  • how to do gedcom import with minimal database roundtrip. what is best practice for this kind of dev

    In My current application, I need to import users from gedcom file. these users may exist in my registered users or i need to create one registered user for the same. now gedcom file contain s </SecuritySettings> </UserProfile> now when i am importing data from gedcom, i am creating one person object which contains all this info. but before i insert it itodatabase have to check if userid exist for the emailaddress dont update data else create a user and update its profilexml from data fecthed from gedcom. for this i think i need some soln by which i can do only one roundtrip to database and can update all user's xml. or i can execute one sp to get userid from all users where i'll check if user exist then return userid else insert basic data and return inserted userid then for every user make xml from data and update it. please provide be suggestion what is best practice to do this kind of development. if need any more details please write me

  • Reactive Extensions vs FileSystemWatcher

    One of the things that has long bugged me about the FileSystemWatcher is the way it fires multiple events for a single logical change to a file. I know why it happens, but I don't want to have to care - I just want to reparse the file once, not 4-6 times in a row. Ideally, there would be an event that only fires when a given file is done changing, rather than every step along the way. Over the years I've come up with various solutions to this problem, of varying degrees of ugliness. I thought Reactive Extensions would be the ultimate solution, but there's something I'm not doing right, and I'm hoping someone can point out my mistake. I have an extension method: public static IObservable<IEvent<FileSystemEventArgs>> GetChanged(this FileSystemWatcher that) { return Observable.FromEvent<FileSystemEventArgs>(that, "Changed"); } Ultimately, I would like to get one event per filename, within a given time period - so that four events in a row with a single filename are reduced to one event, but I don't lose anything if multiple files are modified at the same time. BufferWithTime sounds like the ideal solution. var bufferedChange = watcher.GetChanged() .Select(e => e.EventArgs.FullPath) .BufferWithTime(TimeSpan.FromSeconds(1)) .Where(e => e.Count > 0) .Select(e => e.Distinct()); When I subscribe to this observable, a single change to a monitored file triggers my subscription method four times in a row, which rather defeats the purpose. If I remove the Distinct() call, I see that each of the four calls contains two identical events - so there is some buffering going on. Increasing the TimeSpan passed to BufferWithTime seems to have no effect - I went as high as 20 seconds without any change in behavior. This is my first foray into Rx, so I'm probably missing something obvious. Am I doing it wrong? Is there a better approach? Thanks for any suggestions...

    I have a non-A2DP single ear BT headset (Plantronics 510) and would like to use it with my Android HTC Magic to listen to low quality audio like podcasts/audio books. After much googling I found that only phone call audio can be routed to the non-A2DP BT headsets. (I would like to know if you have found a ready solution to route all kinds of audio to non-A2DP BT headsets) So I figured, somehow programmatically I can channel the audio to the stream that carries phone call audio. This way I will fool the phone to carry my mp3 audio to my BT headset. If I remove the AudioManager calls in the above code, the audio plays from speaker and if I replace them as shown above then the audio stops coming from speakers, but it doesn't come through the BT headset. So this might be a partial success. I have checked that the BT headset works alright with phone calls. There must be a reason for Android not supporting this. But I can't let go of the feeling that it is not possible to programmatically reroute the audio. Any ideas?     Hi I seem to have the strangest problem. I am using logparser to search an event log for some text that I know is there (i copied and pasted the string from the event into the sql search string). But the sql LIKE statement is returning a empty results. But other LIKE statments seem to be working file.   • Databinding a multiselect ListBox in a FormView control

    I have a multiselect ListBox within a FormView. I can't figure out how to setup the databinding for it. I can populate the listbox fine. If the listbox was a single select I could use say SelectValue='<%#Bind("col")%>' and that works fine. Is there something that I can bind to for a multiselect listbox? I've tried manually DataBinding by handling the DataBinding event of the listbox and setting the selected property on the appropriate items. Unfortunately, there are no items in the listbox during the DataBinding event. The closest thing I've found is to save the value that determines what items should be selecting during DataBinding and then use that value in the FormViews DataBinding event to select the right items which seems like a hack to me. Is there a better way? EDIT: To clarify what I am currently doing... I am using the FormViews's ItemCreated event to save the FormView's DataItem. Then in the FormView's DataBound event I find the listbox and manually set the selected items. It doesn't seem right that I have to save the value like this and I assume there is a more correct way to do this that I just can't see.

    I'm trying to run an ASP.NET MVC 2 web application under IIS on Windows 7, but I get a 403.14 error. Here are the steps to reproduce: Open Visual Studio 2010 Create a new ASP.NET MVC 2 project called MvcApplication1 Shift+F5 to run the app. You should see http://localhost:{random_port}/ and the page will render correctly. Click on MvcApplication1, and select "Properties". Go to the "Web" section. Select "Use Local IIS Web server" and create a virtual directory. Save. Shift+F5 to run the app. You should see http://localhost/MvcApplication1/ and an IIS error HTTP Error 403.14 - Forbidden The Web server is configured to not list the contents of this directory.. It's clear that for whatever reason, ASP.NET routing is not working correctly. Things I've already thought of and tried: Verified that all IIS features are enabled in "Turn Windows features on or off". Verified that the default website is configured to use .NET 4.0 Reassigned ASP.NET v4 scripmaps via aspnet_regiis -i in the v4.0.30319 directory. Here's the most amazing part - this is on a just-built machine. New copy of Windows 7 x64 Ultimate, clean install of Visual Studio 2010 Premium, no other websites and no other work performed. Anything else I can try?

    In my screen, I have a drop down(select box), on selection of any of the options in that drop down , i display one or more text boxes beside the select box using javascript/css - display:none and display:block. All these input controls are in the same jsf form. Each of the input controls have their own validator. The problem is suppose the user selects from selection box and doesn't input value or inputs a wrong value for , i add a custom FacesMessage in the Validator and is shown appropriately and suppose the user selects the the second time and inputs the wrong value for the then another FacesMessage is added in the validator. But Now both the Messages are shown - means - the message for and - which is wrong My assumption is that , this happens because they exist in the same form and their instances are not destroyed yet in the FacesContext and in the UIView. I decided to delete the messages this way Iterator<FacesMessage> msgIterator = FacesContext.getCurrentInstance().getMessages(); while(msgIterator.hasNext()) { msgIterator.next(); msgIterator.remove(); } But this sometimes gives java.util.NoSuchElementException org.apache.myfaces.shared_impl.renderkit.html.HtmlMessagesRendererBase$MessagesIterator.next So 2 questions : 1) What is the problem in deleting the FacesMessages this way?   • ExtJS: Combobox in EditorGridPanel not selecting the desired item (with test case)

    I'm using ExtJS to create an EditorGridPanel with a combobox for an editor in a cell. The combobox in my EditorGridPanel that is not working as I'd expect it to. When the user types the first letter of an item in the drop down list, the combobox seems to ignore it and select the first item in the list. I can reproduce the error consistently and have put together a test case here: http://cluebucket.com/dev/testcase/testcase.html Load the page and reproduce the behavior by the following -- note that this is all done using the keyboard, no mouse clicks: Click 'Add Record' (A new row is added to the grid) enter text in the text field. TAB to the Priority field without selecting anything (None will remain selected) TAB out of the Priority field. (A new row is added to the grid) enter text and TAB to the Priority field TYPE v (Very High is selected) TAB out of the priority field (A new row is added to the grid) enter text and TAB to the Priority field Type v (None is selected, but Very High should have been) TAB out of the priority field Enter text and TAB to the priority field Type l ('el') (Low is selected) TAB out, enter text, TAB to priority Type l (None is selected) It appears that whenever the user attempts to select the same value that was selected in the previous row, the combobox selects None. (as it's described here http://www.alistapart.com/articles/sprites) The "second" version uses an image tag and it's clip css property.   • JPQL IN clause: Java-Arrays (or Lists, Sets...)?

    I would like to load all objects that have a textual tag set to any of a small but arbitrary number of values from our database. The logical way to go about this in SQL would be to build an "IN" clause. JPQL allows for IN, but it seems to require me to specify every single parameter to IN directly (as in, "in (:in1, :in2, :in3)"). Is there some way to specify an array, or a list (or some other container) that should be unrolled to the values of an IN clause?

    Hi everyone, Im trying to plot the roots of a polynomial, and i just cant get it. First i create my polynomial p5 = [1 0 0 0 0 -1] %x^5 - 1 r5 = roots(p5) stem (p5) Im using the stem function, but I would like to remove the stems, and just get the circle around the roots. Is this possible, is stem the right command? Thanks in advance, PS: This is not homework, but very close, will tag it if requested.
