• Hibernate: how to call a stored function returning a varchar?

  I am trying to call a legacy stored function in an Oracle9i DB from Java using Hibernate. • Linq, Left Join and Dates...

  So my situation is that I have a linq-to-sql model that does not allow dates to be null in one of my tables. This is intended, because the database does not allow nulls in that field. My problem, is that when I try to write a Linq query with this model, I cannot do a left join with that table anymore because the date is not a 'nullable' field and so I can't compare it to "Nothing". Example: There is a Movie table, {ID,MovieTitle}, and a Showings table, {ID,MovieID,ShowingTime,Location} Now I am trying to write a statement that will return all those movies that have no showings. In T.SQL this would look like: Select m.* From Movies m Left Join Showings s On m.ID = s.MovieID Where s.ShowingTime is Null Now in this situation I could test for Null on the 'Location' field but this is not what I have in reality (just a simplified example). All I have are non-null dates. I am trying to write in Linq: From m In dbContext.Movies _ Group Join s In Showings on m.ID Equals s.MovieID into MovieShowings = Group _ From ms In MovieShowings.DefaultIfEmpty _ Where ms.ShowingTime is Nothing _ Select ms However I am getting an error saying 'Is' operator does not accept operands of type 'Date'. Operands must be reference or nullable types. Is there any way around this? The model is correct, there should never be a null in the Showings:ShowTime table. But if you do a left join, and there are no show times for a particular movie, then ShowTime SHOULD be Nothing for that movie... Thanks everyone for your help.

• Django queryset not returning the same values as the generated sql

  Hello guys, I have the following queryset: subscribers = User.objects.values('email', 'username').filter( Q(subscription_settings__new_question='i') | Q(subscription_settings__new_question_watched_tags='i', marked_tags__id__in=question.tags.values('id'), tag_selections__reason='good') ).exclude(id=question.author.id) The problem is that when I evaluate the query I get only the values that are filtered by the first Q object (even if I reverse the order of the objects). So lets say that I was expecting the user A, B, C and D, where A and B are filtered by the first Q object and C and D by the second. But the queryset only returns A and B. I used the django debug toolbar to see the query that was actually being executed (and then I used a direct print statement like "print subscriber.query.as_sql()" just to be sure) and then evaluated the query directly using psql (I'm using postgres by the way), and I get the results I expect. • Unable to convert from Julian INT date to regular TSQL Datetime

  Help me Stackoverflow, I'm close to going all "HULK SMASH" on my keyboard over this issue. I have researched carefully but I'm obviously not getting something right. I am working with a Julian dates referenced from a proprietary tool (Platinum SQL?), though I'm working in SQL 2005. I can convert their "special" version of Julian into datetime when I run a select statement. Unfortunately it will not insert into a datetime column, I get the following error when I try: The conversion of a char data type to a datetime data type resulted in an out-of-range datetime value. So I can't setup datetime criteria for running a report off of the Stored Procedure. Original Value: 733416 Equivalent Calendar Value: 01-09-2009 Below is my code... I'm so close but I can't quite see what's wrong, I need my convert statement to actually convert the Julian value (733416) into a compatible TSQL DATETIME value. • Use Session state within pLinq queries

  Hi, I have a fairly simple Linq query (simplified code): dim x = From Product In lstProductList.AsParallel Order By Product.Price.GrossPrice Descending Select Product Product is a class. Product.Price is a child class and GrossPrice is one of its properties. In order to work out the price I need to use Session("exchange_rate"). So for each item in lstProductList there's a function that does the following: NetPrice=NetPrice * Session("exchange_rate") (and then GrossPrice returns NetPrice+VatAmount) No matter what I've tried I cannot access session state. I have tried HttpContext.Current - but that returns Nothing. I've tried Implements IRequiresSessionState on the class (which helps in a similar situation in generic http handlers [.ashx]) - no luck. I'm using simple InProc session state mode. Exchange rate has to be user specific. What can I do? • C# to find JobId, Owner, TotalPages from Printer

  My below code works when the Form loads and I can get a list of Network Printers in listBox1. • Outlook Interop Send Message from Account

  Okay, the specs have changed on this one somewhat. Maybe someone can help me with this new problem. Manually, what the user is doing is opening an new message in Outlook (2007 now) which has the "From..." field exposed. They open this up, select a certain account from the Global Address List, and send the message on behalf of that account. Is this possible to do? I can get the AddressEntry from the Global address list like so: AddressList list = null; foreach (AddressList addressList in _outlookApp.Session.AddressLists) { if (addressList.Name.ToLower().Equals("global address list")) { list = addressList; break; } } if (list != null) { AddressEntry entry = null; foreach (AddressEntry addressEntry in list.AddressEntries) { if (addressEntry.Name.ToLower().Equals("outgoing mail account")) { entry = addressEntry; break; } } } But I'm not sure I can make an Account type from the Address Entry. It seems to happen manually, when they select the address to send from. How do I mirror this in the Interop? Thanks! (My Original Question): I developed a small C# program to send email using the Outlook 2007 interop. The client required that the mail not be send using the default account - they had a secondary account they needed used. No problem - I used the Microsoft.Office.Interop.Outlook.Account class to access the availabled accounts, and choose the correct one. Now, it turns out they need this to work in Outlook 2003. Of course, the Account class doesn't exist in the Outlook interop 11.0. How can I achieve the same thing with Outlook 2003? Thanks in advance.

  Hi all, I need to read a website's folders using WMI and C# in IIS 6.0. I am able to read the Virtual directories and applications using the "IISWebVirtualDirSetting" class. However the physical folders located inside a website cannot be read using this class. And for my case i need to read sub folders located within a website and later on set permission on them. For my requirement i dont need to work on Virtual Directories/Web Service Applications (which can be easily obtained using the code below..). I have tried to use IISWebDirectory class but it has been useful. • LINQ to DataSet Dataclass assignment question

  Hi all, I'm working on a Silverlight project trying to access a database using LINQ To DataSet and then sending data over to Silverlight via .ASMX web service. I've defined my DataSet using the Server Explorer tool (dragging and dropping all the different tables that I'm interested in). The DataSet is able to access the server and database with no issues. Below is code from one of my Web Methods: public List<ClassSpecification> getSpecifications() { DataSet2TableAdapters.SpecificationTableAdapter Sta = new DataSet2TableAdapters.SpecificationTableAdapter(); return (from Spec in Sta.GetData().AsEnumerable() select new ClassSpecification() { Specification = Spec.Field<String>("Specification"), SpecificationType = Spec.Field<string>("SpecificationType"), StatusChange = Spec.Field<DateTime>("StatusChange"), Spec = Spec.Field<int>("Spec") }).ToList<ClassSpecification>(); } I created a "ClassSpecification" data class which is going to contain my data and it has all the table fields as properties. My question is, is there a quicker way of doing the assignment than what is shown here? There are actually about 10 more fields, and I would imagine that since my DataSet knows my table definition, that I would have a quicker way of doing the assignment than going field by field. I tried just "select new ClassSpecification()).ToList Any help would be greatly appreciated.

• MySQL use certain columns, based on other columns

  I have this query: SELECT COUNT(articles.id) AS count FROM articles, xml_documents, streams WHERE articles.xml_document_id = xml_documents.id AND xml_documents.stream_id = streams.id AND articles.published_at BETWEEN '2010-01-01' AND '2010-04-01' AND streams.brand_id = 7 Which just uses the default equajoin by specifying three tables in csv format in the FROM clause.. What I need to do is group this by a value found within articles.source (raw xml).. so it could turn into this: SELECT COUNT(articles.id) AS count, ExtractValue(articles.source, "/article/media_type") AS media_type FROM articles, xml_documents, streams WHERE articles.xml_document_id = xml_documents.id AND xml_documents.stream_id = streams.id AND articles.published_at BETWEEN '2010-01-01' AND '2010-04-01' AND streams.brand_id = 7 GROUP BY media_type which works fine, the problem is, I'm using rails, and using STI for the xml_documents table. The articles.source that is provided to the ExtractValue method will be of a couple different formats.. So what I need to be able to do is use "/article/media_type" IF xml_documents.type = 'source one' and use "/article/source" if xml_documents.type = 'source two' This is just because the two document types format their XML differently, but I don't want to have to run multiple queries to retrieve this information.. It would be nice if one could use a ternary operator, but i don't think this is possible.. EDIT At this Point I am looking at making a temp table, or simply using UNION to place multiple result sets together..

• Get UiBinder widget to display inline instead of block

  I'm trying to get my UiBinder-defined widget to display inline, but I can't. The HTMLPanel is a div, but I can't get the display attribute to assign. I can't force the style name, since the following throws an error: <g:HTMLPanel styleNames="{style.section}"> And I can assign an additional style, but it doesn't apply the display setting. <g:HTMLPanel addStyleNames="{style.section}"> This displays the border and sets the size, as expected, but it doesn't flow. Firebug shows the styles on the div are border, width, and padding, but no display. Is there a way to make a widget in UiBinder so that it'll display inline instead of block? And if so, can I make it compatible with having a VerticalPanel inside (can I do it without making the entire widget pure HTML without any GWT widgets)? PS: I saw question 2257924 but it hasn't had any answers lately, and he seems to be focused on getting a tag, not specifically getting inline layout. I don't care directly about , if I can just get the top-level tag for my widget to flow inline, I'm happy.

• TwoWay Binding to ListBox SelectedItem on more than one list box in WPF

  I have a scenario where I have a globally available Properties window (similar to the Properties window in Visual Studio), which is bound to a SelectedObject property of my model. I have a number of different ways to browse and select objects, so my first attempt was to bind them to SelectedObject directly. For example: <ListBox ItemsSource="{Binding ActiveProject.Controllers}" SelectedItem="{Binding SelectedObject, Mode=TwoWay}"/> <ListBox ItemsSource="{Binding ActiveProject.Machines}" SelectedItem="{Binding SelectedObject, Mode=TwoWay}"/> This works well when I have more than one item in each list, but it fails if a list has only one item. When I select the item, SelectedObject is not updated, since the list still thinks its original item was selected. I believe this happens because the two way binding simply ignores the update from source when SelectedObject is not an object in the list, leaving the list's SelectedItem unchanged.   Hey Sorry the title is not very clear. This is a follow up to my earlier question where one of the members helped me with a query. I have a following friends Table Friend friend_id - primary key user_id user_id_friend status The way the table is populated is - when I send a friend request to John - my userID appears in user_id and Johns userID appears in user_id_friend. Now another scenario is say Mike sends me a friend request - in this case mike's userID will appear in user_id and my userID will appear in user_id_friend So to find all my friends - I need to run a query to find where my userID appears in both user_id column as well as user_id_friend column What I am trying to do now is - when I search for user say John - I want all users Johns listed on my site to show up along with the status of whether they are my friend or not and if they are not - then show a "Add Friend" button. Based on the previous post - I got this query which does part of the job - My example user_id is 1: SELECT u.user_id, f.status FROM user u LEFT OUTER JOIN friend f ON f.user_id = u.user_id and f.user_id_friend = 1 where u.name like '%' So this only shows users with whom I am friends where they have sent me request ie my userID appears in user_id_friend. Although I am friends with others (where my userID appears in user_id column) - this query will return that as null To get those I need another query like this SELECT u.user_id, f.status FROM user u LEFT OUTER JOIN friend f ON f.user_id_friend = u.user_id and f.user_id = 1 where u.name like '%' So how do I combine these queries to return 1 set of users and what my friendship status with them is.   Hey all! Just curious what your naming conventions are for the following: Repository name Branches Tags Right now, we're employing the following standards with SVN, but would like to improve on it: Each project has its own repository Each repository has a set of directories: tags, branches, trunk Tags are immutable copies of the the tree (release, beta, rc, etc.) Branches are typically feature branches Trunk is ongoing development (quick additions, bug fixes, etc.) Now, with that said, I'm curious how everyone is not only handling the naming of their repositories, but also their tags and branches. For example, do you employ a camel case structure for the project name? So, if your project is something like Backyard Baseball for Youngins, how do you handle that? backyardBaseballForYoungins backyard_baseball_for_youngins BackyardBaseballForYoungins backyardbaseballforyoungins That seems rather trivial, but it's a question. If you're going with the feature branch paradigm, how do you name your feature branches? After the feature itself in plain English? Some sort of versioning scheme? I.e. say you want to add functionality to the Backyard Baseball app that allows users to add their own statistics. What would you call your branch? {repoName}/branches/user-add-statistics {repoName}/branches/userAddStatistics {repoName}/branches/user_add_statistics etc. Or: {repoName}/branches/1.1.0.1 If you go the version route, how do you correlate the version numbers? It seems that feature branches wouldn't benefit much from a versioning schema, being that 1 developer could be working on the "user add statistics" functionality, and another developer could be working on the "admin add statistics" functionality. How are these do branch versions named? Are they better off being: {repoName}/branches/1.1.0.1 - user add statistics {repoName}/branches/1.1.0.2 - admin add statistics And once they're merged into the trunk, the trunk might increment appropriately? Tags seem like they'd benefit the most from version numbers. With that being said, how are you correlating the versions for your project (whether it be trunk, branch, tag, etc.) with SVN? I.e. how do you, as the developer, know that 1.1.1 has admin add statistics, and user add statistics functionality? How are these descriptive and linked? It'd make sense for tags to have release notes in each tag since they're immutable. But, yeah, what are your SVN policies going forward?

Replies are defined by the ParentID column, which is self-referencing.

• Images missing after moving Django to new server

  I'm moving Django project to new server. I'm newbie in Django, and I don't know where should be upload folder. There are all images which should be displayed on website. In config file I haven't seen upload folder I could specify, so I'm guessing it always should be the same location for django projects or I just can't find it. Locations are saved in database. When I've put uploaded files into media folder, so url was like domain.co.uk/media/upload/media/images/year/month/day/image_name.ext and the same is on the old website, images on website ware still missing. All images are visible if I put url by hand, but django doesn't seems to see files. • Is MEF an all-or-nothing affair?

  I've had a few questions about MEF recently, but here's the big one -- is it really all-or-nothing, as it appears to be? My basic application structure is simply an app, several shared libraries that are intended to be singletons, and several different plugins (which may implement different interfaces). The app loads the plugins, and both the app and all plugins need to access the shared libraries. My first go at MEF was fairly successful, although I made some stupid mistakes along the way because I was trying so many different things, I just got confused at times. But in the end, last night I got my smallish test app running with MEF, some shared libraries, and one plugin. Now I'm moving onto the target app, which I already described. And it's the multiple plugins part that has be a bit worried. My existing application already supports multiple plugins with different interfaces by using Reflection. I need to be able to uniquely identify each plugin so that the user can select one and get the expected behavior exposed by that plugin. The problem is that I don't know how to do this yet... but that's the topic of a different question. Ideally, I'd be able to take my existing plugin loader and use it as-is, while relying on MEF to do the shared library resolution. The problem is, I can't seem to get MEF to load them (i.e. I get a CompositionException when calling ComposeParts()) unless I also use MEF to load the plugin. And if I do this, well... then I need to know how to keep track of them as they get loaded so the user can select one from a list of plugins. What have your experiences been with trying to mix and match these approaches?

  When using Struts2 validation, when you put the <s:actionerror> tag in your JSP, the default behavior is to display all the action errors at that point in the page.
