  • Database of common translated phrases for localization?

    - by richardtallent
    I'd like to localize my app into a few other languages, all of which I can barely order a drink in. Does anyone know of an online resource for translations of common software menu options, messages, etc. into other languages? Given the number of developers (both OSS and closed-source) that deal with localization, and the overlap of resource strings between, it seems like a pretty obvious fit for a wiki or open source package, but I can't seem to find anything like this. I could try to mine the Windows resource files or dig around in resource strings in robust OSS apps like Firefox, but I suspect I'm not the first person to think of this and surely there is a site that I'm just not finding yet. Update: since nothing exists like this that I could find, I started a feeble attempt at an open-source string library. It's just a boilerplate Google spreadsheet now, so if you want to contribute, please go here: http://www.xark.org/

  • MySQL-problem when baking with CakePHP.

    - by timkl
    I am currently reading "Beginning CakePHP:From Novice to Professional" by David Golding. At one point I have to use the CLI-command "cake bake", I get the welcome-screen but when I try to bake e.g. a Controller I get the following error messages: Warning: mysql_connect(): Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/mysql/mysql.sock' (2) in /Applications/MAMP/htdocs/blog/cake/libs/model/datasources/dbo/dbo_mysql.php on line 117 Warning: mysql_select_db(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL-Link resource in /Applications/MAMP/htdocs/blog/cake/libs/model/datasources/dbo/dbo_mysql.php on line 122 Warning: mysql_get_server_info(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL-Link resource in /Applications/MAMP/htdocs/blog/cake/libs/model/datasources/dbo/dbo_mysql.php on line 130 Warning: mysql_query(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL-Link resource in /Applications/MAMP/htdocs/blog/cake/libs/model/datasources/dbo/dbo_mysql.php on line 154 Error: Your database does not have any tables. I suspect that the error-messages has to do with php trying to access the wrong mysql-socket, namely the default osx mysql-socket - instead of the one that MAMP uses. Hence I change my database configurations to connect to the UNIX mysql-socket (:/Applications/MAMP/tmp/mysql/mysql.sock): class DATABASE_CONFIG { var $default = array( 'driver' => 'mysql', 'connect' => 'mysql_connect', 'persistent' => false, 'host' =>':/Applications/MAMP/tmp/mysql/mysql.sock', // UNIX MySQL-socket 'login' => 'my_user', 'password' => 'my_pass', 'database' => 'blog', 'prefix' => '', ); } But I get the same error-messages with the new socket: Warning: mysql_connect(): Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/Applications/MAMP/tmp/mysql/mysql.sock:3306' (2) in /Applications/MAMP/htdocs/blog/cake/libs/model/datasources/dbo/dbo_mysql.php on line 117 Warning: mysql_select_db(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL-Link resource in /Applications/MAMP/htdocs/blog/cake/libs/model/datasources/dbo/dbo_mysql.php on line 122 Warning: mysql_get_server_info(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL-Link resource in /Applications/MAMP/htdocs/blog/cake/libs/model/datasources/dbo/dbo_mysql.php on line 130 Warning: mysql_query(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL-Link resource in /Applications/MAMP/htdocs/blog/cake/libs/model/datasources/dbo/dbo_mysql.php on line 154 Error: Your database does not have any tables. Also, even though I use the UNIX-socket that MAMP show on it's welcome-screen, CakePHP loses the database-connection, when using this socket instead of localhost. Any ideas on how I can get bake to work?

  • import problem with twisted.web server

    - by Carson Myers
    I'm just getting started with twisted.web, and I'm having trouble importing a Python module into a .rpy script. in C:\py\twisted\mysite.py, I have this: from twisted.web.resource import Resource from twisted.web import server class MySite(Resource): def render_GET(self, request): request.write("<!DOCTYPE html>") request.write("<html><head>") request.write("<title>Twisted Driven Site</title>") request.write("</head><body>") request.write("<h1>Twisted Driven Website</h1>") request.write("<p>Prepath: <pre>{0}</pre></p>".format(request.prepath)) request.write("</body></html>") request.finish() return server.NOT_DONE_YET and in C:\py\twisted\index.rpy, I have this: import mysite reload(mysite) resource = mysite.MySite() I ran twistd -n web --port 8888 --path C:\py\twisted in command prompt and the server started successfully. But when I requested localhost:8888 I got a (huge) stack trace originating from an ImportError: <type 'exceptions.ImportError'>: No module named mysite I can import the module from the interpreter, and if i just execute index.rpy as a python script, I don't get the import error. The documentation on this subject is a bit vague, it just says "However, it is often a better idea to define Resource subclasses in Python modules. In order for changes in modules to be visible, you must either restart the Python process, or reload the module:" (from here). Does anyone know the proper way to do this?

  • JSF 2.0 Problem

    - by Sarang
    I am doing a project where I am using JSF 2.0 & Primefaces UI Components. There is a tab view component with tabs, "Day","Week" & "Month". In all tab, I have to display Bar Charts in each. For the same, I am fetching three list using the following three method. In the following code, UpdateCountHelper is fetching the data from database. So, UpdateCountHelper is taking some time for fetching data. This is code for fetching lists : public List<UpdateCount> getDayUpdateCounts() { if (projectFlag == true) { if (displayFlag == 1) { dayUpdateCounts = UpdateCountHelper.getProjectUpdates(1); } else { dayUpdateCounts = UpdateCountHelper.getProjectUpdates(name, 1); } } else { dayUpdateCounts = UpdateCountHelper.getResourceUpdates(userName, 1); } return dayUpdateCounts; } public List<UpdateCount> getMonthUpdateCounts() { if (projectFlag == true) { if (displayFlag == 1) { monthUpdateCounts = UpdateCountHelper.getProjectUpdates(30); } else { monthUpdateCounts = UpdateCountHelper.getProjectUpdates(name, 30); } } else { monthUpdateCounts = UpdateCountHelper.getResourceUpdates(userName, 30); } return monthUpdateCounts; } public List<UpdateCount> getWeekUpdateCounts() { if (projectFlag == true) { if (displayFlag == 1) { weekUpdateCounts = UpdateCountHelper.getProjectUpdates(7); } else { weekUpdateCounts = UpdateCountHelper.getProjectUpdates(name, 7); } } else { weekUpdateCounts = UpdateCountHelper.getResourceUpdates(userName, 7); } return weekUpdateCounts; } This is code for UI of Bar Chart : <p:panel id="Chart"> <p:tabView dynamic="false" cache="false"> <p:tab title="Day"> <p:panel id="chartDayPanel"> <center> <h:outputText id="projectWiseDayText" rendered="#{systemUtilizationServiceBean.projectFlag}" value="Project Wise Day Update"/> <p:columnChart id="projectWiseDayUpdateChart" rendered="#{systemUtilizationServiceBean.projectFlag}" value="#{systemUtilizationServiceBean.dayUpdateCounts}" var="dayWiseUpdate" xfield="#{dayWiseUpdate.name}" height="200px" width="640px"> <p:chartSeries label="Project Wise Current Day Update" value="#{dayWiseUpdate.noUpdates}"/> </p:columnChart> <h:outputText id="resourceWiseDayText" rendered="#{systemUtilizationServiceBean.resourceFlag}" value="Resource Wise Day Update"/> <p:columnChart id="resourceWiseDayUpdateChart" rendered="#{systemUtilizationServiceBean.resourceFlag}" value="#{systemUtilizationServiceBean.dayUpdateCounts}" var="dayWiseResourceUpdate" xfield="#{dayWiseResourceUpdate.name}" height="200px" width="640px"> <p:chartSeries label="Resource Wise Current Day Update" value="#{dayWiseResourceUpdate.noUpdates}"/> </p:columnChart> </center> </p:panel> </p:tab> <p:tab title="Week"> <p:panel id="chartWeekPanel"> <center> <h:outputText id="projectWiseWeekText" rendered="#{systemUtilizationServiceBean.projectFlag}" value="Project Wise Week Update"/> <p:columnChart id="projectWiseWeekUpdateChart" rendered="#{systemUtilizationServiceBean.projectFlag}" value="#{systemUtilizationServiceBean.weekUpdateCounts}" var="weekWiseUpdate" xfield="#{weekWiseUpdate.name}" height="200px" width="640px"> <p:chartSeries label="Project Wise Current Week Update" value="#{weekWiseUpdate.noUpdates}"/> </p:columnChart> <h:outputText id="resourceWiseWeekText" rendered="#{systemUtilizationServiceBean.resourceFlag}" value="Resource Wise Week Update"/> <p:columnChart id="resourceWiseWeekUpdateChart" rendered="#{systemUtilizationServiceBean.resourceFlag}" value="#{systemUtilizationServiceBean.weekUpdateCounts}" var="weekWiseResourceUpdate" xfield="#{weekWiseResourceUpdate.name}" height="200px" width="640px"> <p:chartSeries label="Resource Wise Current Week Update" value="#{weekWiseResourceUpdate.noUpdates}"/> </p:columnChart> </center> </p:panel> </p:tab> <p:tab title="Month"> <p:panel id="chartMonthPanel"> <center> <h:outputText id="projectWiseMonthText" rendered="#{systemUtilizationServiceBean.projectFlag}" value="Project Wise Month Update"/> <p:columnChart id="projectWiseMonthUpdateChart" rendered="#{systemUtilizationServiceBean.projectFlag}" value="#{systemUtilizationServiceBean.monthUpdateCounts}" var="monthWiseUpdate" xfield="#{monthWiseUpdate.name}" height="200px" width="640px"> <p:chartSeries label="Project Wise Current Month Update" value="#{monthWiseUpdate.noUpdates}"/> </p:columnChart> <h:outputText id="resourceWiseMonthText" rendered="#{systemUtilizationServiceBean.resourceFlag}" value="Resource Wise Month Update"/> <p:columnChart id="resourceWiseMonthUpdateChart" rendered="#{systemUtilizationServiceBean.resourceFlag}" value="#{systemUtilizationServiceBean.monthUpdateCounts}" var="monthWiseResourceUpdate" xfield="#{monthWiseResourceUpdate.name}" height="200px" width="640px"> <p:chartSeries label="Resource Wise Current Month Update" value="#{monthWiseResourceUpdate.noUpdates}"/> </p:columnChart> </center> </p:panel> </p:tab> </p:tabView> </p:panel> Now, I have to display same data in other tabview with same tabs as mentioned above & only thing is now I have to display in Pie Chart. Now in pie chart, I am using the same lists. So, it will again fetch the data from database & waste time. To solve that problem I have created other three lists & have given only reference of those previous lists. So, now no database fetching occur. The Code for applying the reference is : public List<UpdateCount> getPieDayUpdateCounts() { pieDayUpdateCounts = dayUpdateCounts; return pieDayUpdateCounts; } public List<UpdateCount> getPieMonthUpdateCounts() { pieMonthUpdateCounts = monthUpdateCounts; return pieMonthUpdateCounts; } public List<UpdateCount> getPieWeekUpdateCounts() { pieWeekUpdateCounts = weekUpdateCounts; return pieWeekUpdateCounts; } But, over here the problem occurring is that only chart of which the tab is enable is displayed but the other remaining 2 tabs are not showing any chart. The code for UI is : <p:tabView dynamic="false" cache="false"> <p:tab title="Day"> <center> <p:panel id="pieChartDayPanel"> <h:outputText id="projectWiseDayPieChartText" rendered="#{systemUtilizationServiceBean.projectFlag}" value="Project Wise Day Update"/> <p:pieChart id="projectWiseDayUpdatePieChart" rendered="#{systemUtilizationServiceBean.projectFlag}" value="#{systemUtilizationServiceBean.dayUpdateCounts}" var="dayWisePieUpdate" categoryField="#{dayWisePieUpdate.name}" dataField="#{dayWisePieUpdate.noUpdates}" height="200" width="200"/> <h:outputText id="resourceWiseDayPieChartText" rendered="#{systemUtilizationServiceBean.resourceFlag}" value="Resource Wise Day Update"/> <p:pieChart id="resourceWiseDayUpdatePieChart" rendered="#{systemUtilizationServiceBean.resourceFlag}" value="#{systemUtilizationServiceBean.dayUpdateCounts}" var="dayWiseResourcePieUpdate" categoryField="#{dayWiseResourcePieUpdate.name}" dataField="#{dayWiseResourcePieUpdate.noUpdates}" height="200" width="200"/> </p:panel> </center> </p:tab> <p:tab title="Week"> <center> <p:panel id="pieChartWeekPanel"> <h:outputText id="projectWiseWeekPieChartText" rendered="#{systemUtilizationServiceBean.projectFlag}" value="Project Wise Week Update"/> <p:pieChart id="projectWiseWeekUpdatePieChart" rendered="#{systemUtilizationServiceBean.projectFlag}" value="#{systemUtilizationServiceBean.weekUpdateCounts}" var="weekWisePieUpdate" categoryField="#{weekWisePieUpdate.name}" dataField="#{weekWisePieUpdate.noUpdates}" height="200" width="200"/> <h:outputText id="resourceWiseWeekPieChartText" rendered="#{systemUtilizationServiceBean.resourceFlag}" value="Resource Wise Week Update"/> <p:pieChart id="resourceWiseWeekUpdatePieChart" rendered="#{systemUtilizationServiceBean.resourceFlag}" value="#{systemUtilizationServiceBean.weekUpdateCounts}" var="weekWiseResourcePieUpdate" categoryField="#{weekWiseResourcePieUpdate.name}" dataField="#{weekWiseResourcePieUpdate.noUpdates}" height="200" width="200"/> </p:panel> </center> </p:tab> <p:tab title="Month"> <center> <p:panel id="pieChartMonthPanel"> <h:outputText id="projectWiseMonthPieChartText" rendered="#{systemUtilizationServiceBean.projectFlag}" value="Project Wise Month Update"/> <p:pieChart id="projectWiseMonthUpdatePieChart" rendered="#{systemUtilizationServiceBean.projectFlag}" value="#{systemUtilizationServiceBean.monthUpdateCounts}" var="monthWisePieUpdate" categoryField="#{monthWisePieUpdate.name}" dataField="#{monthWisePieUpdate.noUpdates}" height="200" width="200"/> <h:outputText id="resourceWiseMonthPieChartText" rendered="#{systemUtilizationServiceBean.resourceFlag}" value="Resource Wise Month Update"/> <p:pieChart id="resourceWiseMonthUpdatePieChart" rendered="#{systemUtilizationServiceBean.resourceFlag}" value="#{systemUtilizationServiceBean.monthUpdateCounts}" var="monthWiseResourcePieUpdate" categoryField="#{monthWiseResourcePieUpdate.name}" dataField="#{monthWiseResourcePieUpdate.noUpdates}" height="200" width="200"/> </p:panel> </center> </p:tab> </p:tabView> What should be the reason behind this ?

  • HTTP POST prarameters order / REST urls

    - by pq
    Let's say that I'm uploading a large file via a POST HTTP request. Let's also say that I have another parameter (other than the file) that names the resource which the file is updating. The resource cannot be not part of the URL the way you can do it with REST (e.g. foo.com/bar/123). Let's say this is due to a combination of technical and political reasons. The server needs to ignore the file if the resource name is invalid or, say, the IP address and/or the logged in user are not authorized to update the resource. Looks like, if this POST came from an HTML form that contains the resource name first and file field second, for most (all?) browsers, this order is preserved in the POST request. But it would be naive to fully rely on that, no? In other words the order of HTTP parameters is insignificant and a client is free to construct the POST in any order. Isn't that true? Which means that, at least in theory, the server may end up storing the whole large file before it can deny the request. It seems to me that this is a clear case where RESTful urls have an advantage, since you don't have to look at the POST content to perform certain authorization/error checking on the request. Do you agree? What are your thoughts, experiences?

  • How to work with file and streams in php,case: if we open file in Class A and pass open stream to Cl

    - by Rachel
    I have two class, one is Business Logic Class{BLO} and the other one is Data Access Class{DAO} and I have dependency in my BLO class to my Dao class. Basically am opening a csv file to write into it in my BLO class using inside its constructor as I am creating an object of BLO and passing in file from command prompt: Code: $this->fin = fopen($file,'w+') or die('Cannot open file'); Now inside BLO I have one function notifiy, which call has dependency to DAO class and call getCurrentDBSnapshot function from the Dao and passes the open stream so that data gets populated into the stream. Code: Blo Class Constructor: public function __construct($file) { //Open Unica File for parsing. $this->fin = fopen($file,'w+') or die('Cannot open file'); // Initialize the Repository DAO. $this->dao = new Dao('REPO'); } Blo Class method that interacts with Dao Method and call getCurrentDBSnapshot. public function notifiy() { $data = $this->fin; var_dump($data); //resource(9) of type (stream) $outputFile=$this->dao->getCurrentDBSnapshot($data); // So basically am passing in $data which is resource((9) of type (stream) } Dao function: getCurrentDBSnapshot which get current state of Database table. public function getCurrentDBSnapshot($data) { $query = "SELECT * FROM myTable"; //Basically just preparing the query. $stmt = $this->connection->prepare($query); // Execute the statement $stmt->execute(); $header = array(); while ($row=$stmt->fetch(PDO::FETCH_ASSOC)) { if(empty($header)) { // Get the header values from table(columnnames) $header = array_keys($row); // Populate csv file with header information from the mytable fputcsv($data, $header); } // Export every row to a file fputcsv($data, $row); } var_dump($data);//resource(9) of type (stream) return $data; } So basically in am getting back resource(9) of type (stream) from getCurrentDBSnapshot and am storing that stream into $outputFile in Blo class method notify. Now I want to close the file which I opened for writing and so it should be fclose of $outputFile or $data, because in both the cases it gives me: var_dump(fclose($outputFile)) as bool(false) var_dump(fclose($data)) as bool(false) and var_dump($outputFile) as resource(9) of type (Unknown) var_dump($data) as resource(9) of type (Unknown) My question is that if I open file using fopen in class A and if I call class B method from Class A method and pass an open stream, in our case $data, than Class B would perform some work and return back and open stream and so How can I close that open stream in Class A's method or it is ok to keep that stream open and not use fclose ? Would appreciate inputs as am not very sure as how this can be implemented.

  • git doesn't show where code was removed.

    - by Andrew Myers
    So I was tasked at replacing some dummy code that our project requires for historical compatibility reasons but has mysteriously dropped out sometime since the last release. Since disappearing code makes me nervous about what else might have gone missing but un-noticed I've been digging through the logs trying to find in what commit this handful of lines was removed. I've tried a number of things including "git log -S'add-visit-resource-pcf'", git blame, and even git bisect with a script that simply checks for the existence of the line but have been unable to pinpoint exactly where these lines were removed. I find this very perplexing, particularly since the last log entry (obtained by the above command) before my re-introduction of this code was someone else adding the code as well. commit 0b0556fa87ff80d0ffcc2b451cca1581289bbc3c Author: Andrew Date: Thu May 13 10:55:32 2010 -0400 Re-introduced add-visit-resource-pcf, see PR-65034. diff --git a/spike/hst/scheduler/defpackage.lisp b/spike/hst/scheduler/defpackage.lisp index f8e692d..a6f8d38 100644 --- a/spike/hst/scheduler/defpackage.lisp +++ b/spike/hst/scheduler/defpackage.lisp @@ -115,6 +115,7 @@ #:add-to-current-resource-pcf #:add-user-package-nickname #:add-value-criteria + #:add-visit-resource-pcf #:add-window-to-gs-params #:adjust-derived-resources #:adjust-links-candidate-criteria-types commit 9fb10e25572c537076284a248be1fbf757c1a6e1 Author: Bob Date: Sun Jan 17 18:35:16 2010 -0500 update-defpackage for Spike 33.1 Delivery diff --git a/spike/hst/scheduler/defpackage.lisp b/spike/hst/scheduler/defpackage.lisp index 983666d..47f1a9a 100644 --- a/spike/hst/scheduler/defpackage.lisp +++ b/spike/hst/scheduler/defpackage.lisp @@ -118,6 +118,7 @@ #:add-user-package-nickname #:add-value-criteria #:add-vars-from-proposal + #:add-visit-resource-pcf #:add-window-to-gs-params #:adjust-derived-resources #:adjust-links-candidate-criteria-types This is for one of our package definition files, but the relevant source file reflects something similar. • How can one extract rdf:about or rdf:ID properties from triples using SPARQL?

    - by lennyks
    It seemed a trivial matter at the beginning but so far I have not managed to get the unique identifier for a given resource using SPARQL. What I mean is given, e.g., rdf:Description rdf:about="http://..." and then some properties identifying this resource, what I want to do is to first find this very resource and then retrieve all the triples given some URI. I have tried naïve approaches by writing statements in a WHERE clause such as: ?x rdf:about ?y and ?x rdfs:about ?y I hope I am being precise.

  • How to split xml to header and items using smooks?

    - by palto
    I have a xml file roughly like this: <batch> <header> <headerStuff /> </header> <contents> <timestamp /> <invoices> <invoice> <invoiceStuff /> </invoice> <!-- Insert 1000 invoice elements here --> </invoices> </contents> </batch> I would like to split that file to 1000 files with the same headerStuff and only one invoice. Smooks documentation is very proud of the possibilities of transformations, but unfortunately I don't want to do those. The only way I've figured how to do this is to repeat the whole structure in freemarker. But that feels like repeating the structure unnecessarily. The header has like 30 different tags so there would be lots of work involved also. What I currently have is this: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <smooks-resource-list xmlns="http://www.milyn.org/xsd/smooks-1.1.xsd" xmlns:calc="http://www.milyn.org/xsd/smooks/calc-1.1.xsd" xmlns:frag="http://www.milyn.org/xsd/smooks/fragment-routing-1.2.xsd" xmlns:file="http://www.milyn.org/xsd/smooks/file-routing-1.1.xsd"> <params> <param name="stream.filter.type">SAX</param> </params> <frag:serialize fragment="INVOICE" bindTo="invoiceBean" /> <calc:counter countOnElement="INVOICE" beanId="split_calc" start="1" /> <file:outputStream openOnElement="INVOICE" resourceName="invoiceSplitStream"> <file:fileNamePattern>invoice-${split_calc}.xml</file:fileNamePattern> <file:destinationDirectoryPattern>target/invoices</file:destinationDirectoryPattern> <file:highWaterMark mark="10"/> </file:outputStream> <resource-config selector="INVOICE"> <resource>org.milyn.routing.io.OutputStreamRouter</resource> <param name="beanId">invoiceBean</param> <param name="resourceName">invoiceSplitStream</param> <param name="visitAfter">true</param> </resource-config> </smooks-resource-list> That creates files for each invoice tag, but I don't know how to continue from there to get the header also in the file. EDIT: The solution has to use Smooks. We use it in an application as a generic splitter and just create different smooks configuration files for different types of input files.

  • Help understanding .NET delegates, events, and eventhandlers

    - by Seth Spearman
    Hello, In the last couple of days I asked a couple of questions about delegates HERE and HERE. I confess...I don't really understand delegates. And I REALLY REALLY REALLY want to understand and master them. (I can define them--type safe function pointers--but since I have little experience with C type languages it is not really helpful.) Can anyone recommend some online resource(s) that will explain delegates in a way that presumes nothing? This is one of those moments where I suspect that VB actually handicaps me because it does some wiring for me behind the scenes. The ideal resource would just explain what delegates are, without reference to anything else like (events and eventhandlers), would show me how all everything is wired up, explain (as I just learned) that delegates are types and what makes them unique as a type (perhaps using a little ildasm magic)). That foundation would then expand to explain how delegates are related to events and eventhandlers which would need a pretty good explanation in there own right. Finally this resource could tie it all together using real examples and explain what wiring DOES happen automatically by the compiler, how to use them, etc. And, oh yeah, when you should and should not use delegates, in other words, downsides and alternatives to using delegates. What say ye? Can any of you point me to resource(s) that can help me begin my journey to mastery? EDIT One last thing. The ideal resource will explain how you can and cannot use delegates in an interface declaration. That is something that really tripped me up. Thanks for your help. Seth

  • Correct way to make datasources/resources a deploy-time setting

    - by Draemon
    I have a web-app that requires two settings: A JDBC datasource A string token I desperately want to be able to deploy one .war to various different containers (jetty,tomcat,gf3 minimum) and configure these settings at application level within the container. My code does this: InitialContext ctx = new InitialContext(); Context envCtx = (javax.naming.Context) ctx.lookup("java:comp/env"); token = (String)envCtx.lookup("token"); ds = (DataSource)envCtx.lookup("jdbc/datasource") Let's assume I've used the glassfish management interface to create two jdbc resources: jdbc/test-datasource and jdbc/live-datasource which connect to different copies of the same schema, on different servers, different credentials etc. Say I want to deploy this to glassfish with and point it at the test datasource, I might have this in my sun-web.xml: ... <resource-ref> <res-ref-name>jdbc/datasource</res-ref-name> <jndi-name>jdbc/test-datasource</jndi-name> </resource-ref> ... but sun-web.xml goes inside my war, right? surely there must be a way to do this through the management interface Am I even trying to do the right thing? Do other containers make this any easier? I'd be particularly interested in how jetty 7 handles this since I use it for development. EDIT Tomcat has a reasonable way to do this: Create $TOMCAT_HOME/conf/Catalina/localhost/webapp.xml with: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <Context antiResourceLocking="false" privileged="true"> <!-- String resource --> <Environment name="token" value="value of token" type="java.lang.String" override="false" /> <!-- Linking to a global resource --> <ResourceLink name="jdbc/datasource1" global="jdbc/test" type="javax.sql.DataSource" /> <!-- Derby --> <Resource name="jdbc/datasource2" type="javax.sql.DataSource" auth="Container" driverClassName="org.apache.derby.jdbc.EmbeddedDataSource" url="jdbc:derby:test;create=true" /> <!-- H2 --> <Resource name="jdbc/datasource3" type="javax.sql.DataSource" auth="Container" driverClassName="org.h2.jdbcx.JdbcDataSource" url="jdbc:h2:~/test" username="sa" password="" /> </Context> Note that override="false" means the opposite. It means that this setting can't be overriden by web.xml. I like this approach because the file is part of the container configuration not the war, but it's not part of the global configuration; it's webapp specific. I guess I expect a bit more from glassfish since it is supposed to have a full web admin interface, but I would be happy enough with something equivalent to the above.

    Hi, I've a recurrent problem, I don't find an elegant solution to avoid the resource cleaning code duplication: resource allocation: try { f() } catch (...) { resource cleaning code; throw; } resource cleaning code; return rc; So, I know I can do a temporary class with cleaning up destructor, but I don't really like it because it breaks the code flow and I need to give the class the reference to the all stack vars to cleanup, the same problem with a function, and I don't figure out how does not exists an elegant solution to this recurring problem.

  • I get a 400 Bad Request error while using django-piston

    - by Cheezo
    Hello, I am trying to use Piston to provide REST support to Django. I have implemented my handlers as per the documentation provided . The problem is that i can "read" and "delete" my resource but i cannot "create" or "update". Each time i hit the relevant api i get a 400 Bad request Error. I have extended the Resource class for csrf by using this commonly available code snippet: class CsrfExemptResource(Resource): """A Custom Resource that is csrf exempt""" def init(self, handler, authentication=None): super(CsrfExemptResource, self).init(handler, authentication) self.csrf_exempt = getattr(self.handler, 'csrf_exempt', True) My class (code snippet) looks like this: user_resource = CsrfExemptResource(User) class User(BaseHandler): allowed_methods = ('GET', 'POST', 'PUT', 'DELETE') @require_extended def create(self, request): email = request.GET['email'] password = request.GET['password'] phoneNumber = request.GET['phoneNumber'] firstName = request.GET['firstName'] lastName = request.GET['lastName'] self.createNewUser(self, email,password,phoneNumber,firstName,lastName) return rc.CREATED Please let me know how can i get the create method to work using the POST operation?

  • Simaltaneous connections with PHP and SOAP?

    - by Dov
    I'm new to using SOAP and understanding the utmost basics of it. I create a client resource/connection, I then run some queries in a loop and I'm done. The issue I am having is when I increase the iterations of the loop, ie: from 100 to 1000, it seems to run out of memory and drops an internal server error. How could I possibly run either a) multiple simaltaneous connections or b) create a connection, 100 iterations, close connection, create connection.. etc. "a)" looks to be the better option but I have no clue as to how to get it up and running whilst keeping memory (I assume opening and closing connections) at a minimum. Thanks in advance! index.php <?php // set loops to 0 $loops = 0; // connection credentials and settings $location = 'https://theconsole.com/'; $wsdl = $location.'?wsdl'; $username = 'user'; $password = 'pass'; // include the console and client classes include "class_console.php"; include "class_client.php"; // create a client resource / connection $client = new Client($location, $wsdl, $username, $password); while ($loops <= 100) { $dostuff; } ?> class_console.php <?php class Console { // the connection resource private $connection = NULL; /** * When this object is instantiated a connection will be made to the console */ public function __construct($location, $wsdl, $username, $password, $proxyHost = NULL, $proxyPort = NULL) { if(is_null($proxyHost) || is_null($proxyPort)) $connection = new SoapClient($wsdl, array('login' => $username, 'password' => $password)); else $connection = new SoapClient($wsdl, array('login' => $username, 'password' => $password, 'proxy_host' => $proxyHost, 'proxy_port' => $proxyPort)); $connection->__setLocation($location); $this->connection = $connection; return $this->connection; } /** * Will print any type of data to screen, where supported by print_r * * @param $var - The data to print to screen * @return $this->connection - The connection resource **/ public function screen($var) { print '<pre>'; print_r($var); print '</pre>'; return $this->connection; } /** * Returns a server / connection resource * * @return $this->connection - The connection resource */ public function srv() { return $this->connection; } } ?>

  • Converting LDAP from Tomcat to GlassFish

    - by Jon
    Hi, I have a simple web-app that is developed in Netbeans(6.8) and works fine in Tomcat(6) using LDAP(Active Directory). I need to convert this to an EE (JSF2), so I am moving from Tomcat to GlassFish(v3). I have changed the web files to xhtml and configured the xml files. However, I cannot get the GlassFish LDAP configuration to authenticate. I am attaching my old web.xml and server.xml (from Tomcat) snippets and the portions of the new web.xml, sun-web.xml, and the GlassFish configuration. If anyone can help me figure out where I am missing the piece that will allow a user to be authenticated, I would appreciate it. (btw, I am not using roles, just authenticating against the LDAP db is good enought.) As it is right now, my app will prompt me to enter a user when I try to access a file in the 'protected' area and the GlassFish server throws an exception when it fails to authenticate. Because it works under Tomcat, I know I have the right information, I just don't know how to format it to get GlassFish to pass it along. Thanks. • Can't seem to sign AWS Cloud Front URL properly

    - by Joe Corkery
    Hi everybody, I found a lot of detailed examples online on how to sign an Amazon CloudFront URL for private content. Unfortunately, whenever I implement these examples my URL doesn't seem to work. The resource path is correct because I can download the file when it is set for world read, but the URL doesn't work when set just for authorized users. The PHP code I am using is below. If anybody has any insights as to what I might be doing wrong (I'm guessing it is something obvious that I am just not seeing right now), it would be greatly appreciated. function urlCloudFront($resource) { $AWS_CF_KEY = 'APKA...'; $priv_key = file_get_contents(path_to_pem_file); $pkeyid = openssl_get_privatekey($priv_key); $expires = strtotime("+ 3 hours"); $policy_str = '{"Statement":[{"Resource":"'.$resource.'","Condition":{"DateLessThan":{"AWS:EpochTime":'.$expires.'}}}]}'; $policy_str = trim( preg_replace( '/\s+/', '', $policy_str ) ); $res = openssl_sign($policy_str, $signature, $pkeyid, OPENSSL_ALGO_SHA1); $signature_base64 = (base64_encode($signature)); $repl = array('+' => '-','=' => '_','/' => '~'); $signature_base64 = strtr($signature_base64,$repl); $url = $resource . '?Expires=' .$expires. '&Signature=' . $signature_base64 . '&Key-Pair-Id='. $AWS_CF_KEY; print '<p><A href="' .$url. '">Download VIDA (CloudFrount)</A>'; } urlCloudFront("http://mydistcloud.cloudfront.net/mydir/myfile.tar.gz"); Thanks.

  • Passing URIs as URL arguments in Drupal

    - by wynz
    I'm running into problems trying to pass absolute URIs as parameters with clean URLs enabled. I've got hook_menu() set up like this: function mymodule_menu() { return array( 'page/%' = array( 'title' = 'DBpedia Display Test', 'page callback' = 'mymodule_dbpedia_display', 'page arguments' = array(1), ), ); } and in the page callback: function mymodule_dbpedia_display($uri) { // Make an HTTP request for this URI // and then render some things return $output; } What I'm hoping to do is somehow pass full URIs (e.g. "http://dbpedia.org/resource/Coffee") to my page callback. I've tried a few things and nothing's worked so far... http://mysite.com/page/http%3A%2F%2Fdbpedia.org%2Fresource%2FCoffee Completely breaks Drupal's rewriting http://mysite.com/page/?uri=http%3A%2F%2Fdbpedia.org%2Fresource%2FCoffee Gives a 404 http://mysite.com/page/http://dbpedia.org/resource/Coffee Returns just "http:", which makes sense I could probably use $_GET to pull out the whole query string, but I guess I'm hoping for a more 'Drupal' solution. Any suggestions?
