  • Installing an exe with Powershell DSC Package resource gets return code 1619

    I'm trying to use Powershell DSC's Package resource to install an exe... Perforce's P4V to be specific. Here's my code: Configuration PerforceMachine { Node "SERVERNAME" { Package P4V { Ensure = "Present" Name = "Perforce Visual Components" Path = "\\nas\share\p4vinst64.exe" ProductId = '' Arguments = "/S /V/qn" # args for silent mode LogPath = "$env:ProgramData\p4v_install.log" } } } When running this, this is the error Powershell gives me: PowerShell provider MSFT_PackageResource failed to execute Set-TargetResource functionality with error message: The return code 1619 was not expected. Configuration is likely not correct + CategoryInfo : InvalidOperation: (:) [], CimException + FullyQualifiedErrorId : ProviderOperationExecutionFailure + PSComputerName : SERVERNAME According to documentation, return code 1619 means the MSI package couldn't be opened. However, when I manually log in to the machine and run "\\nas\share\p4vinst64.exe /S /V/qn", the install works flawlessly. Does anyone know why this is failing? Alternately, can anyone tell me how to troubleshoot this? I pasted all the error information I got from the terminal, my log file (p4v_install.log) is a 0 byte file, and there are no events in the event viewer. I don't know how to troubleshoot it any further! EDIT: I should note that I also tried using the File resource to copy the file locally, and then install it from there. Sadly, that met with the same result.

    I've read Vimdiff and Viewing differences with Vimdiff plus doing various google searches using things like "vimdiff multiple", "vimdiff git", "vimdiff commands" etc. When using do or diffg I get the error "More than two buffers in diff mode, don't know which one to use". When using diffg v:fname_in I get "No matching buffer for v:fname_in". From the vimdiff documentation: :[range]diffg[et] [bufspec] Modify the current buffer to undo difference with another buffer. If [bufspec] is given, that buffer is used. If [bufspec] refers to the current buffer then nothing happens. Otherwise this only works if there is one other buffer in diff mode. and more: When 'diffexpr' is not empty, Vim evaluates to obtain a diff file in the format mentioned. These variables are set to the file names used: v:fname_in original file v:fname_new new version of the same file v:fname_out resulting diff file So, I need to get the name of bufspec, but the default variables (fname_in, fname_new, and fname_out) aren't set. I ran the command git mergetool on a linux box through a terminal.

    I use AppEngine JRuby on Rails (SDK version 1.3.3.1) - a problem I encounter often is that after a few requests the server is getting really SLOW, until it dies and throws OutOfMemoryError on the terminal (OSX). The requests themselves are very lightweight, not more than looking for an entity or saving it, using DataMapper. On appspot, this problem is not happening. Is there any way to enlarge the heap space for JRuby?   • Label in PyQt4 GUI not updating with every loop of FOR loop

    I'm having a problem, where I wish to run several command line functions from a python program using a GUI. I don't know if my problem is specific to PyQt4 or if it has to do with my bad use of python code. What I wish to do is have a label on my GUI change its text value to inform the user which command is being executed. My problem however, arises when I run several commands using a for loop. I would like the label to update itself with every loop, however, the program is not updating the GUI label with every loop, instead, it only updates itself once the entire loop is completed, and displays only the last command that was executed. I am using PyQt4 for my GUI environment. And I have established that the text variable for the label is indeed being updated with every loop, but, it is not actually showing up visually in the GUI. Is there a way for me to force the label to update itself? I have tried the update() and repaint() methods within the loop, but they don't make any difference. I would really appreciate any help.     Am trying to get the ARM plugin for Eclipse (http://sourceforge.net/projects/gnuarmeclipse/) going on iMac i7, OS 10.6.3, Xcode 3.2.2 (don't want to upgrade during my project). The plugin needs (IIRC) arm-elf-gcc3, which needs darwinports for "easy" install.   • Need help understanding "TypeError: default __new__ takes no parameters" error in python

    For some reason I am having trouble getting my head around __init__ and __new__. I have a bunch of code that runs fine from the terminal, but when I load it as a plugin for Google Quick Search Box, I get the error TypeError: default __new__ takes no parameters. I have been reading about the error, and it's kind of making my brain spin. As it stands I have 3 classes, with no sub-classes, each class has it's own defs. I never use def __init__ or def __new__, but I have gotten the distinct feeling that these are the functions (or the lack thereof) that would be giving me the error. I have no idea how to summarize the code down to a snippet that would be helpful here, since I'm a bit over my head, but the entire script can be found at github. Not expecting anyone to bugfix my code for me, I am just at my wit's end on this. A simple (plain english, not the quote from the python docs which I have read 20 times and still don't really understand) explination of why this error would pop up, or why I should be, or not be, using the __init__ and/or __new__ functions would be seriously appreciated.     Hey I have defined a few custom file types for vim. I have done this like this: In vimrc: au BufWinEnter,BufRead,BufNewFile *.jak set filetype=jak And then in jak.vim syn match arrows /<-/ syn match arrows /->/ syn match arrows /=>/ syn match arrows /<=/ highlight arrows ctermfg=brown ... This works. (Formatting applies to any file opened with vim with file extension .jak) My question is how I can keep all the current formatting for a file type but add functionality. For example I would like to add this functionality for .vim files: syn keyword yellow yellow highlight yellow ctermfg=yellow ... (so that I can see how my terminal interpenetrates different colors before choosing them.) I have created ~/.vim/syntax/vim.vim (file only contains the above) and put this into my vimrc: au BufWinEnter,BufRead,BufNewFile *.vim set filetype=vim This has no effect. The word yellow is not colored yellow. I have also tried putting my vim.vim file into ~/.vim/after/syntax/vim.vim As suggested here This is the approach that I would like to take.   • Error while dynamically loading mapi32.dll

    Our application uses Simple MAPI to send e-mails. One of our clients has problems sending e-mail from a session on his terminal server. The mapi32.dll is loaded with a call to LoadLibrary which succeeds, but then our application tries to get the addresses of the functions MAPILogon, MAPILogOff, MAPISendMail, MAPIFreeBuffer and MAPIResolveName. The problem is that GetProcAddress fails for those functions with an ERROR_ACCESS_DENIED (code: 5) except for MAPIFreeBuffer. It looks like some sort of security thing. How can I fix this or should I use another method to send mail?     Hi On a Terminal Server install of my WinForms app, one of my clients gets the following exception on startup: "Unrecognized configuration section connectionStrings" This is occurring in myapp.exe.config but I can't figure out why. Runs perfectly everywhere else, only difference between this install and any other is the connection string. I've searched around, but can only find this issue relating to ASP.NET apps and issues in web.config. Any ideas what could be broken in the config of this WinForms app though? Is it indicating a problem further up in machine.config? There are also few other packages installed to support we development like passenger and mysql5, etc... I can find ruby installed in the /opt/local/bin directory. My environment PATH variable is: PATH=/opt/local/bin:/opt/local/sbin:/opt/local/bin:/opt/local/sbin:/usr/bin:/bin:/usr/sbin:/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/X11/bin The is something fishy going on. It must be some stupid basic problem. Google says that there could be a problem with ruby-iconv library but I can not find/install this package using port or gem commands. Plese help.... what am I missing here?

  • Problems compiling peazip on OSX

    I'm having some problems with compiling Peazip on OSX (10.6). I emailed the Peazip developer and he said he probably couldn't help me too much as the error seems to be OSX specific and he doesn't have access to an OSX machine any more. The compiler I'm using is Lazarus as the source is in Pascal.   • Need help troubleshooting why Solr wont start (or why solr admin page wont show)

    I can't get Solr working. I have Jetty, and my server OS is Ubuntu 9.10. It is a VPS server. So, when I execute the java -jar start.jar everything seems fine. I even do a netstat to check if there are any listeners on the port before the start and after the start, and it seems solr is starting. However, I cant access the admin page. I have even turned off the firewall. Here is some info about my server: I have changed DocumentRoot to var/www/SV/ I have Apache2, PHP5, MySql installed I have "disabled" iptables firewall I have removed the htaccess files (I used them to passw protect my site under develop) I have installed JRE (NOT JDK) on my server. I use the "example" which comes with Solr, so I use Jetty as container on my Server. My Server has 768MB RAM Doing a java -version command shows this: java version "1.6.0_15" Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_15-b03) Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 14.1-b02, mixed mode) And in the terminal the last lines when executing start.jar is: May 29, 2010 1:30:03 PM org.apache.solr.core.SolrCore registerSearcher INFO: [] Registered new searcher Searcher@1dc64a5 main NOTE: Also before this last line, there is a line which makes me suspicious: Started SocketConnector @ 0.0.0.0:8983 // Should this be with leading zeros?   • how could installations/configurations be easier in linux?

    although you can do anything in linux it tends to require a lot of tweaking in config files and reading a lot of manuals/tutorials before you can have it running in your way. i know that it gets a lot easier by time, and the apt-get installations with ubuntu/debian is heading the right way. but how can linux be more userfriendly for us in the future? i thought that if more is automated like an IDE environment, eg. typing svn will give us all the commands and description about each command when you move between commands with your keyboard. that would be great. but that's just one example. another is the navigation in the terminal between folders. now you have to type a lot just to jump from/to different folders. would be great with some more automatization here too. i know that these extra features will slow down the server, but its 2010 now, and these features are not that heavy for the cpu, but makes it more userfriendly and encourage maintainance of a server, not frighten u off. what do you think about this? should/could we have more user friendly linux environment in servers, something that has annoyed you a lot? a lot of things are done in the unix way, but maybe we should reinvent the wheel in some areas, cause apparently, its so...repeatingly today and difficult to do easy tasks. it should be easier i think..

I've searched libsvm's docs and code, but I can't find any way to turn this off.

    Hi, I face some difficulties when adding a framework to my project when i run an iPhone app from the command line. My final goal is to run applications tests from an automated build process. When i run my app from xCode : I add a "Copy File" build phase to my target and everything goes fine. The copy is set to $(BUILT_PRODUCTS_DIR) as "Absolute path" When i run my app from the terminal (using iphonesim project) i get this error : dyld: Library not loaded: @rpath/OCMock.framework/Versions/A/OCMock UIKitApplication:indemnisation[0xb894][26380] Referenced from: /Users/Admin/Library/Application Support/iPhone Simulator/User/Applications/CD5729B5-A674-49B2-91F6-AD398094B6F8/indemINT.app/indemINT What i dont understand is that the copy build phase just copies the framework files in the same directory that the app. When i run the app from the command line the framework files are already in the same directory. Does anyone knows why it doesn't work ?     I've read Vimdiff and Viewing differences with Vimdiff plus doing various google searches using things like "vimdiff multiple", "vimdiff git", "vimdiff commands" etc. When using do or diffg I get the error "More than two buffers in diff mode, don't know which one to use". When using diffg v:fname_in I get "No matching buffer for v:fname_in". From the vimdiff documentation: :[range]diffg[et] [bufspec] Modify the current buffer to undo difference with another buffer. If [bufspec] is given, that buffer is used. If [bufspec] refers to the current buffer then nothing happens. Otherwise this only works if there is one other buffer in diff mode. and more: When 'diffexpr' is not empty, Vim evaluates to obtain a diff file in the format mentioned. These variables are set to the file names used: v:fname_in original file v:fname_new new version of the same file v:fname_out resulting diff file So, I need to get the name of bufspec, but the default variables (fname_in, fname_new, and fname_out) aren't set. I ran the command git mergetool on a linux box through a terminal. [Edit] A partial solution that bred more questions. I used the "filename" at the bottom of the buffer. It's only a half answer, because occasionally I get a file does not exist error. I believe it's consistently the remote version of the file that "does not exist". I suspect this has something to do with git and indexing. How do you get the bufspec value consistently while using vimdiff through git-mergetool?

  • Zend Framework: How to start PHPUnit testing Forms?

    I am having trouble getting my filters/validators to work correctly on my form, so I want to create a Unit test to verify that the data I am submitting to my form is being filtered and validated correctly. Now it says it can't find another class. I include that one and try it again. Then it says it can't find another class, and another class, and so on. I have all of these dependencies on all these other Zend_Form classes. What should I do? How should I go about testing my Form to make sure my Validators and Filters are being attached correctly, and that it's doing what I expect it to do. Or am I thinking about this the wrong way?

  • Running job in the background from Perl WITHOUT waiting for return

    The Disclaimer First of all, I know this question (or close variations) have been asked a thousand times. I really spent a few hours looking in the obvious and the not-so-obvious places, but there may be something small I'm missing. The Context Let me define the problem more clearly: I'm writing a newsletter app in which I want the actual sending process to be async. As in, user clicks "send", request returns immediately and then they can check the progress in a specific page (via AJAX, for example). It's written in your traditional LAMP stack. In the particular host I'm using, PHP's exec() and system() are disabled for security reasons, but Perl's system functions (exec, system and backticks) aren't. So my workaround solution was to create a "trigger" script in Perl that calls the actual sender via the PHP CLI, and redirects to the progress page. Where I'm Stuck The very line the calls the sender is, as of now: system("php -q sender.php &"); Problem being, it's not returning immediately, but waiting for the script to finish. I want it to run in the background but the system call itself returns right away. I also tried running a similar script in my Linux terminal, and in fact the prompt doesn't show until after the script has finished, even though my test output doesn't run, indicating it's really running in the background. What I already tried Perl's exec() function - same result of system(). Changing the command to: "php -q sender.php | at now"), hoping that the "at" daemon would return and that the PHP process itself wouldn't be attached to Perl. What should I try now?

    I'm triying to compile my iPhone app from ssh. This is for my build tool that run in another machine. The base sdk is iPhone Device 3.0. The error is : "Couldn't load plug-in 'com.apple.Xcode.iPhoneSupport'" However, executing from the regular terminal run ok. Also directly from xcode.
