Can we use JCR API over MySQL?

Apache Jackrabbit (or the JCR API) helps you separate the data store from the data management system. This would mean that every data store provider would have to implement the JCR API for his own data store. The question is JCR implemented for MySQL? Can we use the JCR API over MySQL? I want to truly abstract out where i store my content, so that tomorrow if i don't want to use a relational DB i can swap it out with the file system with ease.

What if I invoke 10 DAO methods that all use the same Hibernatetemplate and I invoke them one after another? Every method runs within its own transaction? It's not effective is not it?

Architecture for a farmville/yoville/cafe world type game?

I'm thinking of building a game along the lines of Farmville - items, events, time management system etc. Options I am thinking of: 1) Flash UI frontend that uses AMFPHP to get all data for the view from a PHP powered backend. 2) Actionscript to power the whole game Any input is appreciated. My concern with Actionscript is scaling, my concern with PHP is having to build an update system that would need a lot of back and forth xmlhttprequests which might get complicated. If there's a better way to build something like this, I'm all ears :)

Custom validator not invoked when using Validation Application Block through configuration

I have set up a ruleset in my configuration file which has two validators, one of which is a built-in NotNullValidator, the other of which is a custom validator. The problem is that I see the NotNullValidator hit, but not my custom validator. The custom validator is being used to validate an Entity Framework entity object. I have used the debugger to confirm the NotNull is hit (I forced a failure condition so I saw it set an invalid result), but it never steps into the custom one. I am using MVC as the web app, so I defined the ruleset in a config file at that layer, but my custom validator is defined in another project. However, I wouldn't have thought that to be a problem because when I use the Enterprise Library Configuration tool inside Visual Studio 2008 it is able to set the type properly for the custom validator. As well, I believe the custom validator is fine as it builds ok, and the config tool can reference it properly. Does anybody have any ideas what the problem could be, or even what to do/try to debug further? ASP.NET MVC hosting problem, routing, handlers and modules

Hi, This is one of them again, hosting with fasthosts. I recently purchased a windows developer package from them. When I tried to deploy my ASP.NET 3.5 MVC project, which was working fine with the same host on a reseller account, it is not working. The reason to move from reseller to a normal Windows Developer package is, the MS-SQL server database is too expensive in a reseller account, strange! I contact them, and they are saying they upgraded the control panel. The technical support said, I need to disable the Modules and Handlers from the web.config file. Also I need to deploy them as .dll files. I am not sure how to do that. The website is partially working now. I think the problem is now with the routing. I have not deployed any .dlls apart from the System.Web.Mvc.dll, System.Web.Routing.dll and System.Web.Abstractions.dll. I have not got a clue on how to deploy the Modules and Handlers. The code that I commented on the web.config file is as follows.  Anybody got any ideas please. Thank you for your time.

Can I use this technique to provide free email service for my users?

I'll let users register their [email protected] ,,, they enter their members area where they can : 1- send emails ( easy to do) 2- receive emails .. for receiving emails , I'll use a catch all email account , read the email and figure to whom it's sent (username), and then I save it on the database with userid of the username who has registerd ! Do I miss something here ... is it really this simple (if I don't have an email server) ?

I am using the "MSF for Agile... v4.2" template as the base template and would like to set the version control settings of the "Project Management" document library todo the following: Major Versions : Enabled Documents must be checked our before they can be edited I'm using the editor GUI provided by the tfs powertools, however it does not appear these settings are available. Is it possible to define these settings in the WssTasks.XML file or do I need to approach this from a different angle.

Using MailDir as a Backend for Gnus

I am using offlineimap to sync my gmail account to a locak maildir, then using gnus to read that directory everything is fine but gnus uses its own flags for marking read unread status of messages and they are not synced back to gmail. is there a way to force gnus to use standart maildir flags?
