  • prevent autodropdown by jquery datepicker

    hi when I append jquery datepicker to my asp textbox, by clicking on it, my browser auto shows the history of the dates i typed in a dropdownlist. Can I prevent this? Set textbox to readonly isn't a good idea because asp.net doesn't read the values from read only fields in code behind. any other ideas? thank you and best regards. marc

    I'm trying to prove that changing document.domain can be used only for cross scripting on the same upper level domain. For example if i will try to change document.domain to "google.com" on page which is located on www.test.com I will get a security exception in FF. Does anybody know where to locate an official proof of that?

    All frameworks aside, what are some of the common helper functions/prototype methods you use on a daily basis? Please note I am not arguing against frameworks. I've simply found that the majority of what I do on a daily basis can, most often, be done with a few dozen Array, String and Element.prototype methods. With the addition of a few helper functions like $ (getElementsById) and $$$ (getElementsByClass), I am able to satisfy some of the core benefits, however basic, of a much heavier framework. If you were to collect a small library of basic methods and functions to replace the core functionality of some of the popular frameworks, what would they be?

    Ran into this problem today, posting in case someone else has the same issue. var execBtn = document.createElement('input'); execBtn.setAttribute("type", "button"); execBtn.setAttribute("id", "execBtn"); execBtn.setAttribute("value", "Execute"); execBtn.setAttribute("onclick", "runCommand();"); Turns out to get IE to run an onclick on a dynamically generated element, we can't use setAttribute. Instead, we need to set the onclick property on the object with an anonymous function wrapping the code we want to run. execBtn.onclick = function() { runCommand() }; BAD IDEAS: You can do execBtn.setAttribute("onclick", function() { runCommand() }); but it will break in IE in non-standards mode according to @scunliffe. You can't do this at all execBtn.setAttribute("onclick", runCommand() ); because it executes immediately, and sets the result of runCommand() to be the onClick attribute value, nor can you do execBtn.setAttribute("onclick", runCommand);

  • google maps everytime fails to place some markers on the map

    hello! im trying to place like 130/140 markers on a custom google map. i inject the map with jquery and gmaps (http://gmap.nurtext.de/) everytime, at random (not related to specific markers) a lots of markers are not shown. firebug report this error: a is null and this error comes from this file: http://maps.gstatic.com/intl/it_ALL/mapfiles/285c/maps2.api/main.js if i refresh the page...some other markers are "hidden" and other ones are shown. anyone had this problem/can help me or suggest another safe way to show all markers? thanks a lot!     Hi All, I'm currently working with CKEditor (http://ckeditor.com/). I'm looking for: 1) an exhaustive list of commands available by default via 'execCommand'. 2) a mechanism by which to set styles (as in the same way the FONT and SIZE combo boxes do it). I saw the function called 'setStyle' in the documentation, however it seems to require an exact element. I can't for the life of me figure out how to do so based on the selection -- there is no way to use ID or CLASS, as the selected portions have none. I've posted to the forums but they don't seem to be terribly active as far as replies are concerned. Any assistance would be most appreciated. Best.

    I want to create a drawing application where I can place text and images on a canvas. Those elements also need to be interactively manipulated. Eventually the resulting canvas has to be exported to a vector based PDF. An excellent contender for this functionality would be SVG. However, this application also needs to be crossbrowser compatible. I've been browsing around for some time now and have seen a couple of solutions available. I found among others RaphaelJS and Google's SVGWeb for working with SVG. Now for converting those SVG files to a PDF I'm not sure if for instance Batik will offer me what I am looking for. Also, how would bitmap images be handled when converting the SVG to PDF?

  • Unique element ID to reference later

    I'm trying to figure out a method of storing a unique reference to each tag on a particular page. I won't have any ability to edit the page content and I'll the generated UID to stay the same on every page refresh. Since browsers don't generate any kind of UID for elements, I was thinking that the only method to do this would be to execute a script which walks the DOM and creates a UID for each it comes across. I don't know how accurate this will be, especially considering I'll need to ensure it creates the same UID for the tag each time the script crawls the page. Can anyone think of any other, more accurate ways of mapping a page? Many thanks.

  • Firefox DOMContentLoaded event problem

    Hi, i've created a script that works with the Dom so it has to wait until the Dom is ready before execute every operation. I want that this script can be included in two ways: In the head tag so that it is loaded before the Dom is ready. I've used document.addEventListener("DOMContentLoaded",function(){...},false) for this and it works well Loaded dinamically when the Dom is already loaded. In this case the script doesn't work because for some reasons if the Dom is already loaded the DOMContentLoaded event isn't fired So i want to know, is there a way to check if the Dom is already loaded so that the script can execute the code without using the DOMContentLoaded event?
