• EXCEL - Locking a Cell from User input whilst allowing a Linked combobox?

  I have a Protected Worksheet which is a checklist with a series of checkpoints. Each row has Item and Description cells that are locked. Each row has several columns with its contents to be set by a ComboBox and a text input column. Both i have left unlocked. I have Locked the the Item and Description columns and left only the 'Select Unlocked Cells' checked via Sheet Protection. I have one ComboBox on the worksheet that moves around and adjusts its LinkedCell and its Content list using the worksheets SelectionChanged event. When the user selects a cell to bring up the drop down list, the user is able to type into the cell and the Drop Down Box disappears. What is the best way to keep the cell unlocked so it can be selectable(as 'Select Locked Cells" is unchecked) however stop the user from being able to type in the cell and to allow the cells contents to become modifiable only via the ComboBox?

• Is MDI Form focused?

  I've had so much luck developing my application... until now. My application's main form is a MDI parent, and I didn't think of adding any MDI children in my tests until tonight. To my surprise, the MDI parent seems to never "get focus" now. The Focus event and the OnFocus method are never called! I mean... it appears focused but none of the in-code focusing events/methods work. Instead a MDI child reports the focus. How do I fix this?

• Get text when enter is pressed in a text box in wxPython

  I have a (single line) TextCtrl. The user types data into this. When they press enter, the contents of the box need to be extracted so they can be processed. I can't figure out how to catch enter being pressed. According to the docs, with the style wx.TE_PROCESS_ENTER set on my TextCtrl, it should generate a wx.EVT_COMMAND_TEXT_ENTER event when enter is pressed in the box, which I could then catch. However, wx.EVT_COMMAND_TEXT_ENTER seems not to exist (I get "module has no attribute EVT_COMMAND_TEXT_ENTER), so I'm a bit stuck. Googling just gets a couple of hits of people complaining wx.EVT_COMMAND_TEXT_ENTER doesn't work, so I guess I need another way of doing it.

• Monitoring file upload progress in Actionscript 3

  I'm trying to track the progress of a file upload in AS3, and I'm getting strange behavior. When I select a file and upload it, the progress is instantaneously 100% even if the file is 10 or more megabytes, but it's not finished. The onComplete event is fired about 30 second to a few minutes later (depending on file size) when the file has really finished uploading. I've tested this locally and on the server, the behaviour is the same. Has anyone else experienced this? Very frustrating ... Otherwise, the file is uploading fine. • GetWindowLongPtr fails if called when handling WM_CREATE

  Calling the GetWindowLongPtr function for a dialog box with the DWL_USER parameter fails when done from the WM_CREATE handler. It gives no error (checked that, the return value is always zero), which, according to the MSDN documentation, occurs only if SetWindowLongPtr has not been called previously. However, I call it after registering the window class, and properly call the SetWindowPos after that. Finally, calling GetWindowLongPtr in any other event handler, that is, later than WM_CREATE, works fine. Is there something I'm missing in the initialization sequence, or maybe the messages are sent in some not so obvious order?

  I have Microsoft Word template that I automated filling it’s fields from my application, and when the user request print I open this template. but creating word application every time user request print after filling fields is very expensive and lead to some delay while opening the template, so I choose to cache the reference to Word then just open the new filled template. that solve the performance issue as opening file is less expensive than recreating Word each time, but this work while the user just close the document not the entire Word application which when happened my reference to Word become invalid and return with exception says: “The RPC server is unavailable” next time request opening template . I tried to subscribe to BeforClosing event but his trigger for Quitting Word as well as Closing documents. My question is how to know if the word is closing document or quit the entire application so I take the proper action, or any hint for another direction of thinking about improve performance of opening word template.

• What is the best way to pass server side variables to JavaScript on the client side?

  Our application uses a lot of configuration options. Those options need to be reflected on the client side in the form of User preferences, site wide preferences, etc. Currently, we pass server side settings down to the client side in the form of JSON that is stored in custom attributes in the markup for a specific element (and no, our application currently doesn't worry about W3C validation). We then retrieve the data from the custom attribute, and parse it into a JSON object for use in script using jQuery. One drawback to this is referencing attributes on elements from within event handlers. I know this is frowned upon, as it can create circular references, and subsequently memory leaks. I would much prefer to use jQuery's data function, but you can't invoke this from the server side at page render time. What does everyone else do in this type of scenario?

• C# - Realtime console output redirection

  I'm developing a C# application and I need to start an external console program to perform some tasks (extract files). What I need to do is to redirect the output of the console program. Code like this one does not work, because it raises events only when a new line is writen in the console program, but the one I use "updates" what's shown in the console window, without writting any new lines. How can I raise an event every time the text in the console is updated? Or just get the output of the console program every X seconds? Thanks in advance!

So first I am wondering can I merge those into one SP? I am not sure how it works with this OPENXML but I would think it would just be making sure that the XPath is right. Next what happens while it would be running this combined SP and something goes wrong. Would it roll back all the records or just stop and the records that happened before this event that crashed it would be inserted?

  In the model, I have: public ObservableCollection<Item> Items { get; private set; } In the ViewModel, I have a corresponding list of ItemViewModels: public ObservableCollection<ItemViewModel> ItemViewModels ... In the XAML, I will bind (in this case a TreeView) to the ItemViewModels property. My question is, what goes in the "..." in the ViewModel shown above? I am hoping for a line or two of code to binds these two ObservableCollections (providing the type of the ViewModel to construct for each model object). However, what I'm fearing is necessary is a bunch of code to handle the Items.CollectionChanged event and manually updates the ItemViewModels list by constructing ViewModels as necessary. Thanks!   Hi All, I have a Java serial driver that's using the notifyOnDataAvailable mode to enable async. receive notification. I see an occasional problem where the SerialPortEvent.DATA_AVAILABLE serial event is not called until a relatively large no. of characters have been received (e.g. 34). The problem is that the sender sent a 20 byte packet, so the Java receiver did not send an ACK until the sender did a retry of the 20 byte send. Is there any way in Java COMM to configure the size of the receive buffer?

• Does the jQuery .unbind() method only work on jQuery created events?

  I am trying to unbind all event handlers for all elements that are inside a particular container. Like a DIV. But those events have been bound/registered not using jQuery. Some are bound the manual way with onclick="...." or using regular native JavaScript. But when i do something like this $('#TheDivContainer').find('div,td,tr,tbody,table').unbind(); It does not appear to work. Which leads me to believe that the .unbind() only works if the events have been originally bound by jQuery. Is that true? Is there another way of unbinding all events from a group of elements ? Thanks!

• How to get dataset to populate data into dbgrid in Delphi 6?

  I have created a DBGrid in Delphi 6 and tied it to a DataSource contained in a DataModule. The Dataset for that source in also located in the same module. In the OnShow event for the form, I activate the dataset and set a label equal to the rowcount for the dataset. This shows several hundred rows but nothing shows in the dbgrid. If I activate the dataset in the IDE, the grid populates with the expected data. Does anyone have any idea why this behaviour would change between the IDE and normal runtime? We are also using SDAC connection components. All 3rd party component choices are not mine to change. I can elaborate as necessary for clarification, but I mainly need troubleshooting ideas to start at.

I know that there are the SUBSCRIBE and NOTIFY commands but I have found no event package for signaling incoming calls. Background: for a SIP-capable telephony system, I would like to provide an application that displays information about the caller (e.g. name, address, contracts, etc.) when the phone rings.   I have a 2D array called "results." Each "row" array in results contains both string and integer values. I'm using this script to sort the array by any "column" on an onclick event: function sort_array(results, column, direction) { var sorted_results = results.sort(value); function value(a,b) { a = a[column]; b = b[column]; return a == b ? 0 : (a < b ? -1*direction : 1*direction) } } This works fine for the columns with strings. But it treats the columns of integers like strings instead of numbers. For example, the values 15, 1000, 200, 97 would be sorted 1000, 15, 200, 97 if "ascending" or 97, 200, 15, 1000 "descending." I've double-checked the typeof the integer values, and the script knows they're numbers. How can I get it to treat them as such?

• How can chunks be allocated in a node.js stream in object mode all at once?

  I can see how buffers, and strings can be sent as chunks, but I'm having a problem thinking about how streams can be dealt when working in object mode. Say I have a byte stream from an http request message. I want to take that message, parse, and then transform it into one big object. I already know how to parse the message. What I'm wondering is if the message is big so it has many chunks, but I want to make one object for the output how can I make sure the data event waits for the whole thing? Is this just a matter of not using the push method until the chunked data has finished being sent? That would then restrict the stream data output to a smaller object which I think I'm fine with for now. As an added condition the larger data will be reduced in size after the the transform.

If I have only the onmousedown event handled, the background color will be changed to blue for sure.   I have a number of table rows that I would like to toggle the visibility of. They should be visible if a data item I have set on them earlier equals a selected value in a form. Thing is that I thought I was able to give toggle a function that would decide if each row should be on or off, but it turns out I can only give it a boolean condition which would be an all or nothing deal kind of... So, I have this function: function() { return $(this).data('category_id') == category_id; } How can I use that to go through all the rows and toggle them on or off? Or is there a better approach to this? What should I do?

  Is it somehow possible to handle a download abort in PHP? In this specific case I am not speaking of a connection abort, but handling the event that triggers when the 'cancel' button in the browser download dialog button is clicked. Since this dialog already interprets the headers of the file that is to be download but does not actually start the download, it only seems logical there should be some way to catch this. Small (pseudo) code example to clear things up: // set some headers header('...'); // Question: what happens between the part where the headers are sent // and the actual data is being outputted to the client? • Vector.erase(Iterator) causes bad memory access

  Hi, I am trying to do a Z-Index reordering of videoObjects stored in a vector. The plan is to identify the videoObject which is going to be put on the first position of the vector, erase it and then insert it at the first position. Unfortunately the erase() function always causes bad memory access.
