• Use of 'this keyword' javascript in IE ?

  Is there a workaround for Internet Explorer to implement the functionality offered by 'this' javascript keyword to get the dom element that triggered the event? My problem scenario is : I have a variable number of text fields in the html form, like input type="text" id="11" input type="text" id="12" .. I need to handle the "onchange" event for each text field, and the handling is dependent on the 'id' of the field that triggered the event. So far I understand that my options are: 1) attach a dedicated event handler for each text field. so if I have n fields, i have n different functions, something like: input type="text" id="11" onchange="function11();" input type="text" id="12" onchange="function12();" but the text fields are added and removed dynamically, so a better way would be to have one generic function instead. 2) use the 'this' keyword like: input type="text" id="11" onchange="functionGeneric(this);" input type="text" id="12" onchange="functionGeneric(this);" But this option does not work with Internet Explorer. Can anyone suggest a work around for getting it work in IE or some other solution that can be applied here? Thanks.

• Custom control doesn't fire validation

  I've written a custom ASP.net control that descends from LinkButton and overrides the Render() method. I'm using it to replace ImageButtons in the site I'm working on so we don't have to have an image for each button. This control works fine, does the required post-backs etc., however it doesn't fire the validators in its validation group. This is obviously an issue. • Is it OK to use WPF assemblies in a web app?

  I have an ASP.NET MVC 2 app targeting .NET 4 that needs to be able to resize images on the fly and write them to the response. I have code that does this and it works. I am using System.Drawing.dll. However, I want to enhance my code so that not only am I resizing the image, but I am dropping it from 24bpp down to 4bit grayscale. I could not, for the life of me, find code on how to do this with System.Drawing.dll. But I did find a bunch of WPF stuff. If anyone knows how to drop the bit depth without all this WPF stuff (which I barely understand, BTW) I would be thrilled to see that too.

Unfortunately, I need to pass in the correct type. That means building the correct string to pass to Type.GetType(). If I trace through the call to Controller.CreatebyEnum() in the code I posted above, simply doing modelType.ToString() isn't sufficient, even for the case of DataModelType.Company. My solution'll be maintenance bottleneck. What would be better is something that takes the results of modelType.ToString() and then recursively searches through all the types found in all the assemblies loaded in the current AppDomain. According to MSDN, Type.GetType() only searches the current calling assembly, and mscorlib.dll. How can i do that? . i need best performance?

  Hi, I keep receiving this error in my ASP.NET web app (below). I give the Network Service account rights to the specified folder, it runs fine for a while, but then within a day or two the error reoccurs, as the Network Service account has been removed from the rights for the folder. Adding it again fixes it, but why does it keep reocurring? Could it be anything to do with using Interop components (such as WMI)? Here's the full error: Server Error in '/DriveMonitor' Application. • Reflecting over classes in .NET produces methods only differing by a modifier

  I'm a bit boggled by something, I hope the CLR gearheads can help. Apparently my gears aren't big enough. I have a reflector utility that generates assembly stubs for Cola for .NET, and I find classes have methods that only differ by a modifier, such as virtual. Example below, from Oracle.DataAccess.dll, method GetType(): class OracleTypeException : System.SystemException { virtual string ToString (); virtual System.Exception GetBaseException (); virtual void set_Source (string value); virtual void GetObjectData (System.Runtime.Serialization.SerializationInfo info, System.Runtime.Serialization.StreamingContext context); virtual System.Type GetType (); // here virtual bool Equals (object obj); virtual int32 GetHashCode (); System.Type GetType (); // and here } What is this? • JQuery Hover does not work Mozilla

  I have the following Snippet of code.The hover has a problem in Mozilla - It changes color on hover but some times it does not revert back when we go out.Mind you it only happens sometimes.Also in such cases if I examine the HTML using FireBug I can see that the Extra Class is assigned even after hover is out.It works OK on IE .This is a simplified version Also as you can see I am setting color on the TR.But this does not change the Color on TextBoxes inside TR.   I have a form on my website in which one is able to submit a cat. The form contains inputs such as "Name" and "Gender", but I am just trying to get the auto completion to work with the "Name" field. • Hiding/blocking tabs using windows forms in c#

  The thing is that i have a 'log in window' and a 'mainwindow' that is called after pressing the log in button or the "VISITANT" button If pressing the log in button, the whole system will come out, and if i press the VISITANT button, one tab should disappear or be blocked or something. private void visitant(object sender, EventArgs e) { mainwindow menu = new mainwindow(); menu.Show(); //mainwindow.tabPage1.Enabled = false; //attempt1 //mainwindow.tabPage1.Visible = false; //attempt1 //System.Windows.Forms.tabPage1.Enabled = false;//attempt2 //System.Windows.Forms.tabPage1.Visible = false;//attempt2 this.Hide(); } the errors i get for using the attempt1 are Error 1 'System.mainwindow.tabPage1' is inaccessible due to its protection level' Error 2 An object reference is required for the non-static field, method, or property 'System.mainwindow.tabPage1' and the one i get for using the attempt2 is Error 1 The type or namespace name 'tabPage1' does not exist in the namespace 'System.Windows.Forms' (are you missing an assembly reference?) as you probably have guessed "tabPage1" is the tab i need to hide when pressing the visitant button. • IIS 6+ASP.NET - many temp files generated

  I have a ASP.NET + some .NET web-services running on IIS 6 (win 2003 server). The issue is that IIS is generating a lot (!) of files in "c:\WINDOWS\Temp" directory. a lot of files means thousands of files, which get to more than 3G of size so far. UPDATE: The problem is that the command i described above (csc.exe) is being executed many (many) times, causing the .out & .err to be generated so many times, until it consumes the disk space. So - my question is: what is causing this command to run so many times? (i don't have that many .aspx & .asmx files in my web app). Thanks, Moe

  I need a refresher on moving classes from one file into two files. My sample code is in one file called "external_class_file_main". • Why does C++ not allow multiple types in one auto statement?

  The 2011 C++ standard introduced the new keyword auto, which can be used for defining variables instead of a type, i.e. auto p=make_pair(1,2.5); // pair<int,double> auto i=std::begin(c), end=std::end(c); // decltype(std::begin(c)) In the second line, i and end are of the same type, referred to as auto. The standard does not allow auto i=std::begin(container), e=std::end(container), x=*i; when x would be of different type. My question: why does the standard not allow this last line? It could be allowed by interpreting auto not as representing some to-be-decuded type, but as indicating that the type of any variable declared auto shall be deduced from its assigned value. Is there any good reason for the C++11 standard to not follow this approach? There is actually a use case for this, namely in the initialisation statement of for loops: for(auto i=std::begin(c), end=std::end(c), x=*i; i!=end; ++i, x+=*i) { ... } when the scope of the variables i, end, and x is limited to the for loop. AFAIK, this cannot be achieved in C++ unless those variables have a common type. Is this correct? (ugly tricks of putting all types inside a struct excluded) There may also be use cases in some variadic template applications.

• Same jQuery code returns two different results – Submit Button Text

• jquery ui css not loading and creating poblems with asp.net mvc3 page (unexpected token error)

  hi, So I suspect Im doing something silly, but first off, I can see that my mvc3 project already had jquery ui in it but no theme css files. I needed a date picked and as usual needed to override the EditorFor DateTime. I started off today by just using the default jquery ui js files supplied with the project under scripts. The date picker shows up fine, only with a completed messed up UI based on Site.css. So now I downloaded a build of jquery (with the start theme) and followed this page about how to put it together. • Can Bonjour browse a service with a particular name?

  Bonjour provides "DNSSD.browse(serviceType,callBackObject)" method which browses for services of a particular type. If a service of the given type is found, Bonjour call "callBackObject.serviceFound". If the service is lost, Bonjour calls "callBackObject.serviceLost". I alway considered "DNSSD.browse" as a method for monitoring a particular service. Bonjour monitors a particular service and calls necessary method if the service is found (available) or lost (not available). But than I realized that "DNSSD.browse" receives (as argument) a type of service (for example "http.tcp") and there can be several services of this type. So, its probably calls "serviceFound" and "serviceLost" if any service of the specified type is found or lost, respectively. But in my application I would like to browse just for one particular service. What is the best way to do it? I have two potential solutions: When I register a service, I give it a unique type. For example: "server1.http.tcp". I register services with unique names (not types) and ask Bonjour to browse for services with particular names. But I am not sure that Bonjour provide such possibility. Can it browse for services with specific names?

• ASP.NET MVC3 - Bug using Javascript

  Hey there, I'm trying to use Ajax.BeginForm() to POST A Json result from my controller (I'm using MVC3).
