  To begin I know about http://blog.kadirpekel.com/2009/11/09/facebook-connect-integration-with-spring-security/ The only problem is that it completely replaces the Form Login with Facebook Connect. I have the native form login in place, I also have Facebook Connect in place, Upon gathering user information I link it to a native account but without a password. At that point I would like to call a link or method to start process of going into the Spring Security Filter Chain. Here is the source code that works, but am trying to modify. It contains all the files I'm taking about. Now from what I understand I need to add a custom FacebookAuthenticationProvider so that my AuthenticationManager knows about it. <bean id="facebookAuthenticationProvider" class="org.springframework.security.facebook.FacebookAuthenticationProvider"> </bean> <security:authentication-manager alias="authenticationManager"> <security:authentication-provider ref="facebookAuthenticationProvider" /> </security:authentication-manager> Then within the FacebookAuthenticationProvider I would have to call an FacebookAuthenticationToken that would take my the current facebook Uid and SessionKey of the user. Then try authenticate this Token. So where does the FacebookAuthenticationFilter come into it? I'm just trying to understand the order at which these 3 files are called. As if you were trying to implement any other custom authentication. • How to read Unicode characters from command-line arguments in Python on Windows

  I want my Python script to be able to read Unicode command line arguments in Windows. But it appears that sys.argv is a string encoded in some local encoding, rather than Unicode. How can I read the command line in full Unicode? Example code: argv.py import sys first_arg = sys.argv[1] print first_arg print type(first_arg) print first_arg.encode("hex") print open(first_arg) On my PC set up for Japanese code page, I get: C:\temp>argv.py "PC·??????08.09.24.doc" PC·??????08.09.24.doc <type 'str'> 50438145835c83748367905c90bf8f9130382e30392e32342e646f63 <open file 'PC·??????08.09.24.doc', mode 'r' at 0x00917D90> That's Shift-JIS encoded I believe, and it "works" for that filename. But it breaks for filenames with characters that aren't in the Shift-JIS character set—the final "open" call fails: C:\temp>argv.py Jörgen.txt Jorgen.txt <type 'str'> 4a6f7267656e2e747874 Traceback (most recent call last): File "C:\temp\argv.py", line 7, in <module> print open(first_arg) IOError: [Errno 2] No such file or directory: 'Jorgen.txt' Note—I'm talking about Python 2.x, not Python 3.0. I've found that Python 3.0 gives sys.argv as proper Unicode. But it's a bit early yet to transition to Python 3.0 (due to lack of 3rd party library support). Update: A few answers have said I should decode according to whatever the sys.argv is encoded in. The problem with that is that it's not full Unicode, so some characters are not representable. Here's the use case that gives me grief: I have enabled drag-and-drop of files onto .py files in Windows Explorer. I have file names with all sorts of characters, including some not in the system default code page. My Python script doesn't get the right Unicode filenames passed to it via sys.argv in all cases, when the characters aren't representable in the current code page encoding. There is certainly some Windows API to read the command line with full Unicode (and Python 3.0 does it). I assume the Python 2.x interpreter is not using it.

• More efficient way to find media item in WMP media library?

  Hello, all. I am messing around with the WMPLib component provided by Windows Media Player 12 (wmp.dll) in VB.NET with .NET Framework 3.5 SP1. I am trying to retrieve a media item from my media library based on its name (assuming there are no duplicate names). At the moment, I'm grabbing the entire media library, and looping through every media item, and quitting the loop when I've found the correct media item. This works well (except for when a media item with that name cannot be found), but I was hoping there was a more efficient way of doing this. • Use of qsrand, random method that is not random

  Hey everyone, I'm having a strange problem here, and I can't manage to find a good explanation to it, so I thought of asking you guys : Consider the following method : int MathUtility::randomize(int Min, int Max) { qsrand(QTime::currentTime().msec()); if (Min > Max) { int Temp = Min; Min = Max; Max = Temp; } return ((rand()%(Max-Min+1))+Min); } I won't explain you gurus what this method actually does, I'll instead explain my problem : I realised that when I call this method in a loop, sometimes, I get the same random number over and over again... For example, this snippet... for(int i=0; i<10; ++i) { int Index = MathUtility::randomize(0, 1000); qDebug() << Index; } ...will produce something like : 567 567 567 567...etc... I realised too, that if I don't call qsrand everytime, but only once during my application's lifetime, it's working perfectly... My question : Why ?

• trouble accessing non-static functions from static functions in AS3

  I have a class containing, among other things, a drop down menu. With the aim of saving space, and since the contents of the menu will never change, I've made a static DataProvider for the whole class that populates each instances menu. I was hoping to populate the list with actual functions like so: tmpArr.push({label:"Details...", funct:openDetailsMenu, args:""}); and then assign tmpArr to the DataProvider. Because the DataProvider is static the function that contains that code also needs to be static, but the functions in the array are non-static. At first it didn't seem like a problem, because when the user clicks on a menu item the drop down menu can call a non-static "executeFunction(funct, args)" on its parent. However, when I try to compile, the static function setting up the DataProvider it can't find the non-static functions being passed. If the compiler would just trust me the code would work fine! The simple solution is to just pass strings and use a switch statement to call functions based on that, but that's big, ugly, inelegant, and difficult to maintain, especially if something inherits from this class. The simpler solution is to just make the DataProvider non-static, but I'm wondering if anyone else has a good way of dealing with this? Making the static function able to see its non-static brethren? Thanks.

• How do you use asynchronous ORMs without huge callback chains?

  I'm using the relatively immature Joose Javascript ORM plugin (project page) to persist objects in an Appcelerator Titanium (company page) mobile project. Since it's client side storage, the application has to check to see if the database is initialized before starting up the ORM since it inspects the DB tables to construct the classes. My problem is that this sequence of operations (and if this one is like this, other things down the road) takes a lot of callbacks to complete. I have a lot of jumping around in the code that isn't apparent to a maintainer and results in some complex call graphs and whatnot. So, I ask these questions: How would you asynchronously initialize a database and populate it with seed data using an ORM that needs the schema to be correct to function? Do you have any general strategies or links for async/event driven programming and keeping the call graph simple and understandable? Do you have any suggestions for Javascript ORMs/meta object systems that work with HTML 5 as a storage engine and are hopefully framework agnostic? Am I just a big newb and should be able to work this out with ease? Thanks folks!

  I am using sIfr (3.436) for my H1 and H2 tags. In IE8 the text flickers and jumps around alot. Any help to lead in the right direction is appreciated! Is there a platform-agnostic way to have in compile-time the correct value for max_int after the call to reverse_int_setup(); Otherwise, is there an algorithm you consider better/leaner than the one I have for reverse_int()?   Hello All, I'm new to DynamicJasper, I think it's a great project but for a few days I cannot run simple example which will display polish fonts properly. Details sections is generated without any problems automatically displaying polish letters like 'c z z a' etc. where title and column headers contain strange letters instead. • jQuery UI Dialog adding unwanted inline styles to images

  I am using JQUery UI to for the front end of a rails app I am developing. I am using jQuery dialog windows for displaying some tabbed data and inside one of these tabs I want to render some images. The rendering of the images works fine if I view the page without Javascript, however for some reason when putting it all in a dialog window all but the last image that I render gets some inline styles from somewhere! wihtout the dialog window: <img alt="Dsc_0085" class="picture" src="/system/sources/3/normal/DSC_0085.jpg?1260300748" /> <img alt="Dsc_0006" class="picture" src="/system/sources/4/normal/DSC_0006.jpg?1260301612" /> with the dialog window: <img alt="Dsc_0085" class="picture" src="/system/sources/3/normal/DSC_0085.jpg?1260300748" style="height: 0px; width: 0px; border-top-width: 1px; border-bottom-width: 1px; font-size: 22px; border-left-width: 1px; border-right-width: 1px; display: inline; "> <img alt="Dsc_0006" class="picture" src="/system/sources/4/normal/DSC_0006.jpg?1260301612" style="display: inline; "> I can't work out why putting the images into a dialog window is giving them inline styles with height and width of 0px, does anyone have any ideas?

• Xcode Link Frameworks "Relative to Current SDK" Doesn't Work When Mixing Mac Framework and iPhone St

  I have a framework of code I maintain. It's got mac and iphone objective-c code. And some of it is shared. I'm not having any problems with code. It's a problem with Xcode. Let's just call my framework "AwesomeKit" for this problem. The first thing I did was create an xcode Framework project called "AwesomeKit". Add source files to it, link against the common mac frameworks: foundation, cocoa, carbon, etc. It compiles fine. Then, add a new "static library" target, let's call it "AwesomeKit-iPhone" and set the base SDK in the build settings to iphone device 3.1.3. The problem comes when I try to add "Existing Frameworks" to the AweseomKit-iPhone target. -First change the current build target to AwesomeKit-iPhone. -Right click on any group and select "Add Existing Frameworks..." -Choose UIKit.framework UIKit will immediately be highlighted red, as if it's missing. It is indeed missing because Xcode uses the "Relative SDK" setting from the "Mac OS 10.6" SDK. When it should be using it relative to the current target's base sdk iphone device 3.1.3. What the heck? Has anyone experienced this? This is really annoying.

  I have a WCF service running, I added a reference to the service by using Add Service Reference in the solution explorer, and I checked the box for create asynchronous operations. My call works fine, I have a two way channel that reports back some events from the server and I am receiving the events.   I'm building a modular Silverlight application, using Prism. In the Shell project, I'm loading 2x modules, each hailing from a separate assembly. For convenience let's call them ModuleA and ModuleB ModuleA makes calls to WebServiceA. A ServiceReference.ClientConfig file is present in ModuleA's assembly. In order for this to work, in the shell project, I've added an "existing item" (path set to the forementioned config file in ModuleA's folder) as a link. The shell launched and the ModuleA made a successful call to the WebServiceA. Currently, I'm working on ModuleB, it also needs to make webservice calls, this time to WebServiceB. The service reference has been added, and a ServiceReference.ClientConfig file has appeared in ModuleB's assembly. I've attempted to add that config file as a link to the shell project as well, but I've failed. Q1 : Is it possible to use multiple ServiceReference.ClientConfig files like this? Q2 : Are there any best-practices for this case? Q3 : Is it possible to rename a *.config or *.ClientConfig file ? How is it done? How do I tell the application what file to use? Edit : Formatting

• Constant NSDictionary/NSArray for class methods.

  I am trying to code a global lookup table of sorts. I have game data that is stored in character/string format in a plist, but which needs to be in integer/id format when it is loaded. For instance, in the level data file, a "p" means player. In the game code a player is represented as the integer 1. This let's me do some bitwise operations, etc. I am simplifying greatly here, but trying to get the point across. Also, there is a conversion to coordinates for the sprite on a sprite sheet. Right now this string-integer, integer-string, integer-coordinate, etc. conversion is taking place in several places in code using a case statement. This stinks, of course, and I would rather do it with a dictionary lookup. I created a class called levelInfo, and want to define the dictionary for this conversion, and then class methods to call when I need to do a conversion, or otherwise deal with level data. • vbCrLf in Multiline TextBox shows up only when .Trim() is called

  I have an ASP TextBox with TextMode set to MultiLine. I'm having problems with preserving the vbCrLf characters when a user tries to put line breaks into the text. When a button on the page is pressed, I'm taking the text from the control, trimming it using String.Trim, and assigning that value to a String property on an object (which, in turn assigns it to a private internal String variable on the object). The object then takes the value from the private internal variable and throws it into the database using a stored procedure call (the SP parameter it is put into is an nvarchar(4000)). What is surprising to me is that if I change my transformer to call any class from the JRE, it works. But it doesn't work when I call my own class org.leplus.sfn.tracer.ComponentTracer. My first guess was a classpath issue but the ComponentTracer is both in the classpath and in the agent's jar. So I am lost. If any of you see where I am missing something. Cheers, Tom

• Alert Dialog with custom layout failing

  So this is related to a question I asked earlier. I am trying to display an alert using a specified layout. My layout is: And the code to call and show the alert dialog is: Context mContext = getApplicationContext(); AlertDialog.Builder builder = new AlertDialog.Builder(mContext); // use a custom View defined in xml View view = LayoutInflater.from(mContext).inflate(R.layout.sell_dialog, (ViewGroup) findViewById(R.id.layout_root)); builder.setView(view); builder.setPositiveButton(android.R.string.ok, new OnClickListener() { @Override public void onClick(DialogInterface dialog, int which) { // do whatever you want with the input } }); AlertDialog alertDialog = builder.create(); alertDialog.show(); When I run it I get an error saying: Uncaught handler: thread main exiting due to uncaught exception android.view.WindowManager$NadTokenException: Unable to add window -- token null is not for an application I've looked through the android development site and can't figure it out. I think I'm just missing something obvious but the fix isn't jumping out at me. How can I get this alert dialog to display?

  I'm having trouble getting a Java Applet to communicate with the Javascript code on the page the applet is hosted on. It works sometimes, but othertimes it throws an obscure exception, that googling for has not turned up any useful information, besides a few Java bug reports that were never resolved (thanks Sun). Here is the code I am using: JSObject win = JSObject.getWindow(this); Object[] args = new Object[1]; args[0] = "test argument"; String result = (String) win.call("testJSfunc", args); // XXX Here is the exception I get on the line marked // XXX. Note that it is intermittent. Often it works, but sometimes it does not, using the same exact code. Reloading the page repeatedly will produce the error pretty quickly. netscape.javascript.JSException: No registered plugin for applet ID 1 at sun.plugin2.main.client.MessagePassingJSObject.newJSException(Unknown Source) at sun.plugin2.main.client.MessagePassingJSObject.waitForReply(Unknown Source) at sun.plugin2.main.client.MessagePassingJSObject.call(Unknown Source) at TestApplet.testCallJS(TestApplet.java:159) at TestApplet.init(TestApplet.java:139) at sun.plugin2.applet.Plugin2Manager$AppletExecutionRunnable.run(Unknown Source) at java.lang.Thread.run(Unknown Source) Is there another more stable way of communicating between Java and Javascript that I should be using?

• Japanese text garbled while passing to a http restlet service

  Hi , I have a perl client which is calling a http restlet service (put method). Some of the parameters in this call contain japanese text. when I printed the contents of these request parameters in the restlet service I found these chars garbled ! This is my PERL client code: my %request_headers = ( 'DocumentName' => $document_name, --> This name is a JAPANESE String 'DocumentDescription' => 'Test Japanese Chars', 'content-length' => 200, 'Content-Type' => 'application/octet-stream; charset=utf-8', 'User-Agent' => "JPCharTester", ); $s-write_request('PUT', '/test-document/TEST/TEST_DOCUMENT' , %request_headers, $content); in this call both the values of $context and $document_name are JAPANESE Strings. But ONLY the document_name is received as garbled in my backend service. Here goes the Service code: String URL_ENCODING = "UTF-8"; String documentName = requestHeaders.getFirstValue("DocumentName"); System.out.println("Encoded Document Name : "+documentName+" <<<"); --> documentName is garbled here try { documentName = URLDecoder.decode(documentName, URL_ENCODING); System.out.println(>>> Decoded Document Name : "+documentName+" <<<"); --> documentName is garbled here } catch (java.io.UnsupportedEncodingException ex) { throwException(ex.getMessage(), Status.SERVER_ERROR_INTERNAL, ex); } both the above log statements printed GARBLED TEXT !! • Trouble with Rails has_many relationships

  I'm writing an app where a user can both create their own pages for people to post on, and follow posts on pages that users have created. Here is what my model relationships look like at the moment... class User < ActiveRecord::Base has_many :pages has_many :posts has_many :followings has_many :pages, :through => :followings, :source => :user class Page < ActiveRecord::Base has_many :posts belongs_to :user has_many :followings has_many :users, :through => :followings class Following < ActiveRecord::Base belongs_to :user belongs_to :page class Post < ActiveRecord::Base belongs_to :page belongs_to :user The trouble happens when I try to work my way down through the relationships in order to create a homepage of pages (and corresponding posts) a given user is following (similar to the way Twitter's user homepage works when you login - a page that provides you a consolidated view of all the latest posts from the pages you are following)... I get a "method not found" error when I try to call followings.pages. Ideally, I'd like to be able to call User.pages in a way that gets me the pages a user is following, rather than the pages they have created. I'm a programming and Rails newb, so any help would be much appreciated! I tried to search through as much of this site as possible before posting this question (along with numerous Google searches), but nothing seemed as specific as my problem...
