• Get corresponding physical disk drives of mountpoints with WMI queries?

  Is there a way to retrieve a connection between a mountpoint (a volume which is mounted into the file system instead of mounted to a drive letter) and its belonging physical disk drive(s) with WMI? For example I have got a volume mountpoint on a W2K8 server which is mounted to “C:\Data\” and the mountpoint is spreaded on the physical disk drives 2, 4, and 5 of the server (the Data Management of the Server Manager shows that) but I cannot find a way to get this to know by using WMI. Volumes which have got a drive letter can be connected with the WMI-Classes Win32_DiskDrive -- Win32_DiskDriveToDiskPartition -- Win32_DiskPartition -- Win32_LogicalDiskToPartition -- Win32_LogicalDisk – but the problem is, that volume mountpoints aren’t listed in the class Win32_LogicalDisk, they are only listed in Win32_Volume. And I did not find a way to connect the class Win32_Volume with the class Win32_DiskDrive – there are missing some linking classes. Does anyone know a solution?

• Repeater and add columns to header and itemtemplate on page load

  I haven't used repeaters for much more than showing data from a datatable. I am building a grid that that shows a list of users and columns of roles that the user has been assigned, shown with checkboxes (shown with true/false below but pretent they are checkboxes). ex. |Rep Name|Caller|Closer|Manager|SuperUser| |Bob |True |true | false | false | |Tom |false |false |True | True | Basically using it for roles management. However the roles may change later on so I want to load the roles(headers and items) dynamically into the repeater. I am not sure how to do this or if it is even possible. I figure you grab a list of current role possibilities and load them into the headertemplate but I am not sure how to match those with the itemtemplate and how to create checkboxes and place them in the itemtemplate. Sorry if it is a rudementary question.... I appreciate any advice!

I get the current location with -(void)locationManager:(CLLocationManager *)manager didUpdateToLocation:(CLLocation *)newLocation fromLocation:(CLLocation *)oldLocation { NSLog(@"%f,%f", [newLocation coordinate]); The Log displays the correct coordinates like 2010-04-05 15:33:25.436 deBordeaux[60657:207] 37.331689,-122.030731 I didn't find the right way to transmit the coordinates to the url-string. Does someone can give me a hint how-to?

• Cross compiling unit tests with CppUnit or similar

  Has anyone used a package like CppUnit to cross-compile C++ unit tests to run on an embedded platform? I'm using G++ on a Linux box to compile executables that must be run on a LynxOS board. I can't seem to get any of the common unit test packages to configure and build something that will create unit tests. I see a lot of unit test packages, CppUnit, UnitTest++, GTest, CppUTest, etc., but very little about using these packages in a cross-compiler scenario. The ones with a "configure" script imply that this is possible, but I can't seem to get them to configure and build.

  I would like to have users authenticate against an ActiveDirectory LDAP server using the DOMAIN\user.name syntax. I think that should be possible with SpringSec 3.0 since the docs mention an "alternative syntax" which I guess refers to the DOM\user syntax instead of a bind DN, but the docs don't elaborate further. Is there some way to configure Spring Sec 3 LDAP to use "the MS way" or do I have to write my own Authenticator implementation (against e.g. the java.naming.directory package, which I've tested to be able to use the MS syntax as its SECURITY_PRINCIPAL)?

  I have checked similarly named questions, but they don't answer this use case. Basically, I was to overlay some text (text) at a given coordinate (x,y) I have the below function in a package; protected BufferedImage Process2(BufferedImage image){ Graphics2D gO = image.createGraphics(); gO.setColor(Color.red); gO.setFont(new Font( "SansSerif", Font.BOLD, 12 )); gO.drawString(this.text, this.x, this.y); System.err.println(this.text+this.x+this.y); return image; } I feel like im missing something patently obvious; every reference to Graphics2D I can find is dealing with either games or writing directly to a file but I just want a BufferedImage returned. with the overlay 'rendered' In the current code, the image appears out the end unchanged. • How safe am I singing into Google Spreadsheets with yeroon.net/ggplot2

  I am impressed by what I have seen of yeroon.net/ggplot2 which is a web interface for Hadley Wickham's R package ggplot2. I want to try it out on my own data. The part that has me very excited is that one can use data stored in one's own Google spreadsheet as the data. One just signs into their Google Account so that yeroon.net/ggplot2 can access the spreadsheet list. I have been hesitant to do it. If I sign in whilst on yeroon.net am I handing over my username and password to a third party? It would not be wise of me to divulge my google password to third parties since Google is fast becoming my repository of everything. How do I know if Jeroon's application is using ClientLogin or OAuth? My understanding is very basic and may be wrong but nevertheless here it is. OAuth would be better since it does not actually pass the password onto the third party application.

• Mercurial hg clone error - "abort: error: Name or service not known"

  I have installed the latest hg package available for Fedora Linux. However, hg clone reports an error. hg clone http://localmachine001:8000/ repository reports: "abort: error: Name or service not known" localmachine001 is a computer within the local network. I can ping it from my Linux box without any problems. I can also use the same http address and browse the existing code. However, hg clone does not work. If I execute the same command from my Macintosh machine, I can easily clone the repository. Some Internet resources recommend editing .hgrc file, and adding proxy to it: [http_proxy] host=proxy:8080 I have tried that without any success. Also, I assume that proxy is not needed in this case, since the hg server machine is in my local network. Can anyone recommend me what should I do, or how could I track the problem?   I have a web application that is set up to use the default ldap server/authentication manager/authentication provider/user service. I have another DAO that already does majority of the work that those do (besides the authenticating a user) using Spring-LDAP. My problem is that I want the principal to be of my own custom bean class. What is the simplest way to do this? Initially I was thinking to create a custom authentication provider, but since the default one does exactly what I want, there doesnt seem to be a need. I am thinking I just need to override whatever object actually returns the Principal bean. Is this possible, and able to be injected into the security ldap authenticator context?

I would like to implement a server - client software with the following security requirements: WCF-Services need to be secured with SSL and Certificates for both, the server and the client Client certificates need to be generated programmatically upon user registration Client-certificates are deployed via a an automatically generated installer-package Altough the client-certificates are self-signed (no authorized CA for the generation server) the end-user must not add the server-certificate to the trusted certificates in the local Certificate Store My problems: I cannot find any information regarding establishing such a two-way ssl-security for wcf, while the server-certificate is not signed by an authorized CA and instead is created programmatically with "makecert"... My question: Is it technically possible to implement this requirements? If yes - could you provide some hints how to get started? Thank you!

InputFlatFile currentFile = new InputFlatFile("src/theFile.txt"); I grab the file with that line as you can see using src. However this doesn't work with the executable jar. Can someone please let me know how to keep this file with the executable jar so someone using the program can just click a single icon and run the program. Thanks!

  Alright, I have an issue with the following code. What happens is when a user closes their browser, it should prompt them to either click OK or click CANCEL to leave the page. Clicking OK would trigger a window.location to redirect to another page for user tracking (and yes, to avoid flame wars, there is a secondary system in place to assure accurate tracking, in the event of the user killing the browser from the task manager (as mentioned in similar questions)). CANCEL would remain on the page, the issue being that no matter what button you hit, you get redirected as if you wanted to leave the page. • MS SQL Bridge Table Constraints

  Greetings - I have a table of Articles and a table of Categories. An Article can be used in many Categories, so I have created a table of ArticleCategories like this: BridgeID int (PK) ArticleID int CategoryID int Now, I want to create constraints/relationships such that the ArticleID-CategoryID combinations are unique AND that the IDs must exist in the respective primary key tables (Articles and Categories). I have tried using both VS2008 Server Explorer and Enterprise Manager (SQL-2005) to create the FK relationships, but the results always prevent Duplicate ArticleIDs in the bridge table, even though the CategoryID is different. I am pretty sure I am doing something obviously wrong, but I appear to have a mental block at this point. Can anyone tell me please how should this be done? Greaty appreciated!

• Parsing Wiki XML Dumps ver0.4 just got tough

  Hello, I am trying to parse Wikipedia XML Dump using "Parse-MediaWikiDump-1.0.4" along with "Wikiprep.pl" script. I guess this script works fine with ver0.3 Wiki XML Dumps but not with the latest ver0.4 Dumps. I get the following error. Can't locate object method "page" via package "Parse::MediaWikiDump::Pages" at wikiprep.pl line 390. Also, under the "Parse-MediaWikiDump-1.0.4" documentation @ http://search.cpan.org/~triddle/Parse-MediaWikiDump-1.0.4/lib/Parse/MediaWikiDump/Pages.pm, I read "LIMITATIONS Version 0.4 This class was updated to support version 0.4 dump files from a MediaWiki instance but it does not currently support any of the new information available in those files." Any work arounds would help me get to the next level. Note: one may wonder why cannot we directly use SAX or STAX parser instead, wikipedia dump is a 25GB plus single file, stack/memory issues are obvious. Hence, the above perl script resolves this issue but currently I am stuck with this version problem.

  Suppose you are a project manager. You can estimate an effort in days for specific task for specific developer. After performing estimation you obtain some min and max values. After this you delegate a task to developer. Actually you also set up deadline. Which estimation is better to use when set up deadline: min or max? As I see min estimation can result in stress for developer, max estimation can result in using all the time which is allocated to developer even if task can be complete faster (so called Student syndrome). Which other pros and cons of two approaches? Small clarification: I speak about setting up deadlines for subordinates when delegating the task, NOT for reporting to my boss.

  My application is been live from 6 months. The application is host on jboss 7.1 server. From last few days I am finding numerous problem of hanging of jboss server. Though I restart the jboss server again, it does not invoke. I need to restart the server machine itself. Can anyone please let me know what could be the cause of these problems and the workable resolutions or any suggestion ?   Would a hiring manager at a small-to-medium consulting firm/corporation consider active blogging by a candidate about Programming/software/technology as a positive? Should the candidate disclose this information during the interviews or put it on the resume? Thanks for the answers, So far the views about this topic has been.. Don't mention the blog if it is not relevant to the job. Mention the blog, if you believe your blog has quality content. Potential risk of not being accepted by culture of the employer's workplace. Could be a valuable for consultants to publish & preview their skills and experience. Certain Employers may consider blogging of a candidate a plus. Be careful what you post on the blog,no badmouthing,rants and overt criticism of others. Do not lie about blogging,if directly asked during the interview.

• USB Serial cable with CDC support

  Hi All, I bought a USB to Serial cable which claims to be CDC compliant. But the bInterfaceClass value in interface descriptor is 0xFF(which is vendor specific). I was expecting it to be 0x02 (Communications and CDC control). In the device manager, i found that the drivers being loaded are ser2pl.sys and serenum.sys. I had learnt usbser.sys is the windows CDC driver, but it was not loaded for my cable. I am pretty much new to this CDC, so i have following questions 1.Does this indicate that the cable is not CDC compliant 2.Can i make this cable CDC compliant (since CDC is a driver functionality), by loading usbser.sys. If yes how?
