  • MVVM/ViewModels and handling Authorization

    Hey guys Just wondering how how people handle Authorization when using MVVM and/or View Models. If I wasn't using VM's I would be passing back the Model and it would have a property which I could check if a user can edit a given object/property but when using MVVM I am disconnecting myself from the business object... and thus doen't know what the security should be any more. Is this a case where the mapper should be aware of the Authorization that is in place and don't copy across the data if the Authorization check fails. If this was the case I am guessing that the mapper would have to see some properties on the VM to let the interface know which fields are missing data because of the Authorization failure. If this does occur within the mapper, how does this fit in with things like AutoMapper, etc. Cheers Anthony

    I'd like to implement declarative security with Spring/AOP and annotations. Is there a simple solution to this? I read something about using the AspectJ agent but I would prefer not to use this agent.

  • Are the ASP.net __EVENTTARGET and __EVENTARGUMENT susceptible to SQL injection?

    A security review was done against one of our ASP.net applications and returned in the test results was a SQL Injection Exposures considered to be a high risk item. The test that was performed passed a SQL statement as the value of the __EVENTTARGET and the __EVENTARGUMENT. I am wondering since these 2 values are ASP.net auto-generated hidden fields used for the Auto-Postback feature of the framework and hold information specific to the controls initiating the postback, is there really the potential for SQL injection if you are never manually calling and or pulling values out of these parameters in your code behind?

    I am a WCF / Security Newb. I have created a WCF service which is hosted via a windows service. The WCF service grabs data from a 3rd party data source that is secured via windows authentication. I need to either: Pass the client's privileges through the windows service, through the WCF service and into the 3rd party data source, or... Limit who can call the windows service / WCF service to members of a particular AD group. Any suggestions on how I can do either of these tasks?

Since it's on the free site - I didn't want to violate any terms of agreement - so it doesn't mention Oracle explicitly. But if you wanted to actually do what the animation talks about with Oracle database - you need to configure the Oracle database to use Oracle Enterprise User Security. EUS requires OVD or OID and works with most popular LDAP servers including Active Directory and of course our newest Oracle Directory member - Directory Server Enterprise Edition (aka the former Sun directory).     hi, i have to do a sniffer as an assignment for the security course. i am using c and the pcap library. i got everything working well (since i got a code from the internet and changed it). but i have some questions about the code. u_int ip_len = (ih->ver_ihl & 0xf) * 4; ih is of type ip_header, and its currently pointing the to ip header in the packet. ver_ihl gives the version of the ip i can't figure out what is: & 0xf) * 4; any help?

  • Passing Certificate to Svcutil to generate proxy for OSB Service

    We are wanting to implement Two-Way SSL security from WCF to OSB Services. We have successfully deployed the certificates so that when you browse to the service with IE you get the appropriate prompt for certificate and then it takes you immediately to the WSDL. But, when you attempt to generate a proxy using svcutil as defined in steps 8 and 9 in this MSDN article. http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc949005.aspx I get the error: A reply message was received for operation 'Get' with action 'http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/ws/2004/09/transfer/Get'. However, your client code requires action 'http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/ws/2004/09/transfer/GetResponse'. The OSB services are set to use Soap 1.2 and the svcutil.exe.config we use is identicle to the article except for the findValue and x509FindType. Instead we used the FindByThumbprint pointing to the "My" store name and "CurrentUser" store location. The cert is there and is the same cert we select from the IE prompt.

  • Reflection Permission problems when using the GSON library in a applet.

    I'm writing an Applet that makes some JSON-RPC calls. I'm using the Google JSON library (GSON) to cast the response JSON into a class. Thsi seems to work fine as is but when I use this code in my Applet, I'm hit with a java.lang.reflect.reflectpermission. From what I read on this thread on SO, it seems that since GSON uses Reflection, I cannot use it in Applets unless I explicitly modify the security policy. How can I get around this? I've created a bunch of classes in my application and was using the Gson.fromJson method to cast it into the class. Is there any way to achieve the same functionality without having to re-write half my code. (The complexity of dealing with JSON in Java seems to be in a league of its own!) Thanks in advance guys.

  • SPARC M7 Chip - 32 cores - Mind Blowing performance

    The M7 Chip Oracle just announced its Next Generation Processor at the HotChips HC26 conference. As the Tech Lead in our Systems Division's Partner group, I had a front row seat to the extraordinary price performance advantage of Oracle current T5 and M6 based systems. Partner after partner tested  these systems and were impressed with it performance. Just read some of the quotes to see what our partner has been saying about our hardware. We just announced our next generation processor, the M7. This has 32 cores (up from 16-cores in T5 and 12-cores in M6). With 20 nm technology  this is our most advanced processor. The processor has more cores than anything else in the industry today. After the Sun acquisition Oracle has released 5 processors in 4 years and this is the 6th.  The S4 core  The M7 is built using the foundation of the S4 core. This is the next generation core technology. Like its predecessor, the S4 has 8 dynamic threads. It increases the frequency while maintaining the Pipeline depth. Each core has its own fine grain power estimator that keeps the core within its power envelop in 250 nano-sec granularity. Each core also includes Software in Silicon features for Application Acceleration Support. Each core includes features to improve Application Data Integrity, with almost no performance loss. The core also allows using part of the Virtual Address to store meta-data.  User-Level Synchronization Instructions are also part of the S4 core. Each core has 16 KB Instruction and 16 KB Data L1 cache. The Core Clusters  The cores on the M7 chip are organized in sets of 4-core clusters. The core clusters share  L2 cache.  All four cores in the complex share 256 KB of 4 way set associative L2 Instruction Cache, with over 1/2 TB/s of throughput. Two cores share 256 KB of 8 way set associative L2 Data Cache, with over 1/2 TB/s of throughput. With this innovative Core Cluster architecture, the M7 doubles core execution bandwidth. to maximize per-thread performance.  The Chip  Each  M7 chip has 8 sets of these core-clusters. The chip has 64 MB on-chip L3 cache. This L3 caches is shared among all the cores and is partitioned into 8 x 8 MB chunks. Each chunk is  8-way set associative cache. The aggregate bandwidth for the L3 cache on the chip is over 1.6TB/s. Each chip has 4 DDR4 memory controllers and can support upto 16 DDR4 DIMMs, allowing for 2 TB of RAM/chip. The chip also includes 4 internal links of PCIe Gen3 I/O controllers.  Each chip has 7 coherence links, allowing for 8 of these chips to be connected together gluelessly. Also 32 of these chips can be connected in an SMP configuration. A potential system with 32 chips will have 1024 cores and 8192 threads and 64 TB of RAM.  Software in Silicon The M7 chip has many built in Application Accelerators in Silicon. These features will be exposed to our Software partners using the SPARC Accelerator Program.  The M7  has built-in logic to decompress data at the speed of memory access. This means that applications can directly work on compressed data in memory increasing the data access rates. The VA Masking feature allows the use of part of the virtual address to store meta-data.  Realtime Application Data Integrity The Realtime Application Data Integrity feature helps applications safeguard against invalid, stale memory reference and buffer overflows. The first 4-bits if the Pointer can be used to store a version number and this version number is also maintained in the memory & cache lines. When a pointer accesses memory the hardware checks to make sure the two versions match. A SEGV signal is raised when there is a mismatch. This feature can be used by the Database, applications and the OS.  M7 Database In-Memory Query Accelerator The M7 chip also includes a In-Silicon Query Engines.  These accelerate tasks that work on In-Memory Columnar Vectors. Oracle In-Memory options stores data in Column Format. The M7 Query Engine can speed up In-Memory Format Conversion, Value and Range Comparisons and Set Membership lookups. This engine can work on Compressed data - this means not only are we accelerating the query performance but also increasing the memory bandwidth for queries.  SPARC Accelerated Program  At the Hotchips conference we also introduced the SPARC Accelerated Program to provide our partners and third part developers access to all the goodness of the M7's SPARC Application Acceleration features.   • Is there anyway to make a Rails / Rack application tell the web server to drop the connection

    There are many security reasons why one would want to drop an HTTP connection with no response (eg. OWASP's SSL best practices). When these can be detected at the server level then it's no big deal. However, what if you can only detect this condition at the application level? Does Rails, or more generally Rack, have any standard way of telling the server to drop the connection without a response? If not, are there some standard headers to pass in that will accomplish that in common web servers (I'm thinking Nginx or Apache)? Even if there is not a standard header is there a reasonable way to configure that behavior? Is this a fool's errand?

    Néhány hónapon belül az Oracle Hungary Kft. új irodaházba költözik. Érdemes tehát "inkrementálisan" selejtezni, ahogyan egy jó adattárházba is lépésenként kerülnek be az adatok, és témakörönként kisebb kilométerkövek mentén no a lefedett területek garmadája. :) Az imént akadt a kezembe egy jelentkezési lap az Oracle döntéstámogatás (DSS) témakörbol 1997-bol: Új döntésté(!)mogató eszközök a fejlesztok kezében, Oracle Partneri konferencia, 1997. november 7. :) Oldtimer... És mindez véletlenöl pontosan a NOSZF dátumára idozítve. Együtt ünnepelt a világ! Emlékszik még valaki, mi is a NOSZF feloldása? :) Azóta az Oracle Warehouse Builder és az Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition és a BI Standard Edition One lettek a zászlóshajók az ETL-ELT és az elemzés-kimutatáskészítés területen.

    I know why it's happening and i turned the validation on the page level, but is there a way to turn it off on the control level? "Invalid Postback or callback argument . Event validation is enabled using in configuration or <%@ Page EnableEventValidation="true" %in a page. For security purposes, this feature verifies that arguments to Postback or callback events originate from the server control that originally rendered them. If the data is valid and expected, use the ClientScriptManager.RegisterForEventValidation method in order to register the Postback or callback data for validation."
