    I am setting GtkEventBox with an Transparent image from gtkrc file using pixmpa engine. but issue is that in transparent are of the png image gtk is filling default window back ground color. I wan to tell gtk to fill it's parents base/bg/fg color in transparent are of the background image other than default background color. how to do it using gtkrc file or coding? Thanks, PP.

    Other team has one legacy system, which is data aggregators. It is implemented as web service using JAVA, SOAP,MTOM,Tomcat and Axis2. They have wsdl files defining functionalities such as search, retrieve data, upload, download. Our team has a new developed website which is developed using RoR with mySQL. It is sort of social networking. Users can register, add friends, upload images, videos. Also, they can search data. We are required to connect the two systems. One possible solution I think is - Adding components into our website. The component invoke services on the aggregators. - Synchronize website database to the aggregators. My doubts are: 1. How to add components in our websites? The components should use Java or Ruby or adapter from java to ruby. It is possible using ruby invoke web service. I think it should work since it is the point of web service. If so, can ruby call those services in wsdl directly? But how to deal with those different data structure? How to synchroinze our database to the aggregators. I think the best way is also through web service invocation such as upload. That means, we have to export the db records into xml files and then write some tools to upload. The web service project support MTOM. So, it is fine to upload huge data. Am I on the right record? Can anybody give me some hint. Thanks.

  • Copy recordset data into multiple sheets to avoid problem of maximum rows limit in Excel VBA

    I am developing reporting application in Excel/vba 2003. VBA code sends search query to database and gets the data through recordset. It will then be copied to one of excel sheet. The rertrieved data looks like as shown below. ProductID--|---DateProcessed--|----State----- 1................|.. 1/1/2010..............|.....Picked Up 1................|.. 1/1/2010..............|.....Forward To Approver 1................|.. 1/2/2010..............|.....Approver Picked Up 1................|.. 1/3/2010..............|.....Approval Completed 2................|.. 1/1/2010..............|.....Picked Up 3................|.. 1/2/2010..............|.....Picked Up 3................|.. 1/2/2010..............|.....Forward To Approver The problem is data retrieved from search query is so huge that it goes above the excel row limit (65536 rows in excel 2003). So I want to split this data into two excel sheets. While spliting the data I want to ensure that the data for same product shoud remain in one sheet. For example, if the last record in the above result set is 65537th record then I also want to move all records for product 3 into new sheet. So sheet1 will contain records for product id 1 and 2 with total records = 65534. Sheet 2 will cotain records for product id 3 - with total records = 2. How can I acheive this in vba? If it is not possible, is there any alternative solution ? Thanks in Advance !

  • How do I detect proximity of the mouse pointer to a line in Flex?

    I'm working on a charting UI in Flex. One of the features I want to implement is "snapping" of the mousepointer to the data points in the diagram. I. e., if the user hovers the mouse pointer over a line diagram and gets close to the data point, I want the pointer to move to the exact coordinates and show a marker, like this: Currently, the lines are drawn on a Shape, using the Graphics API. The Shape is a child DisplayObject of a custom UIComponent subclass with the exact same dimensions. This means, I already get mouseOver events on the parent of the diagram's canvas. Now I need a way to detect if the pointer is close to one of the data points. I. e. I need an answer to the question "Which data points lie within a radius of x pixels from my current position and which of them is closest?" upon each move of the mouse. I can think of the following possibilities: draw the lines not as simple lines in the graphics API, but as more advanced objects that can have their own mouseOver events. However, I want the snapping to trigger before the mouse is actually over the line. check the original data for possible candidates upon each mouse movement. Using binary search, I might be able to reduce the number of items I have to compare sufficently. prepare some kind of new data structure from the raw data that makes the above search more efficient. I don't know how that would look like. I'm guessing this is a pretty standard problem for a number of applications, but probably the actual code usually is inside of some framework. Is there anything I can read about this topic?

  • Ok to implement backend/shared functionality for iPhone in JavaScript?

    Is it ok to use the Webkit Javascript engine to implement cross-platform, non-GUI backend functionality on the iPhone, iPad? In my case, I was interested in re-using Javascript code that I have that works on top of SQLite. I thought I would need to re-implement the logic in Obj-C but perhaps I could just share it and expose some hooks into Obj-C using JSCocoa or straight through JavaScript core. Is this legal per Apple guidelines?

If you use MVC in your web application then you don't need to use something like Smarty(template engine) as you are already separating application code from presentation code anyway by using MVC right? please correct me?   • OpenGL: Implementing transformation matrix stack

    In a newer OpenGL there is no matrix stack. I am working on a simple display engine, and I am going to implement the transformation stack. What is a common strategy here? Should I build a push/pop stack, and use it with a tree representing my model? I suppose this is the "old" approach, that was deprecated in the newer OpenGL versions. Maybe then it is not the best solution (it was removed for some reason)

  • Rails paginate existing array of ActiveRecord results

    Hello, I generally use will_paginate for the pagination in my app, but have hit a stumbler on my search feature. I'm using Thinking Sphinx for doing my full-text search, which returns results paginated. The problem I'm having is that after I've received the results from Thinking Sphinx, I need to merge them with some other results and re-order them. Once I've finished processing them I have an Array of results that is very different from the original from TS. As there could be 1000+ results in this Array Pagination is a necessity. The problem is that I can't figure out how to get will_paginate to play with an existing array. I've done some research and it seems the only solutions to this problem are from several years ago and are based around the old built-in Paginator class. The most recent one I could find that makes use of will_paginate was from devchix from mid-2007: http://www.devchix.com/2007/07/23/will_paginate-array/comment-page-1/ - I've given this a go but it doesn't seem to do anything for me. Are there any current methods for applying pagination (preferably via will_paginate) for existing arrays of AR results?

    I have to make a custom function for search/replace text, because firefox counts text nodes differently than IE, Google Chrome, etc.. I am trying to use this code, that I saw at Firefox WhiteSpace Issue since in my other function, I am looping numerically through nodes, which serves my functional needs perfectly, in other browsers. But refuses to work, as part of a search/replace function that takes place after some ajax content is loaded. It requires search functionality, where the user will mention the search parameters and based on these parameters the system will return the result set. To solve this I am trying to write a function and all the user selected parameters are passed as arguments. Based on the arguments I will dynamically generate the query. Sample Query: select * from tickets inner join ticket_assigned_to on tickets.id=ticket_assigned_to.ticket_id where tickets.project_id= in ('') and tickets.status in ('') and ticket_assigned_to.user_id in ('') and tickets.reporter_user_id='' and tickets.operator_user_id in ('') and tickets.due_date between '' and '' and tickets.ts_created between '' and ''; I also need to handle cases where the arguments can be ORed or ANDed in the query. For example: select * from tickets inner join ticket_assigned_to on tickets.id=ticket_assigned_to.ticket_id where tickets.project_id= in ('') and tickets.status in ('') or tickets.due_date = '' or tickets.ts_created between '' and ''; I am also planning to use the same function at other places in the project also. Like to display all the tickets of a user or all tickets created between given dates and so on... How to handle this situation? Should I go with a single function which handles all this or numerous small functions? Need guidance here.

    One of my clients is hooked on multi-column substring matching. I understand that Contains and FreeText search for words (and at least in the case of Contains, word prefixes). However, based upon my understanding of this MSDN book, neither of these nor their variants are capable of searching substrings. I have used LIKE rather extensively (Select * from A where A.B Like '%substr%') Sample table A: ID | Col1 | Col2 | Col3 | ------------------------------------- 1 | oklahoma | colorado | Utah | 2 | arkansas | colorado | oklahoma | 3 | florida | michigan | florida | ------------------------------------- The following code will give us row 1 and row 2: select * from A where Col1 like '%klah%' or Col2 like '%klah%' or Col3 like '%klah%' This is rather ugly, probably slow, and I just don't like it very much. Probably because the implementations that I'm dealing with have 10+ columns that need searched. The following may be a slight improvement as code readability goes, but as far as performance, we're still in the same ball park. select * from A where (Col1 + ' ' + Col2 + ' ' + Col3) like '%klah%' I have thought about simply adding insert, update, and delete triggers that simply add the concatenated version of the above columns into a separate table that shadows this table. Sample Shadow_Table: ID | searchtext | --------------------------------- 1 | oklahoma colorado Utah | 2 | arkansas colorado oklahoma | 3 | florida michigan florida | --------------------------------- This would allow us to perform the following query to search for '%klah%' select * from Shadow_Table where searchtext like '%klah%' I really don't like having to remember that this shadow table exists and that I'm supposed to use it when I am performing multi-column substring matching, but it probably yields pretty quick reads at the expense of write and storage space. My gut feeling tells me there there is an existing solution built into SQL Server 2008. However, I don't seem to be able to find anything other than research papers on the subject. Any help would be appreciated.

    I'm using the Unity 3D engine to build an iPhone app, and when I go to generate my Xcode project for compilation, it includes a few fairly large libraries: Mono.Security.dll.s, System.dll.s, System.Core.dll.s, etc. I don't know if this question is really an Xcode question or a Unity question, but I'm trying to figure out why each of those libraries is being linked - which functions / classes are being referenced - ideally so that I can rewrite my code to remove as many of the dependencies as possible. Does anybody know a way to find this information out?

  • Forwarding keypresses in GTK

    I'm writing a bit of code for a Gedit plugin. I'm using Python and the interface (obviously) is GTK. So, the issue I'm having is quite simple: I have a search box (a gtk.Entry) and right below I have a results box (a gtk.TreeView). Right after you type something in the search box you are presented a bunch of results, and I would like the user to be able to press the Up/Down keys to select one, Enter to choose it, and be done. Thing is, I can't seem to find a way to forward the Up/Down keypress to the TreeView. Currently I have this piece of code: def __onSearchKeyPress(self, widget, event): """ Forward up and down keys to the tree. """ if event.keyval in [gtk.keysyms.Up, gtk.keysyms.Down]: print "pressed up or down" e = gtk.gdk.Event(gtk.gdk.KEY_PRESS) e.keyval = event.keyval e.window = self.browser.window e.send_event = True self.browser.emit("key-press-event", e) return True I can clearly see I'm receiving the right kind of event, but the event I'm sending gets ignored by the TreeView.   • ReWriteRule is redirecting rather rewriting

    At the moment I have two machines that I do web development on; an iMac for work at the office and a MacBook for when I have to work on the move. They both running OS X 10.6 have the same version of PHP, Apache, etc running on them. Both computers have the same files of the website, including the .htaccess file (see below). On the MacBook the URLs are rewritten nicely, masking the URL they are pointing to (eg site/page/page-name), however on the iMac they simply redirect to the page (eg site/index.php?method=page&value=page-name) which is making switching back and forth between machines a bit of a pain! I'm sure it must be a config setting somewhere, but I can't for the life of me find it. Has anyone got a remedy? Many thanks. I'm fairly convinced there is a much nice way of writing this htaccess file without loosing access several key folders as well!     I've got a table that has two fields (custno and custno2) that need to be searched from a query. I didn't design this table, so don't scream at me. :-) I need to find all records where either the custno or custno2 matches the value returned from a query on the same table based on a titleno. In other words, the user types in 1234 for the titleno. My query searches the table to find the custno associated with the titleno. It also looks for the custno2 for that titleno. Then it needs to do a search on the same table for all other records that have either the custno or custno2 returned in the previous search in the custno or custno2 fields for those other records. Here is what I've come up with: SELECT BILLYR, BILLNO, TITLENO, VINID, TAXPAID, DUEDATE, DATEPIF, PROPDESC FROM TRCDBA.BILLSPAID WHERE CUSTNO IN (select custno from trcdba.billspaid where titleno = '1234' union select custno2 from trcdba.billspaid where titleno = '1234' and custno2 != '') OR CUSTNO2 IN (select custno from trcdba.billspaid where titleno = '1234' union select custno2 from trcdba.billspaid where titleno = '1234' and custno2 != '') The query takes about 5-10 seconds to return data. Can it be rewritten to work faster?

Entity2 primary key is composed by a simple generated value + the id of entity one (with a many to one relationship) Unfortunately, I can't make it work.
