  • SQL Server 2005 Reporting Services and the Report Viewer

    I am having an issue embedding my report into an aspx page. Here's my setup: 1 Server running SQL Server 2005 and SQL Server 2005 Reporting Services 1 Workstation running XP and VS 2005 The server is not on a domain. Reporting Services is a default installation. I have one report called TestMe in a folder called TestReports using a shared datasource. If I view the report in Report Manager, it renders fine. If I view the report using the http ://myserver/reportserver url it renders fine. If I view the report using the http ://myserver/reportserver?/TestReports/TestMe it renders fine. If I try to view the report using http ://myserver/reportserver/TestReports/TestMe, it just goes to the folder navigation page of the home directory. My web application is impersonating somebody specific to get around the server not being on a domain. When I call the report from the report viewer using http ://myserver/reportserver as the server and /TestReports/TestMe as the path I get this error: For security reasons DTD is prohibited in this XML document. To enable DTD processing set the ProhibitDtd property on XmlReaderSettings to false and pass the settings into XmlReader.Create method. When I change the server to http ://myserver/reportserver? I get this error when I run the report: Client found response content type of '', but expected 'text/xml'. The request failed with an empty response. I have been searching for a while and haven't found anything that fixes my issue. Please let me know if there is more information needed. Thanks in advance, Kendra

  • Build System with Recursive Dependency Aggregation

    Hi, I recently began setting up my own library and projects using a cross platform build system (generates make files, visual studio solutions/projects etc on demand) and I have run into a problem that has likely been solved already. The issue that I have run into is this: When an application has a dependency that also has dependencies then the application being linked must link the dependency and also all of its sub-dependencies. This proceeds in a recursive fashion e.g. (For arguments sake lets assume that we are dealing exclusively with static libraries.) TopLevelApp.exe dependency_A dependency_A-1 dependency_A-2 dependency_B dependency_B-1 dependency_B-2 So in this example TopLevelApp will need to link dependency_A, dependency_A-1, dependency_A-2 etc and the same for B. I think the responsibility of remembering all of these manually in the target application is pretty sub optimal. There is also the issue of ensuring the same version of the dependency is used across all targets (assuming that some targets depend on the same things, e.g. boost). Now linking all of the libraries is required and there is no way of getting around it. What I am looking for is a build system that manages this for you. So all you have to do is specify that you depend on something and the appropriate dependencies of that library will be pulled in automatically. The build system I have been looking at is premake premake4 which doesn't handle this (as far as I can determine). Does anyone know of a build system that does handle this? and if there isn't then why not?

  • How do I compress a Json result from ASP.NET MVC with IIS 7.5

    I'm having difficulty making IIS 7 correctly compress a Json result from ASP.NET MVC. I've enabled static and dynamic compression in IIS. I can verify with Fiddler that normal text/html and similar records are compressed. Viewing the request, the accept-encoding gzip header is present. The response has the mimetype "application/json", but is not compressed. I've identified that the issue appears to relate to the MimeType. When I include mimeType="*/*", I can see that the response is correctly gzipped. How can I get IIS to compress WITHOUT using a wildcard mimeType? I assume that this issue has something to do with the way that ASP.NET MVC generates content type headers. The CPU usage is well below the dynamic throttling threshold.   • How do I repopulate the view model in ASP.NET MVC 2 after a validation error?

    I'm using ASP.NET MVC 2 and here's the issue. My View Model looks something like this. It includes some fields which are edited by the user and others which are used for display purposes. Here's a simple version public class MyModel { public decimal Price { get; set; } // for view purpose only [Required(ErrorMessage="Name Required")] public string Name { get; set; } } The controller looks something like this: public ActionResult Start(MyModel rec) { if (ModelState.IsValid) { Repository.SaveModel(rec); return RedirectToAction("NextPage"); } else { // validation error return View(rec); } } The issue is when there's a validation error and I call View(rec), I'm not sure the best way to populate my view model with the values that are displayed only. The old way of doing it, where I pass in a form collection, I would do something like this: public ActionResult Start(FormCollection collection) { var rec = Repository.LoadModel(); UpdateModel(rec); if (ModelState.IsValid) { Repository.SaveModel(rec); return RedirectToAction("NextPage"); } else { // validation error return View(rec); } } But doing this, I get an error on UpdateModel(rec): The model of type 'MyModel' could not be updated. Any ideas?

    I've got a particularly ornery piece of network code. I'm using asio but that really doesn't matter for this question. I assume there is no way to unbind a socket other than closing it. The problem is that open(), bind(), and listen() can all throw a system_error. So I handled the code with a simple try/catch. The code as written in broken. using namespace boost::asio; class Thing { public: ip::tcp::endpoint m_address; ip::tcp::acceptor m_acceptor; /// connect should handle all of its exceptions internally. bool connect() { try { m_acceptor.open( m_address.protocol() ); m_acceptor.set_option( tcp::acceptor::reuse_address(true) ); m_acceptor.bind( m_address ); m_acceptor.listen(); m_acceptor.async_accept( /*stuff*/ ); } catch( const boost::system::system_error& error ) { assert(acceptor.is_open()); m_acceptor.close(); return false; } return true; } /// don't call disconnect unless connect previously succeeded. void disconnect() { // other stuff needed to disconnect is ommited m_acceptor.close(); } }; The error is if the socket fails to connect it will try to close it in the catch block and throw another system_error about closing an acceptor that has never been opened. One solution is to add an if( acceptor.is_open() ) in the catch block but that tastes wrong. Kinda like mixing C-style error checking with c++ exceptions.     Anyone know why CSS provides "color:" for text, but does not have "font-color:" or "text-color:"? Seems very counter-intuitive.. kind of like "text-decoration: bold" rather than "font-style: ". I must be new here. :o) Seriously, does anyone know why/how the w3c came up with such a wide array of CSS names like this?

Same for PDF. Without the Grid, all exporters leave out the quotation marks. What magic do I need to get rid of the quotation marks in the PDF?

  • Creating a bundle - What's going wrong?

    Hello everyone, I've got a relatively simple one here. I'm making bundles to live inside the Resources folder of my application (and possibly in the Application Support folder). These bundles will contain template information for the data the application handles. I've constructed a bundle, with extension "booksprintstyle", and the directory structure is up to spec. I have an Info.plist all set and I think I've filled in all the values I need to. Do I need to change something in my App to have these folders-with-extensions recognized as bundle files, or am I missing something in my bundle structure? I noticed that some bundles have a file called PkgInfo; is that important? That allows us to use arbitrary view methods as action handlers. The existing issue is that the input to the form, only displays on the console and not on jsfiddle result section, though no error displays on the result section, there is a new error appearing in the console of the updated fiddle: Uncaught Error: Cannot perform operations on a Metamorph that is not in the DOM. Finally solved I needed to comment out App.initialize() for it to work as expected. This the working fiddle ** http://jsfiddle.net/ACzaJ/20/. I don't know why that is so, but my guess is that, App.initialize works with other parts like the router for routing, ApplicationController and ApplicationView with {{outlet}} in the handlebars, which i didn't need for this fiddle. Finally Finally and completely solved This ** http://jsfiddle.net/tQWn8/ works with App.initialize. But you have to declare all those components above and pass the router to App.initialize, like this App..initialize(router). If you don't do this, then you will get the old error Uncaught Error: Cannot perform operations on a Metamorph that is not in the DOM.

  • Symfony/Propel NestedSet left/right ID corruption/adjustment

    Hi folks, I have a nested set application that seems to be getting corrupted. Here's what I'm seeing: We're using nested sets for a binary tree (any node can have 2 children). It appears to be working fine, but some event causes a discrepancy. For instance, when I do a getNumberOfDescendants() for the root node, it will slowly increase as this event happens. However, displaying the tree works fine, as does inserting (apparently). Has anybody seen anything like this before? For instance, my repair program shows this as the repairs that it makes: User pxxxxx left 0=>0, right 145=>129 User axxxxx left 1=>1, right 124=>106 User mxxxxx left 119=>117, right 120=>118 User fxxxxx left 125=>107, right 144=>128 User fxxxxx left 126=>108, right 131=>113 User rxxxxx left 127=>109, right 128=>110 User mxxxxx left 129=>111, right 130=>112 User mxxxxx left 132=>114, right 143=>127 User cxxxxx left 133=>115, right 142=>126 User gxxxxx left 134=>116, right 137=>121 User mxxxxx left 135=>119, right 136=>120 User jxxxxx left 138=>122, right 141=>125 User axxxxx left 139=>123, right 140=>124 I thought at first it was when I deleted a user, but it has since occurred w/o that event.     I have found similar questions to mine but none of the suggestions seems to apply to my situation, so here goes... I have a webpage with a buch of images on them. Each image has a title which in markup is between h2 tags. The title is a link, so the resulting markup is like this: <ul class="imagelist"> <li> <a href=""><h2>Title 1</h2></a> <a href=""><img src="" /></a> </li> <li> Image 2, etc... </li> </ul> All I want is for the title links to not be underlined. I tried to address this like this: .imagelist li a h2 { color:#333; text-decoration:none; } It completely ignores the text-decoration rule, yet respects the color rule. From other questions I learned that this could be because a child element cannot overrule the text-decoration of any of its parents. So, I went looking for the parent elements to see if any explicit text-decoration rules are applied. I found none. This is driving me crazy, any help?   • How to tell what name RIA Services/EF Model uses for Associations?

    Hi, I'm working on a C#.NET 3.5 WCF RIA Services app and having an issue with my Entity Framework model. My entity Foo is mapped to a DB table and has a primary key called FooId. My Bar is mapped to a DB view. I've selectively designed this view to generate a composite key in the EF using two of the columns (by making sure they were non-nullable and the others are all nullable. This was done using NULLIF and ISNULL in the view design.) I'm able to add this view to the model with no problem but I keep running into an issue when I try to map an association between the two. Foo should contain many Bars but I keep getting the following error when I add the association: Unable to retrieve AssociationType for association 'FK_Bar_Foo' According to this page, it looks like this might work if I can properly name the association (since RIA Services looks for specific names.) I've tried several variants of names that match the pattern of other associations with no success. Does anyone know if there's a place I can look to find out what name it's looking for? Thanks,

  • UIWebViewDelegate returns different error message on iPod Touch 2G and 3G

    Hi I have an app developed using SDK 3.0. My view has a UIWebView whose delegate is the viewcontroller. I want to show an error message when the webview does not load (in case the touch goes out of wifi range or wifi is turned off) I override this method to show an alert - (void)webView:(UIWebView *)wbView didFailLoadWithError:(NSError *)error But this caused an issue when some links were clicked on the webview. The page loaded but if some images from the previous page were not loaded, the method call was triggered. Testing on an iPod Touch 3G, the NSError's userInfo has the localized description as no Internet connection if load fails due to no internet connection. But this only seems to be true for an iPod Touch 3G. 2G shows a different message (I got to know from some beta testers. They aren't very technical so can't tell them to get me the logs or anything.) Can anyone with an iPod Touch 2G tell me the values for the NSError userInfo? Or better still, did anyone else face this issue? How did you resolve it? Thanks.

    What is wrong with this and how could I fix it. I have css menu (horizontal) that I want the background and font to be changed when one of the items is selected.   • How can I enable PHP5 for a site? Having problems with every single method.

    I'm working on a client site that is hosted on someone's DIY Debian Linux server [Apache/1.3.33 (Debian GNU/Linux)], and I'm trying to install a script that requires PHP5. By default, the server parses .php files with PHP 4.3.10-22, which is configured at /etc/php4/apache/php.ini, according to phpinfo(). On the server I can see a config directory for PHP5 adjacent to the PHP4 directory: /etc/php5.0/apache2/php.ini. I have tried multiple methods to enable PHP5 for the document root where the site's files are hosted, including all available methods mentioned here. By far, the most common suggestion I've found is to add one or both of the following lines to the site's .htaccess file: AddHandler application/x-httpd-php5 .php AddType application/x-httpd-php5 .php Trouble is, when either or both of those lines are present, the site forces my browser to download any .php files requested, without parsing the PHP at all. All of the other methods mentioned in the above article cause a 500 Internal Server Error. There is no hosting control panel I can access in a browser to enable PHP5 for the site, but I do have shell access. When I asked the server administrator about this issue, he encouraged me to search for the answer on Google. Where could I begin to troubleshoot this issue? Are there ways to test or verify the server's specific PHP5 installation and configuration, using the command line or some other method? Do you have other suggestions to enable PHP5?

  • Delivery of JMS message before the transaction is committed

    Hi, I have a very simple scenario involving a database and a JMS in an application server (Glassfish). The scenario is dead simple: 1. an EJB inserts a row in the database and sends a message. 2. when the message is delivered with an MDB, the row is read and updated. The problem is that sometimes the message is delivered before the insert has been committed in the database. This is actually understandable if we consider the 2 phase commit protocol: 1. prepare JMS 2. prepare database 3. commit JMS 4. ( tiny little gap where message can be delivered before insert has been committed) 5. commit database I've discussed this problem with others, but the answer was always: "Strange, it should work out of the box". My questions are then: How could it work out-of-the box? My scenario sounds fairly simple, why isn't there more people with similar troubles? Am I doing something wrong? Is there a way to solve this issue correctly? Here are a bit more details about my understanding of the problem: This timing issue exist only if the participant are treated in this order. If the 2PC treats the participants in the reverse order (database first then message broker) that should be fine. The problem was randomly happening but completely reproducible. I found no way to control the order of the participants in the distributed transactions in the JTA, JCA and JPA specifications neither in the Glassfish documentation. We could assume they will be enlisted in the distributed transaction according to the order when they are used, but with an ORM such as JPA, it's difficult to know when the data are flushed and when the database connection is really used. Any idea?
