  • Network Printer installs driver every time i connect

    running a Citrix XenApp 6.5 Farm with a strange problem. Using Ricoh UPD 3.10 and every time a user log on into a Citrix Session and get the printers connected (via logon script) Windows shows the "Finishing installation..." dialog for every printer. The Drivers are installed on all Citrix Server and every time a user connects a printer the dialog appears. Are there any settings how to disable this behaviour?

  • Windows Home Server backup recovery missing driver for USB Device

    I'm doing a backup recovery of a Windows 7 PC from the backup on Windows Home Server. I've done this before and am accustomed to the prompt to load drivers for devices such as the NIC from a USB flash drive, which I have all loaded up with the drivers from the special folder in the WHS backup repository for this PC. My problem on this PC is that one of the drivers the recovery CD complains is missing is "USB Device", and it fails to find the drivers when I click the button to scan for and install drivers. So it seems it can't access the USB flash drive to load the other drivers. Any suggestions? I think my next step is to pull a DVD drive from another system and plug it in with a CD burned with the device drivers.

    I'm running Linux mint 15 32 bit on a Dell inspiron 2200. I have given up trying to get the Broadcom BCM4318 built in wireless working, so bought a Dynamode Nano 802.11n wireless USB adapter. It came with an install disc. I have no idea how to install it. Could someone please point me in the right direction for full, idiot proof, step by step instructions. I've been using Ubuntu 12.04 but am totally new to mint 15, so best to assume no previous knowledge. Thanks in advance.

I am seeing this error in the log: IPsec dropped an inbound clear text packet that should have been secured. If the remote computer is configured with a Request Outbound IPsec policy, this might be benign and expected. This can also be caused by the remote computer changing its IPsec policy without informing this computer. This could also be a spoofing attack attempt.     A co-worker of mine is using an air-card. It prompted him to install software in the notification tray, but he clicked on the wrong thing and the icon went away without him installing that software. How can I get that icon back? He can't install the software then. I know that you can download the software from the site, but we did that and were having issues from that too. Restarting and trying again doesn't pop up the notification either. Thanks.

    Hello, Can anyone tell me what the compatibility of drivers on 64bit vista are like on the Dell Inspiron 1525. Mine is just a year old now and I want to upgrade to 64bit vista. I wondered if there's known issues with drivers that I should be aware of before upgrading? Tony PS: is the upgrade worth it? My machine has 3GB of RAM and runs a T5800 2.0GHz DuoCore Processor. I use Visual Studio often and have loads of things open at the same time a lot. That's why I'm considering an upgrade.

  • AWS own email domain and some generic questions

    I'm getting started with Amazon Web Services and I have a few question I'm not sure about. As every (company) webpage I want to use an "[email protected]" email adress, but how is that done? I looked up at godaddy.com (for domain registration), the offer me an email adress like I want, but for 3 dollars per month. Is this possible with AWS? Because at AWS you have just a complex domain which is not very userfriendly or serious. Also I want to host my dynamic webpage on the amazon cloud, but I'm not sure if I'm doing that right. I've read many guides, and all I know is that I have to purchase a Elastic Compute Cloud, and a Simple Storage Service... and every guide is working with the basic linux package, why not Windows? Is it more expensive? I just want to host a mySQL Server for the dynamic webpage, which is reached over a normal domain. And one last question, if I sign up for an AWS account it asks me for an email account. But I found it a little bit unserious to write there my free-webmailer-adress... How is it done the normal way?     Is there an automated deployment tool that manages startup applications on a variety of machines, especially the Unices? Or is the only hope to study the nuts and bolts of each Unix (osx, linux, solaris, hpux, aix) on how to configure applications to launch on system startup? I want to run them as a specific user, instead of root. At the moment, I run them all within a screen session .. which is a hassle, as this requires manual intervention every time the machine is rebooted for some reason. Ideally, I am looking for a tool that would read, say, ~/.startup-programs which file contains, on each line, the command line to launch the needed daemons. And this tool should work on OSX, Linux, Solaris, HPUX and AIX ... writing the appropriate startup scripts for each platform.

PL2303 Serial Port an modprobe usbserial raises: FATAL: Could not load /lib/modules/3.3.3/modules.dep: No such file or directory in the /lib/modules/ Folder there is instead a 2.6.36-Folder uname -r gives 3.3.3 How can I overcome this mismatch? Can I create a symlink? I can't flash this embedded device since it is deployed somewhere, only ssh? Please advise!

  • Screen is black at login screen if display driver is enabled

    I have a Lenovo x200 and recently its screen didn't work, so I took it to a repair lab. The guy told me they replaced the screen inverter. I powered up the laptop and the ThinkPad logo was shown, so I was happy. When I got home the computer would boot up, then instead of the logon screen, I got a black screen. Went to safe mode, disabled the display adapters, reset the computer, and I got a clean boot. Then I tried to reinstall the drivers, and it just led to the same condition. My video card is (from device manager): Mobile Intel(R) 4 Series Express Chipset Family. Now my laptop works as I'm working with display drivers disabled, but without display drivers I can't watch movies, etc. Any solution to this problem? Edit: I plugged in an external monitor and it works on it with display drivers enabled. However, it does not find the laptop monitor.

  • Nvidia restricted driver = invisible menus when using VNC

    I'm installing 9.04 on an HTPC, so I will often VNC in to work on it from my laptop. After the initial install, I updated everything, and it all went fine. I was able to VNC using Ubuntu's built-in "Remote Desktop" with no problems. I then installed the 180.xx restricted nvidia drivers and rebooted. Everything worked fine on my TV, but when I VNC'd into it, all I could see was the background and title bar. When I'd pull down a menu, the menu was visible on the TV but not over the VNC link. I assume that means the GUI was now using some sort of overlay for the menus, which is fine, but what's the best way to make them visible over VNC? Clarification: I know I can turn off all visual effects and solve the problem, but I'm looking for a way to see the menus over VNC while keeping the GUI pretty...

    I have a Dell laptop issued by my employer, and I always find it a real pain to search for, download and maintain their drivers. It baffles me that there does not seem to be a nice way (product, website, ...) to just download the stuff you need, without hassle. The same goes for the other Windows based laptops in my direct environment. Are there any (preferably free) automated solutions available? Or do you have a nice workflow - other than searching the manufacturers website - to help smoothing this process?

  • Windows 8 install shows NTFS partition but asks for driver

    I have an Asus Eee PC 900HA, and I tried to install Windows 8 on it, so I created a 56GB NTFS partition and booted install from USB When I get to install it, says "some drivers are missing", but when I click Explore button, I can see the NTFS partition. I have updated the BIOS to its lastest version in Asus Support, loaded setup defaults, downloaded all the drivers I saw there and put them into the USB, but keeps asking for drivers. The BIOS has no option for the HDD to be IDE or AHCI, only Auto, ARMD and CDROM are available. Thank you very much.

    OK I am having this printer problem. I had a user delete her printer. Please don't ask, I don't know. She is using an HP deskjet 6940 printer, and for her desktop she has an HP dx2400, with Windows 7. When I plug in the USB cable it should install the new drivers, but it does not. I believe you guys don't need to know my network setup. I could be wrong. If you guys here at serverfault could help that will be great. :)

  • HP Pavilion dv3 volume control display driver on Windows 7

    I've recently bought an HP Pavilion dv3-2150ep and I'm having a hard time getting the volume control display to work as expected. The control is a back-lit touch-sensitive bar above the keyboard. Now the buttons to turn the volume up and down actually do it, but the lightning is not changing at all. The mute button does change color when toggled. I'm not sure if I'm missing any drivers here (I've installed all of those on the HP support page that seem to have something to do with sound and/or display) or if I have to activate this somewhere. Any ideas?

    I have vaio E-series laptop. Recently I installed ubuntu 11 on it. My touchpad seems to be working except the fact that in settings no touchpad is shown. As a result, I can't configure it for edge-scrolling or deactivating it while typing. I have already tried configuring grub (actually it was already configured). I have even installed softwares like 'psmouse-alps 0.11' but of no use. Technical staff of sony blatantly replied that they only provide support in windows..blah... Now, I am really worried if my touchpad will ever work properly or not ... Please help...

    I did install Windows 7 64 bit on my ex. Windows 8 pro Asus x551c "Ultrabook". The CD with the drivers isn't useable since its a windows 8 only DVD-Rom. I got the Wi-Fi and other stuff running and already tryed 3 of the Intel-HD Graphic drivers for win7 64Bit i found with google. No one was compatible with my pc. Any suggestions how to get this running? I hate windows 8 and dont want to get forced to use it.
