    Hello, I am using the following rules in iptables in my network to use a transparent proxy * iptables -t nat -A PREROUTING -i eth0 -s ! squid-box -p tcp --dport 80 -j DNAT --to squid-box:3128 * iptables -t nat -A POSTROUTING -o eth0 -s local-network -d squid-box -j SNAT --to iptables-box * iptables -A FORWARD -s local-network -d squid-box -i eth0 -o eth0 -p tcp --dport 3128 -j ACCEPT But my squid log, always logs gateway IP (172.16.0.1) Do you know an alternative to not lose client IP? (of course avoid saing manual proxy setup!)

    I was wondering what would be the best way to implement DNS filterting. The scenario is this: we need to setup two custom DNS servers to use on our company's computers so that we can filter DNS requests for certain domains and return custom IPs and forward other requests to our ISPs DNS servers. We were thinking about using either PowerDNS or MyDNS because they support MySQL out of the box and we need to change the list of domains to filter quite often. Thanks a lot for your help! :)

  • DHCP and DNS on none AD 2003 Server PTR is updating but no A records

    I have a strange issue, I have a DHCP and DNS server running in a non AD environment, on Windows 2003 server. I setup DHCP to update DNS A and PTR records even if the client doesnt request it, but I only see PTR records updated, the A records are not created at all. The domain is "local" forward zone is called "local" and in the option 15 set to "local" (actual name) the PTR records are created with the right name (example: win64_ent.local), What am I missing here ?

    I had windows 7 installed on my Laptop,I installed windows 8 on it, without formatting the System Drive,Therefore now I can see two folders windows.old and Windows,The windows folder contain my new Windows 8, IS there any way that I can go back to Window 7? without formatting, This question is not programming related but I hope I can find some good answers here, If someone think that it is not fruitful, please comment on it, and I will delete that instead of down vote..   • IPvsadm not equally balancing on wlc scheduler

    For some reason, ipvsadm does not seem to be equally balancing the connections between my real servers when using the wlc or lc schedulers. One real server gets absolutely hammered with requests while the others receive relatively few connections. I was using ldirectord previously on a Gentoo based load balancer and the activeconn used to be accurate, since moving to Ubuntu 10.4 LTS something seems to be different. # ipvsadm -v ipvsadm v1.25 2008/5/15 (compiled with popt and IPVS v1.2.1) So, is ipvsadm not tracking active connections properly and thus making load balancing work incorrectly and if so, how do I get it to work properly again?   • Thunderbird confused about EPS attachments

    Sometimes, when I receive (Thunderbird 2.0.0.23 on OS X 10.5) emails with an EPS attachement sent from Mail OS X 10.4, I cannot open the EPS file. Thunderbird shows me 1 file, that can't be opened with any software but text edit. But, if I forward the email to myself, the forwarded email then has 2 files of the same name. One of the 2 forwarded files can be opened as expected. What can be wrong here?

Ideally I want to port-forward the MySQL port (3316 in this case) to a local port on my machine. I've tried plink -ssh -L 3306:my.sql.ip.address:3316 my.bastion.server ,but this is not working. I've got one ssh login for the bastion server and another login for the machine mysql server is running on.

Why does it output file names like this? And how do I get it to output backslashes, so I can use del on those files? Thanks

I'm likely to get different IPs from time to time and I can't really use a dedicated IP for the machine since the IPs are assigned by MAC address and the wireless card has a different MAC address than the Ethernet port. I'm using a NetGear CG3100 router.

    We currently use AR Soft RAM Disk on some Windows 2003 servers for storing short lived temporary files. Looking forward to a move to 64-bit Windows Server 2008 I'm wondering what options there are for a RAM disk since it appears AR Soft RAM Disk was discontinued in 2005. I'm not looking for any physical disk backing, just a pure RAM disk that appears like a normal drive to Windows. Does anyone have any experience with RAM disks on Windows Server 2008, especially for 64-bit?

However the version yum installed was SpamAssassin version 3.2.5 and I am finding that this version has many outdated rules -- including a rule FH_DATE_PAST_20XX which marks all email from the year 2010 and forward as spam. Not good. yum says SpamAssassin is up to date -- what can I do to make yum keep SpamAssassin really up to date?
