  • containsObject - why doesen't this work?

    - by Emil
Hi. I have an array that I am trying to check wether or not an indexPath(.row) exists in. I use this code: if ([array containsObject:[NSNumber numberWithInt:indexPath.row]]){ NSLog(@"Yep, it exists in there."); } the array consist of the numbers 3, 8 and 2. The index path loads numbers fromm 0 to 8 in a loop. Can anybody see why this doesen't work?

  • AdMob ad is showing in iOS simulator, but not on iDevice

    - by Ben Toscano
As the heading states, I can get my AdMob Ad to show in the iOS 5.1 and 6.0 simulator just fine, however, when running my application on my iOS 5.1.1 or 6.0 devices, there is just a blank space where the ad should be served. The code in my .m file is as follows: bannerView_ = [[GADBannerView alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(0.0, 411.0 - GAD_SIZE_320x50.height, GAD_SIZE_320x50.width, GAD_SIZE_320x50.height)]; bannerView_.adUnitID = @"**myID**"; bannerView_.rootViewController = self; [self.view addSubview:bannerView_]; [bannerView_ loadRequest:[GADRequest request]]; //GADRequest *r = [[GADRequest alloc] init]; //r.testing = YES; //[bannerView_ loadRequest:r]; Furthermore, if I initiate testing of ads (see commented-out section), the test ad shows on both the simulator AND my iDevices, which is baffling me! What am I missing? Thanks for your help.

  • When I mark a property as transient, does the type matter?

    - by mystify
For example, I make a fullName property and set it to transient. Does it matter what data type that property is, in this case? For example, does it matter if it's set to int or string? As far as I get it, a transient property is almost "ignored" by Core Data. I make my accessors for that and when someone accesses fullName, I simply construct a string and return that. Did I miss something?

  • UIImagePickerController random behavior

    - by pion
I have the following code snippets: @interface PinRecordNewTableViewController : UITableViewController { } ... @implementation PinRecordNewTableViewController ... - (void)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView didSelectRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { ... PinRecordNewPicture *pinRecordNewPicture = [[PinRecordNewPicture alloc] initWithNibName:@"PinRecordNewPicture" bundle:nil]; pinRecordNewPicture.delegate = self; [self.navigationController pushViewController:pinRecordNewPicture animated:YES]; [pinRecordNewPicture release]; ... } @interface PinRecordNewPicture : UIViewController ... @implementation PinRecordNewPicture ... - (void)picturePicker:(UIImagePickerControllerSourceType)theSource { UIImagePickerController *picker = [[UIImagePickerController alloc] init]; picker.delegate = self; picker.sourceType = theSource; picker.allowsEditing = YES; [self presentModalViewController:picker animated:YES]; [picker release]; } - (IBAction) takePicture:(id)sender { UIImagePickerControllerSourceType source = UIImagePickerControllerSourceTypeCamera; if ([UIImagePickerController isSourceTypeAvailable:source]) { [self picturePicker:source]; } It works 80% of the time -- I could get the picture correctly. The problem is that it occasionally failed to take a picture. When tracing the code, I found out that it occasionally goes to -PinRecordNewTableViewController:viewDidUnload. This is where it fails because it set nil to all ivars. What did I do wrong? Did I miss something so it behaves "randomly"? Thanks in advance for your help.

  • UITableView with Custom Cell only loads one row of data at a time

    - by Anton
For my table, I've created a custom cell that has two labels. I also have two arrays with data, that I use to respectively assign each label in the cell. My problem, is that when the table is viewed, only the first row has data, and the rest of the data "sorta" loads when I start scrolling down. By "sorta", only the first row will load at a time. The only time I get to see all the data, is when I scroll to the bottom, then scroll up again. I've used the cellForRowAtIndexPath method to load the data into my cell. - (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { static NSString *CustomCellIdentifier = @"CustomCellIdentifier"; CustomCell *cell = (CustomCell *)[tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:CustomCellIdentifier]; if (cell == nil) { NSArray *nib = [[NSBundle mainBundle] loadNibNamed:@"CustomCell" owner:self options:nil]; for (id oneObject in nib) if ([oneObject isKindOfClass:[CustomCell class]]) cell = (CustomCell *)oneObject; } NSUInteger row = [indexPath row]; //I have two tables to fill up, hence the tag if statement if ([tableView tag] == 0) { cell.arriveTimeLabel.text = [homeBoundTimes objectAtIndex:row]; cell.departTimeLabel.text = [homeBoundTimes objectAtIndex:row]; } else if ([tableView tag] == 1) { cell.arriveTimeLabel.text = [workBoundTimes objectAtIndex:row]; cell.departTimeLabel.text = [workBoundTimes objectAtIndex:row]; } return cell; } Is it possible that its only getting called when the top cell is being called?

  • CoreData : App crashes when deleting last instance created

    - by Leo
    Hello, I have a 2 tabs application. In the first one, I'm creating objects of the "Sample" and "SampleList" entities. Each sampleList contains an ID and a set of samples. Each sample contains a date and temperature property. In the second tab, I'm displaying my data in a tableView. I implemented the - (void)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView commitEditingStyle:(UITableViewCellEditingStyle)editingStyle forRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath method in order to delete SampleLists. In my xcdatamodel the delete rule for my relationship between SampleList and Sample is Cascade. My problem is that when I try to delete SampleList I just created, the app crashes and I receive a EXC_BAD_ACCESS signal. If I restart it, then I'm able to delete "old" sampleList without any problems. Earlier, I had the following problem : I couldn't display the the sampleLists I created since I launched the app, because it crashed too. I received also the EXC_BAD_ACCESS signal. Actually, it seemed that the date of the last sample created of the set was nil. If I am not releasing the NSDate I'm using to set the sample's date, I don't have this problem anymore... If anyone could help me to find out what could cause my troubles it would be great !! Here is the method I'm using to create new instances : SampleList *newSampleList = (SampleList *)[NSEntityDescription insertNewObjectForEntityForName:@"SampleList" inManagedObjectContext:managedObjectContext]; [newSampleList setPatchID:patchID]; NSMutableSet *newSampleSet = [[NSMutableSet alloc] init]; NSCalendar *gregorian = [[NSCalendar alloc] initWithCalendarIdentifier:NSGregorianCalendar]; for (int i = 0; i < [byteArray count]; i=i+4, sampleCount++) { NSDateComponents *comps = [[NSDateComponents alloc] init]; [comps setYear:year]; [comps setMonth:month]; [comps setDay:day]; [comps setHour:hours]; [comps setMinute:minutes]; NSDate *sampleDate = [gregorian dateFromComponents:comps]; Sample *newSample = (Sample *)[NSEntityDescription insertNewObjectForEntityForName:@"Sample" inManagedObjectContext:managedObjectContext]; [newSample setSampleDate:sampleDate]; [newSample setSampleTemperature:[NSNumber numberWithInt:temperature]]; [newSampleSet addObject:newSample]; [comps release]; //[sampleDate release]; } [newSampleList setSampleSet:newSampleSet]; // [newSampleSet release]; NSError *error; if (![managedObjectContext save:&error]) { NSLog(@"Could not Save the context !!"); } [gregorian release];

  • Is there an easy way to make a horizontally paged UIScrollView wrap around?

    - by rustyshelf
I notice that in the stocks application, the small graph wraps around, eg: when you get to the end of the scroll view and swipe right again, you go back to the beginning. Before I go ahead and code this myself is there an easy way to do this in the SDK? I can't find any properties or methods that would enable that? I have a paged UIScrollView that scrolls horizontally, pretty much exactly like the stocks application one does.

  • What class should manage/control the CALayers in my view using proper MVC?

    - by wanderlust
I have a ViewController with a view (UIView). I need to handle touches, run some logic, check against model data, and and add and remove sublayers to the view based on those touches. Then I need to update the model based on the results. Should I have: ViewController - manage touches, get/set model data, add/remove sublayers UIView CALayer Sublayers or Controller (NSObject) - get/set data ViewController - manage touches, add/remove sublayers UIView CALayer Sublayers or Controller (NSObject) - get/set data CustomView - manage touches, add/remove sublayers CALayer Sublayers Or is it something else all together? No matter what I try, it "feels" awkward. SVN is my friend. Can you guys help a girl (with architectural issues) out?

  • Xcode 4 Tips and Tricks for Xcode 3 users

    - by Ben Clayton
As most of you have probably seen, Xcode 4 has been released officially today. Now I know that plenty of devs out there have been using the preview versions, and it'd be great if people could post any great tips, tricks, or keyboard shortcuts they've learned using those version now they're no longer under NDA. This could be especially useful for those upgrading from Xcode 3 (like me, downloading right now). Note: Apple have released a 'transition guide' that has plenty of stuff in about getting from version 3 to version 4, but I bet there are loads of great tricks people out there have learned that aren't in there.

  • Add programmatically clickable Button with custom Views layouted in InterfaceBuilder

    - by allisone
I have a UIScrollView. In there I add buttons programmatically. Right now I just use UIButton and set one title. But I need to have an UIImage View in there, that will change upon certain events, Text that will change too etc. and I would like to style that in Interface Builder, but I can't figure out how to do this. Which class should I extend, and what kind of xib should I create and what in there, so that in the end I can make the right connections and so that I can listen for UIControlEventTouchDown of that Button.

  • How do I hide the text on a label in Obj-C?

    - by dbonneville
I'm using label of a button to send a value into a function. However, I want the button to be invisible. I have the background color turned of in IB, and the text color is also set to nothing, but the text still shows up on the button. Is there another way to have a clear button that sends a value when it's clicked? If I could just turn off / hide the text on the stock UIButton that would be perfect... Thanks, Doug

  • selecting a row by means of a button ... using didSelectRowAtIndexPath

    - by John Smith
hey people , I have a question concerning a button I would like to create which selects my previous selected row. This is what I came up so far but since I'm new with the functionality and such I could definately use some pointers I created a toolbar with a button and behind this button is the following action. -(void)clickRow { selectedRow = [self.tableView indexPathForSelectedRow]; [self.tableView:[self tableView] didSelectRowAtIndexPath:selectedRow]; } in my didSelectRowAtIndexPath there is a rootViewController being pushed rvController = [RootViewController alloc] ...etc So what I would like is my function clickRow to select the row and push the new rootviewcontroller (which has the right info since I'm using a tree ). I tried something like this as well -(void)clickRow { NSDictionary *dictionary = [self.tableDataSource objectAtIndex:indexPath.row]; NSArray *Children = [dictionary objectForKey:@"Children"]; rvController = [[RootViewController alloc] initWithNibName:@"RootViewController" bundle:[NSBundle mainBundle]]; rvController.CurrentLevel += 1; rvController.CurrentTitle = [dictionary objectForKey:@"Title"]; [self.navigationController pushViewController:rvController animated:YES]; rvController.tableDataSource = Children; [rvController release]; } The last function works a little but a little is not enough;) For instance if I press the middle row or any other it constantly selects the toprow. thnx all for those of you reading and trying to help

  • UITableView becomes invisible after changing data in it

    - by Alexander Shemshurenko
Hi I have application with TabBar that control several views. In one view i control connection to different servers. Each server provides different set of items. I display these items in UITableView on other view. I create table view like this UITableView * aTableView = [[UITableView alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(X,Y,Width,Height) style:UITableViewStyleGrouped]; [[self view] addSubview:aTableView]; aTableView.da taSource = self; The problem is that Table view displayed ok first time , but if i go back to view number one and change server(changing list of items that should be displayed in table view), table view becomes invisible for some reason. If i tap on the screen in place where it should be, its becomes visible again. Ive tried to call to reloadData and setNeedDisplay in viewWillAppear of the UIViewController that hosts this table view, but without success. Any advice? Thanks

  • NSFetchedResultsController sections localized sorted

    - by Gerd
How could I use the NSFetchedResultsController with translated sort key and sectionKeyPath? Problem: I have ID in the property "type" in the database like typeA, typeB, typeC,... and not the value directly because it should be localized. In English typeA=Bird, typeB=Cat, typeC=Dog in German it would be Vogel, Katze, Hund. With a NSFetchedResultController with sort key and sectionKeyPath on "type" I receive the order and sections - typeA - typeB - typeC Next I translate for display and everything is fine in English: - Bird - Cat - Dog Now I switch to German and receive a wrong sort order - Vogel - Katze - Hund because it still sorts by typeA, typeB, typeC So I'm looking for a way to localize the sort for the NSFetchedResultsController. I tried the transient property approach, but this doesn't work for the sort key because the sort key need to be in the entity. I have no other idea. But I can't believe that's not possible to use NSFetchedResultsController on a derived attribute required for localization? There are related discussions like http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1384345/using-custom-sections-with-nsfetchedresultscontroller but the difference is that the custom section names and the sort key have probably the same order. Not in my case and this is the main difference. At the end I would need a sort order for the necessary NSSortDescriptor on a derived attribute, I guess. This sort order has also to serve for the sectionKeyPath. Thanks for any hint.

  • What can cause Bonjour to not call me back during browsing?

    - by millenomi
I have a rather popular Bonjour-based application in App Store. It works perfectly, but around 0.2% of my users report a bizarre bug: "no arrows appear on the edges of the screen, so I can't share stuff with other people!". Needless to say, displaying these arrows is tied to the browsing of a particular Bonjour service on the local domain. The problem is, the Apple review team seems to intermittently happen to be in this 0.2%. This isn't good for review results, as you might imagine. No matter how much I try, I cannot reproduce this bug. From the few logs I have, it looks like my app is running correctly, just not receiving NSNetServiceBrowser delegate calls. What can cause this? Things I've tried: Having a shorter service name < 14 chars in length to be in spec. Publishing on @"local." rather than @"" (aka Go Look For The Default Registration Domain). My app is rather useless on a wide-area network anyway. Things I haven't tried: restarting the browsing machinery periodically. (I have two browsers, though, one looking for the legacy longer name, one for the new shorter one.) What to do?

  • How to reduce UIImage size to a maximum as possible

    - by Tharindu Madushanka
I am using following code to resize the image. Resize a UIImage Right Way And I use interpolation quality as kCGInterpolationLow. And then I use UIImageJPEGRepresentation(image,0.0) to get the NSData of that image. Still its a little bit high in size around 100kb. when I send it over the network. Can I reduce it further. If I am to reduce it more what could I do ? Thanks and Kind Regards,
