Defautlt Contoller in CodeIgniter

Hello everyone, I am wondering if there is any other configuration options for a default controller. For example - if I have a controller called "site" and I set the default controller in the following file: application/config/routes.php to: $route['default_controller'] = "site"; I should be able to go to http://localhost and that brings up the index(); function in the site controller. However, if I try to do go to http://localhost/index.php/index2 to load the index2(); function I get a 404 error. If i change the URL to http://localhost/index.php/site/index2 it works fine - but I thought already set the default controller. Is there any way around this? Any thoughts?

Problem while redirecting user after registration

I am creating a simple website . My situation is like this. After registering an user, I want to redirect the user after say 3 seconds to a main page(if the registration succeeds) . Best practice: Define form field name in backend or the template

If you designing a webpage you should separate the backend from the frontend. But if you use forms you have to name them. But where should you set this name? e.g. PHP: $fieldName = 'email'; $template->setVar('field_name', $fieldName) ... if(!empty($_POST)) validate($_POST[$fieldName]); Template: <input type="text" name="{$field_name}"> Or just PHP: if(!empty($_POST)) validate($_POST['email']); Template: <input type="text" name="email"> Or should I write a function that can be called from the template an converts an array of field data (name, type, value, id, class, ...) into html code? Is there a best practice where to define fieldnames (types,etc.)? Notice: I used php and smarty like pseudocode (and tags), but its a general question.

Connecting to the database in a Created Library - CodeIgniter

I have a little issue right now and its bugging me, hopefully one of you guys will be able to help me out. Basically I'm creating a library to use in CodeIgniter and I'm getting this error: A PHP Error was encountered Severity: Notice Message: Undefined property: Functions::$db Filename: libraries/Functions.php Line Number: 11 The Database library is already on autoload aswell as my functions library: $autoload['libraries'] = array('database','session','encrypt','functions'); The Functions.php file is located in the application/libraries folder accordingly. Line number 11 consists of this: $this->db->where('username', $data); Not sure as to why the db is an undefined property?

Hi guys, I am getting lot of traffic to my php pages but without the variable $_SERVER['HTTP_HOST'] setted. This traffic is like 1 hit per second. I don't know what it could be, but for reducing server load i am doing this at the top of every php pages: if (!isset($_SERVER['HTTP_HOST'])) exit; Do u know what could cause this? Is it safe to exit whenever http_host is not setted? Can a normal user visit my pages without setting http_host? PHP version: 5.2.0-8, Apache: 2.2.3 Thanks

Theme the node-create and node-edit template

I'm using drupal 6. I've managed to make a .tpl file for one content type, that is for images in my image gallery. I did that by adding this code in template.php: function artbasic_theme($existing, $type, $theme, $path) { return array( 'galleryimage_node_form' => array( 'arguments' => array('form' => NULL), 'template' => 'galleryimage_node_form' ) ); } And then I created galleryimage_node_form.tpl.php, and was good to go. Now it happens so that I want to have other template files for the forms of other content types, for example link_contrib_node_form.tpl.php. I've tried a couple of ways to change this function to include more content types, but I can't figure it out. Can anyone help?

Java REST Interface

I have a PHP web application environment. I am using Slim Framework as REST interface for my application. My application front-end is written using Backbone.js and jQuery. There is a utility (.jar file) which when I use command line makes a remote call (I guess this is a Web Service) which returns me the data. how do I best incorporate this into my webapplication described on top? My application front end will have a Button that should make an AJAX call to the REST Interface and fetch the data as JSON. My approach: PHP-REST interface url is: /api/phprestapi.php exists Add a JAVA-REST interface at url: /api/javarestapi.java (Perhaps) to separate these two Existing Environment: LAMP Stack on Ubuntu How do I achieve this? DateTime object is blank

I am trying to convert a date to a DateTime Object. My code works fine on my localhost (php version 5.3) but returns a blank DateTime object on my remote server (php version 5.2.14). Apply a class to a <h1> based on the site url

I'm new to PHP and want to apply a specific class to the title of my page depending on what part of the site the viewer is browsing. For instance, I want to apply the class "blog" to the if the viewer is at domain.com/blog OR domain.com/blog/post-1 so on and so forth BUT apply the class "pics" if they're viewing domain.com/pics or domain.com/pics/gallery-1 etc etc. I found something that could be modified to serve my needs using javascript here but I figured seeing as I'm using PHP already, it'd make more sense to keep this sort of thing server side. As I say, I'm new to PHP. I've experimented with some regular expressions, but to no avail.

Creating a file/folder structure and zipping it up?

I have a directory of image files and I need a php script or shell script that will rename them, create a structure of nested directories, and then insert each image into a specified place in the directory hierarchy. Ideally I would just specify a parent directory for each file and a parent directory for each directory and it would build it. And then finally, I need the script to zip up the whole thing. There's probably not an existing php class that will do all this for me, but if anyone knows of a php class or other script available online that would handle a lot of this logic that would be great.

jQuery: Load body of page into variable

I'm using jQuery to load the result of a PHP script into a variable. The script is passed something that the user typed with a GET request. I want to take just what the script spit out into its <body> tag. Here's what I've tried: JS: function loader() { var typed = $('#i').val(); //get what user typed in $.get("script.php", {i: typed}, function(loaded) {dataloaded = loaded;}); alert($(dataloaded).find('body')) } But it just displays [Objec object]. How can I get a useful value that is just the contents of the body of a loaded page? I know the PHP works, I just need the JS. The script echos something like 1!!2 (two numbers separated by two exclamation points). Thanks!

Hi, In the root directory of a small site i'm developing i have the following .htacess file: Options +FollowSymLinks RewriteEngine On RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-F RewriteRule .$ index.php that basically allows me to have pretty urls as it remaps every path that does not exists on the server (eg : /user/details/145 ) as a call to index.php where I handle it MVC-style. While this works ok on MacOs, this morning I have to work on another machine that has Windows (the apache server is run by xampp) and it does not work as it seems to redirect all the calls (eg those to static files like images) to index.php Any help?

Mod_rewrite trouble: Want to direct from ?= to a flat link, nothing seems to work.

I have a site that currently serves results as example.com/index.php?show=foo and I'd like it to read example.com/show/foo. My understanding is this would make them visible to search engine robots, and it seems a much simpler way to do this than to create a couple hundred html files... I've tried the following .htaccess code: Options +FollowSymLinks RewriteEngine on RewriteRule ^show/(.*)$ index.php?show=$1 [NC,L] No dice. Very simple mod_rewrite questions

1- Does mod_rewrite means that if I make this url: domain.com/ad.php?id=8498292 INTO domain.com/8498292 that all links on my website will have to be changed to the later above? example the link: domain.com/ad.php?id=8498292 wont work now, unless I replace it with domain.com/8498292 ? Or will the server know that they are the same still? 2- Will the rewritten link appear rewritten in the browsers adress bars also, so if I enter domain.com/ad.php?id=8498292 it will actually appear as domain.com/8498292 in the adress bar itself? 3- Will images and all other related links and material on the page whose link is rewritten remain intact? ie will pictures and links still work FROM that page which are relative? I am using a custom captcha php script along with news letter scripts to let users subscribe using an email id. The method of registration is based on jQuery.post command. My question is that am I really safe If I remove the captcha validation from my subscription script. The subscription is simple. For example mydomain/[email protected] The subscribe.php is called along with email as parameter using jQuery.post command. I am new to web programming stuff and don't have much idea about spammers in conjunction with above scenario. Any advise would greatly be appreciated. Thanks
