• Android: Filtering a SimpleCursorAdapter ListView

  Right now, I'm running into issues trying to implement a FilterQueryProvider in my custom SimpleCursorAdapter, since I'm unsure of what to do in the FilterQueryProvider's runQuery function. In other words, since the query that comprises my ListView basically gets the rowID, name, and a third column from my databases's table, I want to be able to filter the cursor based on the partial value of the name column. However, I am uncertain of whether I can do this directly from runQuery without expanding my DB class since I want to filter the existing cursor, or will I have to create a new query function in my DB class that partially searches my name column, and if so, how would I go about creating the query statement while using the CharSequence constraint argument in runQuery? I am also concerned about the performance issues associated with trying to run multiple queries based on partial text since the DB table in question has about 1300-1400 rows. In other words, would I run into a bottleneck trying to filter the cursor?

  This is a kind of unorthodox question. Frankly, I won't lie to you. I am new to programming and am planning to improve myself. I enjoy coding but I need something to keep me going during the down times, so my question is: Is there such a thing as a code editor skin? A compiler skin? For example, you have the Command Prompt, it has a black background with white writing, it seems geeky, exactly what I want. I want a compiler that looks like command prompt...black with white writing (or green) or still has color coding (some compilers change color of text based on command). Yes, this is mainly for boasting, but I don't want to show someone something that basically looks like a text editor, I just want something that looks a little cooler. P.S (This question may seem a little unnecessary, it is because it is my first question, I'd like to warm up to this community before I start asking some real questions about code.)

• Slow select when inserting large amounts of data (MYSQL)

  I have a process that imports a lot of data (950k rows) using inserts that insert 500 rows at a time. The process generally takes about 12 hours, which isn't too bad. Normally doing a query on the table is pretty quick (under 1 second) as I've put (what I think to be) the proper indexes in place. The problem I'm having is trying to run a query when the import process is running. It is making the query take almost 2 minutes! What can I do to make these two things not compete for resources (or whatever)? I've looked into "insert delayed" but not sure I want to change the table to MyISAM. Thanks for any help!

  I have 2 Entities "UserProfile" and "Agent", they are 1-many relationship. I want to do a query to get a list of Agents by giving the userProfileEntityKey. If there is no query string, the results should not be filtered, all results should be returned. • Decode sparse json array to php array

  I can create a sparse php array (or map) using the command: $myarray = array(10=>'hi','test20'=>'howdy'); I want to serialize/deserialize this as JSON. I can serialize it using the command: $json = json_encode($myarray); which results in the string {"10":"hi","test20":"howdy"}. However, when I deserialize this and cast it to an array using the command: $mynewarray = (array)json_decode($json); I seem to lose any mappings with keys which were not valid php identifiers. That is, mynewarray has mapping 'test20'=>'howdy', but not 10=>'hi' nor '10'=>'hi'. Is there a way to preserve the numerical keys in a php map when converting to and back from json using the standard json_encode / json_decode functions?

  I want to write a MySQL statement like: SELECT * FROM someTable WHERE someId IN (value1, value2, value3, ...) The trick here is that I do not know ahead of time how many values there will be in the IN(). Obviously I know I can generate the query on the go with string manipulations, however since this will run in a loop, I was wondering if I could do it with a PDO PreparedStatement. Something like: $query = $PDO->prepare('SELECT * FROM someTable WHERE someId IN (:idList)'); $query->bindValue(':idList', implode(',', $idArray)); Is that possible?

  Hi - I am searching for an XSLT or command-line tool (or C# code that can be made into a command-line tool, etc) for Windows that will do XML pretty-printing. Specifically, I want one that has the ability to put attributes one-to-a-line, something like: <Node> <ChildNode value1='5' value2='6' value3='happy' /> </Node> It doesn't have to be EXACTLY like that, but I want to use it for an XML file that has nodes with dozens of attributes and spreading them across multiple lines makes them easier to read, edit, and text-diff. NOTE: I think my preferred solution is an XSLT sheet I can pass through a C# method, though a Windows command-line tool is good too.

  I want to select and group the products, and rank them by the number of times they occur. For example, I have an OrderList each of order object has a OrderProductVariantList(OrderLineList), and each of OrderProductVariant object has ProductVariant, and then the ProductVariant object will have a Product object which contains product information. A friend helped me with the following code. It could be compiled, but it did not return any value/result.   Hi, Running the following vbscript to call svnadmin dump fails (i.e. no dump is being created) Set objShell = CreateObject("WScript.Shell") Set objShellExec = objShell.Exec("svnadmin dump C:\svn_repos > C:\fullbackup") I discovered from another post, http://stackoverflow.com/questions/445121/svn-dump-fails-with-wscript-shell/2400011#2400011 that i had to create a new command interpreter using cmd as follows: Set objShellExec = objShell.Exec("%comspec% /c" & "svnadmin dump C:\svn_repos > C:\fullbackup") This successfully created the dump but I could never read the output information (i.e. * Dumped revision 100. * Dumped revision 101. etc). I tried Do While objWshScriptExec.Status = 0 Wscript.Echo objShellExec.StdOut.Readline Wscript.Echo objShellExec.StdErr.Readline WScript.Sleep 100 Loop but nothing ever gets displayed.   What is the SQLite query to detect if the FTS3 extension module is installed? Or is it possible to get a list of installed extensions with an SQLite3 query? It has to work with pysqlite2. I know that I can get the list of tables using SELECT * FROM sqlite_master, I'd like to get something similar for the list of extensions. I also know that CREATE VIRTUAL TABLE v USING FTS3 (t TEXT) succeeds iff FTS3 is installed, but I'd like to get a query without side effects (not even creating a temporary table).

  On Ubuntu I compiled sbcl 1.0.35 with threading. I can happily use sbcl from the command line and my hunchentoot website works with threading but when I logout it's gone. When I attempt to nohup sbcl nohup ./src/runtime/sbcl --core output/sbcl.core I get (SB-IMPL::SIMPLE-STREAM-PERROR "couldn't read from ~S" # 9) I've attempted various combinations of redirecting the standard input to /dev/null or a file and using the script command line option but I don't quite get what is going on. How do I start sbcl from the command line on linux with nohup and keep my repl(website) running?

• Exceptions using CruiseControl.NET

  I recently updated to CC.NET 1.5 and I'm now getting some strange exceptions. On one project I get: - ThoughtWorks.CruiseControl.Core.CruiseControlException: Source control operation failed: svn: Can't create a character converter from native encoding to 'UTF-8' This happens when CC is checking a subversion repository for any mods. If I run the actual command line CC says is failing it works and returns an empty XML (there are no mods). Some other projects also fail to check mods with another "Source control operation failed" exception but no further info. Again the command is an "svn log" which when run from command line works ok. I'm using subversion 1.4.5 client side and my source repository exists on a separate box than my build server. Anyone got any ideas?

  I have a file named cmd that contains a list of unix commands as follows: hostname pwd ls /tmp cat /etc/hostname ls -la ps -ef | grep java cat cmd I have another script that executes the commands in cmd as: IFS=$'\n' clear for cmds in `cat cmd` do if [ $cmds ] ; then $cmds; echo "****************************"; fi done The problem is that commands in cmd without spaces run fine, but those with spaces are not correctly interpreted by the script. • Store value of os.system or os.popen

  Hello, I want to grep the error's out of a log file and save the value as an error. When I use: errors = os.system("cat log.txt | grep 'ERROR' | wc -l") I get the return code that the command worked or not. When I use: errors = os.popen("cat log.txt | grep 'ERROR' | wc -l") I get what the command is trying to do. When I run this in the command line I get 3 as thats how many errors there are. Can anyone suggest another way? Thanks
