  • jquery ui position fails with margin

    Hi, I am trying to use jQuery to position an inpage div (Context-Menu) relative to a clicked tablerow on a webpage. This works fine until I add an offset with either "left" or "margin-left" to the outer container. Using padding-left works.... The relevant code is: $('#supermenu').position({ my: "left top", at: "left top", of: $(event.target).closest('tr'), collision: "fit" }); The caller looks like: <tr onclick="getMenu(event)"><td>.... What happens: The left margin is added "twice" to the X Offset, so the Menu is not aligned to the left border of the table but somewhere right of it. The offset from the border is exactly the offset from the outer container. Anybody can shed some light? Oliver

    I have two models: class Solution < ActiveRecord::Base belongs_to :owner, :class_name => "User", :foreign_key => :user_id end class User < ActiveRecord::Base has_many :solutions end with the following routing: map.resources :users, :has_many => :solutions and here is the SolutionsController: class SolutionsController < ApplicationController before_filter :load_user def index @solutions = @user.solutions end private def load_user @user = User.find(params[:user_id]) unless params[:user_id].nil? end end Can anybody help me with writing a test for the index action? So far I have tried the following but it doesn't work: describe SolutionsController do before(:each) do @user = Factory.create(:user) @solutions = 7.times{Factory.build(:solution, :owner => @user)} @user.stub!(:solutions).and_return(@solutions) end it "should find all of the solutions owned by a user" do @user.should_receive(:solutions) get :index, :user_id => @user.id end end And I get the following error: Spec::Mocks::MockExpectationError in 'SolutionsController GET index, when the user owns the software he is viewing should find all of the solutions owned by a user' #<User:0x000000041c53e0> expected :solutions with (any args) once, but received it 0 times Thanks in advance for all the help.     This is more of an opinion seeking question, so there may not be a "right" answer, but I would welcome arguments as to why your answer is the "right" one. Given an MVC application that is using Entity Framework for the persistence engine, a repository layer, a service layer that basically defers to the repository, and a delete method on a controller that looks like this: public ActionResult Delete(State model) { try { if( model == null ) { return View( model ); } _stateService.Delete( model ); return RedirectToAction("Index"); } catch { return View( model ); } } I am looking for the proper way to Unit Test this. Currently, I have a fake repository that gets used in the service, and my unit test looks like this: [TestMethod] public void Delete_Post_Passes_With_State_4() { //Arrange var stateService = GetService(); var stateController = new StateController( stateService ); ViewResult result = stateController.Delete( 4 ) as ViewResult; var model = (State)result.ViewData.Model; //Act RedirectToRouteResult redirectResult = stateController.Delete( model ) as RedirectToRouteResult; stateController = new StateController( stateService ); var newresult = stateController.Delete( 4 ) as ViewResult; var newmodel = (State)newresult.ViewData.Model; //Assert Assert.AreEqual( redirectResult.RouteValues["action"], "Index" ); Assert.IsNull( newmodel ); } Is this overkill? Do I need to check to see if the record actually got deleted (as I already have Service and Repository tests that verify this)? Should I even use a fake repository here or would it make more sense just to mock the whole thing? The examples I'm looking at used this model of doing things, and I just copied it, but I'm really open to doing things in a "best practices" way. Thanks.

    I have the following controller test case: def test_showplain Cleaner.expect(:parse).with(@somecontent) Cleaner.any_instance.stubs(:plainversion).returns(@returnvalue) post :showplain, {:content => @somecontent} end This works fine, except that I want the "stubs(:plainversion)" to be an "expects(:plainversion)". Here's the controller code: def showplain Cleaner.parse(params[:content]) do | cleaner | @output = cleaner.plainversion end end And the Cleaner is simply: class Cleaner ### other code and methods ### def self.parse(@content) cleaner = Cleaner.new(@content) yield cleaner cleaner.close end def plainversion ### operate on @content and return ### end end Again, I can't figure out how to reliably test the "cleaner" that is made available from the "parse" method. Any suggestions?

This is to ensure the service contracts don't differ from time of release. I would like my tests to be self contained and not rely on any external resources such as hosting on IIS.   • Need help with jQuery UI Accordion navigationFilter option

    I'm building an accordion for navigation. Each section of the accordion has a set of links. The firing code looks like this: $(document).ready(function() { $(".selector").accordion({ collapsible: true, active: false, navigation: true }); }); This all worked fine and dandy until one of the links in each set was edited to point to a single file, call it foo.html. So now if you navigate to foo.html, the location.href matches every section of the accordion (since each section has a link to it) and that opens all the sections, defeating the purpose of the accordion. So I'm pretty sure I need to use the navigationFilter option but I've googled the living hell out of it and haven't found any examples of how to build the function associated with it. Help me, Stack Overflow!

  • Removing empty space with jQuery after deleting Selectable item

    I have two ordered lists and user can move items between them. I am using jQuery UI's Selectable for both of them. Problem is that when I move item from the middle of the list it leaves an empty space behind. How can I make list shrink according to the how many items is actually in the list?   • Embeddable unit testing framework for mixed Windows app

    I want to test portions of a very complex app which includes both a major native Windows component and a substantial WPF GUI. Due to complexities I can't detail, it is impossible to run the native portion independently nor can I isolate the areas I want to test (spare me the lectures, we're talking a huge legacy code base and we do have refactoring plans). I'm looking for a unit test kit I can invoke on the native side but must be able to run with the app launched with the managed portion initialised. That seems to rule out the run executable feature of the cfix Windows unit test kit. I really like their philosophy, like WinUnit, of using DLL compilation as a way to add the reflective capabilities missing in C++ and gain a more NUnit-like experience. Ideally, I want something like WinUnit running within the application code and generating an HTML report. I'm trying to introduce more TDD and having things as lean as possible is important.

  • General approach for posting business logic status messages to UI?

    Hello all. I have been struggling with this question for awhile now, and I haven't reached a conclusion. I'm not typically a UI programmer, so forgive the noobishness. I'm writing a typical application with a UI layer (WPF) and a business layer. I want to post status messages to the UI from the business layer (perhaps deep within the business layer), but I don't want the business layer to have any knowledge of the UI. Is there a generally accepted pattern for this? I was thinking to have a message queue of some sort to which the business layer posts status messages, and have the view model of the UI subscribe to that queue and intercept messages from the queue and route them to the UI. Is that a good approach? Is there somewhere else I should start? Thank you.

    Hello dear Stackoverflow gurus, I am trying to integrate JQuery tabs with my WordPress blog, to replace old HTML Navigation menu. I am half way there but not quiet... Take a look for yourself: http://www.isahat.com The template breaks right away since the first button of the Tab menu is linked to index.php like so: Home Info The second tab menu shows my Info page just fine, but on top of everything else. My home page and everything else gets shifted down to make room for Info page. And why after clicking on any article or even the tab link, my tab menu disappears and all my navigation links turn into a bullet list? Thank you, Sahat.

  • Turn off Jquery UI Accordion animation only during page load

    I'd like to turn off the accordian animation during page load, and then turn it back on after the page is loaded. Basically I've got multiple forms inside the accordion sections and when submitted the page gets reloaded and the relevant section is reloaded. But during the reload the animation is triggered which looks a little ugly. But I like it when the page is not being loaded. How do I achieve this effect?

    While this should be relatively straightforward, I can't figure out how to move (rather than copy) LI elements between ULs. All I want is to drag any item from list foo to list bar (or vice versa) without duplicating the element. While connectToSortable does almost exactly what I want (though I'd prefer to avoid sortable), it clones the element - and manually removing the original element by reacting to the stop event turns out to be not so easy (e.g. ensuring that a valid drop actually happened). A simple "hello world" example would help me greatly.

But in my controller I have a method, which takes args directly i.e.: def my_method(*args) ... end How do I call the method with those args from within the test? I've tried get :my_method(args) but Ruby interpreter complains about syntax error.
