect element on chrome) and in the documentation it says the draw function draws all layers... Am I doing something wrong here? Or it isn't possible? And if it's not possible why would I need a layer and a stage? Wouldn't one be enough? Thank you in advance. Edit: I was able to solve the problem, I was applying a white background color with css to the canvas element and since each layer creates a new canvas element above the others I could only see the contents for the top most layer (in this case just white). However, I still have a problem related with multiple layers that I didn't have before with just one layer. When I use the clear function on the stage it should clear the layers right? But instead the layers remain exactly the same, even if I try to call clear on each individual layer they won't change... I'm also using the stage draw function after clearing them but still no changes at all... The only solution I found until now was by removing the layer from the stage and adding it again :s Is there a better way to reset the layers contents? I only found how add click event on one widget layout element (with setOnClickPendingIntent), and how send text to widget element TextView. But it's unclear how handle click events for sub-elemets, or how get click coordinates(or item) where was click event.   I have a hierarchy of Directory elements in a WiX script. I also have a component that creates a virtual directory (using IIS:WebVirtualDir), which points to the root of my Directory hierarchy. How do I change a property (e.g. AnonymousAccess) of a subfolder of the virtual directory, e.g. MyVirtualDir <<< this is the virtual directory root MyVirtualDir\MySubFolder <<< this is the subfolder for which I wish to change a property using WebDirProperties Please note that I do not wish to create a new virtual directory for the subfolder. I only wish to change a few security settings. The current script is too big to post here, but take a look at the WiX tutorial: 5.3 Web Directory. Suppose in that example that there was another Directory element named "MySubFolder" nested within the "InstallDir" element. What would then be the next step in order to set properties for "MySubFolder" without turning it into a virtual directory?

  Ok, here's what I'm trying to do. I have a DIV box with a child element set with DISPLAY: NONE;. I'm trying to use Jquery so that when the mouse enters the parent DIV box, the child element is made visible, and then hides when the mouse leaves the parent DV. There will be multiple divs on the page with these classes. For some reason it's not working. Any ideas? • Workaround for stopping propagation with live()?

  I've run into the problem that has been addressed here without a workaround: I can't use stopPropagation() on dynamically spawned elements. I've tried creating a condition to exclude a click within the dimensions of the spawned element, but that doesn't seem to work at all. Here is what I got: 1) a large background element ("canvas") that is activated to be "sensitive to clicks on it" by a button 2) the canvas, if activated, catches all clicks on it and spawns a small child form ("child") within it 3) the child is positioned relative to the mouse click position. If the mouse click was on the right half of the canvas, the child will be positioned 200 pixels to the left of that spot. (On the right if the click was in the left half) 4) every new click on the canvas removes the existing child (if any) and spawns a new child at the new position (relative to the click) The problem: Since the spawned child element is on top of the canvas, a click on it counts as a click on the canvas. Even if the child is outside of the boundaries of the canvas, clicking on it will trigger the action as described in 4) again . This shouldn't happen. =========== CODE: The button to activate the canvas: $('a#activate').click(function(event){ event.preventDefault(); canvasActive(); }); I referenced the above to show you that the canvas click-catching is happening in a function. Not sure if this is relevant... It seems that I get weird results when I run my program. But if I declare the float foo[10] to be const and initialize it in the declaration, I get correct results. Why is this happening?

  Hi. I have a TCP Server application that serves each client in a new thread using POSIX Threads and C++. The server calls "listen" on its socket and when a client connects, it makes a new object of class Client. The new object runs in its own thread and processes the client's requests. When a client disconnects, i want some way to tell my main() thread that this thread is done, and main() can delete this object and log something like "Client disconnected". My question is, how do i tell to the main thread, that a thread is done ?

• WPF combo box, adding an all options item, when binding to an Observable Collection

  So I've got an object that has an observable collection. Most places I bind to this collection I only want the user to select a single item. But in one place I want the combobox to include an all items option. Is the way to do this simply with xaml converter? It seems like doing it in the view model would be a good idea, but it's really a lot dependency object goop to basically wire up an collection that is two objects deep for an on change event, where as the xaml converter just works. But I always feel like xaml converters should be generic and reusable, where in this instance, the xaml converter would be more of a one off. Of course the third option would be to create one off list for UI in the object that contains the standard observable collection. But this seems to be mixing the logic and presentation in a way that makes me uncomfortable.

• Best way to test instance methods without running __init__

  I've got a simple class that gets most of its arguments via init, which also runs a variety of private methods that do most of the work. Output is available either through access to object variables or public methods. Here's the problem - I'd like my unittest framework to directly call the private methods called by init with different data - without going through init. What's the best way to do this? So far, I've been refactoring these classes so that init does less and data is passed in separately. This makes testing easy, but I think the usability of the class suffers a little.   Hey guys, How can I figure out which word is at the point where the user tapped on a UIWebView? I am able to detect the CGPoint for the tap (subclassing UIWindow like this), and I can actually get the DOM element on that point using javascript. But I know very little of javascript and DOM to figure out how can I actually get which word the user tapped on. Is that possible? • Hibernate and Child Objects (add versus clear)

  Lets say I have domain model with Automobile and Wheels. Wheels is a List of Wheels Wheels has a many-to-one relationship to Automobile. If I get an object back from Hibernate and it has 4 wheels. I take that object remove the 4 wheels and add 4. And then Save. If I ask Hibernate for the object again and it returns an auto with 8 wheels... what are we doing wrong? I don't have access to the source for a few days but want to give our Java devs a push in the right direction. Thanks.

• Problem in serializing

  Hello Guyz, Presently I need to serialize one of my object which contains more my own classes object. But the problem is I dont want to save it in a file and then retrieve it into memory stream. Is there any way to directly serialize my object into stream. I used BinaryFormatter for seializing. First I used a MemoryStream directly to take serialize output but it is giving error at time of deserialization. But later when I serialize it with a file then close it and again reopen it , it works perfectly. But I want to take it direct into stream because in my program I need to do it frequently to pass it into network client. And using file repeatedly might slow down my software. Hope I clear my problem. Any Sugetion ?
