  What is the best erlang library for processing http requests and responses from within an erlang application? I have taken a look at inets but as a standalone application, it seems more like a replacement for curl. I would like to access external APIs from within the erlang application so would need to parse responses and be able to make subsequent requests with cookies generated from the response.

• Multiple login locations for an online app.

  Hello, I am working on a browser based application that will have many users. The catch is that every user should have their own customized login page, but the actual application is the same for everyone, and needs to be in a central location. What is the most secure way of doing this? Would it make more sense to have a copy of the application for each user, and keep the database centralized? • Java Can't Find File when Running through Eclipse

  When I run a Java application that should be reading from a file in Eclipse, I get a java.io.FileNotFoundException, even though the file is in the correct directory. I can compile and run the application from the command line just fine; the problem only occurs in Eclipse, with more than one project and application. Is there a setting I need to change in the run configurations or build paths to get it to find the file correctly?

  I am working on a PPC2003 application. The devices on which the application has to run have a modem and VPN connection set. I want to automatically dial the system default "work" connection, which is the VPN one, which dial the modem one first. The user has another application who does automatically make the system dial the default connection. But I can't undertand how to do it from my Compact .NET application. I tried using OpenNETCF net package, but I could not make it work.

• Can't use Visual Studio 2008 Designer with MVVMLight V3 SP1

  I wish I knew what I did to cause this, but I cannot use the Visual Studio 2008 Designer at all with with MVVMLight templates. I receive a "Could not create an instance of type 'ViewModelLocator'. in any of my xaml pages. The application builds and runs fine but only the designer is broken. In the App.xaml is <Application x:Class="ExcelReportGenerator.App" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml" xmlns:d="http://schemas.microsoft.com/expression/blend/2008" xmlns:mc="http://schemas.openxmlformats.org/markup-compatibility/2006" xmlns:vm="clr-namespace:ExcelReportGenerator.ViewModel" xmlns:res="clr-namespace:ExcelReportGenerator.Resources" Startup="Application_Startup" mc:Ignorable="d"> <Application.Resources> <!--Global View Model Locator--> <vm:ViewModelLocator x:Key="Locator" d:IsDataSource="True" /> </Application.Resources> I even receive the error when I create a brand new MVVMLight application. The interesting thing is if I use an express version of VS2010 I can view, edit and work in designer just fine. As much as I would love to go to VS2010, I can't right now convince IT to make that move.

  How does one control the application recycle settings for an ASP.NET application runnin on mod_mono & Apache ? On IIS6 & 7 there was an option to specify either a time period, a number of requests, etc. when the AppDomain would be recycled and the application would basically do an Application_End() / Application_Start(). I am seeing the same behaviour on mod_mono & Apache ,but I can't find where to change the settings.

• Separation of static and dynamic content in Java EE applications

  We work with IBM products and we typically use IBM Http Servers (read Apache) as a reverse proxy for our application servers. For performance reasons we serve static content (.gif, .jpg, .css, .html etc.) from our http servers, to ease the burden a bit from the application server. So far, we have to distribute files to http server and configure it manually (writing custom scripts at best.) The problem is the effort needed to keep everything in synch, especially when you need to update the app. Does any Java EE product support this “out of the box”? Is there a way to have application server do this automatically, like in cluster configuration for example, where master node is in charge of distributing the application to other nodes and for keeping everything in synch.

• Objective-C / Cocoa: Uploading Images, Working Memory, And Storage.

  Hello. I'm in the process of porting an application originally in java to cocoa, but I'm rewriting it to make it much better, since I prefer cocoa a lot anyway. One of the problems I had in the application, was that when you uploaded images to it, I had the images created, (as say an NSImage object) and then I just had them sitting in memory, the more I uploaded the more memory they took up, and I ended up running out of memory. My question is this: if I am going to have users upload images to this application in cocoa, how should I go about storing them? I don't just want to copy the file paths, because I want what is saved to contain the images, etc. Is there any way to upload an image and copy it into a different place only for my application? Then load that image with the new path name as needed? Only I would like it all to be consolidated. I'm going to implement saving by archiving one "master" object into an NSData*- so I'd like the images to be saved with that. Is there a temporary location maybe where I could write the images to disk for my application, and then when I saved, they would all be archived into a single file? Also, how do I do this? Thanks.

  I am not starting an argumentative discussion here and this post is not about career development, but from the commercial point of view: If a company was using ASP.Net MVC as a main methodology to build their web sites and application. However, ASP.Net MVC takes more time to show a functional application than ASP.Net Web Forms, for example, building domain models would take some time which obviously can't be represented on a UI at that current stage. My question is, if a client wants to see a functional demo application (just a proof of concept) so he knows that the company he is dealing with is professional and capable of doing that. Would it be better to do that demo in ASP.Net Web Forms only to show the client, and then work on the real application using ASP.Net MVC? If not, what are the (quick) alternatives?, I mean, if we tell the client to wait till we have a working demo (by ASP.Net MVC) we may lose the client and the whole project opportunity.

Need to know whether this application caused any memory leak. i.e used up some heap memory and not cleared it properly. Can I get this statistics some how?   Does anyone know what will happen with existing apps when they run on the iPhone 4.0 in terms of the new screen resolution? I am assuming, just like developing for the iPad that there should be no hard coded screen resolutions in your code. I'd also like advice on the best way of writing robust code to work well on any device. For instance, detecting the screen resolution is not enough - on the iPad the screen is physically bigger so you can display more items on it. On the new iPhone the screen is the same physical size but higher resolution, so the likely thing is that you wont want to display more items, just higher resolution versions of them. Any help would be useful, Regards Dave EDIT: I have read the other similar posts, I guess what I really would like to know is what is the recommended way to write code for all App Store devices in a robust way so they a) all work b) make best use of the device.

  when inserting an USB-Flash drive, Windows normally opens the Autoplay dialog that offers to browse the drive or if there are multimedia files it offers to choose an app to open them. We developed a media player that is connected to the USB-Drive and registers itself as Mass Storage Device. What I need is, that when inserting the Player that this Dialog is not shown, but instead my own application is launched. Ideally the application would be on the Flash Drive itself, but as I understood is that Autorun is disabled for USB-Drives. It would be enough if a preinstalled application is launched. I already tried to catch the WM_DRIVE_CHANGE message, but this only works if my application is the top most window, otherwise the Autoplay Dialog is displayed. Best Tom

  I have been using rails for developing web applications and now i need to do design an api for iphone application and since i used respond to json it also produces json but i use devise for authentication in my web application and when i send email and password along with the api it gives out {"user":{"authentication_token":"Lsusyd27ewgasga63","email":"[email protected]"}} and there is forgot password functionality in the iphone app but in the web application when clicking on forgot password button it sends an email to the users email, whereby the user has to go to his mail and click on the link sent and it will take to the change password path and after changing it the user will be login but in this iphone app i want to send the password to the user mail and the user can use that password and login. How can i do this? Also do i have to create new controllers for api or the web application controller is enough if it respond as json? please help me.

  I have built an application which uses user executable through WScript com object. Now the main program is located in C:\Program files\Myapp Curl executable is located in C:\Curl But it looks like my application is unable to execute curl if main application is in Program files. If i move it to another location it can execute curl nicely. Problem occurs only on Windows Xp on Vista and Win7 it works perfectly. Is there any special permissions i have to give to my app or what?

Why is it so .   Hi, There seemes to be a consistent problem with the following situation: Say you have a VS2008 solution, consisting of a (say console) application written in vb.net, and a class library written in c#. The application references the class library project. This, of course, complies and works well. However, when you right-click (in the vb.net application code) a function prototype/object type defined in the class library, and select "Go to definition", the object browser opens providing you with the the list of methods available for the class the class library consists of. BAD. However, if you try to do the same when both the application and cl are in c#, this works just fine and you navigate driectly to the relevant function/class.GOOD. Known issue? Solvable?

  Hi I am using coldfusion to call the last.fm api, using a cfc bundle sourced from here I am concerned about going over the request limit, which is 5 requests per originating IP address per second, averaged over a 5 minute period.   In an Adobe Air AJAX application with multiple windows running on a system with multiple (three or more) monitors, can you maximize the windows in each monitor? I've seen posts by others trying to do this, but I've not seen anyone saying how it worked out. I basically need to build a 'status monitor' system (similar to, say, an airport departures monitor) in which there are public-facing displays that need to look and feel like single-purpose, embedded applications -- no window chrome and no visible desktop. I don't think this should be any different from any other windows application, but I don't know about Air. I have a dual-monitor Mac setup right now, but I can't easily test Windows and I likely will never be able to test three monitors at once. This application will be run as an AJAX Air application written in Aptana (or DW if it makes a difference).
