    Hello all, I'm using Windows Vista, and I was wondering if I can put shortcuts for applications.Like for example, if I press a certain combination of keys I get notepad, or something like that. If those shortcuts were already there, how can I know them? Another thing, if I have an application that runs on media files for example, can I add it on the " Right Click" menu when I right click on media files. I hope you got that :) Thanks alot :)

    On Windows 7, dir or tree can't show unicode characters, even starting cmd with cmd /U So I would press Window Key + R to run something, and type in cmd /U so that the content might handle Unicode. And then using dir or tree /F, the content in Unicode won't show as Unicode. (in Window Explorer (file manager), the Unicode will show) Is there a way to handle it? To get Unicode characters to test your filenames, you can go to http://news.google.com/news?edchanged=1&ned=tw and you will be able to get many Unicode characters there (UTF-8)

    I have to transcribe some audio (not enough to download dedicated software but enough to put my hacker hat on) and flipping back and forth between vlc and my text editor every time I want to pause is really annoying. Is there a way to always route a key-press (for example F10) to vlc regardless of what window has focus. Bonus - I have a Makey Makey so if I can get this working I can create a pedal and it will be my first real use of it!

To be precise: I have a mail from someone else open in mutt and I replied to that mail - a copy of that reply is in the sent folder.     How to make the autocompletion feature return the current suggestion (from "completion list") in full? That is, how not to jump only to the next CamelCase with TAB ... but instead have, say, CTRL + TAB choose the suggestion immediately/in full? Example Having CGPDFStringGetLength selected in the "completion list", one would have to press TAB four (4) times! first TAB get to CGPDF then to CGPDFString then to CGPDFStringGet then to CGPDFStringGetLength It would be nice to have CTRL + TAB (for example) make the above a one-step process.

  • Pasting to Excel from Word - stop a Word new line being converted into a new cell

    So I have a table in MS Word which has two columns. In the second column the text is spread on multiple lines, ie I have pressed 'Enter' to achieve this. When I paste into Excel, it converts these separate lines into separate cells. What I want it to do is to keep the lines in the same cell, just on different lines, ie what would happen if I were to press Alt+Enter in a cell in excel. How would I go about this?

  • Windows CHKDSK starts when 6 seconds have passed

    After reading this thread I might have sorted out why the CHKDSK-prompt starts. But the biggest problem is that when it prompts me with Press any key with in 10..0 seconds, nothing happens until the timer hits 6, then it starts the check even though I've pressed any button (and yet it's 4 seconds left). This question states the problem as it appears at me, though the answer is wrong. Why does the actual check start after 6 seconds, and is there any way to disable it from within Windows?

At least it should display on the same window each time open some file but it creates new windows for each file I open.     I didn't notice what and when happend but from some moment replacing stopped work in Word. Just imagine that I have a text block: Some text block And I select the word text: Some text block After that I press some key, for example, 'A'. And I expect to see Some A block because selected area should be replaced (as usual). But instead of that I see: Some Atext block Inserted text is just appended as prefix. Could anyone help me with this issue, please?
