  • Asp.Net - Can a LinkButton.CommandArgument be typed?

    Okay so given a LinkButton inside a the ItemTemplate of a Repeater declared like this - <asp:LinkButton ID="restrictionDelete" runat="server" CssClass="restrictionDelete" Text="Delete..." OnCommand="lnkDeleteRestriction_Command" CommandName="Delete" CommandArgument="<%# Container.DataItem %>"></asp:LinkButton> Now,..the repeater is being bound to a list of Restriction objects so when the lnkDeleteRestriction_Command is fired I'm expecting that I can cast the CommandEventArgs.CommandArgument which is an object to my Restriction type. This doesn't seem to be so,..I just get the fully qualified type name as a string. Can I receive a typed command argument at all and if not, why is it an object? Thanks in advance,

  • ASP.NET Template Selector/Builder - Dynamic CMS

    I am currently building my own CMS for various reasons that could take a long to explain... However i am looking for a dynamic solution to create templates for pages within the CMS and all areas must be editable via the administration area, maybe large text areas broken into multiple areas, text and image area on a page etc. Following on from the above i would like to create the following: Create a new page (selecting a pre-defined template like below) http://img525.imageshack.us/img525/9872/nestedpages.png and then upon editing the page it would have created as many text editors required for each editable region or a file upload control for an image area for example. i am thinking of using nested masterpages for the design elements, just unsure the best-practice way to achieve the above (db structure etc) I somehow hope this provides enough information but are happy to answer any questions you may have.     my application builds a pdf with images in the solution explorer i added a folder called pics and dropped all the images there when i run the program from my computer, there are no problems, but when i had a different user install the application they get this error: here's how i am including the image: Dim jpeg2 As Image = Image.GetInstance(Application.StartupPath & "\pics\1.jpg") i am using the itextsharp library why is the user having this problem?

    I have created a UserSiteBaseController that gets commonly used data and sets the data to a UserSiteBaseViewData viewmodel in a method called SetViewData public T CreateViewData<T>() where T : UserSiteBaseViewData, new() { .... } I then create specific Controllers that inherit from the UserSiteBaseController as well as viewModels that inherit from UserSiteHomeViewData and can be created in the controller like so: public ActionResult Index(string slug) { Slug = slug; var viewData = CreateUserSiteHomeViewData<UserSiteHomeViewData>(); //If invalid slug - throw 404 not found if (viewData == null) return PageNotFound(); viewData.Announcements = _announcementsData.All(slug).ToList(); return View(viewData); } private T CreateUserSiteHomeViewData<T>() where T : UserSiteHomeViewData, new() { T viewData = CreateViewData<T>(); return viewData; } The UserBaseViewData holds data that needs to be use on every page so it would be great to be able to access this data from the Masterpage in a strongly typed manner. Is this possible or am I going about this in the incorrect manner?

But my problem is , the template column is showing data only for the first record and the value taken is from the last row in the DataTable. For Ex: If I give data as given below, I can see 3 records but with only the first record displaying the counter with last value(10/10/2010 05:43 PM). 02/02/2011 01:00 AM 08/09/2010 11:00 PM 10/10/2010 05:43 PM Could you please help in this??   • Error messages in ASP.NET with jQuery UI

    I've been using my own Error reporting module which was combination of simple c# and jQueryUI Dialog. Problem is that once error or success occurs i do write it's value to session. It does work pretty good on pages with Responce.Redirect on error but not on pages where i catch an error and then return to same form. My question is why does session which added pre-postback fails to load in pages where i have return statement on some condition. And if there another way to save errors and success message except in session ? Maybe global variables or something like that ...

    I have a view where user can enter some data. But problem is this: Let's say you have 3 text box on view. Every time user can fill multiple times this 3 text boxes. To clarify, let's say user fills this 3 text boxes and press button which adds on form again these 3 text boxes. Now when user clicks submit this form is sent to controller, but how do I sent List of models as parameter. My architecture for this problem is something like this: MyModel public int ID { get;set; } public string Something { get; set; } /*This three textboxes can user set multiple times*/ /*Perhaps i Can create new model with these properties and then /*put List of that model as property here, but how to fill that list inside view ??*/ public string TextBoxOneValue { get; set; } public string TextBoxTwoValue { get; set; } public string TextBoxThreeValue { get; set; } Now, i was thinking that i Create PartialView with this 3 text boxes, and then when user clicks button on view another PartialView is loaded. And now, let's say I have Two partial views loaded, and user clicks submit, how that I pass list with values of these 3 text boxes to controller ??

    hi, I develop a web application it is working fine in local. When i upload the site in online through CuteFTP it is showing the error like this... Description: An application error occurred on the server. The current custom error settings for this application prevent the details of the application error from being viewed remotely (for security reasons). It could, however, be viewed by browsers running on the local server machine. Details: To enable the details of this specific error message to be viewable on remote machines, please create a tag within a "web.config" configuration file located in the root directory of the current web application. This tag should then have its "mode" attribute set to "Off". Notes: The current error page you are seeing can be replaced by a custom error page by modifying the "defaultRedirect" attribute of the application's configuration tag to point to a custom error page URL. please help me i place the but even though it is not working it is giving same error.     I'm using Entity Framework for creation of my Data Access Layer and I want for all of my classes to be internal. I know it is possible to manually assign it manually in the designer for each class. But looks like it also requires to set internal modifier for each single property in every class! I have about 30+ entities and it will be a huge work to do. Do you know any ideas how to set a 'default access' for the entire model?
