Query to add a column depending of outcome of there columns

I have a user table 'users' that has fields like: id first_name last_name ... and have another table that determines relationships: user_id friend_id user_accepted friend_accepted .... I would like to generate a query that selects all the users but also add another field/column say 'network_status' that depends on the values of user_accepted and fiend_accepted. For example, if user_accepted is true friend_accepted is false I want the 'network_status' field to say 'request sent'. Can I possibly do this in one query? (I would prefer not to user if/else inside the query but if that's the only way so be it)

Ranged integers in .NET (or C#)

Am I being blind, or does the .NET framework not provide any kind of ranged integer class? That is, a type that would prevent you setting a value outside some given bounds that are not the full range of the basic data type. For example, an integer type that would restrict its values to between 1 and 100. Showing my age here, but back in '93, I remember using that sort of thing in Modula-2 (eeek!), but I've not seen explicit framework / language support for it since. Am I just missing something, or is it a case of "it's so simple to make your own that the framework doesn't bother"? Cheers.

Adding a new row in between rows in a grid view.

I have an ASP .net grid view. It has some template columns like a command button, a text box, and a dropdown control. When I click the command button, a new row needs to be inserted below the current row (from where I hit the command button). If I have rows 1 and 2 and I hit the command button in row1 a new row needs to be inserted between rows 1 and 2 Now in the new row I should be able to select values from dropdown and enter some value in a text box and finally hit my save button. (Which should work fine as I am expecting) The grid view is bound to some data source say for instance a datatable for now. Oneway that I could think about is when Command button is clicked, I can add a new row to the datatable in my server side code and rebind the grid. But I am not sure that, from a UI perspective how I can make sure that the new row goes exactly below the row from where I hit the command button. Any thoughts or comments?

Hello everyone, I am using SQL Server 2008 Enterprise. I am wondering why even a single delete statement of this store procedure will cause deadlock if executed by multiple threads at the same time? For the delete statement, Param1 is a column of table FooTable, Param1 is a foreign key of another table (refers to another primary key clustered index column of the other table). There is no index on Param1 itself for table FooTable. Writing to pointer out of bounds after malloc() not causing error

Hi, when I try the code below it works fine. Am I missing something? main() { int *p; p=malloc(sizeof(int)); printf("size of p=%d\n",sizeof(p)); p[500]=999999; printf("p[0]=%d",p[500]); return 0; } I tried it with malloc(0*sizeof(int)) or anything but it works just fine. The program only crashes when I don't use malloc at all. So even if I allocate 0 memory for the array p, it still stores values properly. So why am I even bothering with malloc then?

How can I keep doxygen from documenting #defines in a C file?

I have #define values in headers that I certainly want Doxygen to document but I have others in C files that I treat as static constants and I don't want Doxygen to document them. Something as simple and stupid as #define NUMBER_OF(a) (sizeof((a))/sizeof((a)[0])) #define MSTR(e) #e How can I keep Doxygen from putting those #defines in the documentation it creates? I've tried marking it with @internal but that didn't seem to help. A somewhat-related question on Doxygen and #define, how can I get: #define SOME_CONSTANT 1234 /**< An explanation */ to put "SOME_CONSTANT" and "An explanation" but not "1234" in the output?

I have tried initializing a variable in the index method of the books controller but get exactly the same results. Thanks in advance! BTW had to make the links text because of stackoverflow limit.

Basically, given this xml: <clubs> <club name="boca" position="1"> <field>bombonera</field> <field>bombonerita</field> </club> <club name="racing" position="19"> <field>cilindro</field> </club> </clubs> I create an element, $new = $clubs.CreateElement("Barracas") When I try to add this element to a non-root node i.e. $clubs.clubs.club += $new I get Cannot set "club" because only strings can be used as values to set XmlNode properties. I was wondering if it would be possible to have a define which changes values at some point in the code be used in a conditional. If it's not, would having a function like RenderWindow* getWindow() { return window; } and then calling if(Escape.isPressed()) getWindow()->close(); The best way to do it? I'd rather not go that route because the classes that are calling the key event are members of the class controlling the main loop and the window, so I'd have to set pointers to the containing class in the smaller classes to call getWindow() and it just seems like a more complicated method. But if I can't do it with preprocessor directives I'll just have to use pointers to the parent class.

At the moment I am adding the Button after the data is bound in Page_Load. The problem is that the data binding methods are not called in postbacks, so the Button disappears when I click on it. Any suggestions on how to do this? Problem is that I need to know some attributes of the grid item to create the Button, so I cannot create it before the data has been bound.

I have a SharePoint list I converted to XSLT to do some additional grouping and counting and percentages. I need to return the number of items = true within my nodeset, I have: <xsl:value-of select="count($nodeset/@PartnerArrivedAtCall)"/> (which returns the count of all the nodes) I have tried <xsl:value-of select="count($nodeset/@PartnerArrivedAtCall [@PartnerArrivedAtCall = 'Yes'])"/> (returns zero) and <xsl:variable name="ArrivedYes" select="$nodeset/@PartnerArrivedAtCall [@PartnerArrivedAtCall='Yes']"/> (also returns zero) Can you please give me a good example of how to count only the true values (in my XML, true = "Yes") Thanks!

Basic SQL query question

Hello, I have the following query: SELECT Base.ReportDate, Base.PropertyCode, Base.FirstName, Base.MiddleName, Base.LastName, Person.FirstName, Person.MiddleName, Person.LastName FROM LeaseT INNER JOIN Base ON LeaseT.LeaseID = Base.LeaseID INNER JOIN Person ON LeaseT.TenantID = Person.ID works fine, except there could be 0 to 'N' people in the 'Person' table for each record in the Base table, but I only want to return exactly 1 for each 'Base' record (doesn't matter which, but the one with the lowest Person.ID) would be a reasonable choice. If there is 0 rows in the person table, I still need to return the row, but with null values for the 'person' fields. How would I structure the SQL to do that? Thanks. Edit: Yes, the tables are probably not structured properly, but restructuring at this time is not possible - got to work with what is there.
