Is there a way in .NET to perform the same technique Photoshop uses for Gradient Mapping (Image - Adjustments - Gradient Map [Gradient Editor])? Any ideas, links, code, etc. would be welcome.

I have a messaging aspect of my application using Jabber-net (an XMPP library.)

If I start a Timer to wait for a period of time before the next attempt, does that timer run asynchronously and the resulting Tick event join the main thread, or would I need to start my own thread and start the timer from within there?
I am building a .NET application that given a connection string, at run time, needs to be able to retrieve information from the corresponding database schema, such as available columns, datatypes, and whether they are nullable.
What is the best way to accomplish this? Has anyone done anything like this before?
Many thanks, Nigel.
I look for a free launcher or bootstrapper that checks whether the .net framework is installed, and starts my app1.exe, or app2.exe if not. Alternatively a louncher that checks for the OS version.
I am thinking about switching my blog away from Community Server to something that is simpler and focuses more on just being a good blog.
What are the different .NET blogging engines and which one do you recommend?
I want to do something like this
ffmpeg -i audio.mp3 -f flac - | oggenc2.exe - -o audio.ogg
i know how to do ffmpeg -i audio.mp3 -f flac using the process class in .NET but how do i pipe it to oggenc2?
Any example of how to do this (it doesnt need to be ffmpeg or oggenc2) would be fine.
I have a .net 4 application that uses a Com Dll to send SMS messages. I used TlbImp to create the interop assembly and that is what is referenced in the application.
When I try to create an instance of this class, it takes a really long time (2-5 seconds).
I ran performance profile in VS 2010 and the call that takes the longest by far is System.Activator.CreateInstance().
I am looking for tips on how to debug or gotchas with using Com Interop.
I have a question, which Unicode encoding to use while encoding .NET string into base64? I know strings are UTF-16 encoded on Windows, so is my way of encoding is the right one?
public static String ToBase64String(this String source) {
return Convert.ToBase64String(Encoding.Unicode.GetBytes(source));
}
Is there any way to implement Erlang-style light-weight processes in .NET?
I found some projects that implement Erlang messaging model (actors model). For example, Axum. But I found nothing about light-weight processes implementation. I mean multiple processes that run in a context of a single OS-thread or OS-process.
Hello
I didn't see a question on this subject in the archives, so here goes: For those of you experienced Mercurial users, is this a correct .hgignore file to tell VB.Net Express to ignore files/sub-dirs when adding items in a new repository?
bin
obj
temp
*.user
*.suo
*.ncb
Thank you.
As per the question title, How could I take a hex code and convert it to a .Net Color object, and do it the other way?
I googled and keep getting the same way which doesn't work.
ColorTranslator.ToHtml(renderedChart.ForeColor)
Which returns the name of the color as in 'White' instead of '#ffffff'! Doing it the other way seems to have odd results, only working some of the time...
I am use to VB.NET. The game source code I am learning from is written in C#. I find it annoying that I have to add using System.Diagnostics to the source code in order to type Debug.WriteLine.... I checked under project properties, but I cannot find the References tab that allows me to add namespaces to Imported Namespaces. Where do I find this in C#?
Also, why can't I do this in C#? Imports x = System.Math
Similar to Ubiquitous way to get the root directory an application is running in via C#, but that question seems to be related to Win Forms. How would the same be done for Web Forms?
I was using...
HttpContext.Current.Server.MapPath("~")
This works great for handling HTTP requests but seems not to work if a scheduler like Quartz.NET invokes a job (the problem I am having). The HttpContext.Current is null in that scenario since an actual HTTP request is not made.

Can I write code against .Net 4 and its libraries using VS2008? If so how should I configure it?
I realise that VS2008 will probably struggle with language changes such as the dynamic keyword but can I install the version 4 and target it anyway? My only real interest is in being able to use some of the new libraries, in particular I'm interested in the TPL (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parallel_Extensions)

Hi,
I hope somebody can help me out on this question.
I'm using a SQL database and I'm writing a VB.NET client application. This application is used on multiple computers at the same time. If one of the clients makes an update to the database I would like to have the other clients to be aware of the update.
Has ony one already done this before?
Thank you very much!
Marcel
