• WMI Remote Process Starting

  Scenario I've written a WMI Wrapper that seems to be quite sufficient, however whenever I run the code to start a remote process on a server, I see the process name appear in the task manager but the process itself does not start like it should (as in, I don't see the command line log window of the process that prints out what it's doing etc.) The process I am trying to start is just a C# application executable that I have written.   Before asking a separate question I've done lots of googling about it and added a comment in the already existing stackoverflow question. I have a SignalR Hub (tried both v. 1.1.3 and 2.0.0-rc) in my server with the below code: [HubName("TestHub")] public class TestHub : Hub { [Authorize] public void TestMethod(string test) { //some stuff here Clients.Caller.NotifyOnTestCompleted(); } } The problem persists if I remove the Authorize attribute. • Invalid or expired security context token in WCF web service

  All, I have a WCF web service (let's called service "B") hosted under IIS using a service account (VM, Windows 2003 SP2). The service exposes an endpoint that use WSHttpBinding with the default values except for maxReceivedMessageSize, maxBufferPoolSize, maxBufferSize and some of the time outs that have been increased. The web service has been load tested using Visual Studio Load Test framework with around 800 concurrent users and successfully passed all tests with no exceptions being thrown. The proxy in the unit test has been created from configuration. There is a sharepoint application that use the Office Sharepoint Server Search service to call web services "A" and "B". The application will get data from service "A" to create a request that will be sent to service "B". The response coming from service "B" is indexed for search. The proxy is created programmatically using the ChannelFactory. When service "A" takes less than 10 minutes, the calls to service "B" are successfull. But when service "A" takes more time (~20 minutes) the calls to service "B" throw the following exception: Exception Message: An unsecured or incorrectly secured fault was received from the other party. See the inner FaultException for the fault code and detail Inner Exception Message: The message could not be processed. This is most likely because the action 'namespace/OperationName' is incorrect or because the message contains an invalid or expired security context token or because there is a mismatch between bindings. The security context token would be invalid if the service aborted the channel due to inactivity. To prevent the service from aborting idle sessions prematurely increase the Receive timeout on the service endpoint's binding. The binding settings are the same, the time in both client server and web service server are synchronize with the Windows Time service, same time zone. When i look at the server where web service "B" is hosted i can see the following security errors being logged: Source: Security Category: Logon/Logoff Event ID: 537 User NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM Logon Failure: Reason: An error occurred during logon Logon Type: 3 Logon Process: Kerberos Authentication Package: Kerberos Status code: 0xC000006D Substatus code: 0xC0000133 After reading some of the blogs online, the Status code means STATUS_LOGON_FAILURE and the substatus code means STATUS_TIME_DIFFERENCE_AT_DC. but i already checked both server and client clocks and they are syncronized. I also noticed that the security token seems to be cached somewhere in the client server because they have another process that calls the web service "B" using the same service account and successfully gets data the first time is called. Then they start the proccess to update the office sharepoint server search service indexes and it fails. Then if they called the first proccess again it will fail too. Has anyone experienced this type of problems or have any ideas? Regards, --Damian

  I would like to export some records from an EndNote (reference management software) library and import into a MySQL database. Does anyone have any experience with this? I've tried creating custom EndNote "output styles" containing either comma-delimited values or even SQL code, but have had mixed results, either because EndNote filters out some characters (like `) or because EndNote doesn't (or I can't work out how to make it) escape text, which might include characters like ' and ". I realize this might be a bit off-topic but any help would be appreciated.

  SMTP is a whole new ballgame for me, but I am reading up on it. I am attempting to send email from my EC2 instance using GoDaddy's SMTP server. My domain name is registered through GoDaddy and I have 2 email accounts with them. I can successfully send the email from my dev box no problem. my web.config <system.net> <mailSettings> <smtp from="[email protected]" deliveryMethod="Network"> <network host="smtpout.secureserver.net" clientDomain="mydomain.com" port="25" userName="[email protected]" password="mypassword" defaultCredentials="false" /> </smtp> </mailSettings> </system.net> In my ASP.NET app: MailMessage mailMessage = new MailMessage("[email protected]", recipientEmail, emailSubject, body); mailMessage.IsBodyHtml = false; SmtpClient mailClient = new SmtpClient(); mailClient.Send(mailMessage); Very typical, simple use of System.Net.Mail.SmtpClient. The mail client is picking up the settings from my web.config as expected. The app is running in .NET 4 I can successfully use Gmail's SMTP server on the EC2 instance by using their port, setting SmtpClient.EnableSsl to true, and sending the mail through a gmail account. But we want to send the email from an account on our domain. I have port 25 open on both the Windows firewall and Amazon's Security group based firewall. I have played with Wireshark and noticed my SMTP related traffic was talking to ports in the 5,000s, so out of desperation I opened them all up to no avail (then closed them back down) As far as I know my EC2 instance's IP address is not black listed by GoDaddy. I would also like to see how it then works into your master pages. I don't mind page specific files being minified and linked inidividually as they currently are (see below) but all the js files on the main master page (I have about 5 or 6) I would like concatenated and minified. • ActiveDirectoryMembershipProvider and ADAM (or AD LDS) and SetPassword

  By the subject line it seems to be a rather broad subject and I need some help here. Basically what I want is to use ActiveDirectoryMembershipProvider with an ADAM instance to authenticate users in an ASP.NET web application. My development environment is a windows 7 machine with an AD LDS instance on it whilst the QA server is a Windows 2003 server with an ADAM instance on it. I have all the required users on both instances plus one with adminsitrator role (CN=Admin,CN=xxx,DC=xxx,C=xx) which I want to use as the connection user. Using connectonProtecton="None" connectionUsername="CN=Admin,CN=xxx,DC=xxx,C=xx" connectionPassword="xxx" I am able to authenticate on both environments (dev & qa). If I change to the connectionProtection to "Secure" I am not able to authenticate anymore; the error I get is "Parser Error Message: Unable to establish secure connection with the server" To me it sounds wrong to use connectionProtection="None" although I found on the net a lot of samples using this setting. Can I use connectionProtection="Secure" to connect to an ADAM instance using an account defined on that instance having Administrator role? What other choices do I have (like using an domain account)? What if my machine where I am to deploy the application is not a part of the domain, will this affect in any way the behavior? I am novice in the respect so I would really appreciate some clear answers or some directions as where to look? Now beside the "signing in" feature of the ActiveDirectoryMembershipProvider I also want to add an extra one, which is setting the password without knowing the old one (something that will be used by a "reset password" feature). So I added a couple of extension methods to the provider, and used System.DirectoryServices classes like DirectoryEntry and the like. When creating a directory entry I use the same credentials provided in web.config for the provider minus the AuthenticationType as I don't know what is right combination of the flags that corresponds to None/Secure. I am able to use Invoke "SetPassword" with ADS_OPTION_PASSWORD_METHOD option as ADS_PASSWORD_ENCODE_CLEAR on my dev machine (w/ AD LDS instance); nevertheless on qa environment (w/ ADAM instance) I am getting an error like "Exception Details: System.DirectoryServices.DirectoryServicesCOMException: An operations error occurred. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80072020)" I am quite sure it is not about AD LDS vs ADAM but probably another configuration / permission issue. So can anyone help me with some hints on how to use this SetPassword feature? And as a general question what are the best practices when it comes to using ADAM regarding security, programming etc?   I have a strange issue that I can't figure out. I have a custom settings class that inherits ApplicationSettingsBase. When I creating the SettingsForm and change AccountList Settings value, the user.config file changes as excepected. My Apply/Ok button for my SettingsForm calls Settings.Save() then Settings.Reload() then closes the form. The problem is that when .Reload() is called, the Settings.AccountList becomes null. Whats more is that the user.config file never changes, if i close the application and reopen, the user.config file is still correct, but the Settings.AccountList is never read in. The Settings.AccountList is read in if i never call the .Reload() however. Update: If I create a List and Save(); from my MainForm, then the AccountList will be read in from my user.config fine. However If I add to the AccountList using my secondary form (SettingsForm) and call Save() then the next time the application is run the settings are not read in and a null value is returned in it's place. This happens even if I do not use Reload(). I think the problem has something to do with using the Generic List<. The AccountKeyClass that is being saved is saved as Serialized XML.

• sql server 2005 delphi 2010 dbexpress connection

  Trying to connect to sql server 2005 with delphi 2010 gives me the following error after configuring the data explorer: 'Borland.data.TDBXError: DBX Error: Driver could not be properly initialized. Client library may be missing, not installed properly, or wrong version' I know there is a work around by installing the sql server 2008 management studio. But this is not a good solution if all pc's need to have this prerequirement. Anybody know a better solution/fix. Delphi 6 does not have this problem.

• Why is my WCF Rest Service on IIS7 Authenticating TWICE!?!?

  Ok, if someone could shed some light on this for me, I would greatly appreciate it. So here we go. I had a rest service running fine the other day but after I accidentally overwrote the web.config all hell broke loose. I've spent the past day and a half trying to sort things out but I can't seem to figure out what is missing or misplaced. So, I've designed this service around WCF Rest Contrib (http://wcfrestcontrib.codeplex.com)'s authentication process. Now, I can get this working fine on my localhost w/ the current web.config (minus the endpoint entry) but once I upload it to discountasp and select "basic authorization" in the ISS7 Manager, it appears that I'm getting authenticated twice! Once using my discount asp.net user/pass and then the next time using the application user/pass. Unfortunately I only provide one set of credentials and don't want to hard code my discountasp account info into the app. Like I said before, this worked fine a few days ago. I thought this was strange, so I looked at fiddler and saw something interesting. Whenever I try request a procedure with [OperationAuthentication] defined and provide my discountasp.net username/pass I get two different "WWW-Authenticate" headers back in Fiddler: WWW-Authenticate: Basic realm="MyRESTServiceRealm" WWW-Authenticate: Basic realm="www.mydomain.com" On the other hand, if I try to access the same procedures with only my application's user/pass, I only get the site's header: WWW-Authenticate: Basic realm="www.mydomain.com" My hypothesis is that for some reason I'm having to pass through the default "Basic Authorization" layer set by IIS before I can get to the application's "Custom Basic Authorization" layer. After verifying this by created an identical user/pass for my service that I use for my discountasp.net account, I was able to successfully pass both layers of authentication without any issues... so I think I can conclude that this is indeed the issue. Now how do I disable the default one? Do I need to do this in the IIS Manager, or in the web.config? Anyway, I have absolutely no idea how this is possible or what I need to do to resolve the issue, but I know that something is seriously out of whack. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! I could understand if I wrote the code, but good god... they can't even get their own code to work? Has anyone else seen/fixed this problem?

• Objective-C Out of scope problem

  Hi, I'm having a few problems with some Objective-C and would appreciate some pointers. So I have a class MapFileGroup which has the following simple interface (There are other member variables but they aren't important): @interface MapFileGroup : NSObject { NSMutableArray *mapArray; } @property (nonatomic, retain) NSMutableArray *mapArray; mapArray is @synthesize'd in the .m file. It has an init method: -(MapFileGroup*) init { self = [super init]; if (self) { mapArray = [NSMutableArray arrayWithCapacity: 10]; } return self; } It also has a method for adding a custom object to the array: -(BOOL) addMapFile:(MapFile*) mapfile { if (mapfile == nil) return NO; mapArray addObject:mapfile]; return YES; } The problem I get comes when I want to use this class - obviously due to a misunderstanding of memory management on my part. It calls a method within fullGroupOfMaps, but if I step into the class from that line while debugging, all fullGroupOfMaps's objects are now out of scope and I get a crash. So apologies for the long question and big amount of code, but I guess my main question it: How should I handle a class with an NSMutableArray as an instance variable? What is the proper way of creating objects to be added to the class so that they don't get freed before I'm done with them? Many thanks

My question is, if I am using Asynchronous Processing=true with SQL Server authentication mode (not Windows authentication mode, i.e. using sa account and password in connection string in web.config), I am wondering whether Asynchronous Processing=true will impact performance of my web application (or depends on my ADO.Net code implementation pattern/scenario)?   I may be asking the impossible but let me set out my problem: I have a menu in a MasterPage which uses images and mouseover mouseout events for design purposes. On one of the menu options I need to display a set of sub menus options on the click of the parent menu item. The menu item itself also needs to navigate to a specified url. I was originally trying to use an AJAX accordion panel but as I only had one accordion panel it was always displaying the sub menu items and was not collapsing. I have also tried putting the options in a div and setting the display via javascript. This worked but then was overwritten once the page navigation postback occurred. How can I convert the date into GMT whilst taking into account daylight savings?

  Hi, I want to port a python app that uses mechanize for the iPhone. This app needs to login to a webpage and using the site cookie to go to other pages on that site to get some data. With my python app I was using mechanize for automatic cookie management. Is there something similar for Objective C that is portable to the iPhone? Thanks for any help.
