  • My C# program running as Windows Service is blocking Windows XP from hibernation

    I have Windows Service written in C#. It starts two threads, one is pooling a Web Service, second is waiting on a Monitor object for a new job to arrive. Besides that, the main thread acts as a WCF service host using NetNamedPipeBinding. It lets the client application to register a callback and then sends notifications back. The problem I have is that when this Windows Service is running, I cannot hibernate or Standby my computer which is running on Windows XP, SP3. When I set Windows to hibernate or standby, nothing happens. Then, at the moment when I go to Service Manager and stop the service, the system hibernation starts immediately. The service class extending the ServiceBase has properties like CanHandlePowerEvent, CanPauseAndContinue, etc. set to true... That didn't make any difference. The question is: what can be blocking the Hibernation/Standby from proceeding? What should I take care about to avoid it?

  • Zend_Auth and database SaveHandler

    I have created Zend_Auth adapter implementing Zend_Auth_Adapter_Interface (similar to Pádraic's adapter) and created simple ACL plugin. Everything works fine with default session handler. So far, so good. As a next step I have created custom Session SaveHandler to persist session data in the database. My implementation is very similar to this one from parables-demo. Seems that everything is working fine. Session data are properly saved to the database, session objects are serialized, but authentication does not work when I enable this custom SaveHandler. I have debugged the authentication and all works fine up till the next request, when the authentication data are lost. I suspected, that is has something to do with the fact, that I use $adapter->write($object) instead $adapter->write($string), but the same happens with strings. I'm bootstrapping Zend_Application_Resource_Session in the first Bootstrap method, as early as possible. Does Zend_Auth need any extra configuration to persist data in the database? Why the authentity is being lost?

  • Publishing web service on IIS 7 gives 500.19 - Internal Server Error

    Hello. I have created a folder and published my webservice to this folder. I then created an application (in IIS 7) and pointed it at this folder location. When I try and hit the ASMX file from a browser on the local machine I get the following error: HTTP Error 500.19 - Internal Server Error The requested page cannot be accessed because the related configuration data for the page is invalid. Can someone tell me why?

    Hi, I'm developing a windows service in C# .net, Account: LocalSystem I want this service to check for all currently logged users if a specific application is running and if not - start this application AS corresponding user name. I provide domain, name, password, but Start() throws Win32Exception exception "Access is denied" process.StartInfo.Domain = domain; process.StartInfo.UserName = name; process.StartInfo.Password = password; process.StartInfo.FileName = fileName; process.StartInfo.UseShellExecute = false; process.Start(); The user whose credentials I provide is in administrator group - the application successfully runs if started manually. Is this accomplished in a different way? Thank you!

  • Max number of web methods?

    Guys I have a web service in asp.net 2.0 that has 234 methods. It seems that when I add another method the site does not compile in VS2005 until I remove one first. I get a message saying that the new method I just added does not exist in a file that belongs in the Microsoft.Net/.../Temporary Files directory. I have restarted IIS, closed down VS2005, removed all files from this temp directory but to no avail. The only way to get the code to compile is to remove another one so as to keep 234 methods.... I can consistency replicate this behaviour so it cannot be my code. Now I know this seems strange but it is true! One other strange thing is that exactly 100 of the method names begin with the word GetXXXyyyZZZ Has anyone else experienced problems with the maximum number of methods that are allowed in a web service?   • Retrieving license type (linux/windows/windows+sqlserver) for an Amazon EC2 instance via the API?

    I need to calculate the hourly running costs for my Amazon EC2 instances. This varies even between instances with same hardware configs (instance types) because I use different amazon images (AMIs): some plain windows server and some windows server with sql server (both of them have additional costs compared with plain linux instances) The EC2 Java API has a describeInstances() method which returns Instance objects with metadata such as instance id, instance type (m1.small/large...), state (running,stopped..) public ip, etc. This Instance object also has a .getLicense().getPool() which according to the Java API should return "The license pool from which this license was used (ex: 'windows')." I thought this is were it may also give 'windows+sqlserver' or something to that effect. The getLicense() method does however return null.. I've navigated around the EC2 web console, not being able to find this information, but I'm hoping that it is possible - otherwise it would mean that you cannot identify the true hourly cost of an particular instance unless you know which AMI was used to create it in the first place (plain windows server or windows server with sql server).     Does anyone know of a way to obtain free real-time stock data or near real-time stock data? I'd like to do this since I'm interested in the financial market, not for use in investment applications which is why I'm looking for something free. I've tried the Perl module Finance::YahooQuote but some of the fields such as last trade time appear to be broken. I've looked at the historical data but it doesn't fit my needs since I'd like to monitor the movements of the markets and stocks during the trading day not just open and close. I've also looked at http://www.opentick.com but they aren’t accepting new accounts and I can't find a timeline for when their network upgrade will be complete.

    This seems quite odd. I have a Datagrid (.net 3.5 cf) that I bind to either a List or Inventory[]. When I click on a row and then hit a button to perform an action when I bind to a List CurrentRowIndex is -1. When I bind to Inventory[] and perform the same action CurrentRowIndex comes back with the selected row why is that?? grdBatch.DataSource = InventoryItems.ToArray(); vs grdBatch.DataSource = InventoryItems;

  • edmx - The operation could not be completed - When adding Inheritance

    Hey guys I have an edmx model which I have draged 2 tables onto - One called 'File' and the other 'ApplicaitonFile'. These two tables have a 1 to 1 relationship in the database. If I stop here everything works fine. But in my model, I want 'ApplicaitonFile' to inherit from 'File'. So I delete the 1 to 1 relationship then configure 'ApplicaitonFile' from 'File' and then remove the FileId from 'ApplicaitonFile' which was the primary key. (Note I am following the instructions from here). If I leave the model open at this point everything is fine, but as soon as I close it, if I try and reopen it again I get the following error "The operation could not be completed". I have been searching for a solution and found this - http://stackoverflow.com/questions/944050/entity-model-does-not-load but as far as I can tell I don't have a duplicate InheritanceConnectors (although I don't know exactly what I'm looking for but I can't see anything out of the ordinary - like 2 connectors with the same name) and the relationship I originally have is a 1 to 1 not a 1 to 0..1 Any ideas??? this is driving me crazy...

    My table structure is as follows: Person 1-M PesonAddress Person 1-M PesonPhone Person 1-M PesonEmail Person 1-M Contract Contract M-M Program Contract M-1 Organization At the end of this query I need a populated object graph where each person has their: PesonAddress's PesonPhone's PesonEmail's PesonPhone's Contract's - and this has its respective Program's Now I had the following query and I thought that it was working great, but it has a couple of problems: from people in ctx.People.Include("PersonAddress") .Include("PersonLandline") .Include("PersonMobile") .Include("PersonEmail") .Include("Contract") .Include("Contract.Program") where people.Contract.Any( contract => (param.OrganizationId == contract.OrganizationId) && contract.Program.Any( contractProgram => (param.ProgramId == contractProgram.ProgramId))) select people; The problem is that it filters the person to the criteria but not the Contracts or the Contract's Programs. It brings back all Contracts that each person has not just the ones that have an OrganizationId of x and the same goes for each of those Contract's Programs respectively. What I want is only the people that have at least one contract with an OrgId of x with and where that contract has a Program with the Id of y... and for the object graph that is returned to have only the contracts that match and programs within that contract that match. I kinda understand why its not working, but I don't know how to change it so it is working... Keeping in mind that I am trying to do this as a compiled query so I think that means anonymous types are out.

  • How does one implement storage/retrieval of smart-search/mailbox features?

    Hi All, I have a question regarding implementation of smart-search features. For example, consider something like "smart mailboxes" in various email applications. Let's assume you have your data (emails) stored in a database and, depending on the field for which the query will be created, you present different options to the end user. At the moment let's assume the Subject, Verb, Object approach… For instance, say you have the following: SUBJECTs: message, to_address, from_address, subject, date_received VERBs: contains, does_not_contain, is_equal_to, greater_than, less_than OBJECTs: ??????? Now, in case it isn't clear, I want a table structure (although I'm not opposed to an external XMLesque file of some sort) to store (and later retrieve/present) my criteria for smart searches/mailboxes for later use. As an example, using SVO I could easily store then reconstruct a query for "date between two dates" -- simply use "date greater than" AND "date less than". However, what if, in the same smart search, I wanted a "between" OR'ed with another criterion? You can see that it might get out of hand -- not necessarily in the query creation (as that is rather simplistic), but in the option presentation and storage mechanism. Perhaps I need to think more on a more granular level. Perhaps I need to simply allow the user to select AND or OR for each entry independently instead of making it an ALL OR NOTHING type smart search (i.e. instead of MATCH ALL or MATCH ANY, I need to simply allow them to select -- I just don't want it to turn into a Hydra). Any input would be most appreciated. My apologies if the question is a bit incoherent. It is late, and I my brain is toast. Best.

    Hi guys, I want to check our google postions for several keywords every day and make a note in a spreadseet. At the moment, we have a student doing it but it's a rubbish job and it doesn't seem fair on them! Are there any tools available to automate this process? I have tried rankchecker by seobook.com, but although that should be exactly what im looking for when i set scheduled tasks in that, it doesnt work. Any tips would be appreciated, thanks! peter EDIT: Liam has suggested a Python script to do this, which unfortunately isnt something I'm very familiar with! If anyone knows of a good tutorial or something to help us with this, that would be brilliant. Update: Found a php script at seoscript.net which looks like a step in the right direction. But I cant get it to work! I get this error. Anyone more knowledgabe than me know how to fix that? I have PEAR installed. thanks again, Peter
