  • My CRON job won't run, any ideas?

    I've installed the following CRON job using 'crontab -e' through putty on my server, but it won't run and I have no idea why. This is the line I'm putting in and saving using 'crontab -e': 00 09-18 * * 1-5 /usr/bin/php5 /home/a/v/ava/public_html/p/app_availability_updates_flush.php It's a simple script I want to run on the hour during business hours. When I use 'crontab -l' it prints the following: 00 09-18 * * 1-5 /usr/bin/php5 /home/a/v/ava/public_html/p/app_availability_updates_flush.phproot@ds6639:~# Does that look right?

    Specifically, I have an Ubuntu 10.04 system with a headless Ubuntu 12.04 virtual machine, and I'm looking for a way to have it set up so pressing ctrl+alt+F8 will take me into another X client which is connected to an X server on the vm (with gdm appropriately displayed at startup, etc.). As in, my startup script should spin up the headless machine and then immediately perform a "startx" pointed at the vm.

To do that I first need to download the latest firmware snapshot by hand from Oracle's saggy and unsophisticated "My Oracle Support" (list of all firmware snapshots can be found at http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/systems/patches/firmware/release-history-jsp-138416.html).     I use eCryptFS to encrypt the home directory of my laptop. My backup script copies the encrypted files to a server (together with everything else in (home/.ecryptfs). How can I mount the encrypted files of the backup? I'd like to verify that I can do that, and that everything is in place. My naive try with mount -t ecryptfs /backup/home/.ecryptfs/boldewyn /mnt/test didn't work, eCryptFS wanted to create a new partition.

Google has plenty of solutions for Nginx but not a word for Apache.

It's been a while since I dealt directly with apache, but my memory and google seem to indicate that the only way to rotate apache log files is outside of apache, using a periodic script. Is there some convenient way I'm missing to rotate these?

  • Executing git post-receive hook on windows server

    I trying to execute a post-receive hook on a windows server git(msysgit) installation - to sync the repo to codebasehq. The script does nothing more than just wget "url" but it doesn't seem to be executing. I've renamed the "post-receive.sample" to "post-receive" and installed wget to windows path which works fine via the command prompt. Is there something I'm not doing here? I would appreciate any insights on how to get this working. Thanks.

    Hi, Win 2003 SBS has started requiring password for a domain user. It's weird because it doesn't requires it every time...sometimes it will work (automatic shares through logon script) and sometimes it won't...lets the user in after 2-3 tries (wrong password errors) and the loads the share with the same pass...   • How do I keep windows XP from automatically changing the screen resolution?

    I have an Asus EEEBox (EB202, intel GMA 950) hooked up to my 1080p TV (DVI-HDMI cable). I use it to watch standard definition movies and TV shows. I prefer to run at 1280x720 so that I can see things more easily, but every time I turn off the TV, then back on again, the resolution defaults to 1080p (1920x1080). How can I force a specific resolution? If that's not possible, is there a way to use a batch script to switch to the desired resolution faster?

    I have this application that lists files in a WindowsForms listbox (NET framework). The application does not support the copy operation if multiple files are selected in the listbox, but at the same time, the application supports 'drag and drop' event for multiple files (allows dragging the files 'out of the application'). How can I extract the paths of the files 'dragged out of the application'? (i.e. I drop the files on some program / script that shows me the paths / saves the paths to a txt file).
