    A customer is using the same address space as the company network. I need to connect with Cisco VPN Client to the network of the customer, without affecting local connectivity. To keep all working, I connect from a VM to avoid network addressing collisions. This works, but I'm looking for a way to get rid of the VM. Is it possible to connect with Cisco VPN Client 4.8 from Windows 7, without changing the 'normal' routing? How to tell specific applications (most importantly: Putty, VNC, mstsc, psql) to resolve their routes to the VPN instead of the default network interface? Have been hearing about SOCKS-proxies, is that something that could be made to work? I fear that this is a a bit of a crude question, but I'd be happy to specify more details/context.

  • installing php gd on ubuntu on a vps server

    I was working on localhost with resizing images and everything was great. Than I uploaded to my server and things got interesting. After searching around, looks like I have to enable php-gd on my server. I tried running the line sudo apt-get install php5-gd using putty, and it didn't work. Any ideas why? Also, after the install, I assume I will need to run the function sudo reboot right? clearly I'm not an expert in this area :p

So far I've turned to trust boost and found: This boost library But I'm wondering if it there are some alternatives. I use boost a lot and (while I like it) I find that it sometimes takes me longer to figure out how to use the generic code than to write my own...not-so-generic code. (Ya, ya...I know.   • My server hostname doesn't work? [on hold]

    I've got a raspberry pi running raspbian server edition. It's a modified debian that runs well on the rPi. My problem is that the only way I can ssh into it with putty is through the static ip. My router doesn't recognize the hostname; it shows the mac address as the name. This causes the pi not to show my website online (I think). The only way I've gotten it to work is using my other linux server to forward using virtual hosts, and that has to use the ip address, too. However, now that I have my other server off, the website doesn't work and I can't ssh (or find it anywhere on the network) using the hostname.

    Can it be done without using TypeMock Islolator? I've found a few suggestions online such as passing in a metadata only connection string, however nothing I've come across besides TypeMock seems to truly allow for a mock ObjectContext that can be injected into services for unit testing. Do I plunk down the $$ for TypeMock, or are there alternatives? Has nobody managed to create anything comparable to TypeMock that is open source?

I want to experiment with different pathfinding algorithms by sending virtual units (robots) around obstacles on a geometric plane. But I don't need a feature overkill like a game engine or Flash might have, just an animated report and native collision detector. I prefer it to be scripted in python, but if there are java or C++ alternatives I would appreciate them as well.

    Hey stackoverflow community, I am looking for a Document Viewer application that I can embed in a Flash/Flex application that supports Microsoft Office documents as well as PDF. I have looked into print2flash as a possibility, but their automated converter executable requires access to the files and directories. Does anyone know of other alternatives which would have .NET/Java/Other libraries to convert these files to a SWF that can do it based on the download stream, as opposed to the actual files? Thanks!

What are the alternatives for handling when a client closes their browser without disconnecting from the server first?     Here is what I want to do, very simply: I want to put a URL into a Mozilla Prism (or some alternative), then be provided with an icon on my desktop that when I click it a window opens and the page is displayed. The process for this instance of Prism should be completely independent of any other Prism "applications" that are running. Prism looks like it does this exactly, but I'm running Fedora 12 x86_64 and I can't get it to work, so I'm wondering if there are any alternatives to Prism.
