  • Multiple UIWebViewNavigationTypeBackForward not only false but make inferring the actual url impossi

    - by SG1
I have a UIWebView and a UITextField for the url. Naturally, I want the textField to always show the current document url. This works fine for urls directly input in the field, but I also have some buttons attached to the view for reload, back, and forward. So I've added all the UIWebViewDelegate methods to my controller, so it can listen to whenever the webView navigates and change the url in the textField as needed. Here's how I'm using the shouldStartLoadWithRequest: method: - (BOOL)webView:(UIWebView *)webView shouldStartLoadWithRequest:(NSURLRequest *)request navigationType:(UIWebViewNavigationType)navigationType { NSLog(@"navigated via %d", navigationType); //loads the user cares about if ( navigationType == UIWebViewNavigationTypeLinkClicked || navigationType == UIWebViewNavigationTypeBackForward ) { //URL setting [self setUrlQuietly:request.URL]; } return YES; } Now, my problem here is that an actual click will generate a single navigation of type "LinkClicked" followed by a dozen type "Other" (redirects and ad loads I assume), which gets handled correctly by the code, but a back/forward action will generate all its requests as back/forward requests. In other words, a click calls setUrlQuietly: once, but a back/forward calls it multiple times. I am trying to use this method to determine if the user actually initiated the action (and I'd like to catch page redirects too). But if the method has no way of distinguishing between an actual "back" and a "load initiated as a result of a back", how can I make this assessment? Without this, I am completely stumped as to how I can only show the actual url and not intermediate urls. Thank you!

  • Return the name of the class instance with the highest 'someValue' instance variable

    - by Timbo
I have a brand new Objective-C class called test. The test class has an instance variable called someValue, which contains an integer. I create 5 instances of the test class called aTest, bTest, cTest, dTest and eTest. The appropriate synthesize and property declarations for someValue are in place. Is there a clean way of returning the name of the class instance with the highest someValue value out of all the existing test class instances? The number of class instances may vary from the 5 in my example. Note I don't care what the value is, I just want to return the name of the class instance with the highest 'someValue' instance variable. I've tried a few NSMutable arrays however can only get the value not the name of the variable that contains it. Thanks in advance

  • Public class: The best way to store and access NSMutableDictionary?

    - by meridimus
    I have a class to help me store persistent data across sessions. The problem is I want to store a running sample of the property list or "plist" file in an NSMutableArray throughout the instance of the Persistance class so I can read and edit the values and write them back when I need to. The problem is, as the methods are publicly defined I cannot seem to access the declared NSMutableDictionary without errors. The particular error I get on compilation is: warning: 'Persistence' may not respond to '+saveData' So it kind of renders my entire process unusable until I work out this problem. Here is my full persistence class (please note, it's unfinished so it's just to show this problem): Persistence.h #import <UIKit/UIKit.h> #define kSaveFilename @"saveData.plist" @interface Persistence : NSObject { NSMutableDictionary *saveData; } @property (nonatomic, retain) NSMutableDictionary *saveData; + (NSString *)dataFilePath; + (NSDictionary *)getSaveWithCampaign:(NSUInteger)campaign andLevel:(NSUInteger)level; + (void)writeSaveWithCampaign:(NSUInteger)campaign andLevel:(NSUInteger)level withData:(NSDictionary *)saveData; + (NSString *)makeCampaign:(NSUInteger)campaign andLevelKey:(NSUInteger)level; @end Persistence.m #import "Persistence.h" @implementation Persistence @synthesize saveData; + (NSString *)dataFilePath { NSArray *paths = NSSearchPathForDirectoriesInDomains(NSDocumentDirectory, NSUserDomainMask, YES); NSString *documentsDirectory = [paths objectAtIndex:0]; return [documentsDirectory stringByAppendingPathComponent:kSaveFilename]; } + (NSDictionary *)getSaveWithCampaign:(NSUInteger)campaign andLevel:(NSUInteger)level { NSString *filePath = [self dataFilePath]; if([[NSFileManager defaultManager] fileExistsAtPath:filePath]) { NSLog(@"File found"); [[self saveData] setDictionary:[[NSDictionary alloc] initWithContentsOfFile:filePath]]; // This is where the warning "warning: 'Persistence' may not respond to '+saveData'" occurs NSString *campaignAndLevelKey = [self makeCampaign:campaign andLevelKey:level]; NSDictionary *campaignAndLevelData = [[self saveData] objectForKey:campaignAndLevelKey]; return campaignAndLevelData; } else { return nil; } } + (void)writeSaveWithCampaign:(NSUInteger)campaign andLevel:(NSUInteger)level withData:(NSDictionary *)saveData { NSString *campaignAndLevelKey = [self makeCampaign:campaign andLevelKey:level]; NSDictionary *saveDataWithKey = [[NSDictionary alloc] initWithObjectsAndKeys:saveData, campaignAndLevelKey, nil]; //[campaignAndLevelKey release]; [saveDataWithKey writeToFile:[self dataFilePath] atomically:YES]; } + (NSString *)makeCampaign:(NSUInteger)campaign andLevelKey:(NSUInteger)level { return [[NSString stringWithFormat:@"%d - ", campaign+1] stringByAppendingString:[NSString stringWithFormat:@"%d", level+1]]; } @end I call this class like any other, by including the header file in my desired location: @import "Persistence.h" Then I call the function itself like so: NSDictionary *tempSaveData = [[NSDictionary alloc] [Persistence getSaveWithCampaign:currentCampaign andLevel:currentLevel]];

  • Masking to Transparent returns empty image

    - by Tibi
    Hi there, I'm trying to put white color in my images to transparent with the following code. Problem is that "CGImageRef maskedTransparent" is blank. I don't understand because the code I'm using is nearly a copy paste from the doc ... Any idea ? (UIImage*) maskImage:(UIImage *)image withMask:(UIImage *)maskImage { CGImageRef maskRef = maskImage.CGImage; CGImageRef mask = CGImageMaskCreate(CGImageGetWidth(maskRef), CGImageGetHeight(maskRef), CGImageGetBitsPerComponent(maskRef), CGImageGetBitsPerPixel(maskRef), CGImageGetBytesPerRow(maskRef), CGImageGetDataProvider(maskRef), NULL, false); CGImageRef masked = CGImageCreateWithMask([image CGImage], mask); //Array defining min & max RGB values to be transformed to transparent colors. float maskingMinMax[6] = {255, 255, 255, 255, 255, 255}; //masking image to remove range in maskinLinMax CGImageRef maskedTransparent = CGImageCreateWithMaskingColors(masked, maskingMinMax); return [UIImage imageWithCGImage:maskedTransparent]; }

  • Problem while adding new Object to CoreData App

    - by elementsense
Hi Another Day, another CoreData problem,...but hopefully the last one now. Ok here is a copy of what I have : I have a List of Hotel Guests that stay in one Room and have Preferences. Once ready the user should select a guest and see the data and should also be able to add new guest, select the room (maintained also by application) and select their preferences (where the user can also add new preferences). The guest can have no or many preferences. So here is what I have so far. I created 3 Entities : - Rooms with roomnumber - Preferences with name - GuestInfo with name - with these Relationships room (Destination Rooms) and prefs (Destination Preferences with "To-Many Relationship") The prefs is a NSSet when you create a Managed Object Class. Now I created a UITableViewController to display all the data. I also have an edit and add mode. When I add a new Guest and just fill out the name, everything works fine. But when I want to add the prefs or the room number I get this error : Illegal attempt to establish a relationship 'room' between objects in different contexts Now, what confuses me is that when I add a guest and enter just the name, save it, go back and edit it and select the prefs and room number it works ? I have this line in both ViewControllers to select the room or prefs : [editedObject setValue:selectedRoom forKey:editedFieldKey]; with this .h : NSManagedObject *editedObject; NSString *editedFieldKey; NSString *editedFieldName; Again, it works on the editing mode but not when I want to add a fresh object. And to be sure, this is what I do for adding an new Guest : - (IBAction)addNewItem { AddViewController *addViewController = [[AddViewController alloc] initWithStyle:UITableViewStyleGrouped]; addViewController.delegate = self; addViewController.context = _context; // Create a new managed object context for the new book -- set its persistent store coordinator to the same as that from the fetched results controller's context. NSManagedObjectContext *addingContext = [[NSManagedObjectContext alloc] init]; self.addingManagedObjectContext = addingContext; [addingContext release]; [addingManagedObjectContext setPersistentStoreCoordinator:[[_fetchedResultsController managedObjectContext] persistentStoreCoordinator]]; GuestInfo *info = (GuestInfo *)[NSEntityDescription insertNewObjectForEntityForName:@"GuestInfo" inManagedObjectContext:addingContext]; addViewController.info = info; UINavigationController *navController = [[UINavigationController alloc] initWithRootViewController:addViewController]; [self.navigationController presentModalViewController:navController animated:YES]; [addViewController release]; [navController release]; } Anything I have to do to initialize the Room or Prefs ? Hope someone can help me out. Thanks

  • Selection on table view causes parent view to change

    - by Tereno
Hi there, I'm working on an iPad app and here's my scenario: I have a view which contains a table view inside of it. When the user selects an item on the table view, I would like the parent's view to change in a navigational manner. For those of you that have an iPad, this would be akin to the "Settings" app. But I guess in the "Settings" app, the right pane is composed of a grouped table view right? Is what I'm trying to do possible? Thanks

    - by MegaEduX
Hello, I am trying to save an image I take from a UIImagePickerController but I am not, well, being able to. This is the code I am trying to use to save the image: - (void)imagePickerController:(UIImagePickerController *)picker didFinishPickingImage:(UIImage *)image editingInfo:(NSDictionary *)editingInfo { UIImageWriteToSavedPhotosAlbum(image, nil, nil, nil); } That function is simply not being called. Any idea?

  • the callback sequence of viewDidAppear and viewDidDisappear between two view controllers

    - by olinYY
As I know, there are at least two ways to present a UIViewController on another UIViewController, first is using presentModalViewController:animated: on UIViewController, another is using pushViewController:animated: on UINavigationController, it seems when 2 view controller changing their appearance, the invoke sequence of appear/disappear callbacks are different. Following is an example, A is a UINavigationController, and B is a normal view controller, the actual callback sequence are: (1) A using presentModalViewController:animated: to show B: [B viewWillAppear]; [A viewWillDisappear]; [B viewDidAppear]; [A viewDidDisappear]; (2) A using pushViewController:animated: to show B: [A viewWillDisappear]; [B viewWillAppear]; [A viewDidDisappear]; [B viewDidAppear]; So my question is that, are these different callback sequence stable, or there are no definite sequence we can rely on? If they are stable, is there any document mentions this behavior? Can anyone help? Thanks in advanced!

  • Setting UIActivityIndicatorView while view is prepared

    - by iFloh
Hi, I have a UITabbBarController with a UITableView. Under certain circumstances the TabBarControllers dataset requires updating when a user arrives from another view, e.g. the initial load when the TabBarController is called the first time, or when the settings are changed. This dataset update takes about 2 seconds and I want to show an UIActivityIndicatorView. Trouble is that when I enter from another view I don't know which view to attach it to, since the loading of the tabbarController is carried out in the viewWillAppear method. Any clues how I can go about this?

  • How to make a derived UITableVIew work

    - by justinhj
I've made a new class in my Xcode project which is derived from UITableView I then drag a UITableView from in the interface builder onto my view and change the class of the object to my derived class. Then I drag the outlet from the table to the files owner and hook it up to an outlet variable in my main view, which is of the same type as my derived class. How do I also set up the datasource and delegate so that they belong to the derived class?

  • Setting custom UITableViewCells height

    - by Vijayeta
    I am using a custum UITableViewCell , which has some labels , buttons imageviews to be displayed.There is one label in the cell whose text is a NSString object and the length of string could be variable , due to this i cannot set a constant height to the cell in UITableViews : heightForCellAtIndex method.The ceels height depends on the labels height , whcich can be determined using the NSStrings sizeWithFont method . i tried using it , but looks like i m going wrong somewhere . Can anyone help me out in this , adding the code used in iniatilizing the cell if (self = [super initWithFrame:frame reuseIdentifier:reuseIdentifier]) { self.selectionStyle = UITableViewCellSelectionStyleNone; UIImage *image = [UIImage imageNamed:@"dot.png"]; imageView = [[UIImageView alloc] initWithImage:image]; imageView.frame = CGRectMake(45.0,10.0,10,10); headingTxt = [[UILabel alloc] initWithFrame: CGRectMake(60.0,0.0,150.0,post_hdg_ht)]; [headingTxt setContentMode: UIViewContentModeCenter]; headingTxt.text = postData.user_f_name; headingTxt.font = [UIFont boldSystemFontOfSize:13]; headingTxt.textAlignment = UITextAlignmentLeft; headingTxt.textColor = [UIColor blackColor]; dateTxt = [[UILabel alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(55.0,23.0,150.0,post_date_ht)]; dateTxt.text = postData.created_dtm; dateTxt.font = [UIFont italicSystemFontOfSize:11]; dateTxt.textAlignment = UITextAlignmentLeft; dateTxt.textColor = [UIColor grayColor]; NSString * text1 = postData.post_body; NSLog(@"text length = %d",[text1 length]); CGRect bounds = [UIScreen mainScreen].bounds; CGFloat tableViewWidth; CGFloat width = 0; tableViewWidth = bounds.size.width/2; width = tableViewWidth - 40; //fudge factor //CGSize textSize = {width, 20000.0f}; //width and height of text area CGSize textSize = {245.0, 20000.0f}; //width and height of text area CGSize size1 = [text1 sizeWithFont:[UIFont systemFontOfSize:11.0f] constrainedToSize:textSize lineBreakMode:UILineBreakModeWordWrap]; CGFloat ht = MAX(size1.height, 28); textView = [[UILabel alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(55.0,42.0,245.0,ht)]; textView.text = postData.post_body; textView.font = [UIFont systemFontOfSize:11]; textView.textAlignment = UITextAlignmentLeft; textView.textColor = [UIColor blackColor]; textView.lineBreakMode = UILineBreakModeWordWrap; textView.numberOfLines = 3; textView.autoresizesSubviews = YES; [self.contentView addSubview:imageView]; [self.contentView addSubview:textView]; [self.contentView addSubview:webView]; [self.contentView addSubview:dateTxt]; [self.contentView addSubview:headingTxt]; [self.contentView sizeToFit]; [imageView release]; [textView release]; [webView release]; [dateTxt release]; [headingTxt release]; } textView = [[UILabel alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(55.0,42.0,245.0,ht)]; this is the label whose height and widh are going wrong

  • How to properly set relationships in Core Data when using setValue and data already exists

    - by ern
Let's say I have two objects: Articles and Categories. For the sake of this example all relevant categories have already been added to the data store. When looping through data that holds edits for articles, there is category relationship information that needs to be saved. I was planning on using the -setValue method in the Article class in order to set the relationships like so: - (void)setValue:(id)value forUndefinedKey:(NSString *)key { if([key isEqualToString:@"categories"]){ NSLog(@"trying to set categories..."); } } The problem is that value isn't a Category, it is just a string (or array of strings) holding the title of a category. I could certainly do a lookup within this method for each category and assign it, but that seems inefficient when processing a whole bunch of articles at once. Another option is to populate an array of all possible categories and just filter, but my question is where to store that array? Should it be a class method on Article? Is there a way to pass in additional data to the -setValue method? Is there another, better option for setting the relationship I'm not thinking of? Thanks for your help.

  • Show UIView for app presentation only once in iOS

    - by André Muniz
I need to show an UIScrollView with some pages for present the app to user when launched for the first time. My slides are working correctly, lefting the logic to present it. Is a good practice to set the UIScrollViewController as root controller and set a NSUserDefault variable to control the presentation and redirect to main controller or set the main ViewController as root normally and call the presentation view if needed is a better approach? If there is a better way to do this can someone help? Thanks.

  • Memory Warning but Small Live Bytes

    - by Kamchatka
Hi everyone, In my application, I get a memory warning of level 1 and then 2 after repeating some action (choosing a picture + processing) several times and then a crash. The leak tool doesn't show any leak. I'm also following the Allocations tool in Instruments and my Live Bytes are roughly 4 MB, overall I allocate 113 MB. At maximum I have maybe 20 MB in memory when the picture is loaded. Since I have to repeat an action to get to the crash, it is very likely to be a memory leak. However, I don't know how to locate it since my live bytes are 4 MB and things supposed to be allocated (apart a small leak of ~100 KB in the UIImagePickerController). How much can I trust the memory leak/allocation tools? Would you have an advice to help me locate the reason of the problem?
