How to you automate SQL Server 2000 incremental backups using SQL Server Agent and change the backup up name so that it has the current timestamp of when it gets backed up?
The MySQL dump backup file has the following line...
# head -40 backup20-Apr-2010-07-32.sql | grep 'CHANGE MASTER TO '
-- CHANGE MASTER TO MASTER_LOG_FILE='mysql-bin.000068', MASTER_LOG_POS=176357756;
a) I need to complete the statement with the parameters like Master host, user and password.
b) I do also need to remove the comment "--"
The line should look something like this...
CHANGE MASTER TO MASTER_HOST='111.222.333.444', MASTER_USER='slave_user', MASTER_PASSWORD='slave_user', MASTER_LOG_FILE='mysql-bin.000068', MASTER_LOG_POS=176357756;
We have a server with a database that has a symmetric key (Database - Security - Symmetric Key). We have abackup duplicate databases that we are using as a test databases, but we don't have this key in there.
How can I duplicate this symmetric key (or make a new one exactly like the old) and put it in the existing databases? It has to have the same value and key-name as the other one.
This is on SQL Server 2008.

Hi all,
I have really wired problems here. I am using MS 2008 sql server at the moment. After I did a tail-log backup, the target database is automatically restoring and keeping on restoring.
Does anyone know what's the problem?
Thanks,
Ling

Right after I finished my project for my Computer Science class, I hit save and the computer froze.
When i came back, the cpp file wouldn't open through visual studio, I have the exe and object files. Please tell me I can get my source code back :(
EDIT: the .cpp file is blank, and i wasn't prompted for recovery when starting visual studio again. I already checked /documents/visualstudio/backup, nothing is there.
Back UP RDLs Files Creation in SSRS 2008
Automatically when we save it.
Can we resolve this ?
Like if there is report which name is AssetAmount.rdl
so when we updated it and save it
then there is an autogenerated Rdl created as
AssetAmount-BackUP.rdl
AssetAmount-.rdl
so there are two rdls files in a same folder
I'm a bit confused with this one.
I have a Dataset with a BackupDate anda BackupTime as well as a BackupType. The BackupDate is comprised of 12 characters from the left of a datetime string within a table. The BackupTime is comprised of 8 characters from the right of that same datetime string. So for example: BackupDate would be 'December 12 2008' and the BackupTime would be '12:53PM.'
I have added an XY-scatter chart to the report. I've added a 'series' value for the BackupType (so one can distinguish betweena Full/Incr/Log backup). I've added a category value of BackupDate and set the Scale for the X-axis from the Min of BackupDate to the Max of BackupDate. I've then added an item to the Values with the Y variable set to BackupTime and the X variable set to BackupDate. The interval for the Y-axis is 12:00AM to 11:59PM and the formatting for the labels is 'hh:mmtt'.
The BackupTime matches the format of the Y-axis. The BackupDate matches the format of the X-axis. 10 entries are retrieved by my Dataset and the Legend is properly populated by the BackupType field.
No points are being plotted on the graph and no markers/pointers are shown if they are enabled. There should be a point on the graph for every point in time of each day there is abackup of a specific type.
Am I missing something? Does anyone know of a good tutorial dealing specifically with XY-scatter graphs and using them in a way I intend?
I am using the 2005 version of SSRS rather than the 2008 version.
Screenshot of what my chart currently looks like:
In case it could be dataset related:
SELECT TOP (10) backup_type, LTRIM(RTRIM(LEFT(backup_finish_date,
12))) AS BackupDate, LTRIM(RTRIM(RIGHT(backup_finish_date, 8))) AS BackupTime
FROM DBARepository.Backup_History
As requested, here are the results of this query. There is a Where clause to constrain the results to a specific database of a specific server that was not included in the above SQL Query.

Is this possible?
Let me explain what I mean. I have migrated from svn to hg but every once in a while need to use an old svn repository's history to figure out some issues. I don't want to have to install and run VisualSVN (I run on Windows) to do this. I have abackup of the repository via svnadmin dump. I would like to be able to pull up "svn log" and look at diffs, etc.
I have an entry in my crontab that looks like this:
0 3 * * * pg_dump mydb | gzip > ~/backup/db/$(date +%Y-%m-%d).psql.gz
That script works perfectly when I execute it from the shell, but it doesn't seem to be running every night. I'm assuming there's something wrong with the permissions, maybe crontab is running under a different user or something. How can I debug this? I'm a shared hosting environment (WebFaction).
I'm looking for a very private source control/hosting solution. Short of hosting my own, and seeing as I'm the only collaborator, what is a good service for this?
I'm using Git. The most important aspect is privacy. I don't want anyone to see my code, I'm simply using it for source control/backup. I will be the only developer.
I am trying to figure out how SQL Server DBAs are doing their backups and verify in 2005. I use the Idera's free stored procs (which is no longer available to download btw) to backupand verify and have gotten around 65% compression. If there any other free alternative?
Thanks in advance,

Hi
Is there a permission to allow one app to read the (private) data/data//files/... files of another application? If not, how do backup programs like MyBackup work?

I am trying to run code coverage in VS 2010 and I am running into the following error. No coverage information is generated.
Code coverage in-place instrumentation: Cannot fully backup the binary 'MyProject.dll'. Cannot find the back up file, created by instrumentation utility: 'MyProject.dll.orig'.
In c#, on a windows 7 machine, how can I programmatically access every file on the file system as though I was a "Master Administrator".
The main priority here, is that after my c# program is installed, that it won't run into any file/folder access permission problems. My program runs as a windows service, and it must allow a user to backup any files on the file system.
I am trying to backup my MSN Live Space by downloading RSS output.
But using API described here, I only get the latest 50 entries.
Is there any method to get all entries of my MSN Live Space?
Hi,
I want to do something like this...
try
{
# Something in this function throws an exception
Backup-Server ...
}catch
{
# Capture stack trace of where the error was thrown from
Log-Error $error
}
Ideally I'd like to capture arguments to the function and line numbers etc. (like you see in get-pscallstack)
Any ideas how to achieve this?
Dave
I'm using Git with WindRiver to manage a project of mine. The code is being managed, however the project files (such as .cproject, .project, .wrmakefile, and .wrproject) are not. However when I switch branches, Git deletes those files spite them being in .gitignore, thereby removing my ability to compile the code without having to revert commits or keeping abackup.
So, is there a way to say to Git - ignore these files and don't touch them no matter what?
I'm writing an app that will manipulate Outlook data. I want to make abackup of that data first and am hoping I could just loop through the contact/calendar items, etc and write them out to a PST file.
How can I write the contents of 1 or several Outlook folders to a PST using .Net? [vb or c# no matter]
From my c# code behind, i pass a query to mysql database and get the data in a DataTable.
Now i want to use the data in data table to write the Insert query in a script file [.sql]
The objective of doing so is, whatever records i select from mysql, i should write that to a script file as backup. Thais why i need the insert statements.
How ? Or any other idea is appreciated.
Assume that the following MySQL files have been restored from abackup tape:
tablename.frm
tablename.ibd
Furthermore, assume that the MySQL installation was running with innodb_file_per_table and that the database was cleanly shutdown with mysqladmin shutdown.
Given a fresh install of the same MySQL version that the restored MySQL files were taken from, how do I import the data from tablename.ibd/tablename.frm into this new install?
My Android application stores all user data in a Sqlite database. What are my options to backup/export/import/copy this data? I know I can easily copy the database to the SD card. I would also like to send the data to a network server. Are there any packages/classes available to facilitate getting sqlite information to/from a network server? Thanks for the help...
Long story short is I tried to quickly update a single row in SQL Server using the Management studio and just typed UPDATE table SET column='value' and forgot the WHERE other_column='other_value' portion. Went for lunch, came back and theres 15 unread emails waiting for me. Happened about an hour ago, waiting for the database guy to come back to see when the last backup was. There's no magic UNDO feature though is there?
