  • VirtualBox error with Ubuntu virtual machine

    I am trying to work on a coding project and cannot open my Ubuntu virtual machine with Oracle VM VirtualBox. I took a snapshot yesterday at about 11, and it was working fine. Several times I closed and reopened it. Today when I tried to open it, I kept getting the error below. Failed to open a session for the virtual machine Ubuntu 12.04 32-bit. VM cannot start because the saved state file 'C:\Users\Tyler\VirtualBox VMs\Ubuntu 12.04 32-bit\Snapshots\2014-01-30T19-59-05-976647800Z.sav' is invalid (VERR_FILE_NOT_FOUND). Deleted the saved state prior to starting the VM. I tried deleting the file as it said, but none of the snapshots would open still. The file is still in my recycling bin. What can I do? Also, I took the 1/31 snapshot today before I deleted the previous one.

  • Shared folder on mac: mounted on ubuntu but not writable

    I've got a mac (called 'maxw-hackbook') with a folder (called 'work') which i've shared, making it "read & write" by me, "staff" and everyone. I've then mounted it to a folder on my ubuntu laptop, as follows: #on ubuntu laptop $ smbtree -s WORKGROUP \\MAXW-HACKBOOK maxw-hackbook \\MAXW-HACKBOOK\IPC$ IPC Service (maxw-hackbook) \\MAXW-HACKBOOK\work work $ sudo smbmount //MAX-HACKBOOK/work/ /mnt/hackbook-work -o ip=192.168.1.228,username=Max,password=passwordonmacbook,w This has successfully mounted the "work" folder on the macbook to the /mnt/hackbook-work folder in ubuntu. But, it's read-only, even though i've set the shared folder (on the mac) to be "read and write" by everybody. I need to have write access to that folder on the mac.     When I disconnect echo client like : EchoClient1.Disconnect; client disconnects fine... but EchoServer does NOT EVEN register client disconnection and it ends up with high process usage !?!? in every example and every doc it says that calling EchoClient.Disconnect is sufficient ! anyone, any idea ? (I am working in Win7, cloud that be a problem ?)   • I suspect I have multiple version of Python 2.6 installed on Mac OS X 10.6.3; how do I set which one

    When I enter in python in Terminal it loads up Python 2.6.2. However there are folders by the name of Python 2.6 in different places on my drive. I'm not sure if that's because Python 2.6 has been installed in different places or because Python just likes to have lots of folers in different places. If there are multiple installations, I could really do with being able to set which one should be used.

  • I want to run both MAMP and native local webserver on mac os x 10.6.4

    I have set up a local webserver using MAMP on ports 8888 for Apache and 8889 for MySQL - I am using this exclusively for Drupal 6 multisite. I would also like to have a local webserver using the native mac os x capabilities through ports 80 and 3306. Is it possible to run both MAMP local server and native osx webserver concurrently? I have tried to install php on my local server by editing the http.conf file but whenever I open a .php file (any php file) using Firefox I get an infinite loop of blank browser windows opening (FF) or in Safari the actual code of the php file is displayed rather than the php processed page. Have I missed/messed up something? Thanks,

    Merry christmas everyone, I Know my way around SQL but I'm having a hard time figuring this one out. First here are my tables (examples) User id name friend from //userid to //userid If user 1 is friend with user 10 then you a row with 1,10. User 1 cannot be friend with user 10 if user 10 is not friend with user 1 so you have 1,10 10,1 It may look weird but I need those two rows per relations. Now I'm trying to make a query to select the users that have the most mutual friend with a given user. For example User 1 is friend with user 10,9 and 7 and user 8 is friend with 10,9 and 7 too ,I want to suggest user 1 to invite him (like facebook). I want to get like the 10 first people with the most mutual friend. The output would be like User,NumOfMutualFriends I dont know if that can be done in a single query ?   • Clients can make maximum only 15 connections to ubuntu custom server

    I have a custom server in C# being run on Ubuntu 9 under mono. I can make up to 15 silverlight clients connect to the server. When I make the 16th, it just waits. And if I close one of the established connections, the 16th client is able to connect. I am making the connections from one machine. I am also not exceeding any file handle limit. The limit is 1024 and I am having around 300. Any ideas how to make more connections? Also why the number 15? Is it something linux-specific? EDIT: I have run the same server on an Ubuntu 11.10 virtual machine and was able to make more than 15 connections. I presume it's a configuration problem on the Ubuntu 9 machine then. Any help on that?
