  I have a cherrypy app that I'm controlling over http with a wxpython ui. I want to kill the server when the ui closes, but I don't know how to do that. • How to fix weird scrolling/alignment behavior when using keyboard in MenuStrip?

  I started noticing strange behavior when navigating the main toolbar of my Winforms application, and I don't know how to fix it. When I initially open the dropdown of the File menu, it looks like this: I begin to scroll down each item with the arrow keys, and everything is fine until I reach "Exit". As soon as I hit the down arrow key from "Log Off", or if I hit the up arrow key from "Open", the menu rearranges itself to look like this: I'm puzzled by this behavior. The menu still works, and from this point, if I start scrolling up, I can get the arrangement back to normal: A few observations: The menu still works. This doesn't happen when using the mouse. I have some code that toggles the Visible property of some of the menu items. I was able to modify what the arrangement was by playing around with this, but it was still messed up. Can anyone help me understand what is going on, and how to fix it?

Check the spelling of the file name, and verify that the file location is correct. If you are trying to open the file from your list of most recently used files, make sure that the file has not been renamed, moved, or deleted. ". I think it taking server path...but i want to open client excel file before saving the file to the server. Plz help.

  I have a function in javascript called "dumpData" which I call from a button on an html page as **onlick="dumpData(dbControl);"* What it does is return an xml file of the settings (to an alert box right now). I want to return it to the user as a file download. Is there a way to create a button when click will open a file download box and ask the user to save or open it? (sorta of like right-clicking and save target as)... Or can it be sent to a php file and use export();? Not sure how I would send a long string like that to php and have it simple send it back as a file download. Dennis

  Web app runs on Tomcat. Datasource is configured with Spring configuration, and is used by Hibernate. If we cannot use JNDI, what would you suggest to use as a DataSource? org.springframework.jdbc.datasource.DriverManagerDataSource will be ok? It's not very good, but sincerely speaking, it can be used on production server, right? Just a bit of headache with too frequent connection reopening. Also, we can use BasicDataSource from Apache. It's much better of course, but here's the question. IF WE DON'T USE JNDI, THEN: If every instance of an app will create its own copy of a DataSource, and every DataSource can have 5 open connections, what do we get? Num_of_running_apps * Num_of_max_active_connections = max active open connection on a DB for this user? Second question: from the perspective of Hibernate, is there any difference about what datasource implementation is used? Will it work with no matter what datasource perfectly and in a stable way?

• WPF: When is a WrapPanel full.

  I'm using a WrapPanel to display variable height items in columns. The wrappanel has a constrained size. Is there an way to determine when the WrapPanel is 'full'? I will then page to another panel with an animation. I've looked at the ArrangeOverride of the items that are the panels children, but they always seem to be getting all the space they want. I need a way to determine when they begin getting clipped.

I would like to take this generated code and insert it as a new class and interface directly into the currently opened solution under a specific project and directory. I will create the menu tool that will generate the class but what I don't know how to do is gain access to the following items from within my custom Visual Studio Extension: Iterate the current solution and find a project to dump the generated code into. Open a new file window within Visual Studio and inject the generated text that comes from my tool directly into that window. Create a new folder in a specific project within the current solution from within my custom extension. • Programming an Event listener for files in a directory on Linux

  On Ubuntu linux, when you watch a flash video, it gets saved temporarily in the /tmp as flv files while the video buffers. I use vlc to directly play these files. Currently, I have scripted a shortcut that directly scans and opens the latest file in /tmp with vlc, when clicked. But, I want to program a Java application that will continually monitor this /tmp directory for any new flv files, and open it in vlc automatically. I know I can use Runtime.exec() to open the VLC application with the flv files. But, I DO NOT want to run a while(true) loop (with sleep) to scan for files. How can I make use of Event Handling (Java or any other language) on Linux to complete this task?

  How can I find which processes have a specific file opened, and their open, access and share modes? Additionally, is it possible to change these values for a process? Or is it even possible to open a file for reading if it is already opened for exclusive access by another process? Please note that I don't want to invalidate the handle of the process having the file opened. I just want to be able to access the file (if possible). (I'm mainly asking about Windows, but solutions for other platforms are welcome, since they contribute to the community's knowledge.) Edit: I found some answers for my first question here and there.   Hey guys, I have a WordPress site for a client. He owns a video store, and I made a site for him to update the list of movies, usually just the "new this week" movies. The Pod has a field where you insert the release date. 2010-04-20 Then there is a Pod page/template combo that calls the movies with a certain release date like this: $date = pods_url_variable('last'); He then just creates a blank WP page with the slug 2010-04-20 So when you open that page, the Pod page/template reads that slug and renders a list of the appropriate movies. My problem: I need these to be searchable. Is this possible. I'm also open to suggestions on other ways to go about making this site work. I need it to be as simple as that. Uploads some movies and creates a new page. Then the rest is done automatically. Please and thank you guys

• Database of common translated phrases for localization?

  I'd like to localize my app into a few other languages, all of which I can barely order a drink in. Does anyone know of an online resource for translations of common software menu options, messages, etc. into other languages? Given the number of developers (both OSS and closed-source) that deal with localization, and the overlap of resource strings between, it seems like a pretty obvious fit for a wiki or open source package, but I can't seem to find anything like this. I could try to mine the Windows resource files or dig around in resource strings in robust OSS apps like Firefox, but I suspect I'm not the first person to think of this and surely there is a site that I'm just not finding yet. Update: since nothing exists like this that I could find, I started a feeble attempt at an open-source string library.
