  • Finding spelling of an element in an ignore case dictionary

    Hi, Weird question, but I have a dictionary created with StringComparer.OrdinalIgnoreCase, looks something like this AaA, 10 aAB, 20 AAC, 12 I then use myDictionary["AAA"] to find the value associated with the key, but what I also need to know is what the actual spelling of the key is in myDictionary, e.g. in this case I want it to return AaA. Any way to do this without a loop? Thx.

    I've got a scenario where I want to switch on two different tables in an outer join. It goes something like this:- select mytable.id, yourtable.id from mytable left outer join (case when mytable.id = 2 then table2 yourtable on table1.id = table2.id else table3 yourtable on table1.id = table3.id end) ...but it doesn't work. Any suggestions?

  • Find a base case for a recursive void method

    I am doing homework. I would like to build a base case for a recursion where ordering given numbers (list2) in ascending order. Purpose of writing this codes is that when all numbers are in ascending order then should stop calling a method called ascending(list2, list1); and all values in list2 should be shipped to list1. For instance, list2 = 6,5,4,3,2,1 then list2 becomes empty and list1 should be 1,2,3,4,5,6. I am trying to compare result with previous one and if matches then stop. But I can't find the base case to stop it. In addition, Both ascending() and fixedPoint() are void method. Anybody has idea? lol Took me 3 days... Now, imagine that you need to get all the roles related to an user, wich may be through it's related groups or directly related to him. In case the same role appears related to a group and the user directly, the role related to the user will prevail over the role given by the group.     For some reason this function confused me: def protocol(port): return port == "443" and "https://" or "http://" Can somebody explain the order of what's happening behind the scenes to make this work the way it does. I understood it as this until I tried it: Either A) def protocol(port): if port == "443": if bool("https://"): return True elif bool("http://"): return True return False Or B) def protocol(port): if port == "443": return True + "https://" else: return True + "http://" Is this some sort of special case in Python, or am I completely misunderstanding how statements work?

    Why does this fail: DECLARE @DATE VARCHAR(50) = 'dasf' SELECT CASE WHEN ISDATE(@DATE) = 1 THEN CONVERT(date,@DATE) ELSE @DATE END Msg 241, Level 16, State 1, Line 2 Conversion failed when converting date and/or time from character string. Why is it trying to convert dasf to date when it clearly causes ISDATE(@DATE) = 1 to evaluate to false... If I do: SELECT ISDATE(@DATE) The return value is 0.

    When i dump a table with uppercase letters using mysqldump it comes out as lower case in my dump.sql file. I found a report here in 2006, almost 4 years old http://bugs.mysql.com/bug.php?id=19967 A solution here suggest making linux insensitive. I rather not if possible. Whats the easiest way to copy a win32 db into linux?

    I am aware there is a function strcasecmp() that compares cstrings ignoring case, but I was wondering if there is a function that does the same thing except with strings? I am working with a bunch of strings, and feel like it would be terribly inefficient to have to use c_str() each time I want to compare them with strcasecmp(). Should I just use cstrings instead of strings...?
