• Convert MYSQL Timestamp to time_t

  I'm writing a multi-threaded program that needs to be able to check if a row requires updating and act accordingly. I had problems using the built in date/time functions of MySql and so decided to just store the "lastupdate" timestamp as an integer in the table. However, I'm having problems converting this timestamp to time_t so that I can use the time functions with it. Any help is greatly appreciated.

• PHP PCRE differences on testing and hosting servers

  Hi all, I've got the following regular expression that works fine on my testing server, but just returns an empty string on my hosted server. $text = preg_replace('~[^\\pL\d]+~u', $use, $text); Now I'm pretty sure this comes down to the hosting server version of PCRE not being compiled with Unicode property support enabled. The differences in the two versions are as follows: My server: PCRE version 7.8 2008-09-05 Compiled with UTF-8 support Unicode properties support Newline sequence is LF \R matches all Unicode newlines Internal link size = 2 POSIX malloc threshold = 10 Default match limit = 10000000 Default recursion depth limit = 10000000 Match recursion uses stack Hosting server: PCRE version 4.5 01-December-2003 Compiled with UTF-8 support Newline character is LF Internal link size = 2 POSIX malloc threshold = 10 Default match limit = 10000000 Match recursion uses stack Also note that the version on the hosting server (the same version PHP is compiled against) is pretty old. What confuses me though, is that pcretest fails on both servers from the command line with re> ~[^\\pL\d]+~u ** Unknown option 'u' although this regexp works fine when run from PHP on my server. So, I guess my questions are does the regular expression fail on the hosting server because of the lack of Unicode properties? Or is there something else that I'm missing? Thanks all, Gaz.

• Linux PDF/Postscript Optimizing

  So I have a report system built using Java and iText. PDF templates are created using Scribus. The Java code merges the data into the document using iText. The files are then copied over to a NFS share, and a BASH script prints them. I use acroread to convert them to PS, then lpr the PS. The FOSS application pdftops is horribly inefficient. My main problem is that the PDF's generated using iText/Scribus are very large. And I've recently run into the problem where acroread pukes because it hits 4gb of mem usage on large (300+ pages) documents. (Adobe is painfully slow at updating stuff to 64 bit). Now I can use Adobe reader on Windows, and use the Create Print PDF option or whatever its called, and it greatly( 10x) reduces the size of the PDF(it removes alot of metadata about form fields and such it appears) and produces a PDF that is basically a Print image. My question is does anyone know of a good solution/program for doing something similiar on Linux. Ideally, it would optimize the PDF, reduce size, and reduce PS complexity so the printer could print faster as it takes about 15-20 seconds a page to print right now.

• NSFetchedResultsController - Delegate methods crashing under iPhone OS 3.0, but NOT UNDER 3.1

  Hey guys, so I've got my NSFetchedResultsController working fine under the 3.1 SDK, however I start getting some weird errors, specifically in the delegate methods when I try it under 3.0. I've determined that this is related to the NSFetchedResultsControllerDelegate methods. This is what I have set up. Exception was caught during Core Data change processing: *** -[NSCFArray objectAtIndex:]: index (1) beyond bounds (1) with userInfo (null) I put a breakpoint on objc_exception_throw, and the crash seems to be occuring inside of controllerDidChangeContent. If I comment out all of the self.tableView methods, and put a single [self.tableView reloadData] inside of controllerDidChangeContent, everything works as expected. Anybody have any idea as to why this is happening?

• Post a form from asp to asp.Net

  I have a classic asp application. I want to post a contest form from that page to an Asp.Net form. The reason is that I want to use a lot of logic i have built into an Asp.Net page for validation before entering into the database and I don't know asp very well. Not to mention asp.Net being more secure. What's the best way to accomplish this goal? My thoughts are as follows: My asp Page: <html> <body> <form action="/Contests/entry.aspx" method="post"> Name: <input type="text" name="fname" size="20" /> Last Name: <input type="text" name="lname" size="20" /> <input type="submit" value="Submit" /> </form> </body> </html> aspx page is running in a Virtual Directory and would handle anything posted to it. Is this possible, or does aspx prevent this kind of thing? I ( preferably ) don't want to create the form in aspx as my colleague wants to have control of the page and build the html himself and I don't want the hassle of constantly changing it. Are there caveats I need to consider? What roadblocks will I run into? How do I access the Posted Form Values? Request.Form?

  Hi, Could anyone tell me how to implement a marquee style progress bar in wxPython? As stated on MSDN: you can animate it in a way that shows activity but does not indicate what proportion of the task is complete. Thank you. I tried this but it doesn't seem to work. The timer ticks but the gauge doesn't scroll. The View Model contains some DelegateCommand<T> delegates for handling commands (for instance UpdateUserCommand and RemoveUserCommand). • UIWebView in custom UITableViewCell

  i am not sure if this is a good route to go,...i have some data i receive from the web which in turn, populates a table view. The problem is, the text is html (p tags, etc). My first thought was to create a uiwebview in the cell, and populate with loadHTMLString. Fact is , it KINDA works. But, i then the cell no longer was the recipient of touches. SO, before we get too deep in code, is there a better way to populate the cells, than using a UIWebView. • Jasper report exports empty data in PDF format when there is more data

  I have a report to be exported in excel, pdf and word using jasper reports. I use xml file as the DataSource for the report, but when the data increases jasper report exports empty file in only for PDF format, when i reduce the data content it export the data available correctly. is there any limitation to pdf size? , how can we manage the size in jasper reports from java? • NHibernate.Search - async mode

  Hi, I am using NHibernate Lucene search in my project. Lucene.Net.dll - v - 2.3.1.3 NHibernate.dll - v - 2.1.0.4000 At this point I am trying to use async option for indexing and used following options config.SetProperty(NHibernate.Search.Environment.WorkerExecution, "async"); config.SetProperty(NHibernate.Search.Environment.WorkerThreadPoolSize, "1"); config.SetProperty(NHibernate.Search.Environment.WorkerWorkQueueSize, "5000"); Questions 1) My initial index was not build with this option, when used these settings first time, I had error saying NHibernate.Search.dll not found. When I deleted existing index and then started working, it went fine. Do we need to rebuild indexes whenever we change config settings like above ? 2) How size of index should be interpreted; i.e. initially my index was about 400MB (build over the last few months), which I deleted. Later when I reindexed, the size of index went down to 5MB ! Search appear to be alright after limited testing, but such a change appeared bit scary. Should we delete/rebuild indexes once in a while & is it normal to change this drastically ? 3) Is my above setting is OK ? When I had WorkerThreadPoolSize=5, I once got Dr Watson kind of error. Please advise on best practices of using async configuration for search. Regards, Atul

• Inline image and caption in article - conform caption's width to image's width

  Here's my code: <div class="image"> <img src="image.jpg" alt="Image description" /> <p class="caption">This is the image caption</p> </div> Here's my CSS: .image { position: relative; float: right; margin: 8px 0 10px 10px; } .caption { font-weight: bold; color: #444666; } As is above, the caption will conform to the width of div.image. My problem is often the img varies in size, from 100px width to 250px width. I'd like to make the caption width conform to the corresponding width of the image, no matter the size. While I'd love for this to be more semantic as well, I'm not sure how easy it would be to switch p.caption with img. Of course, I'd prefer that method but am taking this a step at a time. Is there some jquery code that I can use to detect the width of the image and add that width as an inline style to the caption tag? Is there a better way to do this? I'm open to suggestions.

Many rows later... ... 185352 03-09-2012 Apple Ian Washers Tap Ltd 600 £80 I need to calculate a large set of targets from table containing values different types, target table is under my control and so far is like: TargetID Year Month Salesperson Target_Type Quantity 1 2012 7 Ian 1 6000 2 2012 8 James 2 2000 3 2012 9 Ian 2 6500 At present I am working out target types using a view of the first table which has a lot of extra columns: SELECT YEAR(Date) , MONTH(Date) , Salesperson , Quantity , CASE WHEN Manufacturer IN ('Tap Ltd','Hats Inc') AND Product_Type = 'Hats' THEN True ELSE False END AS IsType1 , CASE WHEN Manufacturer = 'Hats Inc' AND Product_Type IN ('Hats','Coats') THEN True ELSE False END AS IsType2 ... ... , CASE WHEN Manufacturer IN ('Tap Ltd','Hats Inc') AND Product_Type = 'Hats' THEN True ELSE False END AS IsType24 , CASE WHEN Manufacturer IN ('Tap Ltd','Hats Inc') AND Product_Type = 'Hats' THEN True ELSE False END AS IsType25 FROM SalesTable WHERE [some stuff here] This is horrible to read/debug and I hate it!! I've tried a few different ways of simplifying this but have been unable to get it to work. The closest I have come is to have a third table holding the definition of the types with the values for each field and the type number, this can be joined to the tables to give me the full values but I can't work out a way to cope with multiple values for each field. Finally the question: Is there a standard way this can be done or an easier/neater method other than one column for each type of target? I know this is a complex problem so if anything is unclear please let me know. Edit - What I need to get: At the very end of the process I need to have targets displayed with actual sales: Type Year Month Salesperson TargetQty ActualQty 2 2012 8 James 2000 2809 2 2012 9 Ian 6500 6251 Each row of the sales table could potentially satisfy 8 of the types. Some more points: I have 5 different columns that need to be defined against the targets (or set to NULL to include any value) I have between 30 and 40 different types that need to be defined, several of the columns could contain as many as 10 different values For point 2, if I am using a row for each permutation of values, 2 columns with 10 values each would give me 100 rows for each sales person for each month which is a lot but if this is the only way to define multiple values I will have to do this. I have a code table where each row has an upper and lower range column, and I need an entry that represents a range where the upper range is the maximum value an int can hold(sort of like a hackish infinity). I would prefer not to hard code it and instead use something like SET UpperRange = int.Max

  I have a very simple camel route. It starts with a CXF Endpoint exposed as a web service. I then want to convert it to xml and call a method on a bean. Currently i'm getting a CXF specific object after the web service call. How do I take my serialized object out of the CXF MessageList and use it going forward? • Loading a RSA private key from memory using libxmlsec

  Hello, I'm currently using libxmlsec into my C++ software and I try to load a RSA private key from memory. To do this, I searched trough the API and found this function. It takes binary data, a size, a format string and several PEM-callback related parameters. When I call the function, it just stucks, uses 100% of the CPU time and never returns. Quite annoying, because I have no way of finding out what is wrong. Here is my code: d_xmlsec_dsig_context->signKey = xmlSecCryptoAppKeyLoadMemory( reinterpret_cast<const xmlSecByte*>(data), static_cast<xmlSecSize>(datalen), xmlSecKeyDataFormatBinary, NULL, NULL, NULL ); data is a const char* pointing to the raw bytes of my RSA key (using i2d_RSAPrivateKey(), from OpenSSL) and datalen the size of data. My test private key doesn't have a passphrase so I decided not to use the callbacks for the time being. Has someone already done something similar ? Do you guys see anything that I could change/test to get forward on this problem ? I just discovered the library on yesterday, so I might miss something obvious here; I just can't see it.
