• How to provide Input to Dialogs designed by Qt Designer

  Hello, I am a Qt beginner and working with Qt Designer to develop some small UI elements. I read http://doc.trolltech.com/4.5/designer-using-a-ui-file.html to use these GUI elements in my code and using multiple inheritance approach. I am introducing bookmark feature which somewhat look like http://img293.imageshack.us/img293/3041/screenshotyb.png. Now the problem I am facing is How can I show all existing bookmark folders in the drop down(say folders are in a QVector). So my main problem is how can I pass some inputs to the UI element.   Possible Duplicate: Best unix/linux C++ debuger/IDE ? Hey, I've been searcing and reading about a good Linux C++ IDE, and couldn't set my mind on the right one. I've been using Eclipse with the C++ pluging , for C development, for the last couple months, but I found it not very useful, especially the debugging process that was quite annoying. I love Vistal Studio, so I'm looking for something really close to it. I need an IDE that will provide me, among other things: - rich debugging options - easy to use graphical designer - underscores error/warning (before I compile - like eclipse has) - Intellisense and more... Any suggestion? Maybe NetBeans?

• Spotlight search with PHP

  Hi. I want to add a spotlight search functionality - search results being displayed with rich contents like thumbnail etc in a drop down menu changing on each keyup event - just like the apple.com search - to a site, having data in MySQL InnoDB tables. The data is spread into separate tables for categories, help pages, blog pages and so on. The search script must take into account just a subset of columns. Since it seems to be a popular demand, I guess there are some PHP search engine projects (preferably open-source and with memcached support), which could be integrated into the existing system on the basis of regular exports of relevant data from the working db/tables. Are there any solutions out there? Which one would you recommend? Or maybe it would be better to implement it the other way around? Thanks

• Synchronising scripts / db / files from dev system to web server

  I work as a freelance web dev, and up until now have been ftping my scripts / databases / static files to my web server manually, but I'm finding that is too error prone. So I'm looking for an app to automate uploading new and updated scripts / files / databases / etc. I know a lot of independent devs use WinSCP or Unison, but I don't think those apps can synch databases. Does anyone have any other suggestions? It doesn't need to be anything overly feature rich as I'm not working within a team or across multiple operating systems or anything like that. I can purchase any reasonably priced license if necesary. My work is primarily for PHP / MySQL / Apache on a Windows system, and then uploaded to a Linux / Apache server. thanks for your time!

I have no experience with version control systems except of using Visual Source Safe in a project done by 2 people sitting in front of each other (which has shown VSS quite sack of boulders, not anything useful). Right now I am looking to grok-in using some modern VCS. Here are the preferences in descending priority order: Platform-agnostic. Pretty pleasant to use With Visual Studio 2010 on Windows as well as With NetBeans 6.9 and Eclipse 3.6 on Linux and Mac. Convenient and efficient for mutually-dependent projects done by teams of 1-10 and consisting of files of quite a diverse selection of types. Including early-stage projects with unstable design and experimenting. Modern. As fresh and future-technology-feature-rich as possible. Free & open-source. Should I take a closer look at SVN, Mercurial, GIT, Bazaar, or something else?

  hi all, Ok so it's not exactly a programing question but does anyone know or have experience with looking for a system for managing users on a website we are building? what is the shortlist of good feature rich secure solutions. we need Php and mysql integration and payment support for main credit cards. • Workaround for richfaces combobox hotkey bug

  Hi, Does anyone know a workaround for the bug https://jira.jboss.org/jira/browse/RF-8076 ? Just to clarify things, we have a form with multiple inputs, one of them being a combobox with auto complete features. We've setup a hotkey via <rich:hotKey key="return" ... /> It works great everywhere except in the combobox, and I would really like to get it working on the combobox as well. The behaviour I want when the ENTER key is pressed inside the combobox is: If the combobox context was modified by auto complete then do nothing Else action the event on ENTER key pressed We're running on seam/richfaces. I'm open to any workaround, but simplicity is much sought for. Thanks!

  Is it, in any way, possible to disable the browsers execution of script inside a block/section/element ? My scenario is, that I'm letting my (future) users create "rich content" (using CK-editor).   Is there a way to have some sort of rich text in a file, and load the file into an NSAttributedString? • Is it any desktop wysiwyg editors for mediawiki / wiki available?

  Hello. Mediawiki is very good, but for programming tasks editing it via web is not very handy since wysiwyg is very limited, pressing 'edit' + 'publish' on any small change and waiting for page loading kins of annoying. I have seen alot of desktop wikis (personal wikis) that are free from such problems. The best example is a 'wikidpad' that has a usage patter of 'focus, edit wiki in-place, minimize'. This is very handy for programming work where you need to make small changes to wiki and documentation during development, and documentation is written much more often than readed :). But all such desktops wikies are personal - they don't have any wiki sharing (or marginally limited support for it). So, maybe it's a desktop application exists that can connect to mediawiki and allows to view and edit it via a rich wysiwyg editor? Any hints are welcomed.

• How to do custom jquery lives in 1.4.1?

  Hi I been sort of using jquery livequery plugin and jquery live together. However now that I am using 1.4 it seems jquery livequery is not working 100%. It would actually run that code in the livequery and display and if I went to another ajax tab and come back it would go into this again. • An image from byte to optimized web page presentation

The more user gets down and down on the page he/she does see the more photos. So it means fast page loads and rich user experience. (you may see what I mean on www.mashable.com, just take care the new loads of the photos as you scroll down.) • SSRS default renderer strips html tags

  For TFS task work item, I copy a table from ms word 2003/2007 document and paste it into the description field (supports rich text). When the task item is saved, correct formatting is saved in TFS database table. But when the same data is displayed in a SSRs report (through report manager) the formatting is lost. Probably the ssrs rendering engine is stripping off the tags. I have the "HTML-Interpret HTML tags as styles" enabled for the report field. It will be of great help if someone can provide more information on this issue and how it can be handled. Thanks.

I've added a "use_editor" boolean to the Tutorial model. The question is, how can I detect whether the current instance has that bool set?   I'm reading a book about programming ASP.NET in C#. The book makes the following comment: Previous editions of this book tackled web services, a feature that allows you to create code routines that can be called by other applications over the Internet.Web services are more interesting when considering rich client development (because they allow you to give web features to ordinary desktop applications),and they’re in the process of being replaced by a new technology known as WCF (Windows Communication Foundation). For those reasons, web services aren’t covered in this book.However,if you want to branch out and explore the web service world,you can download the web service chapters from the previous edition of this book from the book’s download page.The information in these chapters still applies to ASP.NET 3.5,because the web service feature hasn’t changed. Can someone offer, in "layman's terms" what exactly a web service is and if, indeed, they are being replaced, at least in .Net, with WCF? What would be a practical example of a web service? Are they stand alone programs that run on a web server and are invoked by a client or clients?

• Is there any framework for Windows Forms, DB driven application development/prototyping?

  I'm writing simple database driven application, 80% of functionality is CRUD operations on about 15 tables. Coming from web development background I figured I can cover almost all of these CRUD cases with Rails scaffolding or say Django admins. So I started to look around for Rails/Django-like framework but for Windows Forms applications (ofcourse I understand that "rich client" application development significantly differs from a web development and I'm not expecting anything really similar). I was surprised that except for a variety of ORMs (let's call it Model-layer) it seems like I'm left with little choice when it comes to View-Controller layer. Maybe I'm missing something? PS. I evaluated Visual Studio DataSet Designer, but it seems to work only for the most simple cases, and requires additional code for any slightly nontrivial task. • How can I copy from the browser and paste to vim without unicode problems

  This happens to me all the time: I copy something from a rich text screen (usually a browser) and then paste it into vim. Usually its a code block and then when I go to compile or run or what have you I get all kind of bazaar errors. I scratch my head, and then spend half an hour trying to figure out what is wrong before I realize I've copied some non ASCII characters: dashes, left and right quotes, long underscores, multiplication signs in place of x's, etc. So I ask you: how can I copy non-ASCII into my VIM session without error? Is there a paste mode that automatically 'down samples' unicode to ASCII? Is there a quick/dirty search for non ASCII characters in a file?

• Why doesn't CSS support constants?

  CSS has never supported constants or variables directly. Whenever I'm writing code like this: span.class1 { color: #377fb6; } div.class2 { border: solid 1px #377fb6; /* Repeated color */ } I wonder why such a seemingly simple feature has never made it into the standard. What could be hard about implementing a scheme whereby we could avoid repetition, something like this: $theme_color1: #377fb6; span.class1 { color: $theme_color1; } div.class2 { border: solid 1px $theme_color1; } I know there are workarounds, like using a class for each color or generating CSS code from templates, but my question is: given that CSS is so rich and complex, why weren't CSS constants ever introduced?

  in my cms i have index.php, where client must enter username and password. if they are correct, he'll moove to admin.php, where the cms is. but now hacker can enter to cms/admin.php, so my security now is awful. i know, that i can use $_SESSION variable. index.php - i can give some value to $_SESSION['error']: $_SESSION['error'] = TRUE, and in admin.php just verify it admin.php if($_SESSION['error'] == TRUE) { my script here... } else header("Location: index.php"); but i want to rich this effect without SESSION. could you give me an idea, how can i do it? thanks

• Where is a Web Development Career fueled by Passion? [closed]

  Quick Background Since learning basic html 5 years ago, I've become completely obsessed with the technology, the logic, and the thrill of solving problems involved with building websites. I am still stuck at a thoroughly non-programming type job, but would really like to move into the field of web programming/design. I have no educational background in the field (was trained as a fine artist and tutor), but in the past few years have progressed fully self-taught (and self-motivated) from html to css to php, mysql, jquery, and am now building rich web applications. The Question How can I prove to a company that even though I have no education, I have a passion to learn whatever is thrown my way? ...That essentially I would come at every issue with not only knowledge, but with a passionate desire to solve it, whether that means tackling a new language or debugging code for hours at a time? p.s. Sorry for the stupid title.

• Is there a good Open Source xml ide?

  I've looked around, and I'm surprised that I can't find an Open Source equivalent to Oxygen or XMLSpy. i.e. A rich XML editor with support for diverse types of validation, XSLT debugging and profiling, and all the other extra bits that make it more than just a text editor with syntax highlighting. I've seen a few (like Jaxe), that that offer different ways to edit xml documents, but nothing that rolls it all up into an IDE-like application. I'm sure this means I've missed some very worthy project. Can anyone point me towards such a thing?
