• Building a specific piece of Android platform?

  Hi, I have been trying to build only the "/libcore" directory of the Android platform. • Catch database exception in Kohana

  I'm using Kohana 2. I would like to catch a database exception to prevent an error page when no connection to the server can be established. The error displayed is system/libraries/drivers/Database/Mysql.php [61]: mysql_connect() [function.mysql-connect]: Lost connection to MySQL server at 'reading initial communication packet', system error: 110 The database server is not reachable at all at this point. I'm doing this from a model. I tried both public function __construct() { // load database library into $this->db try { parent::__construct(); } catch (Exception $e) { die('Database error occured'); } } as well as try { $hoststatus = $this->db->query('SELECT x FROM y WHERE z;'); } catch (Exception $e) { die('Database error occured'); } ...but none of them seemed to work. It seems as if no exception gets passed on from the main model. Is there another way to catch the database error and use my own error handling?

  I am using Intel's FORTRAN compiler to compile a numerical library. The test case provided errors out within libc.so.6. When I attach Intel's debugger (IDB) the application runs through successfully. How do I debug a bug where the debugger prevents the bug? Note that the same bug arose with gfortran. • Static lib that links another static lib and qmake? Odd linking error

  I have two qt .pro files, both using the lib TEMPLATE and staticlib CONFIG. The first library (lets call it 'core') is a dependency for the second lib (I'll call it 'foo'). In fact, there's a class in foo that extends a class in core, I will call this class Bar. When I instantiate the class (which is defined and implemented in foo, but extends a class (Bar) from core) in another project (not a lib) I get the following linking error: /usr/bin/ld: Undefined symbols: Bar::Bar() Basically, the linker cannot find the class in the core lib that has been derived in the foo lib, but ONLY when I instantiate the class in a third project that is using both libs. Is this behaviour expected? Regards, Dan O Update: I fixed it by directly invoking the Bars constructor in the third project before using derived class... does anyone know why I need to do this?

• Making php-mode Compatible with Emacs 23

  I am using Emacs 23 and php-mode.el 1.5.0. When I have this in my .emacs: (require 'php-mode) I get this error message when Emacs starts: Warning (initialization): An error occurred while loading `/Users/kdj/.emacs': error: `c-lang-defconst' must be used in a file To ensure normal operation, you should investigate and remove the cause of the error in your initialization file. Start Emacs with the `--debug-init' option to view a complete error backtrace. If I evaluate (require 'php-mode) after Emacs starts, I don't get any error messages. I found a blog entry which indicates that this problem is specific to Emacs 23 (that is, there is no error with Emacs 22.x), but it doesn't give any solutions. Don't know if this matters, but I'm using Mac OS X, and I built Emacs from the current CVS sources, using ./configure --with-ns. Anybody know what's going on here, and/or how I can fix it?

• Launching my deployed my app gets "has stopped working" error. How do I debug this?

  I deployed a VB.Net app and ran it and I get 'AppName has stopped working" "Windows is checking for a solution to the problem" along with a Cancel button under Windows 7. Under XP I am only getting the option to Send the error report to Microsoft or not. There is no apparent way to hook into a debugger. I am not getting any exception data. I have put msgboxes at the very start of my code and they are not hit so it is failing before any of my code is even executing. I have checked all dependencies that I can think of. I developed the app on VS2008 Windows 7 and deploying to Windows 7 and WinXP. I need some advice - how do I debug this? Thanks, Brad

• .odx Files in BizTalk 2009 (VS2008 IDE) Fail to open. "Unspecified Error"

  Okay, I'm not sure if this is an SO question, or a ServerFault question, but I figured I'd post here first. I have a BizTalk project which works like a champ for its original design. It's been deployed and it's working fine. Today, I went in to add some new fuctionality by modifying one of my orchestrations. When I attempted to open it, I got a message which simply stated: "The operation could not be completed. Unspecified error." I've closed the IDE and re-opened; I've restarted the machine; I've even allowed Microsoft Updates to run and restart the machine. Everything else opens just fine (.xsd files, .btms, etc.) so it appears only to be the orchestrations which are failing. Has anyone ever encountered a similar issue and resolved it (short of reinstalling BizTalk/VS, or blowing the orchs away and rebuilding)? Any help would be appreciated.

  I have Ruby 1.9 and rails 2.3.5 installed. After creating a rails app when I run rake db:create, I get i386-mingw32 error. I have both msysgit and cygwin on my windows machine. rake db:create (in C:/mydirectory) ==== UNSUPPORTED PLATFORM ====================================================== The platform 'i386-mingw32' is unsupported.   I'm using the DataAnnotations attributes along with ASP.Net MVC 2 to provide model validation for my ViewModels: public class ExamplePersonViewModel { [Required(ErrorMessageResourceName = "Required", ErrorMessageResourceType = typeof(Resources.Validation))] [StringLength(128, ErrorMessageResourceName = "StringLength", ErrorMessageResourceType = typeof(Resources.Validation))] [DataType(DataType.Text)] public string Name { get; set; } [Required(ErrorMessageResourceName = "Required", ErrorMessageResourceType = typeof(Resources.Validation))] [DataType(DataType.Text)] public int Age { get; set; } } This seems to work as expected (although it's very verbose). The problem I have is that there are behind-the-scenes model validations being performed that are not tied to any specific attribute. An example of this in the above model is that the Age property needs to be an int. If you try to enter a non-integer value on the form, it will error with the following (non-localized) message: The field Age must be a number. How can these non-attribute validation messages be localized? Is there a full list of these messages available so I can make sure they are all localized?

• How to generate a compiler error based on an attribute being missing in C#?

  I create a number of add-ins for the Revit Structure API. Each tool has to habe a class which implements the interface IExternalCommand. In the latest version of Revit, for your tool to work you need to have two attributes on the class that implements that interface: [Regeneration(RegenerationOption.Manual)] [Transaction(TransactionMode.Automatic)] The values in brackets can change, but there must be something there. Often I am finding myself forgetting to put the attributes on, then when it comes to runtime it crashes. Is there any way in Visual Studio 2010 to add a compiler warning or error saying that if your class implements that interface it must have those 2 attributes? I have resharper if that helps. Can anyone point me into the right direction?

• Publish failed using Ant publisher (Eclipse/datanucleus).

  Dear All, I am being driven mad the following (apparently hard) error from eclipse. Publish failed using Ant publisher Resource is out of sync with the file system: '/MyServlet/build/classes/com/inver/hotzones/database/BaseNetworkData.class'. I have seen comments on similar errors where refreshing eclipses view of the project helps but it is not helping me. Have tried cleaning the project, removing it from the webserver, deleting war files but cant seem to clear it. I have reset my TMPDIR variable so that it uses a directory on the same filesystem as that appeared to be another possible cause. The error occurs on classes which have been enhanced by datanuculeus. I have auto-enhance on the project. The other references to this problem indicate that it is due to Eclipses view of the project being out of step with the filesystem, and I am guessing that this has something to do with thedata nucleus enhancement. • C++ Project compiles as static lib, fails (linker error) as dynamic lib. why??

  Hi All. I've a VS2008 native C++ project, that I wish to compile as a DLL. It only references one external library (log4cplus.lib), and uses its functions. (also uses log4cplus's .h files , naturally). When I try to compile my project as a static library, it succeeeds. When I try as DLL, it fails : 1>MessageWriter.obj : error LNK2019: unresolved external symbol "public: static class log4cplus::Logger __cdecl log4cplus::Logger::getInstance(class std::basic_string<wchar_t,struct std::char_traits<wchar_t>,class std::allocator<wchar_t> > const &)" (?getInstance@Logger@log4cplus@@SA?AV12@ABV?$basic_string@_WU?$char_traits@_W@std@@V?$allocator@_W@2@@std@@@Z) referenced in function "class log4cplus::Logger __cdecl Log(void)" (?Log@@YA?AVLogger@log4cplus@@XZ) There are 4 more errors just like this related to functions within log4cplus.lib.   This is the error Dependency Walker gives me on an executable that I am building with VC++ 2005 Express Edition. When trying to run the .exe, I get: This application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem. (I am new to the manifest/SxS/etc. way of doing things post VC++ 2003.) EDIT: I am running on the same machine I am building the .exe with. In Event Viewer, I have the unhelpful: Faulting application blah.exe, version 0.0.0.0, faulting module blah.exe, version 0.0.0.0, fault address 0x004239b0.

• Why Am I Getting MySQL Error #1312 when Using a Simple Stored Procedure?

  Hi, I'm trying to learn how to use MySQL stored procedures. MySQL accepted my procedure: CREATE PROCEDURE SimpleProc() BEGIN SELECT * FROM myTable; END (In phpMyAdmin, I set // for delimiter. The real version has the name of an actual table instead of myTable.). But, when I call the procedure with CALL SimpleProc();, I get error "#1312 - PROCEDURE mydb.SimpleProc can't return a result set in the given context". I read that some versions of php or phpMyAdmin won't work with stored procedures. I'm using a localhost running on a Mac with MAMP 1.9. I've got MySQL 5.1.44, PHP 5.2.13 & 5.3.2, phpMyAdmin 3.2.5. Does anyone know if stored procedures will work with my set-up? Am I doing something incorrectly? Any advice? Shout out to the Big Red for a triple overtime victory in Lax. Thanks, Laxmidi

• Tomcat fails on first request in combination with jsvc

  I have a web application where the first request may take a few seconds as some singletons are initialised. I've used the mod_proxy and jsvc construction mentioned in this question and described on this page to connect apache with tomcat (data is served via SSL) For the sample Tomcat application, everything works as it should.   Hi guys, I can't seem to figure this out. I setup my email address in cruisecontrol.rb but no matter how I set it, it always gives me this error. Current settings are: project/cruise_config.rb: project.email_notifier.emails = ['[email protected]'] project.email_notifier.from = '[email protected]' site_config.rb: ActionMailer::Base.smtp_settings = { :address => "localhost", :domain => "myemail.com", } I've even tried ActionMailer::Base.delivery_method = :sendmail Configuration.email_from = '[email protected]' Any thoughts as to why my cruisecontrol can't send an e-mail? • Why does GANTracker outputs an error "GANTracker.m" not found?

  Hi, I have used the Google Analytics Tracker in a previous iPhone OS project. Everything was working fine and I copy & pasted the GANTracker Library and the Tracker initialization. When starting my new project it tells me: Xcode could not locate source file: GANTracker.m (line: 177) To tell the truth, I don't know where to start to debug this one. I have included the library using #import "GANTracker.h". The error message occurs right within the application didFinishLaunchingWithOptions and does not seem to have any connection to what is really going on. If I set the breakpoint to [window makeKeyAndVisible]; for example and wait a second, it occurs right after that. That makes it look like there is something in the background going on with the GANTracker. • [ASP.NET] Problems with error: "Access to the path <path> is denied."

  Hi, I was looking for the the trick to resolve that error (google, stackoverflow.com etc) and every nothing works. I need to dinamically create an .aspx file via the asp.net application. What I've done to try fix it: 1) In the folder's Properties - Security, I've added IUSR_TONY and also IIS_IUSRS and allow them the Full control to the folder. Just to check if that will help. Nope, it won't. 2) in the IIS Manager, I tried to change the Application's Pool Defaults Identity (based on that) I checked all options, with no success I don't know what to do more to fix it. Any ideas ?

I configured settings.xml correctly (i guess so...) true http username password 12.34.56.78 8080 But still I am error message like... if i dont configure userid/password gets correct error message which is HTTP response code 407 - saying authentication required. But If I configure correct/incorrect proxy authentication it always prints below error message.... • VS 2010 Class Diagram Error "The type cannot be edited..."

  A few of the classes on a VS 2010 class diagram are displayed with a red title. The Class Details window shows all of the methods, properties, fields and correctly shows no events. However, there's an entry under each of methods, properties, fields and events that states where the name should be: "The type cannot be edited because the source code file contains an error." However, the source file builds with no errors or warnings. Anyone seen this? Any idea how to fix it?
