  So I've been working on updating old extensions for use with FF4 and Gecko 2 but I am having some issues where I am getting an error that says, classID missing or incorrect for component.... I'm pretty sure that nothing else is using the same GUID so I don't see the problem.

• Good resources for building web-app in Tapestry

  Hi, I'm currently researching into Tapestry for my company and trying to decide if I think we can port our pre-existing proprietary web applications to something better. Currently we are running Tomcat and using JSP for our front end backed by our own framework that eventually uses JDBC to connect to an Oracle database. I've gone through the Tapestry tutorial, which was really neat and got me interested, but now I'm faced with what seems to be a common issue of documentation. There are a lot of things I'd need to be sure that I could accomplish with Tapestry before I'd be ready to commit fully to it. Does anyone have any good resources, be it a book or web article or anything else, that go into more detail beyond what the Tapestry tutorial explains? I am also considering integrating with Hibernate, and have read a little bit about Spring too. I'm still having a hard time understanding how Spring would be more useful than cumbersome in tandem with Tapestry,as they seem to have a lot of overlapping features. An example I read seemed to use Spring to interface with Hibernate, and then Tapestry to Spring, but I was under the impression Tapestry integrates to the same degree with Hibernate. The resource I'm speaking of is http://wiki.apache.org/tapestry/Tapstry5First_project_with_Tapestry5,_Spring_and_Hibernate . I was interested because I hadn't found information anywhere else on how to maintain user levels and sessions through a Tapestry application before, but wasn't exactly impressed by the need to use Spring in the example.

• Trying to compile x264 and ffmpeg for iPhone - "missing required architecture arm in file"

  I'm trying to compile x264 for use in an iPhone application. I see there are instructions on how to compile ffmpeg for use on the platform here: http://lists.mplayerhq.hu/pipermail/ffmpeg-devel/2009-October/076618.html , but I can't seem to find anything this complete for compiling x264 on the iPhone. I've found this source tree: http://gitorious.org/x264-arm that seems to have support for the ARM platform. Here is my config line: ./configure --cross-prefix=/usr/bin/ --host=arm-apple-darwin10 --extra-cflags="-B /Developer/Platforms/iPhoneOS.platform/Developer/SDKs/iPhoneOS3.2.sdk/usr/lib/ -I /Developer/Platforms/iPhoneOS.platform/Developer/SDKs/iPhoneOS3.2.sdk/usr/lib/" ...and inside configure I'm using the gas-preprocessor script (first link above) as my assembler: gas-preprocessor.pl gcc When I start compiling, it chunks away for a little while, then it spits out these warnings and a huge list of undefined symbols: ld: warning: option -s is obsolete and being ignored ld: warning: -force_cpusubtype_ALL will become unsupported for ARM architectures ld: warning: in /usr/lib/crt1.o, missing required architecture arm in file ld: warning: in /usr/X11R6/lib/libX11.dylib, missing required architecture arm in file ld: warning: in /usr/lib/libm.dylib, missing required architecture arm in file ld: warning: in /usr/lib/libpthread.dylib, missing required architecture arm in file ld: warning: in /usr/lib/libgcc_s.1.dylib, missing required architecture arm in file ld: warning: in /usr/lib/libSystem.dylib, missing required architecture arm in file Undefined symbols: My guess would be that the problem has to do with the "missing required architecture arm in file" warning...any ideas?

  Although I have seen dozens of forum questions relating to "Could not load type", none of the advice in them seemed to apply to my situation. I wrote a new web application using aspx.net VB 2005. It is tiny, with just 2 pages, 1 of which has no code-behind. It runs aok in the IDE but when I installed it on my pc (and also when installed on the production server), and tried to run it this error came up: Parser Error Description: An error occurred during the parsing of a resource required to service this request.   Hi all, I have my JAVA_HOME set to C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jdk1.6.0_18 After I run maven install I get this message from eclipse: Reason: Unable to locate the Javac Compiler in: C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre6\..\lib\tools.jar Please ensure you are using JDK 1.4 or above and not a JRE (the com.sun.tools.javac.Main class is required). In most cases you can change the location of your Java installation by setting the JAVA_HOME environment variable.   I wanted to learn how to create python packages, so I visited http://docs.python.org/distutils/index.html. For this exercise I'm using Python 2.6.2 on Windows XP. I followed along with the simple example and created a small test project: person/ setup.py person/ __init__.py person.py My person.py file is simple: class Person(object): def __init__(self, name="", age=0): self.name = name self.age = age def sound_off(self): print "%s %d" % (self.name, self.age) And my setup.py file is: from distutils.core import setup setup(name='person', version='0.1', packages=['person'], ) I ran python setup.py sdist and it created MANIFEST, dist/ and build/. Next I ran python setup.py install and it installed it to my site packages directory. I run the python console and can import the person module, but I cannot import the Person class. >>>import person >>>from person import Person Traceback (most recent call last): File "<stdin>", line 1, in <module> ImportError: cannot import name Person I checked the files added to site-packages and checked the sys.path in the console, they seem ok. Why can't I import the Person class. Where did I go wrong?

• Writing Russian in XML

  Hi, I am writing a Xml Tag Renamer class with Java which reads in a XML, renames the tags and write them back into another XML file using DocumentBuilderFactory and TransformerFactory (text nodes are preserved). It worked fine before with German and English texts, until today, when I tried to rename a XML file with russian text. Instead of the source texts I got ????? in the newly created XML file. I've tried setting Encoding Any idea how to correct this? Thanks! PS. Strings were correct before entering TransformerFactory, as I checked in the debugger. I've tried setting OutputKeys.ENCODING to UTF-8 and ISO-8859-5. None of them helped.   Hey all, I am trying to doing some sql querys out of Oracle 11g and am having issues using ora:contains. I am using spring's jdbc impl and my code generates the sql statement: select * from view_name where column_a = ? and column_b = ? and existsNode(xmltype(clob_column), 'record/name [ora:contains(text(), "name1") 0]', 'xmlns:ora="http://xmlns.oralce.com/xdb"') = 1 I have removed the actual view / column names obviously, but when I copy that into sqlplus and substitute in random values, the select executes properly. When I try to run it in my DAO code I get this stack trace: org.springframework.jdbc.UncatergorizedSQLException: PreparedStatementCallback; uncatergorizedSQLException for SQL [the big select above]; SQL state [99999]; error code [31011]; ORA-31011: XML parsing failed. ORA-19202: Error occured in XML processing LPX-00607: Invalid reference: 'contains' ;nested exception is java.sql.SQLException: ORA-31011: XML parsing failed ORA-19202: Error occured in XML processing LPX-00607: Invalid reference: 'contains' (continues on like this for awhile....) I think it is worth mentioning that I am using maven and it is possible I am missing some dependency that is required for this. When adding one more byte 0x18 to the array, the exception raised: InvalidKeyException: Key length not 128/192/256 bits. But the original 18 bytes (from 0 to 17) are not multiple of nither 128, 192 or 256. I would like to understand the math here.. can anyone explain me? Thanks!

  I'm having some trouble running a groovy servlet (groovlet) in tomcat that imports a library class. When I don't import anything the groovlet works correctly, but if I do import something that I expect to be on the classpath (I can import the same class successfully in a regular servlet), I see the following error: groovy.util.ScriptException: Could not parse scriptName: /MyGroovlet.groovy java.lang.RuntimeException: groovy.util.ScriptException: Could not parse scriptName: /MyGroovlet.groovy at groovy.servlet.GroovyServlet$1.call(GroovyServlet.java:123) ... Caused by: org.codehaus.groovy.control.MultipleCompilationErrorsException: startup failed, /MyGroovlet.groovy: 1: unable to resolve class com.mycompany.mypackage.MyLibraryClass @ line 1, column 1. The jar containing MyLibraryClass is in shared/lib, which is loaded by tomcat by the following in catalina.properties: shared.loader=...,${catalina.base}/shared/lib/*.jar,...   I have been using this as a reference, but not able to accomplish exactly what I need: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/89228/how-to-call-external-command-in-python/92395#92395 I also was reading this: http://www.python.org/dev/peps/pep-3145/ For our project, we have 5 svn checkouts that need to update before we can deploy our application. In my dev environment, where speedy deployments are a bit more important for productivity than a production deployment, I have been working on speeding up the process. I have a bash script that has been working decently but has some limitations. I fire up multiple 'svn updates' with the following bash command: (svn update /repo1) & (svn update /repo2) & (svn update /repo3) & These all run in parallel and it works pretty well. I also use this pattern in the rest of the build script for firing off each ant build, then moving the wars to Tomcat. However, I have no control over stopping deployment if one of the updates or a build fails. I'm re-writing my bash script with Python so I have more control over branches and the deployment process. I am using subprocess.call() to fire off the 'svn update /repo' commands, but each one is acting sequentially. I try '(svn update /repo) &' and those all fire off, but the result code returns immediately. So I have no way to determine if a particular command fails or not in the asynchronous mode. import subprocess subprocess.call( 'svn update /repo1', shell=True ) subprocess.call( 'svn update /repo2', shell=True ) subprocess.call( 'svn update /repo3', shell=True ) I'd love to find a way to have Python fire off each Unix command, and if any of the calls fails at any time the entire script stops.

• passing hashes to a subroutine

  In one of my main( or primary) routines,I have two or more hashes. I want the subroutine foo() to recieve these possibly-multiple hashes as distinct hashes. Right now I have no preference if they go by value, or as references. I am struggling with this for the last many hours and would appreciate help, so that I dont have to leave perl for php!   I'm having trouble with a WebView always filling the full screen and thus covering my tabs. • JVM/CLR Source-compatible Language Options

  I have an open source Java database migration tool (http://www.liquibase.org) which I am considering porting to .Net. The majority of the tool (at least from a complexity side) is around logic like "if you are adding a primary key and the database is Oracle use this SQL. If database is MySQL use this SQL. If the primary key is named and the database is Postgres use this SQL". I could fork the Java codebase and covert it (manually and/or automatically), but as updates and bug fixes to the above logic come in I do not want to have to apply it to both versions. What I would like to do is move all that logic into a form that can be compiled and used by both Java and .Net versions naively. The code I am looking to convert does not contain any advanced library usage (JDBC, System.out, etc) that would vary significantly from Java to .Net, so I don't think that will be an issue (at worst it can be designed around). So what I am looking for is: A language in which I can code common parts of my app in and compile it into classes usable by the "standard" languages on the target platform Does not add any runtime requirements to the system Nothing so strange that it scares away potential contributors I know Python and Ruby both have implementations on for the JVM and CLR. How well do they fit my requirements? Has anyone been successful (or unsuccesful) using this technique for cross-platform applications? Are there any gotcha's I need to worry about?

I'm using the Pkcs11 implementation of OpenSc http://www.opensc-project.org/opensc File windows.cnf = name=dnie library=C:\WINDOWS\system32\opensc-pkcs11.dll Java Code = String configName = "windows.cnf" String PIN = "####"; Provider p = new sun.security.pkcs11.SunPKCS11(configName); Security.addProvider(p); KeyStore keyStore = KeyStore.getInstance("PKCS11", "SunPKCS11-dnie"); =)(= char[] pin = PIN.toCharArray(); keyStore.load(null, pin); When the execution goes by the line with =)(= throws me the following exeption java.security.KeyStoreException: PKCS11 not found at java.security.KeyStore.getInstance(KeyStore.java:635) at ObtenerDatos.LeerDatos(ObtenerDatos.java:52) at ObtenerDatos.obtenerNombre(ObtenerDatos.java:19) at main.main(main.java:27) Caused by: java.security.NoSuchAlgorithmException: no such algorithm: PKCS11 for provider SunPKCS11-dnie at sun.security.jca.GetInstance.getService(GetInstance.java:70) at sun.security.jca.GetInstance.getInstance(GetInstance.java:190) at java.security.Security.getImpl(Security.java:662) at java.security.KeyStore.getInstance(KeyStore.java:632) I think the problem is "SunPKCS11-dnie", but I don't know to put there. • Call Init from XUL after Page Loads (Firefox add-on)

  Hi all, I've been working on some code in js/html and it works great. I'm now trying to package it into an add-on for Firefox, and having some issues getting the XUL document correct. PLAIN OLD HTML/JS In my html test file between the <head></head> I have: <script type="text/javascript" src="js/MyCode.js"></script> At the end of the test file before the </body> I have: <script type="text/javascript">MyCode.Static.Init();</script> FIREFOX ADD-ON: OVERLAY.XUL In an overlay.xul file in the extension package I have : <?xml version="1.0"?> <overlay id="mycode" xmlns="http://www.mozilla.org/keymaster/gatekeeper/there.is.only.xul"> <script type="application/x-javascript" src="chrome://mycode/content/MyCode.js"></script> <script> window.addEventListener("load", function () { gBrowser.addEventListener("load",MyCode.Static.Init,true); }, false); </script> </overlay> This does not seem to enter the method, but then again I'm not even sure if I've got the listeners firing properly. Would this be the correct way to duplicate what I was doing in plain old html/js ?

• iphone: problem playing youtube mp4's over 3g network

  Hi guys I'm am developing an app that enables the user to stream youtube mp4 videos on the iphone. What I did was very simple - I just took a url of the form http://youtube.com/get_video?*&fmt=18 (for example http://youtube.com/get_video?video_id=KUXGVfmrEN4&&t=vjVQa1PpcFNrxzfbeI6WrJfK6s0BdQ9ypMgV_6yqwjo=&fmt=18) and used mpmovieplayercontroller or UIWebView to stream the video. It works great over WIFI but doesn't work at all on 3g network . On 3g I get a blank page in the UIWebView or file format not supported on mpmovieplayercontroller. Does youtube block access from 3g networks to its mp4 videos? How to bypass this? You can check this easily yourself on your own iphone by preforming the following steps: 1. Obtain the download link. You can do this easily by downloading the following plugin for firefox: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/13990. 2. Email the link to your email. 3. Open your mail on the iphone and click on the link. Try this on WIFI and 3g.

I tried unitils.org , but cannot find a sample like this , it just directly inject the EntityManagerFactory to the TestCast , not what I want ...

• Activate a python virtual environment using activate_this.py in a fabfile on Windows

  I have a Fabric task that needs to access the settings of my Django project. On Windows, I'm unable to install Fabric into the project's virtualenv (issues with Paramiko + pycrypto deps). However, I am able to install Fabric in my system-wide site-packages, no problem. I have installed Django into the project's virtualenv and I am able to use all the " python manage.py" commands easily when I activate the virtualenv with the "VIRTUALENV\Scripts\activate.bat" script. I have a fabric tasks file (fabfile.py) in my project that provides tasks for setup, test, deploy, etc. Some of the tasks in my fabfile need to access the settings of my django project through "from django.conf import settings". Since the only usable Fabric install I have is in my system-wide site-packages, I need to activate the virtualenv within my fabfile so django becomes available. To do this, I use the "activate_this" module of the project's virtualenv in order to have access to the project settings and such. Using "print sys.path" before and after I execute activate_this.py, I can tell the python path changes to point to the virtualenv for the project. However, I still cannot import django.conf.settings. I have been able to successfully do this on *nix (Ubuntu and CentOS) and in Cygwin. Do you use this setup/workflow on Windows? If so Can you help me figure out why this wont work on Windows or provide any tips and tricks to get around this issue? Thanks and Cheers. • Java: Handling cookies when logging in with POST

  I'm having quite some trouble logging in to any site in Java. I'm using the default URLconnection POST request, but I'm unsure how to handle the cookies properly. I tried this guide: http://www.hccp.org/java-net-cookie-how-to.html But couldn't get it working. I've been trying basically for days now, and I really need help if anyone wants to help me. I'll probably be told that it's messy and that I should use a custom library meant for this stuff. I tried downloading one, but wasn't sure how to get it set up and working. I've been trying various things for hours now, and it just won't work. I'd rather do this with a standard URLconnection, but if anyone can help me get another library working that's better for this, that would be great, too. I would really appreciate if someone could post a working source that I could study. What I need is: POST login data to site - Get and store the cookie from the site - use cookie with next URLconnection requests to get logged-in version of the site. Can anyone help me with this? • Android Custom Dialog NullPointerException

  I cannot for the life of me figure out why I'm getting a NullPointerException. When a user clicks on a particular image, a dialog window is supposed to pop-up and display a larger version of said image: private OnClickListener coverListener = new OnClickListener() { public void onClick(View v) { showDialog(DIALOG_COVER); } }; DIALOG_COVER is set to = 0. However when I create a virtual folder to host and launch this web service (still located in the same machine with SP2007), I got the following error when invoking ShowSPMyList() method, at the line to execute OpenWeb(). These are the details of the error: System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: Cannot open database "WSS_Content_8887ac57951146a290ca134778ddc3f8" requested by the login. The login failed. Login failed for user 'NT AUTHORITY\NETWORK SERVICE'. Does anyone have any idea why this error happens? Why does the web service run fine inside Visual Studio 2008, but not when running stand-alone? I checked and in both cases, the username variable has the same value (domain\myusername). Thank you very much.
