  • Why does Unity screen blank out over XDMCP?

    My XDMCP sessions display fine until I login. I've checked all logs and settings for this and can't find anything wrong, this works fine on other systems so I'm wondering if this has anything to do with the underlying hardware or an application that loads when logging in.   • What's the best way to manage list item sort order with Drag & Drop UI?

    I have a list of Students that I should display to user on a web page in tabular format. The items are stored in DB along with SortOrder information. On the web page, user can rearrange the list order by dragging and dropping the items to their desired sort order, similar to this post. Below is a screenshot of my test page. In the above example, each row has sort order info attached to it. When I drop John Doe (Student Id 10) above the Student Id 1 row, the list order should now be: 2, 10, 1, 8, 11. What's the optimistic (less resource hungry) way to store and update Sort Order information? My only idea for now is, for every change in the list's sort order, every object's SortOrder value should be updated, which in my opinion is very resource hungry. Just FYI: I might have at most 25 rows in my table.

  • Is there a maximum delay an UDP packet can have?

    I am currently implementing a real-time network protocol for a multiplayer game using UDP. I am not having any technical difficulties, but as I always have to care about late UDP packets I am wondering just how late they can arrive. I have researched the topic and have not found any mention of it, so I assume there is no technical limitation, but I wonder if common network/internet architecture (or hardware) gives an effective limitation of how late a UDP packet can be delivered.

    Reminder to myself - SQL Server has nice index columns directly tied to their tables. Oracle has sequences that are islands to themselves. select seq_name.currval from dual; select seq_name.nextval from dual; currval - return current number at top of sequence nextval - increment sequence by 1, return new number   therefore - to create functionality in oracle similar to an index column - OPTION A) - Create insert trigger: CREATE OR REPLACE TRIGGER dept_bir BEFORE INSERT ON departments FOR EACH ROW WHEN (new.id IS NULL) BEGIN SELECT dept_seq.NEXTVAL INTO :new.id FROM dual; END; This will handle creating a unique identity, but will not necessarily inform process flow of identity without additional logic. OPTION B) - Select indentity into temp variable, insert whole item into tab **** When attemptint to query currval, the below error was being thrown - SELECT seq_name.currval from dual; ERROR : TABLE OR VIEW DOES NOT EXIST *** Although Oracle sys tables may have access to the sequences, that isn't to say the Oracle user may have access to those sequences - verify permissions when the system can't see object that are being reported in the object explorer.

    I'm having trouble with a multi-layout option on a wordpress theme sight http://sight.wpshower.com/ the traffic have the option of a grid or a list layout at the click of a button. at present the list layout is default.   • Atheros Wireless card shows up as two different models?

    Hi I've been fighting these wireless drivers for a few days and just recently i noticed that the model the Wireless controller appears in lspci is different sometimes. This is the data i have after installing Ubuntu Server 64 bit ~# lspci -k .... 04:00.0 Network controller: Atheros Communications Inc. AR9285 Wireless Network Adapter (PCI-Express) (rev 01) Subsystem: AzureWave Device 1d89 Kernel driver in use: ath9k Kernel modules: ath9k ran some updates, restarted, all was good, all though it did say that linux-headers-server linux-image-server linux-server where beeing kept back. After that i installed ubuntu-desktop (aptitude install ubuntu-desktop --without-recommends) restarted and not only is the wireless not working anymore, but the hardware is listed as a different card ~# lspci -k .... 04:00.0 Ethernet controller: Atheros Communications Inc. Please create that user before using this script.\n" exit fi My problem is that I would ideally like to place a "not" if that first if statement so that I can trim down my if, else statement. Basically, a poker server that must be responsive with thousands of concurrent users. What type of server must i look for? What features, hardware or software, are required?
