  • where to set wait cursor in long operation in MVP pattern?

    - by Benny
    For a long operation that will be executed in presenter, where to set the wait cursor? in View? the view shouldn't know too much about business logic, it is passive. in presenter? seems odd in presenter to call UI code. add method to View interface, like SetWait(bool), and call it in presenter? So what do you think?

  • Conditional Statement as Hierarchy jQuery

    - by Jacob Lowe
    Is there a way to make jQuery use objects in a conditional statement as an object in a hierarchy. For Example, I want to validate that something exist then tell it to do something just using the this selector. Like this if ($(".tnImg").length) { //i have to declare what object I am targeting here to get this to work $(this).animate({ opacity: 0.5, }, 200 ); } Is there a way to get jQuery to do this? I guess theres not a huge benefit but i still am curious

  • Django: Generating a queryset from a GET request

    - by Nimmy Lebby
    I have a Django form setup using GET method. Each value corresponds to attributes of a Django model. What would be the most elegant way to generate the query? Currently this is what I do in the view: def search_items(request): if 'search_name' in request.GET: query_attributes = {} query_attributes['color'] = request.GET.get('color', '') if not query_attributes['color']: del query_attributes['color'] query_attributes['shape'] = request.GET.get('shape', '') if not query_attributes['shape']: del query_attributes['shape'] items = Items.objects.filter(**query_attributes) But I'm pretty sure there's a better way to go about it.

  • XVal validation framework

    - by csetzkorn
    Hi, I started using this validation framework: http://blog.stevensanderson.com/2009/01/10/xval-a-validation-framework-for-aspnet-mvc/ Steve mentions that the DataAnnotationsValidationRunner implementation is slightly naive. Why is this and are there better implementations? I am also looking for a good example that uses this framework to validate database dependent business rules. Any pointers would be very much appreciated. Thanks. Christian

  • Re-using Buttons in WPF

    - by Alex Marshall
    I have a bunch of different objects that are commonly edited in the same TabControl using different DataTemplates, but I want each DataTemplate to have a common look and feel with Ok and Cancel buttons at the bottom right of each tab that will close the tab or save the content and then close the currently selected tab. What's the best way to place buttons on each tab ? Is there a way to do it without copying and pasting the buttons and stack panel across all of my data templates ?

  • Object declaration in Objective-C

    - by Sahat
    Is there any difference in declaring objects in Objective-C between (1) and (2), besides the style and personal preference? (1) One-line declaration, allocation, initialization. Student *myStudent = [[Student alloc] init]; (2) Multi-line declaration, allocation, initialization. Student *myStudent; myStudent = [Student alloc]; myStudent = [myStudent init];

  • Integers not properly returned from a property list (plist) array in Objective-C

    - by Gaurav
    In summary, I am having a problem where I read what I expect to be an NSNumber from an NSArray contained in a property list and instead of getting a number such as '1', I get what looks to be a memory address (i.e. '61879840'). The numbers are clearly correct in the property list. Below is my process for creating the property list and reading it back. Creating the property list I have created a simple Objective-C property list with arrays of integers within one root array: <array> <array> <integer>1</integer> <integer>2</integer> </array> <array> <integer>1</integer> <integer>2</integer> <integer>5</integer> </array> ... more arrays with integers ... </array> The arrays are NSArray objects and the integers are NSNumber objects. The property list has been created and serialized using the following code: // factorArray is an NSArray that contains NSArrays of NSNumbers as described above // serialize and compress factorArray as a property list, Factors-bin.plist NSString *error; NSString *rootPath = [NSSearchPathForDirectoriesInDomains(NSDocumentDirectory, NSUserDomainMask, YES) objectAtIndex:0]; NSString *plistPath = [rootPath stringByAppendingPathComponent:@"Factors-bin.plist"]; NSData *plistData = [NSPropertyListSerialization dataFromPropertyList:factorArray format:NSPropertyListBinaryFormat_v1_0 errorDescription:&error]; Inspecting the created plist, all values and types are correct. Reading the property list The property list is read in as Data and then converted to an NSArray: NSString *path = [[NSBundle mainBundle] pathForResource:@"Factors" ofType:@"plist"]; NSData *plistData = [[NSData alloc] initWithContentsOfFile:path]; NSPropertyListFormat format; NSString *error = nil; NSArray *factorData = (NSArray *)[NSPropertyListSerialization propertyListFromData:plistData mutabilityOption:NSPropertyListImmutable format:&format errorDescription:&error]; Cycling through factorData to see what it contains is where I see the erroneous integers: for (int i = 0; i < 10; i++) { NSArray *factorList = (NSArray *)[factorData objectAtIndex:i]; NSLog(@"Factors of %d\n", i + 1); for (int j = 0; j < [factorList count]; j++) { NSLog(@" %d\n", (NSNumber *)[factorList objectAtIndex:j]); } } I see all the correct number of values, but the values themselves are incorrect, i.e.: Factors of 3 61879840 (should be 1) 61961200 (should be 3) Factors of 4 61879840 (should be 1) 61943472 (should be 2) 61943632 (should be 4) Factors of 5 61879840 (should be 1) 61943616 (should be 5)

  • How to display total record count against models in django admin

    - by Rog
    Is there a neat way to make the record/object count for a model appear on the main model list in the admin module? I have found techniques for showing counts of related objects within sets in the list_display page (and I can see the total in the pagination section at the bottom of the same), but haven't come across a neat way to show the record count at the model list level.

  • Zend Form: How to pass parameters into the constructor?

    - by Andrew
    I'm trying to test my form. It will be constructing other objects, so I need a way to mock them. I tried passing them into the constructor... class Form_Event extends Zend_Form { public function __construct($options = null, $regionMapper = null) { $this->_regionMapper = $regionMapper; parent::__construct($options); } ...but I get an exception: Zend_Form_Exception: Only form elements and groups may be overloaded; variable of type "Mock_Model_RegionMapper_b19e528a" provided What am I doing wrong?

  • java memory management

    - by pavlos
    i have the following code snapshot: public void getResults( String expression, String collection ){ ReferenceList list; Vector lists = new Vector(); list = invertedIndex.get( 1 )//invertedIndex is class member lists.add(list); } when the method is finished, i supose that the local objects ( list, lists) are "destroyed". Can you tell if the memory occupied by list stored in invertedIndex is released as well? Or does java allocate new memory for list when assigning list = invertedIndex.get( 1 );

    Hi I want to get a bunch of dom-objects with xpath and loop through those to check if they contains a specified text, is this possible in the Selenium IDE or rc? Perl is my prefered language XPath would be something like xpath=//tbody[@class='table-data']/tr/td/div[@class='table-item'] This would return all row items in the table, but i need to check each div if contains a specified text string. Is this possible with Selenium? Best regards

  • How to detect if an ellipse intersects(collides with) a circle

    - by php html
    I want to improve a collision system. Right now I detect if 2 irregular objects collide if their bounding rectangles collide. I want to obtain the for rectangle the corresponding ellipse while for the other one to use a circle. I found a method to obtain the ellipse coordinates but I have a problem when I try to detect if it intersects the circle. Do you know a algorithm to test if a circle intersects an ellipse?

  • Friction in Box2d

    - by Rosarch
    I am using Box2d for a topdown game. The "ground" is a series of tiles, where each tile is a static body with a sensor shape. Can I make friction take effect for this, even though the objects aren't really "colliding" with the ground? If Box2d won't let me do this, I considered trying to implement my own by detecting what force is currently moving the object, and applying a force opposite to it, but I'm not quite sure how to detect that force.

  • Silverlight vs web 2.0

    - by nathan gonzalez
    i understand that silverlight has come a long way since its inception, but i have always struggled to find the business need for silverlight. i'd love to hear the advantages and disadvantages of silverlight 4.0 vs modern html5 and javascript libraries like jQuery or ExtJS from some people who are more in the know than i am. is silverlight the way of the future or a stumbling block on the path to a plugin free web?

  • How do I concatenate strings in Objective-C?

    - by Typeoneerror
    Are there any shortcuts to (stringByAppendingString:) string concatenation in Objective-C or shortcuts for working with NSString or other objects in general? e.g. I'd like to make this: NSString *myString = @"This"; NSString *test = [myString stringByAppendingString:@" is just a test"]; something more like this: string myString = "This"; string test = myString + " is just a test";

  • Creating new JCAPS eWays (like HL7, JMS, ...)

    - by Kevin
    Hello, I'm wondering how, in JCAPS 6, we can create new eWays. By eWay, I mean the components like the existing HL7, JMS, File, eMails (ie, external applications) ... I am not sure about the exact name of these entites, "API oriented OTD", JBI, JCA. Basically, I would like to create an object that: - is part of the Connectivity Map - has properties (which can be overwritten in Glassfish) - can cooperate dynamically with my Collaborations (JCDs) Does anyone know how to create such objects? Thanks, Kevin

  • How can i get a list of currently running threads in objective-C(iphone)

    - by krasnyk
    Is there a way to get the list of currently running threads in objective-C? I'm mostly interested in getting the NSThreads objects, cause i want to replace the assertion handler for each running thread? If such thing is not possible, maybe i could set my own selector to be invoked after any thread is spawn(so that i could do the assertion handler replacement over there)?
