• Can you suggest good ways of generating URLS for viewing tagged content

  For example, here on stack overflow the URL http://stackoverflow.com/questions/tagged/javascript+php will give you all questions tagged with javascript and php. The system I have allows tags with spaces in them, so the approach used here would not be a good fit for me. What character would you use to separate the tags, so the URLs are still human readable, google readable and web browser compatible. My gut feeling was to use commas. eg http://example.com/tagged/first+tag,second+tag Any feedback or suggestions would be welcome.

  I am developing site for online advertisements where sellers and buyers can come and sell/buy advertisements. Just need to develop detailed statistics like click counts, from which page clicks are coming (one advertisement can be placed on many pages), from which position (top, right, left ...) click are coming (one advertisement can be placed in different position on single page) etc. I seen that most of the advertisement on popular websites has following format: http://ads.stackoverflow.com/a.aspx?Task=Click&ZoneID=3&CampaignID=838&AdvertiserID=50&BannerID=1335&SiteID=1&RandomNumber=1463177307&Keywords=c%23%2c.net%2ccollections%2cdictionary%2chashtable It has many parameters like ZoneID, CampaignID, AdvertiserID, BannerID, SiteID, RandomNumber, adid, adcrid, obid, obtid and way. I can use one advertisement (adid) in multiple pages. But can't figure out the way to distinguish between from which pages clicks are coming. How can I use such parameters to generate statistics which tell me the page from which clicks are coming?

  Currently I have something like this in my JSP <c:url value="/teams/${contact.id}/${contact.name}" /> The important part of my URL is the ID, I just put the name on it for SEO purposes (just like stackoverflow.com does). I was just wondering if there is a quick and clean way to encode the name (change spaces per +, latin chars removal, etc). I'd like it to be like this: <c:url value="/teams/${contact.id}/${supercool(contact.name)}" /> Is there a function like that out there or should I make my own?

  I have written a program for a stack. My question is there any other way except for a StringBuilder for such kind of problem? Also in what other kind of cases does this kind of problem happen? • Can I animate a radial gradient in iPhone?

  I would like to animate a radial gradient to shrink and grow the inner radius, as if it were pulsing. Right now I'm rendering the gradient with CGGradient, but I'm not sure how to animate it. I've seen this topic http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1819311/can-you-animate-gradients-using-quartz-in-an-iphone Which explains how animate a linear gradient with CAGradientLayer, but it doesn't seem like this will draw a radial gradient. Is there an easy way to animate a CGGradient, or some way to create a radial gradient CAGradientLayer? Any thoughts are appreciated.

  I've read all the answers on stackoverflow for similar questions but no one really laid down an explanation: why is zend/symfony/kohana/cakePHP the best for jQuery? what is the difference? I'm writing a snazzy ultra-cool web 2.0 app with google maps and facebook connect integration plus a bunch of other APIs. Almost everything will be AJAX vis JSON. For me PHP is a burden, an unnecessary evil. I need database control, almost always via JSON. I need user authentication. This is all. Nothing fancy. And I need it to scale. Most of all I need it to work effortlessly with jQuery, I need it to be jQuery's BFF, and I need to know why it is so. Thank you very much EDIT: The candidates right now are Yii, CodeIgniter and MongoDB.

• Autorelease for CGMutablePathRef?

  Hi, I am developing for iphone. I want to creating a mutable path via CGPathCreateMutable(), and I want to return it out of the function which creates it. I'm suppose to call a CGPathRelease() when I'm done with it. But since I'm returning it I wish to autorelease it. Since Quartz path is a C code (and doesn't look like an objective C object), is it correct that I cannot call autorelease on it? • What is the "task" in twitter Storm parallelism

  I'm trying to learn twitter storm by following the great article "Understanding the parallelism of a Storm topology" However I'm a bit confused by the concept of "task". Is a task an running instance of the component(spout or bolt) ? A executor having multiple tasks actually is saying the same component is executed for multiple times by the executor, am I correct ? Moreover in a general parallelism sense, Storm will spawn a dedicated thread(executor) for a spout or bolt, but what is contributed to the parallelism by an executor(thread) having multiple tasks ? I think having multiple tasks in a thread, since a thread executes sequentially, only make the thread a kind of "cached" resource, which avoids spawning new thread for next task run. Am I correct? I may clear those confusion by myself after taking more time to investigate, but you know, we both love stackoverflow ;-) Thanks in advance.

• IIS7 Overrides customErrors when setting Response.StatusCode?

  Having a weird problem here. Everybody knows that if you use web.config's customErrors section to make a custom error page, that you should set your Response.StatusCode to whatever is appropriate. For example, if I make a custom 404 page and name it 404.aspx, I could put <% Response.StatusCode = 404 % in the contents in order to make it have a true 404 status header. Follow me so far? Good. Now try to do this on IIS7. I cannot get it to work, period. If Response.StatusCode is set in the custom error page, IIS7 seems to override the custom error page completely, and shows it's own status page (if you have one configured.) Has anyone else seen this behavior and also maybe know how to work around it? It was working under IIS6, so I don't know why things changed. Update: This is not the same as the issue in http://stackoverflow.com/questions/347281/asp-net-custom-404-returning-200-ok-instead-of-404-not-found

For example, my current directory tree looks like this: /apps /AAA /BBB /CCC /libs /XXX /YYY /ZZZ And I would like this instead: /apps /AAA /libs /XXX The --subdirectory-filter argument to git filter-branch won't work because it gets rid of everything except for the given directory the first time it's run. I thought using the --index-filter argument for all unwanted files would work (albeit tedious), but if I try running it more than once, I get the following message: Cannot create a new backup. A previous backup already exists in refs/original/ Force overwriting the backup with -f Any ideas? TIA

  Hi, I have a python app engine code (matured backend) - and we are now planning to have a front end for that code. I was wondering whether it is possible to implement GWT as the front end. Even though Alex Martelli in this post [1] mentions it is not possible, a comment to that post suggests that it is indeed possible using rpc over json for GWT. I was unable to understand how this is possible. In app.yaml file, we have to specify the language to be python, right? In that case, how can it compile GWT based on JAVA? Are there any examples on anyone doing that? Can someone help me out? It would be extremely helpful. It's restful distributed app, so it's easy to hook up I've spent some time with it, so using could save me time. Can I use Solr? Although the above reasons are good, I don't know SOLR THAT well, so I need to know if it would be appropriate for my requirements. Ideal Usage Ideally, I'd like to configure SOLR, and then be able to send SOLR some text, and retrieve the indexed tonkenized content. Context So you guys know, I'm working on a small component of a bigger recommendation engine.

I need to write a class that intercepts key strokes, if the input is determined to be from the keyboard wedge (as described in the above post) the data will be directed to POS classes to handle, otherwise they keystrokes must be passed on to be handled in windows in the normal manner.   I am in search of who specifically to contact at Sybase regarding Advantage Database Server's DBI driver, specifically DBD::Advantage. The only reference I can find is to one 'lancesc' in the README, but there are no references to a contact email, CPAN author etc. Inadvertantly I happened upon one StackOverflow user lancesc here. Would anyone happen to know who to contact regarding this? I do wish this was on CPAN. I've found a small bug regarding column quoting in the sql parser that they'd likely prefer to be made aware of. There are also several questions I have for them regarding failing functionality.

• c# RichTextBox Tab size

  Hello, I'm using System.Windows.Forms.RichTextBox and by default the tab size is 8 spaces. The RichTextBox itself is not that big and 8 spaces leads to a lot of scrolling. Is there any way to make it 4 spaces. If it matters, the control is initially blank and the user starts entering stuff and the tabs have to shorter (4 spaces) as the user enters text with tabs. I tried http://stackoverflow.com/questions/154204/modifying-default-tab-size-in-richtextbox and a few variations of it but no luck.

• Remove unnecessary svn:mergeinfo properties

  When I merge stuff in my repository Subversion wants to add/change a lot of svn:mergeinfo properties to files that are totally unrelated to the things that I want to merge. Questions about this behaviour have been asked before here on Stackoverflow.com, as you can read here and here. From what I understand from the topics mentioned above it looks like a lot of files in my repository have explicit svn:mergeinfo properties on them, when they shouldn't. The advice is to reduce the amount and only put those properties on relevant files/folders. So now my question: how can I easily remove those unneeded properties? I'm using TortoiseSVN, but am reluctant to manually check/fix hundreds of files. Is there an easier way to remove those unnecessary svn:mergeinfo properties? P.S. I'm not looking for C++ SVN API code.
