• How to customise the TextView inside a Spinner?

  I have a Spinner with an ArrayAdapter that feeds Values into it. The Problem is that the text is to long for the view and the result is a very very ugly spinner. As can be seen in the screenshot: I tried to pass the Id of my own TextView into the Adapter but everytime the spinner should be shown I get an Exception that the Id I supplied is not valid: 04-26 17:38:39.695: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(4276): android.content.res.Resources$NotFoundException: Resource ID #0x7f09003a type #0x12 is not valid Where do I have to define the TextView? In a separate xml file? With a surrounding viewgroup? It would help me a lot if I could see an example of the adapter initialization and the textview definition?

• Optimizing BeautifulSoup (Python) code

  I have code that uses the BeautifulSoup library for parsing, but it is very slow. The code is written in such a way that threads cannot be used. Can anyone help me with this? I am using BeautifulSoup for parsing and than save into a DB. • How to correctly load 32-bit DLL dependencies when running a program from a batch file

  I have written a tool that references Microsoft.TeamFoundation.VersionControl.Client.dll, which is a 32-bit DLL. When I build my tool on 64-bit Windows, I set Visual Studio to specifically target X86 in order to force it to a 32-bit build. Targetting X86 instead of All-CPU's prevents me from getting a BadImageFormatException, as long as I invoke the tool directly (e.g. by typing "myTool.exe" on the command line). However, if I run a batch file that invokes the tool, I still get the exception. This happens even if the batch file runs in a 32-bit command prompt (%WINDIR%\SysWOW64\cmd.exe). What else can I do to make this work?

  Hy I'v a little problem with hibernate on netbeans. I've a table with an Auto increment id : CREATE TABLE "DVD" ( "DVD_ID" INT not null primary key GENERATED ALWAYS AS IDENTITY (START WITH 1, INCREMENT BY 1), "TITLE" VARCHAR(150), "COM" LONG VARCHAR, "COVER" VARCHAR(150) ); But this auto increment is not properly detected with Reverse Engineering. I get a map file with this : <id name="dvdId" type="int"> <column name="DVD_ID" /> <generator class="assigned" /> </id> i've looked on google and on this site ... foud some stuf but i'm still stuck.. i've tried to add insert="false" update="false" on the map file but i get back : Caused by: org.xml.sax.SAXParseException: Attribute "insert" must be declared for element type "id". • SQL Query - 20mil records - Best practice to return information

  I have a SQL database that has the following table: Table: PhoneRecords ID(identity Seed) FirstName LastName PhoneNumber ZipCode Very simple straight forward table. This table has over 20million records. I am looking for the best way to do queries that pull out records based off area codes from the table. For instance here is an example query that I have done. SELECT phonenumber, firstname FROM [PhoneRecords] WHERE (phone LIKE '2012042%') OR (phone LIKE '2012046%') OR (phone LIKE '2012047%') OR (phone LIKE '2012083%') OR (phone LIKE '2012088%') OR (phone LIKE '2012841%') As you can see this is an ugly query, but it would get the job done (if I wasn't running into timeout issues) Can anyone tell me the best way for speed/optimization to do the above query to display the results? Currently that query above takes around 2 hours to complete on a 9gb 1600mhz ram, i7 930 quadcore OC'd 4.01ghz. I obviously have the computer power required to do such a query, but still takes too long for queries.

• Keypress event on inserted span (jQuery)

  Hi, I've been researching for a long time, and haven't found a possible solution. The problem I have is that I'm trying to attach an event handler to an span element just inserted. So basically the problem is, when a user performs a particular action that I set (clicking a button by example) I call this function: function AppendSpan() { $('#mydiv').append('<span id="someid" contenteditable="true">Some TExt</span>'); //Then I want to handle the keypress event on the inserted span $('#someid').keypress(function(event){//Do something here}); } The problem is that the keypress event is never triggered on the inserted span, I tried with the click event and it works fine, but not the keypress or keydown,keyup events. I also tried with $('span').live("keypress",function(event){//Do something}); but didn't work. Any suggestions would be appreciated, I need this to work only in FF, so no support for IE required.

I found a great comparison of the two database at http://www.amsoftwaredesign.com/pg_vs_fb But this comparison is a good 2+ years old and both databases have come a long ways since. Does anyone mind updating the comparison table to be relevant for the current versions of both Firebird and Postgres ... or have a link to a site that does a good recent comparison between the two database?

• SQL Agent Job - to execute as queue

  I have a job which is calling 10 other jobs using sp_start_job. The job is having 10 steps, each step calling each sub jobs, When i execute the main job, i can see it started with step 1 and in a few secods it shows 'finished successfully' But the jobs take long time time, and when i see the log mechanism i have put inside , it shows the all the 10 steps are running simultaniously at the back, till it finishes after few hours. My requirement is, it should finish step 1 first and then only step2 should start. aNY HELP PLS ?

• How do I send a file as an email attachment using Linux command line?

  I've created a script that runs every night on my Linux server that uses mysqldump to back up each of my MySQL databases to .sql files and packages them together as a compressed .tar file. The next step I want to accomplish is to send that tar file through email to a remote email server for safekeeping. I've been able to send the raw script in the body an email by piping the backup text file to mailx like so: $ cat mysqldbbackup.sql | mailx [email protected] cat echoes the backup file's text which is piped into the mailx program with the recipient's email address passed as an argument. While this accomplishes what I need, I think it could be one step better, Is there any way, using shell scripts or otherwise, to send the compressed .tar file to an outgoing email message as an attachment? This would beat having to deal with very long email messages which contain header data and often have word-wrapping issues etc.

  Hi all, I have a small piece of code which basically impements a HTTP-Client, i.e. it POSTS request and works with re RESPONSE. As long as HTTP is concenerned everthing work well. For some reason I now have to support HTTPS too. So here is briefly what I do in order to get a connection opened: URL url = new URL(serverAddress); HttpsURLConnection httpsConn = (HttpsURLConnection) url.openConnection(); This fails, stating: sun.net.www.protocol.https.HttpsURLConnectionImpl cannot be cast to com.sun.net.ssl.HttpsURLConnection I guess this is kinda trivial, but I just don't get what I'm doing wrong in this one...   I have an app that I want to interact with a web page. Basically I want to press a button and the web page will open in a new view... Sorry I wasn't clear, I am developing on a Mac for an iPhone. Currently I have a "locate me" app that displays your Latitude and Longitude. I want to use those variables to populate 2 of the blanks on a PHP web page/form I have developed. I have added a label and button to my current app, when the button is pressed the URL with the Lat and Long (as passed vars) are displayed in the label. I want those vars to appear on my web page. Hope this is clearer... • How can I see who in my team are writing the most code and who is writing the least using TFS?

  I am having a problem with one of my team members output. He seems to be always 'busy' yet I am unable to see exactly what code he has done and he seems be delivering very little and it seems to take a long time to do so. I'd like to investigate further using TFS and was wondering if there is any functionality in TFS that shows what has been written by an individual or similar? • Get newly created window using Win32 API hooks

  This may be a long short or not even possible but no harm in asking. What I am trying to do is monitor an application for any new windows it creates in its MDI control. I have implemented hooking in C# and can capture the MDICREATE window message but because I need to get information about the window after is has been created the MDICREATE message isn't much help because at that stage the window hasn't been created in the other application yet. Without going into to much detail I just need to be able to see when a new window has been created. Is this possible? Thanks

Also, I want to set attribute one by one. I can't think of if my array change to 10*10. How long it could be. So, I hope you guys can give me some suggestions on shorten the code, and more readable. thz

  Hello, I need to split long string into a array with following constrains: Each part will have a limited number of character (e.g. not more than 8000 character) Each part can contain multiple sentences (delimited by . [full stop]) but never a partial sentences. Except if the last part of the string (as last part may not have any full stop. The string may contain HTML tags. But the tag can not be divided as ( to ). That means HTML tag should be intact. But starting tag and ending tag can be stay on different segment/chunk. I think regular expression with preg_split can do it. • Question regarding CGRectIntersectsRect and rotated rectangular image

  Hi guys, I've got a long rectangular image which is rotated at different kind of angles. However the frame of the rectangular image does not rotate along with the image and instead, the rotation causes the frame to to become larger to fit the rotated image. So when I used CGRectIntersectsRect, the collision detection is totally off because the other image colliding with the rectangular image will collide before it even reaches the visible area of the rect image. In case you don't really know what I'm talking about, have a look at the ascii drawing: normal rectangular image frame, O - pixels, |, – - frame |----------| |OOOOOOOOOO| |----------| after rotation |----------| |O | | O | | O | | O | | O | | O | | O | | O | | O | |----------| I've read through some of the collision articles but all of them are talking about collision with a normal straight rectangle and what I really want is collision with a slanted image, preferably pixel collision detection. • Drive space hungry NoSQL's databases

  I've tested NoSQL databases like CouchDB, MongoDB and Cassandra and observed tendence to absorbing very large amount of drive space relative to inserted key-value pairs. When comparing CouchDB and MySQL schemaless databases CouchDB is consuming much more drive space than MySQL. I know about that key-value DBs by default are versioning and have long uuid and need key optimalisation - the comparison was between about 15 mln rows in MySQL and 1-5 mln documents listed NoSQL DB's. My question is : Is there any NoSQL with good compaction / compression of data? So that I can have NoSQL database with a size closer to 5GB than 50GB?

• Trying to get distinct values from two List<int> objects

  I have 2 List objects: List<int> lst1 = new List<int>(); List<int> lst2 = new List<int>(); Let's say they have values: lst1.Add(1); lst1.Add(2); lst1.Add(3); lst1.Add(4); lst2.Add(1); lst2.Add(4); I need to get an object containing the "distinct" list of both of these; so in this case the return would be List {2, 3}. Is there an easy way to do this? Or do I need to iterate through each value of the lists and compare? I am open to using ObjectQuery, LINQ, etc as these lists are coming from a database, and could potentially be several hundred to several thousand entries long. Thanks!

  Straight forward question: Is there an advantage or disadvantage to concatenating variables within strings or using curly braces instead? Concatenated: $greeting = "Welcome, ".$name."!"; Curly braces: $greeting = "Welcome, {$name}!"; Personally, I've always concatenated my strings because I use UEStudio and it highlights PHP variables a different color when concatenated. However, when the variable is not broken out, it does not. It just makes it easier for my eyes to find PHP variables in long strings, etc. EDIT: People are confusing this about being about SQL. This is not what this question is about. I've updated my examples to avoid confusion.

  The output from MongoDB's map/reduce includes something like 'counts': {'input': I, 'emit': E, 'output': O}. I thought I clearly understand what those mean, until I hit a weird case which I can't explain. According to my understanding, counts.input is the number of rows that match the condition (as specified in query). If so, how is it possible that the following two queries have different results? db.mycollection.find({MY_CONDITION}).count() db.mycollection.mapReduce(SOME_MAP, SOME_REDUCE, {'query': {MY_CONDITION}}).counts.input I thought the two should always give the same result, independent of the map and reduce functions, as long as the same condition is used.
