• PHP 2d array question

  Hello, So i have a 2 dimensional array that is used over several pages (session) $_SESSION ["Table"][$_SESSION ["count"]] [0] = $filename; $_SESSION ["Table"][$_SESSION ["count"]] [1] = $size; $_SESSION ["Table"][$_SESSION ["count"]] [2] = $floor; $_SESSION ["Table"][$_SESSION ["count"]] [3] = $phone; $_SESSION ["Table"][$_SESSION ["count"]] [4] = $network; $_SESSION ["Table"][$_SESSION ["count"]] [5] = $totalprice; This is used with a form so i can give in multiple input wich gets stored. But my question is how exactly can i calculate the AVERAGE of $total price of all given in results? Meaning for example i have 5 rows so this would mean 5 total prices. How exactly can i acces this value and count everything up / 5? This will happen in a other page so i would like to use sessions for this. /5 simply by count($_Session["table"]) , but really not sure about the other values. Kind Regards.

  I'm creating a PDF file from a txt-template with tcpdf ([Example 8][1]). The txt-template looks like this: SALUTATION FIRSTNAME LASTNAME STREET CURRENTDATE SOMEMOREINFORMATION MYWEBSITE I replace those markers with the correct value. So that it would look like this: Mr. John Doe Downingstreet 10 14th May, 2010 [email protected] www.stackoverflow.com In this example, when I replace the values, the indention of the date is dependent on the length of the street name (which I don't want). I could solve this issue with str_pad but the problem is, I normally use three columns and there are lines which only have content in col1 and col3 as in the last line. How can I solve that problem? Is there something like the "overwrite" function in Word, that when you write, the text just gets overwritten? Thanks in advance.

  Hi, i asked some time ago on an account i cant remember how to manipulate basic pointers and someone gave me a really good demo for example char *ptr = "hello" (hello = a char array) so now *ptr is pointing at h ptr++ = moves the ptr to point at the next element, to get its value i do *ptr and that gives me e ok so far i hope :D but now i need to manipulate a char **ptr and was wondering how I do this in a way that mimmicks the effects of a 2d array? some basic tips would be much appreciated as I need to do an assignment that has a **ptr to imitate a 2d array and without knowing how it does this first means I cant even solve it on paper (for example, how do you dereference a **ptr, how do you get [x][y] values etc) thanks

• Put specific tds from a table row into edit using jQuery (then update w/ ajax)

  I'm somewhat new to jQuery, so I could use some help here. This is my issue: I have a php script outputting a dynamic table. Each row has an "edit" button, plus some other fields. Only 3 of those need to be turned into an input box. The edit button should only put that specific row into "edit mode." I got as far as assigning each row a unique class by adding a number to the end of it. I have been able to use jQuery to change all of the rows into edit mode, but I need it to be specific to a row. An example row would have classes like name0, price0, and desc0. The next row would go on to classes name1, price1, and desc1 (for the fields that need changed). How can I reference these values and pass them to jQuery so it processes an event on just those elements?

• C# type safe and developer friendly list/collection technique

  I am populating a "Dictionary" with the results of an sp call. The key is the field name and the value is whatever value the sp returns for the field. This is all well and good but I'd like developers to have a predefined list of keys to access this list, for safety and documentation reasons. What I'd like to do is have something like an enum as a key for the dictionary so developers can safely access the list, but still have the ability to access the dictionary with a string key value. I am hoping to have a list of string values that I can access with an enum key AND a string key. Please make sure any suggestions are simple to implement, this is not the kind of thing I'm willing to build a lot of overhead to implement.

[Query]: Why and how are these values inferred? I mean why specifically have only 32 or 64 bit pointers? The diagram says, One data block{8 KB} for each pointer {4 bytes/8 bytes} [Query]: How does this actually work out? i.e. 8*1024 bytes / 8 bytes = 1024 bytes?   I have a class method that deals with dates: public function setAvailability(DateTime $start, DateTime $end){ } Since item availability can have lower limit, upper limit, both or none, I'd like to make setAvailability() accept NULL values as well. However, the NULL constant violates the type hinting: $foo->setAvailability(NULL, $end); triggers: Catchable fatal error: Argument 1 passed to Foo::setAvailability() must be an instance of DateTime, null given And, as far as I know, I cannot have a DateTime instance with no value. (Can I?) For a reason I cannot grasp, this seems to work: public function setAvailability(DateTime $start=NULL, DateTime $end=NULL){ } ... $foo->setAvailability(NULL, $end); But it looks like a hack that works by pure chance. How would you deal with unset dates in PHP classes?

• What is the correct way of handling a reloaded view after it was dismissed?

  Hi, I have the same problem as the guy here: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2682844/uiimagepickercontroller-reloads-view-after-its-dismissed I have a UIView with a UIDatePicker within a Popover. When the Popover is dismissed and presented again, it sometimes resets the Picker in the view because hidden views are unloaded when a memory warning occurs. This is the part displaying the view: endCompareDateTimePicker.picker.maximumDate = [NSDate dateWithTimeIntervalSinceNow:0]; [endCompareDateTimePopover presentPopoverFromRect:sender.frame inView:self.view permittedArrowDirections:UIPopoverArrowDirectionAny animated:YES]; The picker (IBOutlet UIDatePicker) does not stay initiated. Adding a [endCompareDateTimePicker loadView] helped out and got me the picker initiated to set the correct date values before displaying the view. While this is working, I dont think this is the proper way doing this. What would be the correct way to handle this situation?

  Using Javascript / jQuery, I'm trying to build a "combination checker" that will take the values of three (but can be more) dropdown lists and filter the options based on a supplied list of allowed combinations. For example: DROPDOWNS Field 1: - value_1 - value_2 Field 2: - value_3 Field 3: - value_4 - value_5 COMBINATIONS - value_1, value_3, value_5 - value_1, value_3, value_4 - value_2, value_3, value_5 When a user selects Field 3 - value_4, the unavailable options will be disabled - ie, Field 1 - value_2 (there is no combination that allows value_2 and value_4 to be selected together). It would be really great if someone could provide some pointers on how this can be achieved or just provide a fresh perspective - I'm going round in circles on this one!

  I want to separate an array of my custom object into several arrays, based on the values of their two properties. The struct looks like this: struct MyStruct { public string Person { get; set; } public string Command { get; set; } } Now, if I have an array with a few objects: {Person1, cmd1} {Person1, cmd3} {Person2, cmd3} {Person3, cmd2} {Person2, cmd4} I want to be able to place them into one array for each person, that lists all of the commands for that person: {Person1: cmd1, cmd3} {Person2: cmd3, cmd4} {Person3: cmd2} I hope I've made it clear with my descriptions. I would assume that there is an elegant way to do this with LINQ, but I have no idea where to start.

• UIWebview isn't displaying content I want it to display

  In my app I have a UIWebView which loads different rtf files. I use this function to load these files: - (void)loadFile:(NSString*)file { NSString* resourcePath = [[NSBundle mainBundle] resourcePath]; NSString* sourceFilePath = [resourcePath stringByAppendingPathComponent:file]; NSURL* url = [NSURL fileURLWithPath:sourceFilePath isDirectory:NO]; NSURLRequest* request = [NSURLRequest requestWithURL:url]; [webview loadRequest:request]; } The UIWebView displays nothing. When I enter the debugger, the file string value is which I need, but resourcePath and sourceFilePath values are "nil". What am I doing wrong? Thanks in advance!

• Rails -- Cant set value for date_select in form

  I'm pulling data from an API where the date data comes in as "2008-02-11 00:00:00 " I would like that data to go into my form within the date_select as a value so I can view it correctly before I add it into my database. The view looks like <%= f.label :start_date %><br /> <%= f.date_select :start_date, :value => " #{@stdate[idx]} " %> The object is actually an array of dates since I'm doing this action several times do thats why the [idx] is there; serving as an index. <%= @stdate[idx] % ends up outputting "2008-02-11 00:00:00 " but the fields for the date_select helper only outputs the current date "2010" "June" "5" in those dropdown date selects fields... Do I need to set the values of the Year, Month, and Date Individually? I have Chronic and tried to parse the object before using it as a value for the date_select and that didnt work either. Any ideas?

When using foreach() to iterate over an object, I get the following error: "Fatal error: Objects used as arrays in post/pre increment/decrement must return values by reference..."   I have the following Model: Entities: Product (Contains basic data for products: price, etc) Attribute (Contains data for all possible optional attributes) ProductAttribute (Contains data for optional attributes of a product, eg. Color, Model, Size). ProductAttribute is essentially a many to many relationship with payload (ProductId, AttributeID, Value) And this piece of code: private static void ListAttributes(Product p) { p.ProductAttributes.Load(); foreach (var att in p.ProductAttributes) { att.Attribute.load(); Console.WriteLine("\tAttribute Name:{0} - Value {1}", att.Attribute.Name, att.AttributeValue); } } This piece of code will fire a query for each time the att.Attribute.Load() method is called in the foreach loop, only so i can get display the name of the attribute. I would like to fetch the Attribute.Name together with the query that fetches all attribute values, i.e. join ProductAttribute and Attribute. Is there any way to achieve this within my method?

• Samsung Galaxy Tab 1 layout problems

  I'm having trouble running my app on the Galaxy tab original 7". It appears to make everything 1.5 times bigger, i.e. if I specify 40dip for a textSize in my layout, it will display as 60 dip when I run it on the tablet. I tried messing around with the display metrics and changing the density and densityDpi to 1. (When I run a toString of the display metrics in the Galaxy tab 2, they are both 1, whereas the Galaxy tab 1 has values of 1.5) The app runs very well on every phone I've tested it on, and on the Galaxy tab 2, so I can't figure out what the problem is. I even tried creating a dummy app with just a textView with a size of 40dip, and it still converted it to 60. Any ideas? Thanks.

  I am using the WebAPI with .NET 4.5. I have a enum called DareStatus which is a list of statuses and their corresponding integer ID's. To minimize bandwidth traffic I want to send the int values of the enums, not the full text as it is currently doing. (I have control over the client so I can map it on the clientside). • Deploying BlackBerry Applications Across Environments

  Has anyone come up with a good solution for deploying BlackBerry applications across different environments? My example is storing URLs and Authentication information in code. In most cases, a developer is going to have a different set of URL's to test against when developing the application vs what the end user is going to hit. The idea is when I go to build for production, I have something swap out the environment settings for the target environment vs manually replacing environment specific code each time. I am currently using eclipse. The only thought I've come up with so far would be to use a resource with encrypted values and have that swap when I run my build. Any ideas?

  I have a data structure with 15 unsigned longs, I have defined a hash function using hash_combine as follows: friend std::size_t hash_value(const TUPLE15& given) { std::size_t seed = 0; boost::hash_combine(seed, val1); boost::hash_combine(seed, val2); ... return seed; } I insert a large number of values into a boost::unordered_map but the performance is not good enough. Probably, I could do better with an alternative hashing function. To confirm this, I need to check how many collisions I am getting. How do I do this?
