  Having problem with encryption. I gave full permissions to all users to RSA folders. I did C:\>aspnet_regiis -pe "appSettings" -location "web.config" -prov "RsaProtectedCo nfigurationProvider" Encrypting configuration section... An error occurred executing the configuration section handler for appSettings. Failed to encrypt the section 'appSettings' using provider 'RsaProtectedConfigur ationProvider'. • WPF binding and pointers

  hey guys, I have a WPF application that contains windows with few user controls and Coordinator object. the window and all its user controls pointing to an object, which instace is in the Coordinator, by thier DataContext. the problem is that I want to change this object (e.g. create new object()) in the Coordinator but I want all the dataContexts to point to the new object. I tried to send the object by ref to the window constructor but it didn't help. any idea about how can I rewrite the memory location that all pointers are pointing to? (I don't want to repalce the properties in object since its a lot of work nor to use a middle object that points to the replaced object) Thanks Eran

• PHP Session when using desktop app

  In this question I asked how to POST to a php file form a vb.net app: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2615335/post-to-webpage-in-vb-net-win-forms-desktop-not-asp-net So now I've logged in the user user by posting their username and password to the php file, the php file then does security/checks they exist/etc and if both username and password are correct is stores the user ID in a session variable. Now if the vb.net app tries to download data off a page which needs the user to logged in, it checks this by doing: if (!isset($_SESSION['uid'])) { header("Location: index.php"); } However after having logged correctly in the app the session variable is not set. How does session work with a vb.net app like this? When the user logs in successfully should I download the user id and keep it in the vb.net app and then post it to each page that requires authentication?

  Hi all, I am trying to find a way to get the Property to which a control is bound (in c#). If I have the following: <dxe:ComboBoxEdit DisplayMember="Name" ItemsSource="{Binding Path=NameOptions, Mode=OneTime}" SelectedItem="{Binding Path=Name, UpdateSourceTrigger=PropertyChanged}" /> I am now trying to get the location to which the SelectedItem is bound to, i.e. the result should be "Name". Then in code I need to do some stuff with that ViewModel Property. Issue is that I can't just hard code this as it is a generic method that needs to work with each control on the form. • Using sub-repo with hgwebdir difficulties in mercurial

  Allright I got myself in a deadlock with Mercurial and sub-repos... Here's what happenend: I had a large mercurial repo that I server via apache and hgweb.cgi. Due to the size of the repo I decided to move to sub-repositories and share these with hgwebdir.cgi. Using the convert tool with the filemap option I created several sub-repositories: /main/foo /main/bar Nicely created an entry for the sub-repositories in .hgsub: foo = foo bar = bar And set hgwebdir.cgi up to show $/** as the root folder. Now when I went to my site (foo.com/hg) I saw my sub-repositories with one empty reposory among them (no name, no content), but I could not download it (archive location unknown): That was allright until I added a new sub-repository. I could not push the new .hgsub file to foo.com/hg, since that page is served by hgwebdir. The only method I can work currently is switch from hgwebdir to hgweb, commit .hgsubste and switch back to hgwebdir. Does someone have a good setup for such a mess?

  SQL Server Edition: 2008 Enterprise Visual Studio: 2010 w/ .NET 4.0 SSMS 2008 Addin - Data Scripter project source code on CodePlex references Microsoft.SqlServer.SqlTools.VSIntegration.dll I have referenced the DLL under <<Microsoft SQL Server install location>>\100\Tools\Binn\VSShell\Common7\IDE But here is the oddity. Microsoft.SqlServer.SqlTools.VSIntegration.dll contains a namespace Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.UI.VSIntegration, which in turn contains ServiceCache (public sealed). As soon as I add the reference, ServiceCache is highlighted (meaning there is no reference issue) But the problem arises when I compile the project and VS 2010 throws up an error that it cannot find ServiceCache. The name 'ServiceCache' does not exist in the current context Why is that ServiceCache is not visible during compile time but looks like it's available right after adding the assembly? And Reflector does show that ServiceCache is part of the assembly that the project is referencing, but Visual Studio intellisense fails to display it. Any had this kind of problem? [UPDATE] Some screenshots Reflector clearly shows ServiceCache But Visual Studio 2010 says, otherwise...

• Android delivering different Cell IDs (Neighboring Cell Info)

  Hello. Using an Android Dev Phone 2, I'm using the GsmCellLocation.getCid() method to get the Cell ID on my network. When I run the command and get all the CellIDs for the NeighboringCellInfo I get this values: 597195726 597185722 597195718 597110191 597101100 597175726 I'm running this using the SDK 1.6. The problem is that when I run the Engineering Mode on a GSM modem that I have, running a command to obtain the Neighboring Cell IDs, I get this values: 34253 0 34223 34262 34181 0 What is the difference here? In what format is Android delivering the Cell IDs? I tried doing a "cell.getCid() & 0xffff" but now I'm getting the values: 21690 31686 37068 11695 11694 31694 Which are still different from the one that the GSM Modem is delivering with the Engineering Mode. Obviously I tried this on at the same time, same location. I'm trying to get the same Cell IDs that the external GSM modem I using is delivering Please provide any help Thanks in advance!

• Trouble parsing NMEA data from Serial Port.

  I'm retrieving NMEA sentences from a serial GPS. Then string are coming across like I would expect. The problem is that when parsing a sentence like this: $GPRMC,040302.663,A,3939.7,N,10506.6,W,0.27,358.86,200804,,*1A I use a simple bit of code to make sure I have the right sentect: string[] Words = sBuffer.Split(','); foreach (string item in Words) { if (item == "$GPRMC") { return "Correct Sentence"; } else { return "Incorrect Sentence } } I added the return in that location for the example. I have printed the split results to a text box and have seen that $GPRMC is indeed coming across in the item variable at some point. If the string is coming across why won't the if statement catch? Is is the $? How can I trouble shoot this?

• python c extension, problems with dlopen on mac os

  I've taken a library that is distributed as a binary lib (.a) and header, written some c++ code against it, and want to wrap the results up in a python module. I've done this here. The problem is that when importing this module on Mac OSX (I've tried 10.5 and 10.6), I get the following error: dlopen(/Library/Python/2.5/site-packages/dirac.so, 2): Symbol not found: _DisposePtr Referenced from: /Library/Python/2.5/site-packages/dirac.so Expected in: dynamic lookup This looks like symbols defined in the Carbon framework aren't being properly resolved, but I'm not sure what to do about that. I am supplying -framework Carbon to distutil.core.Extension's extra_link_args parameter, so I'm not sure what else I should do. Any help would be much appreciated.

  Hello - I'm looking for some feedback, blog links, etc that offer some tips and tricks for iPhone GPS development. I've read and understand the API, I have my demo app up and running, etc but I have run into some "quirks" with gps on iphone. For example, it seems that you you will receive a lot less location updates when your iphone enters "power save" mode. I've read that you can combat this by playing music in your application [not sure if this is true]. It also seems that, terms of making a reasonable pedometer, you should filter out any reading with horizontal accuracies less than 20 meters. Does this sound right? Is there any kind of checklist out on the web for iphone gps gotchas? Thanks in advance.

  At least two brilliant programmers, Linus Torvalds and Guido von Rossum, disparage the practice of putting keywords into a file that expand to show the version number, last author, etc. I know how keyword differences clutter up diffs. One of the reasons I like SlickEdit's DiffZilla is because it can be set to skip leading comments. However, I have vivid memories of team-programming where we had four versions of a file (two different releases, a customer one-off, and the development version) all open for patching at the same time, and was quite helpful to verify with a glance that each time we navigated to an included header we got the proper one, and each time we pasted code the source and destination were what we expected. There is also the where-did-this-file-come-from problem that arises when a hasty developer copies a file from one place to another using the file system, rather than checking it out of the repository using the tool; or, more defensibly, when files under control in locations A, B, and C need to be marshalled (with cherry-picking) into a distribution location D. In places where VCS keywords are banned, how do you cope?

  I have a multithreaded c++ application that runs on Windows, Mac and a few Linux flavours. To make a long story short: Inorder for it to run at maximum efficiency I have to be able to instantiate a single thread per physical processor/core. Creating more threads than there are physical processors/cores degrades the performance of my program considerably. I can already correctly detect the number of logical processors/cores correctly on all three of these platforms. To be able to detect the number of physical processors/cores correctly I'll have to detect if hyper-treading is supported AND active. My question therefore is if there is a way to detect whether hyperthreading is supported AND ENABLED? If so, how exactly.

  I have a 100x100 pixel image that I want to draw at various angles rotated around the center of the image. The following code works, but rotates around the original origo of the coordinate system (upper left hand corner) and not the translated location. Thus the image is not rotated around itself but around the upper left corner of the screen. • SubWebFolder and mutliple bin folders with Website model?

  Hi, I am looking for some advice on how what is the best approach to subweb folders and having mutliple bin folders in the WebSite Project model. For adding new pages at a later stage without recompiling the core files of a website and without building a full fledged Plug-in framework api. I am aware of being able to drop in the compiled dlls into the main bin folder and to just copy over the new page files to a sub folder but I am looking for a more organized file/folder approach. Here is the how it was done with WAP: Moving the Code-Behind Assemblies/DLLs to a different folder than /BIN with ASP.NET 1.1 Multiple /bin folders in ASP.NET I should also mention that I see that I can still do it the old way with the website project model by making the adjustment to the config section mentioned here but I was wondering if that has any side affects. • No speed-up with useless printf's using OpenMP

  I just wrote my first OpenMP program that parallelizes a simple for loop. I ran the code on my dual core machine and saw some speed up when going from 1 thread to 2 threads. However, I ran the same code on a school linux server and saw no speed-up. After trying different things, I finally realized that removing some useless printf statements caused the code to have significant speed-up. Below is the main part of the code that I parallelized: #pragma omp parallel for private(i) for(i = 2; i <= n; i++) { printf("useless statement"); prime[i-2] = is_prime(i); } I guess that the implementation of printf has significant overhead that OpenMP must be duplicating with each thread. What causes this overhead and why can OpenMP not overcome it?

  I am trying to accomplish the following: 1. On click, have a div with id="fader" fadeout 2. replaceHtml of fader with new html (this new HTML will appear below the fold of the browser) 3. Animate new HTML to slide up to the specified location Step 1 and 2 are working, step 3 is not and I'm stumped as to why.
