  • How can I structure my MustacheJS template to add dynamic classes based on the values from a JSON file?

    - by JGallardo
    OBJECTIVE To build an app that allows the user to search for locations. CURRENT STATE At the moment the locations listed are few, so they are just all presented when landing on the "dealers" page. BACKGROUND Previously there were only about 50 showrooms carrying a product we sell, so a static HTML page was fine. And displays as But the page size grew to about 1500 lines of code after doing this. We have gotten more and need a scalable solution so that we can add many more dealers fast. In other projects, I have previously used MustacheJS and to load in values from a JSON file. I know the ideally this will be an AJAX application. Perhaps I might be better off with database here? Below is what I have in mind so far, and it "works" up to a certain point, but seems not to be anywhere near the most sustainable solution that can be efficiently scaled. HTML <a id="{{state}}"></a> <div> <h4>{{dealer}} : {{city}}, {{state}} {{l_type}}</h4> <div class="{{icon_class}}"> <ul> <li><i class="icon-map-marker"></i></li> <li><i class="icon-phone"></i></li> <li><i class="icon-print"></i></li> </ul> </div> <div class="listingInfo"> <p>{{street}} <br>{{suite}}<br> {{city}}, {{state}} {{zip}}<br> Phone: {{phone}}<br> {{toll_free}}<br> {{fax}} </p> </div> </div> <hr> JSON { "dealers" : [ { "dealer":"Benco Dental", "City":"Denver", "state":"CO", "zip":"80112", "l_type":"Showroom", "icon_class":"listingIcons_3la", "phone":"(303) 790-1421", "toll_free":null, "fax":"(303) 790-1421" }, { "dealer":"Burkhardt Dental Supply", "City":"Portland", "state":"OR", "zip":"97220", "l_type":"Showroom", "icon_class":"listingIcons", "phone":" (503) 252-9777", "toll_free":"(800) 367-3030", "fax":"(866) 408-3488" } ]} CHALLENGES The CSS class wrapping the ul will vary based on how many fields there are. In this case there are 3, so the class is "listingIcons_3la" The "toll free" number section should only show up if in fact, there is a toll free number. the fax number should only show up if there is a value for a fax number.

  • jQuery server ping slowly but surely filling memory?

    - by danspants
    I use the following piece of code to test if our server is running whilst the user is in a page. I've also started adding other functions that grab small amounts of data that are constantly changing and are to be relayed to the user (Files waiting for download, messages, reports etc). I've noticed recently that if I leave any page open (all pages contain the same function), the browser takes up more and more system memory which I can only attribute to this regular task (overnight it reached 1.6 gb). Is there some way of clearing out the data that is being accumulated? Is this normal behaviour? As far as i can tell, every time I call the function it should overwrite the previously retrieved data? function testServer(){ jQuery.ajax({ type:"HEAD", url:"/media/d_arrow_blue.png", error: function(msg) { jQuery.jGrowl("Server Disconnected"); } }); //retrieves count of files awaiting download - move to seperate function jQuery.get("/get_files/",{"type":"count"},function(data) { jQuery("#downloadList").children("div").text(data); }); }; jQuery().doTimeout(6000,function() { testServer(); return true; });

  • Scroll to anchor

    - by ZyX
    I have the following userjs which is intended to remove anchor part of the URL but still jump to it: // ==UserScript== // @name PurgeAnchor // @include * // ==/UserScript== (function() { var reg=/^(.*)\#(.*)$/; var match=reg.exec(location); function ObjectPosition(obj) { var curtop = 0; if(obj.offsetParent) while(1) { curtop += obj.offsetTop; if(!obj.offsetParent) break; obj = obj.offsetParent; } else if(obj.y) curtop += obj.y; return curtop; } if(match) { document.location.replace(match[1]); sessionStorage.setItem("anchor", match[2]); } window.addEventListener("load", (function() { var anchor=sessionStorage.getItem("anchor"); if(anchor!==null) { var obj=document.getElementById(anchor); if(obj===null) { obj=document.getElementsByName(anchor)[0]; } var pos=0; if(obj!==null) { pos=ObjectPosition(obj); window.scrollTo(0, pos); } sessionStorage.removeItem("anchor"); } }), false); })() The problem is that if I have an empty <a> tag with the name set, it fails to jump. obj.scrollIntoView() also fails.   • Drawing half of a Bezier path in Raphael

    - by Fibericon
    Let's say I have a cubic Bezier path as follows (formatted for use with the Raphael path function): M55 246S55 247 55 248 Just an example. This was taken from my drawing application, where I use the cursor to draw a line when the user holds the mouse button down, kind of like a pencil or marker. I'm using jquery's mousemove event to draw the line between two points every time the user moves the mouse. There is another (the reference point) that is taken before the line is drawn, so that the Bezier curve can be created. Here's my question: is it possible to make Raphael only draw half of a given path? I'm aware of the getSubpath() function, but if my understanding of Bezier curves is correct, it would be rather difficult to calculate the second argument. The problem with the animate function is that it creates double lines (that is, it creates the curved line that I want, and the boxy line around it which should not be shown, possibly because the mouse is being moved faster than the animation can handle). Of course, if my approach itself is flawed in some way (or my understanding of the possible solutions), I'd like to hear it. Any help would be appreciated.

  • Coloring text with css using jQuery

    - by ArtWorkAD
    Hi, I have a little problem adding a class to a span element and so coloring it in order to perform simple validation. Here is my js: function validateKey(){ var length = $('#appkey').val().length; if(length != 8){ $('#appkey').addClass('error'); $('#appKeyInfo').addClass('error'); return false; }else{ $('#appkey').removeClass('error'); $('#appKeyInfo').removeClass('error'); return true; } } And html: <label>KEY</label></br> <input type="text" id="appkey" value=""/></br> <span id="appKeyInfo">Dein App-Key aus 8 Ziffern</span> And the jsfiddle: example Any ideas? UPDATE: coloring of appKeyInfo fails, coloring appkey works. When I remove color:red and type font-weight:bold instead the text is bold on error. when I remove color definition of appKeyInfo the text can be colored red on error, strange thing, but I need a font color for the appKeyInfo

  • How can I detect when a file download has completed in ASP.NET?

  • How to save a HTMLElement (Table) in localStorage?

    - by Hagbart Celine
    I've been trying this for a while now and could not find anything online... I have a project, where tablerows get added to a table. Works fine. Now I want to save the Table in the localStorage, so I can load it again. (overwrite the existing table). function saveProject(){ //TODO: Implement Save functionality var projects = []; projects.push($('#tubes table')[0].innerHTML); localStorage.setItem('projects', projects); //console.log(localStorage.getItem('projects')); The problem is the Array "projects" has (after one save) 2000+ elements. But all I want is the whole table to be saved to the first (or appending later) index. In the end I want the different Saves to be listed on a Option element: function loadSaveStates(){ alert('loading saved states...'); var projects = localStorage.getItem('projects'); select = document.getElementById('selectSave'); //my Dropdown var length = projects.length, element = null; console.log(length); for (var i = 0; i < length; i++) { element = projects[i]; var opt = document.createElement('option'); opt.value = i; opt.innerHTML = 'project ' + i; select.appendChild(opt); } } Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong?

  • Using the Module Pattern for larger projects

    - by Rob
    I'm interested in using the Module Pattern to better organize my future projects. Unfortunately, there are only a few brief tutorials and proof-of-concept examples of the Module Pattern. Using the module pattern, I would like to organize projects into this sort of structure: project.arm.object.method(); Where "project" is my global project name, "arm" is a sub-section or branch of the project, "object" is an individual object, and so on to the methods and properties. However, I'm not sure how I should be declaring and organizing multiple "arms" and "objects" under "project". var project = window.project || {}; project.arm = project.arm || {}; project.arm.object = (function() { var privateVar = "Private contents."; function privateMethod() { alert(privateVar); } return { method: privateMethod }; }()); Are there any best practices or conventions when defining a complex module structure? Should I just declare a new arm/object underneath the last?

  • How to create nested directories in PhoneGap

    - by Stallman
    I have tried on this, but this didn't satisfy my request at all. I write a new one: var file_system; var fs_root; window.requestFileSystem(LocalFileSystem.PERSISTENT, 1024*1024, onInitFs, request_FS_fail); function onInitFs(fs) { file_system= fs; fs_root= file_system.root; alert("ini fs"); create_Directory(); alert("ini fs done."); } var string_array; var main_dir= "story_repository/"+ User_Editime; string_array= new Array("story_repository/",main_dir, main_dir+"/rec", main_dir+"/img","story_repository/"+ User_Name ); function create_Directory(){ var start= 0; var path=""; while(start < string_array.length) { path = string_array[start]; alert(start+" th created directory " +" is "+ path); fs_root.getDirectory ( path , {create: true, exclusive: false}, function(entry) { alert(path +"is created."); }, create_dir_err() ); start++; }//while loop }//create_Directory function create_dir_err() { alert("Recursively create directories error."); } function request_FS_fail() { alert("Failed to request File System "); } Although the directories are created, the it sends me ErrorCallback:"alert("Recursively create directories error.");" Firstly, I don't think this code will work since I have tried on this: This one failed: window.requestFileSystem( LocalFileSystem.PERSISTENT, 0, //request file system success callback. function(fileSys) { fileSys.root.getDirectory( "story_repository/"+ dir_name, {create: true, exclusive: false}, //Create directory story_repository/Stallman_time. function(directory) { alert("Create directory: "+ "story_repository/"+ dir_name); //create dir_name/img/ fileSys.root.getDirectory { "story_repository/"+ dir_name + "/img/", {create: true, exclusive: false}, function(directory) { alert("Create a directory: "+ "story_repository/"+ dir_name + "/img/"); //check. //create dir_name/rec/ fileSys.root.getDirectory { "story_repository/"+ dir_name + "/rec/", {create: true, exclusive: false}, function(directory) { alert("Create a directory: "+ "story_repository/"+ dir_name + "/rec/"); //check. //Go ahead. }, createError } //create dir_name/rec/ }, createError } //create dir_name/img }, createError); }, //Create directory story_repository/Stallman_time. createError()); } I just repeatedly call fs.root.getDirectory only but it failed. But the first one is almost the same... 1. What is the problem at all? Why does the first one always gives me the ErrorCallback? 2. Why can't the second one work? 3. Does anyone has a better solution?(no ErrorcallBack msg) ps: I work on Android and PhoneGap 1.7.0.

  • Is there any web service for getting tidal information?

    - by thor
    Has anyone come across a web service or plugin/code/calculation for getting information on tides - namely high and low tide times? I only need this information for one location (outwith the US) but I need it on an ongoing basis so a web service that I can hit once a day or something would be ideal.

  • How to display part of an image for the specific width and height?

    - by Brady Chu
    Recently I participated in a web project which has a huge large of images to handle and display on web page, we know that the width and height of images end users uploaded cannot be control easily and then they are hard to display. At first, I attempted to zoom in/out the images to rearch an appropriate presentation, and I made it, but my boss is still not satisfied with my solution, the following is my way: var autoResizeImage = function(maxWidth, maxHeight, objImg) { var img = new Image(); img.src = objImg.src; img.onload = function() { var hRatio; var wRatio; var Ratio = 1; var w = img.width; var h = img.height; wRatio = maxWidth / w; hRatio = maxHeight / h; if (maxWidth == 0 && maxHeight == 0) { Ratio = 1; } else if (maxWidth == 0) { if (hRatio < 1) { Ratio = hRatio; } } else if (maxHeight == 0) { if (wRatio < 1) { Ratio = wRatio; } } else if (wRatio < 1 || hRatio < 1) { Ratio = (wRatio <= hRatio ? wRatio : hRatio); } if (Ratio < 1) { w = w * Ratio; h = h * Ratio; } w = w <= 0 ? 250 : w; h = h <= 0 ? 370 : h; objImg.height = h; objImg.width = w; }; }; This way is only intended to limit the max width and height for the image so that every image in album still has different width and height which are still very urgly. And right at this minute, I know we can create a DIV and use the image as its background image, this way is too complicated and not direct I don't want to take. So I's wondering whether there is a better way to display images with the fixed width and height without presentation distortion? Thanks.

  • DOM memory issue with IE8 (inserting lots of JSON data)

    - by okie.floyd
    i am developing a small web-utility that displays some data from some database tables. i have the utility running fine on FF, Safari, Chrome..., but the memory management on IE8 is horrendous. the largest JSON request I do will return information to create around 5,000 or so rows in a table within the browser (3 columns in the table). i'm using jquery to get the data (via getJSON). to remove the old/existing table, i'm just doing a $('#my_table_tbody').empty(). to add the new info to the table, within the getJSON callback, i am just appending each table row that i am creating to a variable, and then once i have them all, i am using $('#my_table_tbody').append(myVar) to add it to the existing tbody. i don't add the table rows as they are created because that seems to be a lot slower than just adding them all at once. does anyone have any recommendation on what someone should do who is trying to add thousands of rows of data to the DOM? i would like to stay away from pagination, but i'm wondering if i don't have a choice. Update 1 So here is the code I was trying after the innerHTML suggestion: /* Assuming a div called 'main_area' holds the table */ document.getElementById('main_area').innerHTML = ''; $.getJSON("my_server", {my: JSON, args: are, in: here}, function(j) { var mylength = j.length; var k =0; var tmpText = ''; tmpText += /* Add the table, thead stuff, and tbody tags here */; for (k = mylength - 1; k = 0; k--) { /* stack overflow wont let me type greater than & less than signs here, so just assume that they are there. */ tmpText += 'tr class="' + j[k].row_class . '" td class="col1_class" ' + j[k].col1 + ' /td td class="col2_class" ' + j[k].col2 + ' /td td class="col3_class" ' + j[k].col3 + ' /td /tr'; } document.getElementById('main_area').innerHTML = tmpText; } That is the gist of it. I've also tried using just a $.get request, and having the server send the formatted HTML, and just setting that in the innerHTML (i.e. document.getElementById('main_area').innerHTML = j;). thanks for all of the replies. i'm floored with the fact that you all are willing to help.

  • How to catch GMail auto-refresh

    - by nameanyone
    I wrote a userscript to highlight the current row in GMail (indicated by the arrow). Unfortunately the highlight will only stay until GMail Inbox is auto-refreshed, which happens quite often. Is there a way to catch that event so I could reapply the highlighting? I don't want to do it on timeout. There is another userscript that does that and it loads up CPU.

    Hi all, In Google Chrome after pressing enter key in WYMEDITOR a new is created. How to change it? I would rather insert tag as it happens after shift-enter combination. (In fact shif-enter creates two ). Similar question concerns backspace pressed on the beginning of paragraph. How to change this behaviour to erase paragraph (or other) only when it is empty and do nothing otherwise. I'll be greatful for any hints.
