Need help in Architecture design in java

Can anyone help in architecture design of one of my complex application. Requirement : In web based application, we need to generate Excel kind of report as HTML page and after that we need to perform different kinds of operations like Add manual rows Delete rows Edit rows adding comments based on each cell viewing the added comments. attaching the file based on each cell viewing the attached file. Collapsible functionality for some of rows In the process of design we have come up with DB design and application framework is Spring. and for Web not yet finalized. what is the best approach to implement this kind of UI? --JSF?(keep in mind we need to Excel operations like above mentioned operations) -- Any reporting tool which will provide editing functionality? Please suggest me How can we do it? and what is the best technology for it? or is there any reporting tools?

Chrome Countdown Extension [migrated]

I have modified this countdown script to countdown to 4:20pm everyday. I have attempted to create a Google Chrome app that displays the countdown. The javascript is supposed replace a paragraph tag with id of "note" with the time left. It works when I load the page in chrome, but does not work when I load the extension. Example, if I put: <p id="note">asdf</a> I get just the text, "asdf", but when I open the html file I get the countdown. Google analytics e-commerce tracking

Good morning or afternoon wherever you are, I am having issues with Google Analytics e-commerce tracking. On certain days it the e-commerce tracking is returning a value of $1.00 of revenue which is impossible because it is a hotel booking website. Im am so puzzled and not knowing where to go next with this. Any assistance is greatly appreciated. Thank you! insert into several inheritance tables with OUTPUT - sql servr 2005

Hi, I have a bunch of items – for simplicity reasons – a flat table with unique names seeded via bulk insert: create table #items ( ItemName NVARCHAR(255) ) The database has this structure: create table Statements ( Id INT IDENTITY NOT NULL, Version INT not null, FurtherDetails varchar(max) null, ProposalDateTime DATETIME null, UpdateDateTime DATETIME null, ProposerFk INT null, UpdaterFk INT null, primary key (Id) ) create table Item ( StatementFk INT not null, ItemName NVARCHAR(255) null, primary key (StatementFk) ) Here Item is a child of Statement (inheritance). I would like to insert items in #items using a set based approach (avoiding triggers and loops). Can this be achieved with OUTPUT in my scenario. A ‘loop based’ approach is just too slow where I use something like this: insert into Statements (Version, FurtherDetails, ProposalDateTime, UpdateDateTime, ProposerFk, UpdaterFk) VALUES (1, null, getdate(), getdate(), @user_id, @user_id) etc. This is a start for the OUTPUT based approach – but I am not sure whether this would work in my case as ItemName is only inserted into Item: insert into Statements ( Version, FurtherDetails, ProposalDateTime, UpdateDateTime, ProposerFk, UpdaterFk ) output inserted.Id ... ??? Adding relative week number column to MySQl results

I have a table with 3 columns: user, value, and date. The main query returns the values for a specific user based on a date range: SELECT date, value FROM values WHERE user = '$user' AND date BETWEEN $start AND $end What I would like is for the results to also have a column indicating the week number relative to the date range. So if the date range is 1/1/2010 - 1/20/2010, then any results from the first Sun - Sat of that range are week 1, the next Sun - Sat are week 2, etc. If the date range starts on a Saturday, then only results from that one day would be week 1. If the date range starts on Thursday but the first result is on the following Monday, it would be week 2, and there are no week 1 results. Is this something fairly simple to add to the query? The only ideas I can come up with would be based on the week number for the year or the week number based on the results themselves (where in that second example above, the first result always gets week 1).

Instead of accounting for all possible ways to install your NuGet package for every user, you can simplify the installation by clarifying with the user what they want. This example shows how to generate a windows yes/no message box to get input from the user in the PowerShell install or uninstall script. We’ll use the prompt on the uninstall to confirm if the user wants to delete a custom setting that the initial install placed in their configuration. Website File and Folder Structure

I am having a problem learning how proper website structure should be. And by that I mean how to code the pages and how folder structure should be. Currently I am navigating around my website using GET variables in PHP when you want go to another page, so I am always loading the index.php file. Obviously this is not the only way to go about it and I can't find the proper way to do it because I'm sure websites don't link style sheets in every file as that would be very bad if you changed a file name or needed to add another file you would have to change it in every file. If anyone could tell me how it is actually done or point me towards a tutorial that would be great. Thanks for your time :)

Unsteady Display

I use Ubuntu 12:04. The Text character on my screen while on the inter-net s too small, so I decided to adjust the display to give larger characters. This caused the screen to become very unstable, once I am logged it the screen begins to flitter. I am now usingthe guest login. Accessing Controls Within A Gridview

Sometimes you need to access a control within a GridView, but it isn’t quite as straight forward as just using FindControl to grab the control like you can in a FormView. Since the GridView builds multiple rows the key is to specify the row. In this example there is a GridView with a control for a player’s errors. If the errors is greater than 9 the GridView should display the control (lblErrors) in red so it stands out. There are so many funny quirks in SSIS 2012 that I have to list them, to save other people from the misery. If you want to move items to one direction, make sure you "grab" the opposite side. For example, you want a whole bunch of data flows to move up, select them all and grab the lowest item. When you drag the arrow to connect Precendence Constraint, make sure you drop it on the area of target that has no text, otherwise, it thinks you want to edit the text and change the target item layout

I'm looking for a code snippet manager per the following: Usable on Windows stand-alone product desktop-based (not online) Free or paid Has PHP syntax highlighting I've found the following, but they don't seem to quite ring the bell (although they are good products): -- Snip-It Pro (not free) -- Has syntax highlighting, but seems "not there yet." -- The Guide (free: SourceForge) Tree-based info manager, no syntax highlighting. -- ActionOutline (free, upgrade not free) Tree-based info manager, no syntax highlighting. There have been questions about this before on stackoverflow, but the last one was over a year ago (over 400 answers), which is where I got the products listed above. Using Linq on a Dataset

Can someone enlighthen me with regards to Linq please? I have a dataset that is populated via a SQL Stored Procedure, the format of which is below: Country | Brand | Variant | 2004 | 2005 | 2006 | 2007 | 2008 The number of rows varies between 50 and several thousand. What I'm trying to do is use Linq to interrogate the dataset (there will be several Linq queries based on user options), but a simple example would be to SUM the year columns based on Brand. [AJAX Numeric Updown Control] Microsoft JScript runtime error: The number of fractional digits is out of range

If you have using Ajax control toolkits a lot (which I will skip the parts on where to download and how to configure it in Visual Studio 2010), you might have encountered some bugs or limitations of the controls, or rather, some weird behaviours. I would call them weird behaviours though. Recently, I've been working on a Ajax numeric updown control, which i remember clearly it was working fine without problems. In fact, I use 2 numeric updown control this time. So I went on to configure it to be as simple as possible and I will just use the default up and down buttons provided by it (so that I won't need to design my own). I have two textbox controls to display the value controlled by the updown control. One for month, and another for year. <asp:TextBox ID="txtMonth" runat="server" CssClass="txtNumeric" ReadOnly="True" Width="150px" /> <asp:TextBox ID="txtYear" runat="server" CssClass="txtNumeric" ReadOnly="True" Width="150px" /> So I will now drop 1 numeric updown control for each of the textboxes. <asp:NumericUpDownExtender ID="txtMonth_NumericUpDownExtender" runat="server" TargetControlID="txtMonth" Maximum="12" Minimum="1" Width="152"> </asp:NumericUpDownExtender> <asp:NumericUpDownExtender ID="txtYear_NumericUpDownExtender" runat="server" TargetControlID="txtYear" Width="152"> </asp:NumericUpDownExtender> You noticed that I configure the Maximum and Minimum value for the first numericupdown control, but I never did the same for the second one (for txtYear). That's because it won't work, well, at least for me. So I remove the Minimum="2000" and Maximum="2099" from there. Then I would configure the initial value to the the current year, and let the year to flow up and down freely. If you want, you want write the codes to restrict it. Tools for viewing logs of unlimited size

It's no secret that application logs can go well beyond the limits of naive log viewers, and the desired viewer functionality (say, filtering the log based on a condition, or highlighting particular message types, or splitting it into sublogs based on a field value, or merging several logs based on a time axis, or bookmarking etc.) is beyond the abilities of large-file text viewers. I wonder: Whether decent specialized applications exist (I haven't found any) What functionality might one expect from such an application? (I'm asking because my student is writing such an application, and the functionality above has already been implemented to a certain extent of usability)

Filter a List via Another

I have a requirement to filter a list of Clients based on if they haven't had any jobs booked in the last x months. In my code I have two lists, one is my Clients and the other is a filtered List of Jobs between today and x months ago and the idea is to filter Clients based on their id not appearing in the jobs list. I tried the following: filteredClients.Where(n => jobsToSearch.Count(j => j.Client == n.ClientID) == 0).ToList(); But I seem to get ALL clients regardless. I can easily do a foreach but this severly slows down the process. How can I filter the client list based on the job list effectively?

VBA for filtering columns

I have a big database-like sheet, first row contains headers. I would like a subset of rows of this table based on column values. Two issues: 1) VBA-wise I would like to loop through the columns, when the values for all necessary columns all match, copy the entire row into a new sheet. 2) The subset of rows is based on a list. This should be the first column to be looped through. For example I want all rows where the value in column A is equal to one of the values in my list. Is there any possibility to autofilter strings based on a list (column) of strings? EDIT Thanks to @Doug Glancy the autofiltering works now, so I've removed my (horrible) code and issue 1 is solved.

System.NullReferenceException with WhoCanHelpMe Unit Test

I'm working with a test project based on WhoCanHelpMe, which is based on Sharp Architecture, NHibernateValidator, etc. As its written the when_the_profile_tasks_is_asked_to_create_a_profile unit test creates the profile object and saves it without issue. Now the profile object is a CreateProfileDetails type that derives from their own ValidatableValueObject which inherits the IValidatable interface. The problem surfaces when my class is based on an Entity rather than their ValidatableValueObject. When the test is run a System.NullReferenceException because Validate() is null. I'm afraid that I'm at a loss to resolve this bad behavior. Does anyone have some suggestions to get to the bottom of this? Thanks, -Ted-

My original thought was to do a gsub on all words in buy_it to become 'true' or 'false' based on them existing in the itemx tags array and then exec the resulting string to get a boolean result. But since the Ruby community is usually more creative than me, is there a better solution?
