  • CSS with Aligned LI within a UL

    - by Alex
    I am trying to have some LIs within a UL align left, right, and center within a page. For the life of me, I can't figure out how to keep something "centered" on the same line as a left and right aligned LI. <style> ul { margin:1em 0; padding:0 } ul li{ display:inline-block; white-space:nowrap; margin:5px } ul li.left{ float: left; text-align:left; } ul li.center{ float:left; text-align: center; } ul li.right{ float: right; text-align:right; } </style> <ul> <li class="left">left</li> <li class="center">center</li> <li class="right">right</li> </ul> <ul> <li class="left">left</li> <li class="right">right</li> </ul> <ul> <li class="left">left</li> </ul> Can anyone help? BTW, I've trying to avoid DIVs. Thanks!

  • Capturing stdout from an imported module in wxpython and sending it to a textctrl, without blocking the GUI

    - by splafe
    There are alot of very similar questions to this but I can't find one that applies specifically to what I'm trying to do. I have a simulation (written in SimPy) that I'm writing a GUI for, the main output of the simulation is text - to the console from 'print' statements. Now, I thought the simplest way would be to create a seperate module GUI.py, and import my simulation program into it: import osi_model I want all the print statements to be captured by the GUI and appear inside a Textctrl, which there's countless examples of on here, along these lines: class MyFrame(wx.Frame): def __init__(self, *args, **kwds): <general frame initialisation stuff..> redir=RedirectText(self.txtCtrl_1) sys.stdout=redir class RedirectText: def __init__(self,aWxTextCtrl): self.out=aWxTextCtrl def write(self,string): self.out.WriteText(string) I am also starting my simulation from a 'Go' button: def go_btn_click(self, event): print 'GO' self.RT = threading.Thread(target=osi_model.RunThis()) self.RT.start() This all works fine, and the output from the simulation module is captured by the TextCtrl, except the GUI locks up and becomes unresponsive - I still need it to be accessible (at the very minimum to have a 'Stop' button). I'm not sure if this is a botched attempt at creating a new thread that I've done here, but I assume a new thread will be needed at some stage in this process. People suggest using wx.CallAfter, but I'm not sure how to go about this considering the imported module doesn't know about wx, and also I can't realistically go through the entire simulation architecture and change all the print statements to wx.CallAfter, and any attempt to capture the shell from inside the imported simulation program leads to the program crashing. Does anybody have any ideas about how I can best achieve this? So all I really need is for all console text to be captured by a TextCtrl while the GUI remains responsive, and all text is solely coming from an imported module. (Also, secondary question regarding a Stop button - is it bad form to just kill the simulation thread?). Thanks, Duncan

  • is concatenating the only way to 'import' one JS lib from another?

    - by Nikita
    Disclaimer: JS novice I have a JS widget that depends on JQuery. The widget's going to be embedded in a 3rd party site but I figure out how to avoid declaring dependency on jquery on the widget-hosting page: 3rd party's page: <head> <script type="text/javascript" src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.4.2/jquery.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="http://mydomain/mywidget.js"></script> </head> mywidget.js jQuery(document).ready(function() { //do stuff }); I'd rather not include jquery.js in the 3d party page but express the dependency inside mywidget.js (so i can change this dependency or add/remove others w/o having to update the widget-hosting page) I tried adding: var script = document.createElement('script'); script.src = 'http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.4.2/jquery.js'; script.type = 'text/javascript'; document.getElementsByTagName('head')[0].appendChild(script); to the top of mywidget.js but that didn't work - jquery.js did load on page load but "jQuery" was not recognized. What did work was concatenating jquery.js and mywidget.js into a single .js file. But that seems kind of lame - is there no equivalent to? import com.jquery.*; thanks!

  • jQuery AJAX PHP JSON problem

    - by Curro
    Hi Gurus I'm facing the problem of receiving an empty array when I do an AJAX request in the following way: This is the code I'm executing in JavaScript: <script type="text/javascript" src="lib/jquery.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="lib/jquery.json.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function(){ /* Preparar JSON para el request */ var mJSON = new Object; mJSON.id_consulta = new Array; for (var i=0; i<3; i++){ mJSON.id_consulta[i] = new Object; mJSON.id_consulta[i].id = i; } var sJSON = $.toJSON(mJSON); $.ajax({ type: "POST", url: "getUbicaciones.php", data: sJSON, dataType: "json", contentType: "application/json; charset=utf-8", success: function(respuesta){ alert(respuesta); }, error: function (request,error){ alert("Error: " + request.statusText + ". " + error); } }); }); </script> And this is the code under PHP: <?php /* Decodificar JSON */ $m_decoded = $_POST; print_r($m_decoded); exit; ?> And all I get from this, using Chrome's Developer Tools is an empty array: Array ( ) Any clues on what am I doing wrong? The string sJSON is being encoded correctly, this is what I get when I do an "alert" on that one: {"id_consulta":[{"id":1},{"id":2},{"id":3}]} Thank you everyone in advance!

  • How to avoid resetting the java Scanner position

    - by Derek
    I have some code that looks more or less like this: while(scanner.hasNext()) { if(scanner.findInLine("Test") !=null) { //do some things }else{ scanner.nextLine(); } } I am using this to parse an ~10MB text file. The problem is, if I put a breakpoint on the while() and the scanner.nextLine(), I can see that sometimes the scanners position (in the debug window) goes back to zero. I think this is causing me some kind of loop blow up, because the regext in findInLine() starts at zero, looks through some amount of text, advancing the position, and then it randomly gets set back to zero, so it has to re-parse all that text again. Any ideas what can be causing that? Am I even doing this the right way? Thanks Some additional info: The Scanner is instantiated from an InputStream. After diubg sine debugging, it appears that there is a HearCharBuffer that Scanner uses and it only allows 1024 characters at a time, and then resets. Is there a way to avoid this, or do things differently? That seems like a small amount of characters to be able to scan. Derek

  • Smallcaps / multiple fonts and bolding using 'DrawString' in GDI+

    - by Simon_Weaver
    I want to write out some text using smallcaps in combination with different fonts for different words. To clarify I might want the message 'Welcome to our New Website' which is generated into a PNG file for the header of a page. The text will be smallcaps - everything is capitalized but the 'W', 'N' and 'W' are slightly larger. The 'New Website' will be in a different font than the rest of the text. Is there a way i can do this without doing it completely manually? Doing something like this is conceptually what I want to do : graphics.DrawString("<font size=2>W</font>ELCOME TO OUR <b><font size=2>N</font>" + "EW <font size=2>W</font>EBSITE</b>"); The best approach I could find so far is here, but I'm worried that I'll go to all the trouble to do this manually and end up with some horrible kerning or tracking problems. Edit: I should have mentioned that this is being done within ASP.NET so it needs to be fast and as lean as possible. I want it to be automated so I can localize easily and not have to create tonnes of little images.

  • Parsing URL error

    - by user577875
    It didn't seem like there was a post about this, so here goes. I've been working on a simple app to grab my time table from my school, and get it on my phone. Currently I'm working on the port on android but I've hit an issue. I get the error: java.io.IOException: -1 error loading URL urladress. Code: public void updateTimeTable(){ //Get UID and Birthday SharedPreferences prefs = PreferenceManager.getDefaultSharedPreferences(getBaseContext()); String uid = prefs.getString("uid", "000000"); String fods = prefs.getString("fodsdag", "000000"); //Set URL String url = "http://unv1.aalborg-stu.dk/cgi-bin/elevskema.pl?ugen=0&unavn=" + uid + "&fodsdag=" + fods; try { Document doc = Jsoup.connect(url).get(); Elements td = doc.getElementsByTag("td"); //ArrayList<String> tdArray = new ArrayList<String>(); // for (Element tds : td) { // String tdText = tds.text(); // tdArray.add(tdText); //} //String[] data = tdArray.toArray(new String[tdArray.size()]); } catch (IOException e ){ Log.e("Parser", "shite", e); } Context context = getApplicationContext(); CharSequence text = url; int duration = Toast.LENGTH_SHORT; Toast toast = Toast.makeText(context, text, duration); toast.show(); } I've commented some lines out to identify where the issue is, and it seems it's at the actual parsing. Anywho, screenshot of the error I get: Screenshot I got about 4 days worth of Java experience so forgive me if it's something silly. Best Regards

  • Dynamically including multiple files within php for image descriptions

    - by Steve Jones
    Working on implementing image descriptions to a php run gallery and can't seem to figure out how to call each text file for each individual image. //total number of images $total = 77; //max number of thumbnails per page $max = 9; //what image do we want to start from? $startcount = $_GET["start"]; //if there is not a defined starting image, we start with the first if(empty($startcount)) { $startcount = 0; } //start off the loop at 1 $loop = 1; //start the loop while($loop <= $max) { //for the picture labels $num = $startcount + $loop; if($num > $total) { $num = $num - 1; break; } // Add class="last" to every third list item if(is_int($num / 3)) { $last = ' class="last"'; } else { $last = ""; } //the code for the image echo ' <li'.$last.'><a href="images/portfolio/pic-'.$num.'.jpg" rel="milkbox[gall1]"><img src="images/portfolio/thumbs/pic-'.$num.'-thumb.jpg" width="256" height="138" alt="Thumbnail of image '.$num.'" /></a><div>'.$num.'</div></li>'; I see that I can call the text files by number using '.$num.' (I have 77 individual text files with a phrase in each) but how do I tell it to call the files?

  • Combining XmlWriter objects?

    - by Kevin
    The way my application is structured, each component generates output as XML and returns an XmlWriter object. Before rendering the final output to the page, I combine all XML and perform an XSL transformation on that object. Below, is a simplified code sample of the application structure. Does it make sense to combine XmlWriter objects like this? Is there a better way to structure my application? The optimal solution would be one where I didn't have to pass a single XmlWriter instance as a parameter to each component. function page1Xml() { $content = new XmlWriter(); $content->openMemory(); $content->startElement('content'); $content->text('Sample content'); $content->endElement(); return $content; } function generateSiteMap() { $sitemap = new XmlWriter(); $sitemap->openMemory(); $sitemap->startElement('sitemap'); $sitemap->startElement('page'); $sitemap->writeAttribute('href', 'page1.php'); $sitemap->text('Page 1'); $sitemap->endElement(); $sitemap->endElement(); return $sitemap; } function output($content) { $doc = new XmlWriter(); $doc->openMemory(); $doc->writePi('xml-stylesheet', 'type="text/xsl" href="template.xsl"'); $doc->startElement('document'); $doc->writeRaw( generateSiteMap()->outputMemory() ); $doc->writeRaw( $content->outputMemory() ); $doc->endElement(); $doc->endDocument(); $output = xslTransform($doc); return $output; } $content = page1Xml(); echo output($content); Update: I may abandon XmlWriter altogether and use DomDocument instead. It is more flexible and it also seemed to perform better (at least on the crude tests I created).

  • WPF - Dynamically access a specific item of a collection in XAML

    - by Andy T
    Hi, I have a data source ('SampleAppearanceDefinitions'), which holds a single collection ('Definitions'). Each item in the collection has several properties, including Color, which is what I'm interested in here. I want, in XAML, to display the Color of a particular item in the collection as text. I can do this just fine using this code below... Text="{Binding Source={StaticResource SampleAppearanceDefinitions}, Path=Definitions[0].Color}" The only problem is, this requires me to hard-code the index of the item in the Definitions collection (I've used 0 in the example above). What I want to do in fact is to get that value from a property in my current DataContext ('AppearanceID'). One might imagine the correct code to look like this.... Text="{Binding Source={StaticResource SampleAppearanceDefinitions}, Path=Definitions[{Binding AppearanceID}].Color}" ...but of course, this is wrong. Can anyone tell me what the correct way to do this is? Is it possible in XAML only? It feels like it ought to be, but I can't work out or find how to do it. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks! AT

Regardless whether it is or not, the files I want to parse contain it, and I need some way to parse them. Any suggestions for another parser than Expat, or settings for Expat, that would allow me to do that?

  • jQuery + External javascript: How to embed videoplayer in div

    - by Dennis
    I just started with jQuery and so far I have a really good impression of the framework. But now I have a problem that I can't figure out on myself. I want to embed an external javascript file that loads a videoplayer and displays it. If I include the <script>...</script> directly in HTML it loads just fine. But when I try to load it with jQuery it has very different behaviors in several browsers but it doesn't work in a single one. Either the player is not loaded at all or it doesn't update the selected div but reloads the player on a blank page. This is the source: <html> <head> <style type="text/css"> div#test { width: 100%; height: 500px; margin: 10px auto; padding: 5px; border: 1px solid #777; background-color: #fbca93; text-align: center; } </style> <script src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.4.1/jquery.min.js"></script> <script> $(document).ready(function(){ var video = "<script type=\'text\/javascript\' src=\'http:\/\/www.physicalfitnet.com\/video_syndication\/embed\/jssingle.aspx?vid=651&pub=9DF8233261D101B86368400385B8FF2E\'><\/script>"; $("div#test").html(video); }); </script> </head> <body> <div id="test"> Hi</div> </body> </html> I uploaded everything to http://kernast.de/test ... any help is appreciated. • Validating parameters according to a fixed reference

    - by James P.
    The following method is for setting the transfer type of an FTP connection. Basically, I'd like to validate the character input (see comments). Is this going overboard? Is there a more elegant approach? How do you approach parameter validation in general? Any comments are welcome. public void setTransferType(Character typeCharacter, Character optionalSecondCharacter) throws NumberFormatException, IOException { // http://www.nsftools.com/tips/RawFTP.htm#TYPE // Syntax: TYPE type-character [second-type-character] // // Sets the type of file to be transferred. type-character can be any // of: // // * A - ASCII text // * E - EBCDIC text // * I - image (binary data) // * L - local format // // For A and E, the second-type-character specifies how the text should // be interpreted. It can be: // // * N - Non-print (not destined for printing). This is the default if // second-type-character is omitted. // * T - Telnet format control (<CR>, <FF>, etc.) // * C - ASA Carriage Control // // For L, the second-type-character specifies the number of bits per // byte on the local system, and may not be omitted. final Set<Character> acceptedTypeCharacters = new HashSet<Character>(Arrays.asList( new Character[] {'A','E','I','L'} )); final Set<Character> acceptedOptionalSecondCharacters = new HashSet<Character>(Arrays.asList( new Character[] {'N','T','C'} )); if( acceptedTypeCharacters.contains(typeCharacter) ) { if( new Character('A').equals( typeCharacter ) || new Character('E').equals( typeCharacter ) ){ if( acceptedOptionalSecondCharacters.contains(optionalSecondCharacter) ) { executeCommand("TYPE " + typeCharacter + " " + optionalSecondCharacter ); } } else { executeCommand("TYPE " + typeCharacter ); } } }

  • How can I call `update_attribute` for a list item in rails then actually update the html using jquery?

    - by Patrick Connor
    I want my users to be able to mark one or more items from an index view as "Active" or "Inactive" using a link. The text for the link should be state aware - so it might default to "Mark as Active" if the corresponding attribute was false or null, and "Mark as Inactive" if true. Once the user clicks the link and the attribute is updated in the controller, the link-text should update based on the new state. I am WAY off here, but this is a small sample of the code I have been trying... CONTROLLER ... respond_to :html, :js ... def update @item = Item.find(params[:id]) if @item.update_attributes(params[:item]) #Not sure of how to respond to .js here end end ... update.js.erb #how do I identify which element to update? $('#item[13456]').html("State aware text for link_to") VIEW - for item in @items = item.name = link_to "Mark as Active", item_path(item), :method => :put, :remote => true. :id => "item[#{item.id}]" I am happy to read any APIs, blogs, tutorials, etc. I just can't seem to get my hands/mind around this task. Any help or guidance is greatly appreciated!

  • Input questions mysql php html

    - by Marcelo
    (Q1)Hi I'm using textbox in my project and I can't receive the values that are typed <textarea rows="5" cols="60"> Type your suggestion </textarea> <br> <input type="submit" name="sugestao" value="Submit" /> Sorry I don't know how to 'kill' html code, that's why < is missing. All I'm getting in the column of the database from this text box is "Submit", I'd like to receive whatever is written in the text area. How can I make the value equal whaterever is typed? (Q2) How can I make sure that I'll only store the same type(int,varchar,text) that I setted,declared in the database. For example: age(int), but if someone types "abc" in the input it will be stored in my database as the value 0 . How can I forbid this, and only save the age when it's just int and all the other fields(like name, email) are filled ?. And if is still possible warn the user that he is typing something wrong, don't need to say where. Sorry for any mistake in English and Thanks for the attention.

  • I get NaN when I try to insert some HTML into a DIV element with jQuery

    - by Ankur
    I am tring to display a text box when a element of class numObj is clicked. For some reason I get NaNNaNaNaNNaNNaNaNaN where I expect to the see the result of the searchForm variable in the code below. I know that NaN stands for Not a Number. What I don't understand is why is Javascript expecting a number? I can't understand why it cares. $(".numObj").live('click',function(){ var preId = $(this).attr('preId'); var arrayPos = $(this).attr('numArrayPos'); alert(preId +" "+arrayPos); var searchForm = "<table border='0' cellspacing='0' cellpadding='4' id='add-tag2'>"+ +"<tr class='normal'><td bgcolor='#EEEEEE' valign='bottom' nowrap='nowrap'><span class='normal-small'>"+ +"<input name='predicate-name2' type='text' class='normal' id='predicate-name2' size='4' />"+ +"</span></td>"+ +"<td bgcolor='#EEEEEE' valign='bottom' nowrap='nowrap'><span class='normal-small'>&lt;=</span></td>"+ +"<td bgcolor='#EEEEEE' valign='bottom' nowrap='nowrap'>x</td>"+ +"<td valign='bottom' bgcolor='#EEEEEE'>&lt;=</td>"+ +"<td valign='bottom' bgcolor='#EEEEEE'><span class='normal-small'>"+ +"<input type='text' name='object-object2' id='object-object2' class='normal' size='4' />"+ +"</span></td>"+ +"</tr>"+ +"</table>"; $(".numObj").filter("[preId='"+preId+"']").filter("[numArrayPos='"+arrayPos+"']").html(searchForm); }); The generated code that has the numObj class looks something like this <td><div class="numObj" preid="73" numarraypos="5"><span class="normal">585.0</span></div></td>

  • c# winforms events restore textbox contents on escape

    - by aj3jr
    Using c# in 2008 Express. I have a textbox containing a path. I append a "\" at the end on Leave Event. If the user presses 'Escape' key I want the old contents to be restored. When I type over all the text and press 'Escape' I hear a thump and the old text isn't restored. Here what I have so far ... public string _path; public string _oldPath; this.txtPath.KeyPress += new System.Windows.Forms.KeyPressEventHandler(txtPath_CheckKeys); this.txtPath.Enter +=new EventHandler(txtPath_Enter); this.txtPath.LostFocus += new EventHandler(txtPath_LostFocus); public void txtPath_CheckKeys(object sender, KeyPressEventArgs kpe) { if (kpe.KeyChar == (char)27) { _path = _oldPath; } } public void txtPath_Enter(object sender, EventArgs e) { //AppendSlash(sender, e); _oldPath = _path; } void txtPath_LostFocus(object sender, EventArgs e) { //throw new NotImplementedException(); AppendSlash(sender, e); } public void AppendSlash(object sender, EventArgs e) { //add a slash to the end of the txtPath string on ANY change except a restore this.txtPath.Text += @"\"; } Thanks in advance,
