  • Should I use Java for a custom Swing component designed for a clojure app?

    I want a simple timeline component (like in video editing software) for a clojure/seesaw app and I am wondering if it is a good approach to implement this directly with clojure and seesaw or if I should write it in java and make my clojure wrapper around it. Or more generally: is a functional programming language optimal for writing UI widgets? I cannot imagine doing that without a lot of state involved. And wasn't OO invented for UI-development in the first place?

I've got two portions that are in need of it: An old-school client/server api (No, not web based, that's the problem) An old cgi application that it integrates with the client and server.     I have seen several WordPress plug-ins for adding a "quote of the day" feature (or something similar) to your blog. How do you create a customized one? I'm looking for something that will pull a daily entry from a list/database of my creation. I apologize if my question is not detailed enough. Still a newbie with WordPress. PART 2: Thanks for your prompt and on-point responses. With your responses and some additional research, I'm able to fine-tune my question. What I wish to accomplish is something similar to Amazon's Deal of the Day widget. Except, in my case, it will simply be a title and a corresponding link. My presumption is that I will set up a database and (using php or something similar) have the information drawn from the database and displayed in my WP sidebar. Additionally, I forgot to mention the time element. I want the displayed info to update once a day, at or around the same time each day. Any ideas? Thanks again. I'm so glad I found stackoverflow.

  • Need to display my code in stack trace. I see only System... lines.

    Sometimes when I get an Exception while debugging in Visual Studio, all the code lines in the stack trace belong to the System.. name space. It doesn't display my line of code which was responsible for the exception. Is there a way to be make the stack trace show more lines or to ignore stack trace from the system namespace? Something like Just-My-Code for stack trace?

  • Is it possible to route heroku-rails-app to a subdirectory of my custom domain?

    I want to setup a rails app on heroku that is part of a website. The website which is hosted on a different server explains the usage of the app, shows a tour, plans, contains a blog on related stuff and so on. I want to route to my_domain/app and the app should respond to that url. The custom_domain add-on doesnt allow to enter directories. How can I configure that or how would you realize that scenario?

  • how do I create a custom route in rails where I pass the id of an existing Model?

    I created the following route: map.todo "todo/today", :controller => "todo", :action => "show_date" Originally, the 'show_date' action and associated view would display all the activities associated for that day for all the Campaigns. This ended up being very slow on the database...it would generate roughly 30 records but was still slow. So, I'm thinking of creating a partial that would first list the campaigns separately. If someone clicked on a link associated with campaign_id = 1, I want it to go to the following route: todo/today/campaign/1 Then I would like to know how to know that the '1' is the campaign_id in the controller and then just do its thing. The reason I want a distinct URL is so that I can cache this list. I have to keep going back to this and it's slow. NOTE: It's possibly the problem actually is that I've written the queries in a slow way and sqlite isn't representative of how it will be in production, in which case this work-around is unnecessary, but right now, I need a way to get back to the whole list quickly.

I need them to be able to call methods from my "part" but do not modify or view their content.     I am new to photo apps, recently I am interested in making a sticker app like those can be seen in the appstore, I know I would need to use uiimagepickercontroller, uiscrollview and uigesturerecognizer. However I wonder which code method should I use for the app to load multiple stickers? Should it be called programmatically? Is that I would need to use the if-statement, say if one sticker is loaded, the app will auto generate a new sticker on top of it?
