  • iPodMusicPlayer doesn't send notifications, if it is created in background

    - by Aleksejs
    If iPodMusicPlayer is created in background, then I doesn't send notifications about playback state changes. Here is code: - (void)initMusicPlayer { musicPlayer = [MPMusicPlayerController iPodMusicPlayer]; NSNotificationCenter *notificationCenter = [NSNotificationCenter defaultCenter]; [notificationCenter addObserver:self selector:@selector(musicPlayerStateChanged:) name:MPMusicPlayerControllerNowPlayingItemDidChangeNotification object:musicPlayer]; [notificationCenter addObserver:self selector:@selector(musicPlayerStateChanged:) name:MPMusicPlayerControllerPlaybackStateDidChangeNotification object:musicPlayer]; [musicPlayer beginGeneratingPlaybackNotifications]; } - (void)viewDidLoad { [self performSelectorInBackground:@selector(initMusicPlayer) withObject:nil]; } Is there some way how to create iPodMusicPlayer in background? Otherwise if it is created on the main thread, it blocks executions for a while.

  • What to do with lookup entities selected from drop down select ? How to send them to the service lay

    - by arrages
    I am developing a spring mvc based application. I have a simple pojo form object, the problem is that many properties will be taked from drop down lists that are populated from lookup entities, so I return the entity ID to the form object. public NewCarRequestForm { private makeId; // this are selected from a drop down. private modelId; } Should I just send this lookup entity ID to the service layer? or should I validated that this ID is correct (Somebody can send any random ID through the request) before and how? Now there is a problem if I want to validated something based on some property of the lookup entity. Do I perform a database lookup of the entity just to perform the validation? thanks.

My page structures: - 1 masterpage with 1 content holder - Default.aspx (all the controls are within the content place holder) - Functions.cs (located in App_Code) Now when i try to fill up the listbox elements i get the error "object reference not set to an instance of an object." What i have tried to gain acces to this control: (this code is located in Functions.cs in App_Code). This is basicly showing some items in the listbox that are located in the xml file private static string file = HttpContext.Current.Server.MapPath("~/App_Data/Questions.xml"); public static void ListItems() { XmlDocument XMLDoc = new XmlDocument(); XMLDoc.Load(file); XPathNavigator nav = XMLDoc.CreateNavigator(); XPathExpression expr; expr = nav.Compile("/root/file/naam"); XPathNodeIterator iterator = nav.Select(expr); //ATTEMPT to get acces to ServerControl(listbox) Page page = (Page)HttpContext.Current.Handler; ListBox test = (ListBox)page.FindControl("lbTest"); //control is called lbTest in Default.aspx test.Items.Clear(); while (iterator.MoveNext()) { test.Items.Add(iterator.Current.Value); } } Code from the default.apx file <%@ Page Title="" Language="C#" MasterPageFile="~/MasterFile.master" AutoEventWireup="true" CodeFile="default.aspx.cs" Inherits="default" Debug="true" %> <%@ MasterType TypeName="Master" %> <asp:Content ID="Content1" ContentPlaceHolderID="cphContent" Runat="Server" > <asp:MultiView ID="mvTest" runat="server" > <asp:View ID="vCollection" runat="server"> <asp:ListBox ID="lbTest" runat="server" CssClass="listbox" ></asp:ListBox> </asp:View> </asp:MultiView> </asp:Content> The masterfile itself just has 1 placeholder. Then i call upon the funcion ListItems in the Default.aspx.cs file protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) { Functions.ListItems(); } Regards.

  • Sending JSON content type in from JavaScript objects ( jQuery ajax )

    - by smartnut007
    I am having trouble sending JavaScript objects as a http request that only accepts json content-type. i.e "application/json" or "text/json" But, I am not sure why data2 ( stringified json ) works fine But, data1 ( json object ) does throws 400 ( Bad Request ). i.e I am not sure jQuery does not serialize the json object to a valid json string for the server to process. var data1 = ({ rating : 3 }); //does not work var data2 = '{ "rating" : 3}'; //works fine $.ajax({ url : "/rate", data : data1, type : "POST", contentType: "application/json", success: function(json){ console.log("Ajax Return :"+json); } });

  • Why isn't it possible to update an ObservableCollection from a different thread?

    - by MainMa
    In a multi-threaded WPF application, it is not possible to update an ObservableCollection from a thread other than WPF window thread. I know there are workarounds, so my question is not how to avoid the "This type of CollectionView does not support changes to its SourceCollection from a thread different from the Dispatcher thread" exception. My question is, why there is such an exception? Why wasn't it possible to allow collection updates from any thread? Personally, I don't see any reason to block UI update when ObservableCollection is changed from other threads. If two threads (including parallel ones) are accessing the same object, one listening for changes of object properties through events, the other one doing changes, it will always work, at least if locks are used properly. So, what are the reasons?

  • how to listen to Enter button when using JOptionPane.showOptionDialog

    - by MemoryLeak
    I use: char[] password = null; JPasswordField jpf = new JPasswordField(30); java.lang.Object [] messageInput = { prompt, jpf }; java.lang.Object [] options = { jpf , "OK", "Cancel"}; int result = JOptionPane.showOptionDialog(null, messageInput, title, JOptionPane.OK_CANCEL_OPTION, JOptionPane.QUESTION_MESSAGE, null, options, ""); JOptionPane.showMessageDialog(null, result); if (result == 1) { password = jpf.getPassword(); } else if(result == JOptionPane.CANCEL_OPTION) { } return password; to get password, but this can not listen to the Enter button. I know if I set the options parameter to null, can make the dialog listen to "enter" button, but if I do that, the dialog don't focus to the textbox when show up. Can someone help me on this ? Thanks in advance !

  • Suggestions In Porting ASP.NET to MVC.NET - Is storing SiteConfiguration in Cache RESTful?

    - by DaveDev
    I've been tasked with porting/refactoring a Web Application Platform that we have from ASP.NET to MVC.NET. Ideally I could use all the existing platform's configurations to determine the properties of the site that is presented. Is it RESTful to keep a SiteConfiguration object which contains all of our various page configuration data in the System.Web.Caching.Cache? There are a lot of settings that need to be loaded when the user acceses our site so it's inefficient for each user to have to load the same settings every time they access. Some data the SiteConfiguration object contains is as follows and it determines what Master Page / site configuration / style / UserControls are available to the client, public string SiteTheme { get; set; } public string Region { private get; set; } public string DateFormat { get; set; } public string NumberFormat { get; set; } public int WrapperType { private get; set; } public string LabelFileName { get; set; } public LabelFile LabelFile { get; set; } // the following two are the heavy ones // PageConfiguration contains lots of configuration data for each panel on the page public IList<PageConfiguration> Pages { get; set; } // This contains all the configurations for the factsheets we produce public List<ConfiguredFactsheet> ConfiguredFactsheets { get; set; } I was thinking of having a URL structure like this: www.MySite1.com/PageTemplate/UserControl/ the domain determines the SiteConfiguration object that is created, where MySite1.com is SiteId = 1, MySite2.com is SiteId = 2. (and in turn, style, configurations for various pages, etc.) PageTemplate is the View that will be rendered and simply defines a layout for where I'm going to inject the UserControls Can somebody please tell me if I'm completely missing the RESTful point here? I'd like to refactor the platform into MVC because it's better to work in but I want to do it right but with a minimum of reinventing-the-wheel because otherwise it won't get approval. Any suggestions otherwise? Thanks

  • Why isn't the eigenclass equivalent to self.class, when it looks so similar?

    - by The Wicked Flea
    I've missed the memo somewhere, and I hope you'll explain this to me. Why is the eigenclass of an object different from self.class? class Foo def initialize(symbol) eigenclass = class << self self end eigenclass.class_eval do attr_accessor symbol end end end My train of logic that equates the eigenclass with class.self is rather simple: class << self is a way of declaring class methods, rather than instance methods. It's a shortcut to def Foo.bar. So within the reference to the class object, returning self should be identical to self.class. This is because class << self would set self to Foo.class for definition of class methods/attributes. Am I just confused? Or, is this a sneaky trick of Ruby meta-programming?

  • I am unsure of how to access a persistence entity from a JSP page?

    - by pharma_joe
    Hi, I am just learning Java EE, I have created a Persistence entity for a User object, which is stored in the database. I am now trying to create a JSP page that will allow a client to enter a new User object into the System. I am unsure of how the JSP page interacts with the User facade, the tutorials are confusing me a little. This is the code for the facade: <html> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8"> <title>Add User to System</title> </head> <body> <h2>Add User</h2> <h3>Please fill out the details to add a user to the system</h3> <form action=""> <label>Email:</label> <input type="text" name="email"><br /> <label>Password:</label> <input type="password" name="name"><br /> <label>Name:</label> <input type="text" name="name"><br /> <label>Address:</label> <input type="text" name="address"><br /> <label>Type:</label> <select name="type"> <option>Administrator</option> <option>Member</option> </select><br /> <input type="submit" value="Add" name="add"/> <input type="reset" value="clear" /> </form> </body> This is the code I have to add a new User object within the User facade class: @Stateless public class CinemaUserFacade { @PersistenceContext(unitName = "MonashCinema-warPU") private EntityManager em; public void create(CinemaUser cinemaUser) { em.persist(cinemaUser); } I am finding it a little difficult to get my head around the whole MVC thing, getting there but would appreciate it if someone could turn the light on for me!

  • Hot to get rid of memory allocations/deallocations in swig wrappers?

    - by Dmitriy Matveev
    I want to use swig for generation of read-only wrappers for a complex object. The object which I want to wrap will always be existent while I will read it. And also I will only use my wrappers at the time that object is existent, thus I don't need any memory management from SWIG. For following swig interface: %module test %immutable; %inline %{ struct Foo { int a; }; struct Bar { int b; Foo f; }; %} I will have a wrappers which will have a lot of garbage in generated interfaces and do useless work which will reduce performance in my case. Generated java wrapper for Bar class will be like this: public class Bar { private long swigCPtr; protected boolean swigCMemOwn; protected Bar(long cPtr, boolean cMemoryOwn) { swigCMemOwn = cMemoryOwn; swigCPtr = cPtr; } protected static long getCPtr(Bar obj) { return (obj == null) ? 0 : obj.swigCPtr; } protected void finalize() { delete(); } public synchronized void delete() { if (swigCPtr != 0) { if (swigCMemOwn) { swigCMemOwn = false; testJNI.delete_Bar(swigCPtr); } swigCPtr = 0; } } public int getB() { return testJNI.Bar_b_get(swigCPtr, this); } public Foo getF() { return new Foo(testJNI.Bar_f_get(swigCPtr, this), true); } public Bar() { this(testJNI.new_Bar(), true); } } I don't need 'swigCMemOwn' field in my wrapper since it always will be false. All code related to this field will also be useless. There are also unnecessary logic in native code: SWIGEXPORT jlong JNICALL Java_some_testJNI_Bar_1f_1get(JNIEnv *jenv, jclass jcls, jlong jarg1, jobject jarg1_) { jlong jresult = 0 ; struct Bar *arg1 = (struct Bar *) 0 ; Foo result; (void)jenv; (void)jcls; (void)jarg1_; arg1 = *(struct Bar **)&jarg1; result = ((arg1)->f); { Foo * resultptr = (Foo *) malloc(sizeof(Foo)); memmove(resultptr, &result, sizeof(Foo)); *(Foo **)&jresult = resultptr; } return jresult; } I don't need these calls to malloc and memmove. I want to force swig to resolve both of these problems, but don't know how. Is it possible?

  • Entity Framework 4 Hiding Underlying Resolver Tables when model is generated from database

    - by grrrrrrrrrrrrr
    When creating an entity framework model from scratch it is possible to specify a Many to Many relationship in the model. e.g Entity1 * ----- * Entity2 When a database is then generated from this, a resolver table is then created automatically between the two entities, this is hidden in the code model, allowing direct access to each of the entities via properties. e.g. Entity1 ----* ResolverEntity *----- Entity2 My question is, when a model is generated from an existing database, which contains resolver tables, is it possible to create the same effect so the resolver tables do not appear in the generated object model? When I have attempted this, the entity framework appears to create entities in the model for the resolver tables with no obvious way of hiding them in the object model. Thanks.

  • Does declaring many identical anonymous classes waste memory in java?

    - by depsypher
    I recently ran across the following snippet in an existing codebase I'm working on and added the comment you see there. I know this particular piece of code can be rewritten to be cleaner, but I just wonder if my analysis is correct. Will java create a new class declaration and store it in perm gen space for every call of this method, or will it know to reuse an existing declaration? protected List<Object> extractParams(HibernateObjectColumn column, String stringVal) { // FIXME: could be creating a *lot* of anonymous classes which wastes perm-gen space right? return new ArrayList<Object>() { { add(""); } }; }

  • what is serialization and how it works

    - by Rozer
    I know the serialization process but have't implemented it. In my application i have seen there are various classes that has been implemented serilizable interface. consider following class public class DBAccessRequest implements Serializable { private ActiveRequest request = null; private Connection connection = null; private static Log log = LogFactory.getLog(DBAccessRequest.class); public DBAccessRequest(ActiveRequest request,Connection connection) { this.request = request; this.connection = connection; } /** * @return Returns the DB Connection object. */ public Connection getConnection() { return connection; } /** * @return Returns the active request object for the db connection. */ public ActiveRequest getRequest() { return request; } } just setting request and connection in constructor and having getter setter for them. so what is the use of serilizable implementation over here...

  • How to measure how long is a function running?

    - by rhose87

So I added a timer object on my form and I came out with this code: private int counter = 0; //inside button click I have: timer = new Timer(); timer.Tick += new EventHandler(timer_Tick); timer.Start(); Result result = new Result(); result = new GeneticAlgorithms().TabuSearch(parametersTabu, functia); timer.Stop(); and: private void timer_Tick(object sender, EventArgs e) { counter++; btnTabuSearch.Text = counter.ToString(); } But this is not counting anything. Any ideas?

  • Static dictionary in .Net Thread safety

    Reading msdn documentation for dictionaries it says : "Public static (Shared in Visual Basic) members of this type are thread safe. Any instance members are not guaranteed to be thread safe." Those this mean that with a dictionary such as this : static object syncObject = new object(); static Dictionary<string,MyObject> mydictionary= new Dictionary<string, MyObject>(); Is doing something like the code below unnecessary? lock (syncObject) { context = new TDataContext(); mydictionary.Add("key", myObject); }
